We arrived at the hotel at 8pm, where there was no one on the reception desk and had to wait 20 mins until someone finally emerged, there was no water in the room/fridge and no milk for coffee or tea. We’d hoped to hang by the pool the next morning however the pool was filthy and green so we decided to head to the beach instead. The person in the room next to us kept slamming their door shut. No breakfast facility as the hotel is undergoing renovations however the cafe across the road was great and portions sizes were decent. Only positive about the hotel is that the lady at the front desk was friendly and polite and the bed was comfy.

The hotel was in a good location with it being close to local shops and the beach. We were in the northern beaches for a wedding and transport was easy to access. The hotel was nice and clean although parking in the actual hotel is very tight. The front desk staff could be a bit warmer in their hospitality but overall the stay was pleasant.

Simple but modern recently renovated room. Parking is tight (physically) but we arrived in between check out and check in times so whoever couldn’t access our room as we were too early , we got a space. Recommend doing this as parking tricky in area at weekends Good value overall

Air conditioning leaked onto floor. Shower door leaked water onto floor, smoke alarm was faulty and woke us at 5.45 am. Door to bathroom didn’t close properly. Limited car parking and very difficult to park a larger car.

My stay was a very average experience at most. The room was clean except for the stained curtains and the odd black hair located in the bathroom (assuming from a cleaner). I could hear every single world clear as day from other guests in surrounding rooms making it very hard to sleep. The rain pouring over the stairs outside also made sleeping very difficult. There’s a lack of powerpoint options along with no aircon access within the room

Air con did not work, literally baked in our room overnight, cockroaches, tv did not work, fire alarm in room beeped all night, shower leaked and smelt of mould. Whole property is very under maintened l. Unfortunately when told staff at reception when checking out it was only thanks for telling us. Won’t be staying here again

There was a humming sound all night.I didnt have air conditioning on and I couldnt isolate it as something coming from outside.My conclusion is that it's in the building, walls.I was also awakened by the fridge humminig at 5am.This hotel is tired and needs a revamp. There was also a brown smear on the carpet at the end of the bed.

This hotel is very tired and nothing like the photos. First night I was kept awake with doors banging and people talking. We booked 3 rooms, the room on level 1 ( they had a baby ) outside their room was a common area and after they came home from the pub, stopped outside near the pool and smoked and were very loud. Booked for 3 nights didn’t bother with the 3rd. Very disappointed.

The property is in dire need of revamping and TLC. It is jaded and from the 80’s in style. The location is superb. The hotel does not have a restaurant or offer any breakfast either, relying heavily on the coffee shop up the road; or the Newport hotel across the road. There is also someone/or something that sounds remarkably like a leaf blower the starts every morning at about eight to ensure you don’t sleep in. I did have a good time in the Northern Beaches but didn’t have it enriched by the hotel. A bed with a pillow was my deduction.

Stayed at the Mirage for a staycation up on the Northern Beaches. Yes the property is tired and really there aren’t any facilities you’re going to use except your room, but that’s what you get for the price. It’s priced appropriately, and well located for everything Newport, Avalon and the northern beaches offers, and right opposite the Newport Arms and Bert’s (the new fine diner within it). The staff couldn’t be friendlier and more accomodating too. Is it fancy? No. Is it priced accordingly? Yes. Just don’t expect more than a bed for the night in a great spot. And take your ear plugs, rooms are a bit noisy.

Funny sort of place in some ways really nice but in others not so good. Had an unpleasant run in with another guest when parking our car, he had blocked the hotel car park entrance and when I pointed this out the staff failed to do anything about it and just got huffy. Also if you have over size 34 waist you may have trouble getting into the shower I have never seen a shower door so narrow.

The staff were amazing. Although the report is under renovations and our room type wasn’t available, they were more than accommodating and offered some refund plus late check out. Lovely view of inlet and marinas from window. Walk to RPAYC. Not a lot of dining options locally, but Newport beach in walking distance (or bus).

The hotel was in a good location with it being close to local shops and the beach. We were in the northern beaches for a wedding and transport was easy to access. The hotel was nice and clean although parking in the actual hotel is very tight. The front desk staff could be a bit warmer in their hospitality but overall the stay was pleasant.

Definitely not a four-star hotel experience - I'm suprised they can say that. The hotel is very old fashioned looking and the room was nothing like on the photo. Very dated and old with the tiniest single beds for the twin room. Tea making facilities were also very basic and cheap brands of tea / coffee. The balony was very dirty and the curtain to balcony door was dirty and moudly. Rest of room was clean though. Water in shower was good though - very good pressure and nice and hot. Position is great too - very close to transport and the Newport pub.

Stayed at the Mirage for a staycation up on the Northern Beaches. Yes the property is tired and really there aren’t any facilities you’re going to use except your room, but that’s what you get for the price. It’s priced appropriately, and well located for everything Newport, Avalon and the northern beaches offers, and right opposite the Newport Arms and Bert’s (the new fine diner within it). The staff couldn’t be friendlier and more accomodating too. Is it fancy? No. Is it priced accordingly? Yes. Just don’t expect more than a bed for the night in a great spot. And take your ear plugs, rooms are a bit noisy.

Room was spacious with a lovely outlook over the river/Marina and very clean. Perfectly acceptable pump pack shampoo etc in the bathroom. Really nice pool which looks out over the river. For the price it was great! There was also free undercover parking, decent free wifi and very friendly, helpful people on reception. I’d definitely stay again if I needed to be in this particular neighbourhood.

Lovely stay at this hotel! Loved the location, super close to the beach and all the beautiful scenery of Newport. Had a lovely view from my room balcony and it was clean and comfortable. I stayed when renovations were happening so that’s the only reason I haven’t given full stars as you could see the building work taking place and there was a bit of building work noise going on. Other than that it was an amazing stay and would stay again :)

We arrived at the hotel at 8pm, where there was no one on the reception desk and had to wait 20 mins until someone finally emerged, there was no water in the room/fridge and no milk for coffee or tea. We’d hoped to hang by the pool the next morning however the pool was filthy and green so we decided to head to the beach instead. The person in the room next to us kept slamming their door shut. No breakfast facility as the hotel is undergoing renovations however the cafe across the road was great and portions sizes were decent. Only positive about the hotel is that the lady at the front desk was friendly and polite and the bed was comfy.

The room size and view was very good. Loved the layout. It would be fantastic if re decorated which I hope is in the pipeline. Likewise accessible food options would be nice but not a deterrent. Parking was very tight to get in and out of.. But we would like to stay again!

Standard room are not the best choice, no views at all. The property is in dire need of revamping and TLC. It is jaded and from the 80’s in style. The location is superb. The hotel does not have a restaurant or offer any breakfast either, relying heavily on the coffee shop up the road; or the Newport hotel across the road. There is also someone/or something that sounds remarkably like a leaf blower the starts every morning at about eight to ensure you don’t sleep in. I did have a good time in the Northern Beaches but didn’t have it enriched by the hotel. A bed with a pillow was my deduction.

Great place to stay! Convenient location to where our kids live in Newport, close to plenty of great beaches, and the restaurants and shops in Avalon are only minutes away. The only minor thing is it’s tough to park with larger vehicles due to tight clearances for the hotels parking. Brad F, Colorado, USA

Great weekend stay. Hotel is being beautifully renovated so the 2024/25 reviews of tired looking rooms doesn’t apply anymore. But there may be a little noise int eh morning. Staff were amazing and they were very accommodating. You can upgrade the complimentary breakfast to a hot breakfast for $15 pp. You need parking skills to get around the carpark as it’s very tight especially on level 1. Great location having the Newport Hotel across the road.
