Great location on the lake with friendly staff. However, I wouldn’t say it was the best value for money. The rooms are overdue for a facelift, and could do with more sound proofing. Additionally whilst you are lakefront there is a public path right outside your window so if you are on the ground floor you end up with the privacy curtain closed so you don’t take advantage of the wonderful view. Parking is also a little bit of a lottery when the hotel and/or restaurant is full. Grotto is also currently closed which was a shame as it could have lifted the experience, but they were open about this in their confirmation email.

The live ‘duet’ band in the cosy, classy bar was a huge bonus and highlight. They play every Friday and Saturday night and are amazing! Lovely romantic songs and ballads from across the decades.

The pool was lovely and relaxing. The only problem this place has is the parking. We had to park at the other end of the property. There was only one mobility parking space for a property of this size and it was not an easy place to park in.

Good lake front view and well located. It is clearly a 4 Star Hotel/Motel accommodation. No lift to the second floor and had a hard time with the luggages. Breakfast was skimpy with one hot item: scramble eggs! All staff were inside the reception counter and no one available to assist ! Will not return.

Receptionist manner could be better. Not feeling welcome at all! Especially in a tourist town. Other than that hotel is good, nice and clean. There’s a free private grotto hot pool, make sure you reserve a time for it. Good view, clean and spacious!

Unfortunately I cannot recommend the hotel, given the poor value for money. At NZD 477 per night, I expected much more in terms of both quality and service. The breakfast was extremely limited, offering only a basic continental set, along with scrambled eggs, beans, and sausages. There was no real bread, just toast, and no vegan milk options, which felt quite outdated. Instead, they charged NZD 7 extra for a coffee with oat milk to accompany your breakfast… The facilities were disappointing, especially the pool, which was both outdated and not particularly clean. Another challenge was that you had to carry your bags up the stairs to the lobby, over uneven floors, and across high door sills, which was an inconvenience. We also had dinner in their indoor restaurant, and there were ants crawling under the table and on our feet. It was clear they hadn’t vacuumed the floor, and food debris was left sitting around. The only redeeming feature was the lake view and direct access to the water, which was lovely. It wasn’t enough however to make up for the overall disappointment. For half the price, our stay at Pullman in Auckland was far superior, with much better quality and service. Millennium hotel definitely didn’t live up to its price tag.

Beautiful lakeside surroundings, excellent check in staff. Room excellent but bathroom very outdated and not quite in keeping with standard of main room. Our room was not serviced until 3.00pm and then we had to ask person who appeared to be in charge of housekeeping to have it properly serviced. She agreed it was not properly done.

Spent three nights in a junior king suite. Lovely room with a huge comfortable bed, large bathroom with spa bath. Balcony overlooking the lake as I think all rooms at this hotel do. Staff on reception and bar and restaurant very efficient and helpful. Would definitely stay here again should we visit Taupau in the future.

Beautiful location and easy walk into the city although it's a reasonable distance away. The most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!! Amazing. Slightly dated room decor which didn't matter a bit, however the bathroom lighting was absolutely shocking and there were no other mirrors in the room to use where there was some natural light. If you're getting ready for an event like I was, not a great space for make up!

Lovely location directly on Lake Taupo, however the lake path is around 2 metres from the sliding door to your room if you happen to be located on the ground floor. The storerooms are generous in sizing but only have queen size beds. Decor a little dated but very comfortable. The restaurant was nice with a good menu selection. There is also a lovely area adjacent to the restaurant for drinks. Breakfast was delicious, best scrambled eggs! It’s a bit of a walk into town but doable. The rooms are possibly a little noisy due to the busy road behind the hotel. Once we shut the door to our bedroom, the bathroom acted as a buffer so it was much quieter. Parking is right outside the lower ground rooms. Staff were fabulous and very friendly.

Service at the bar was quite slow, especially for the drinks we ordered. We did not mind the music playing at night, but the banging from the service area as well as the music playing again from 7am on a Saturday morning was not ideal. Location and view of the lake is stunning and bed was comfy.

Great location right on the Lake. We paid $160 nzd for our nights stay which represents excellent value! The service was very good. We had drinks and dinner at the restaurant & once again the food & service was excellent. Would recommend

Food was OK but made a White Russian cocktail wrong twice, a simple drink to make wrong twice & barter was attitudinal about his mistake. Resort itself was fine but restaurant somewhat spoiled the experience

The hotel is in a really beautiful location and our room / balcony had amazing views over Lake Taupo.The room was clean and had all the amenities. The hotel is pretty old and the carpets in the corridors, the pool and the sauna could do with a refresh. Checking in and out was without a hassle and everybody working there had a smile on their face.

The hotel is brilliantly located right on the lakefront. The superior king lakeside rooms are lovely and the bed absolutely massive (biggest in 2 months in Oz/NZ). It isnt walkable to the town but Ubers are easily found.

The location with the waterfront views was stunning, amazing sunset! The size of the room was perfect. Staff were incredibly helpful and accomodating, not to be faulted. In room dining options were not good. Go out somewhere else for dinner.

Wonderful location with a beautiful view of the lake. We had dinner in our room and the room service was very prompt and the food was good. We could have had a meal in the restaurant but it was so nice to be in our room and listen to the waves and birds - plus an amazing sunset. Slept listening to the waves lapping on the shore- sheer bliss.

The room had a balcony that looked out over the lake. The bar/ lounge area was very inviting and comfortable with great live music Friday night. Our only disappointment was the restaurant. A very limited menu. Th3 seafood pasta had very little seafood in it and the pizza was one of th3 worst I have had. Butter chicken was excellent.
