Car parking is a lottery - it is worth paying extra for undercover if you can't get it

Great place to stay, facilities are excellent Shame pool was being renovated but got free entry to hot pools which are a short walk away which more than made up for it! Stayed there before and will stay there again

Really disappointed that the pool was closed, i booked this hotel for this reason, nothing on Expedia to mention that it was closed and booked to late to cancel. Lots of work going on around the hotel yes still very expensive Vs the other options in taupo. Pretty basic room and hotel for the money. Breakfast was awful too. Cold food. Beans were just water. Eggs horrible bacon cold. Coffee terrible. This is billed as 4.5 star it’s 3 at best. I never write bad reviews but if I could get any refund for this property I would. If I could have cancelled on arrival I would have. I can’t see me paying over $300 for a night here ever again

Parking and checkin was a shambles. When I arrived at 7:30pm all the free guest parking was full, and there was inadquate space in front of reception for check in aprking as well. Having to pay an extra $25 for secured parking was an unwelcome surprise. The room was fine - comfortable bed, large clean bathroom - but breakfast was another disappointment. The cooked options were all barely lukewarm. Pastries weren't fresh. Not up to Hilton standard.

The rooms were spotless. The staff was amazing and they also had a great breakfast and a very nice heated pool and spa.

Facilities lovely; hot pool and swim pool available; cleaning staff friendly; room spacious and very nice; Check in staff chilly and disinterested; parking not great as have to walk in near darkness from a lower carpark back to the hotel;

Poor parking, unless you pay extra, inconvenient room layout, find other places to stay

Cold water in showers, rubbish stinking out the hallways, could not get hold of the staff on the phone, no notice that the pools were closed, really disappointing considering the cost

Love the pool, spa and gym and the rooms are very comfortable

Enjoyed our stay at the Hilton .Our room was clean and spacious. It's also very quiet. Has a lovely pool and gym.

Well below the Hilton brand standards, hairs from previous guests still on the wall of the shower room. Due to the shower curtain the entire bathroom floor gets flooded so no one can use the toilet with getting their pants wet. Non private balcony and the list goes on and on

We booked a lake facing superior room, with a balcony. We had a ground room and the view was covered by the hotel bushes and trees, we couldnt see the lake. The door had the rubber guard half peeled off the outside door, there was animal urine on our balcony. We found a necklace in the bathroom, there was black mold in the bathroom shower and the ceiling paint was peeling. Superficial things like scuff marks on the walls and chunks of plaster from the walls. HOWEVER, The duty manager was great and very understanding, she listened to my concerns and i NEVER complain. She had the cleaning crew come within 15 mins, they fixed the issued inside the room, they didnt have cleaning equipment for the urine outside so that was left as it was. The duty manager advised me she couldnt refund as i booked 3rd party but made accommodations where she could which i definitely appreciated. Whilst this was not a pleasant stay i appreciate the duty managers efforts to try to turn it around for us given we stayed 1 night.

Dated property but common areas were in decent shape. The room cleaning standards are poor, mold in showers, dirty dishes, stained walls. Disappointing from a once trusted brand. Staff were nice.

Overpriced for the standard of room. Mould in shower and a carpet wearing out is not what I expected from this premium priced hotel.

Room overall good but getting tired, a fair few marks and chips on walls and corners and scuffed carpet at bathroom door. Bathroom was not cleaned well, with a dirty toilet seat and hairs on the floor. Aside from these was a nice stay but at the price point you would expect better.

Room was a good size, bathroom could have been cleaner in the shower. They forgot to service our room on the first day but attended to it when we asked late that afternoon when we returned.

Very disappointed once we got to our room, we booked a premium room with lake view. Nothing was mentioned during the booking nor was anything at check in. When we got to our room the windows where cover so we could not see out, we opened the balcony door only to find it was covered in scaffolding with a blue mess cover all of our view. The hotel was being painted and we had painters walking across the balcony. We complained at reception and were moved to another room without a view of the lake. We went for breakfast the following day only to find all the windows covered also. No reduction in rate nor any apology. Distrusting that they think this would be OK for a Hilton Hotel…..

Such a lovely hotel, and fabulous views of the lake if you’re lucky enough to see it from your room. Not issue for me was there was noise from the room above me - otherwise no complaints at all

Property is under renovations and our “deluxe” room had its view of the lake obscured by scaffolding and workers walking back and forth in front of our window. The room is clean and modern but a bit bland - was hoping for something with some character given this was a historic building. Nice hilltop location but not walkable to restaurants or the lake.

Too nosiy for plumbing and aircon/ heater, didnt get a good sleep. Frontdesk staff can speak better and clear.

Good views of the lake, great patio and spacious room. The room itself and bathroom were a bit run down.

Loved the property, it looks grand! We had an awesome room and view. It was a shame we were kept awake with chairs moving, and staff talking and walking around in the restaurant below us at 11pm

What a wonderful stay at the Hilton Taupo. From the High Tea to the upgraded room to the dinner / drink and bfast. Amazing service and attention to detail. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and felt very special. Thank you we will be back.

The staff are helpful here and the environment is lovely. We have stayed here several times and will continue to do so.

called front desk, room service, even emergency. at 9,10pm Saturday night, just need bottle water, but calling for half hour no on answer. Left room cleaning

No lotion in bottle in room. Did not deliver luggage to room. Understaffed- took forever to get our food at dinner

Staff very welcoming and professional. Extremely helpful. Lovely meal at restaurant. Secure parking at reasonable price.

The room was nicely equipped and very comfortable. The staff was unhosptiable. Telling us to come back at 3:00 to check and not having a clue where to out us when we arrived at 3:45 and just nit nice through the whole encounter. We booked for three and we went to turn in found no sheets for the pull out. They didn’t answer the front desk phone and when I went down answered with a well ‘sort it out’. No answer as to when or how. Someone needs to train the staff.

Reception staff rude and arrogant upon arrival because we had booked through a third party. Female Manager made a big deal about our request that if possible could bed be a king bed, she said this may mean they have to undo the two single beds to push them together as a king bed. In the end they made our “king bed” but laid a queen size mattress protector just under the bottom sheet , not properly secured on the mattress, when we worked out what the lumps were under our sheets we had to pull the bed apart and remove it ourselves. Due to the rude and childish treatment we didn’t stay a second night as planned.

No Room service, called thrice got no response.

Lovely hotel - room was spacious, clean with a comfortable bed and large, well lit bathroom and shower. The breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. It is a short drive from the downtown shopping and restaurant venues.

Séjour agréable mais hôtel un peu décentré par rapport au lac. Personnel un peu confus dans les consignes, room service ferme à 22h et non pas 24/24. Petit-déjeuner de qualité et piscine chauffée très agréable

Hotel is not located close to the water; picture of hotel does not match reality; room nice, spacious but bathroom moldy. Was supposed to have pool view; room located far from pool. Not enough chairs for guests around the pool. Bus tour group shows up (50) there maybe 15 chairs around pool. Like: staff was friendly and attentive, breakfast was nice and staff great

We absolutely loved this hotel - my kids want to move here now. Friendly staff, beautiful property (rooms, common areas looked like they should be in a magazine), lovely and fun pool and hot tub area that a lot of people enjoyed of all ages, large rooms with plenty of space to relax, fantastic breakfast buffet (fresh honey, lots of egg / meat / baked sweets options, juices, fresh fruit galore, etc.) It's at the top of a hill so not right in Taupo, but that worked out even better - it's very quiet and just a short drive or brisk walk down to town. Plenty of free parking at the hotel. Views in all directions were very nice (we had a view of a canyon/park). It's safe, relaxing and felt like fantastic value-for-money given the superior service and offerings of the hotel. Everything was in great condition in the room and hotel.

Great place to stay, nice spacious rooms and heated hot pools. Resteraunt is great for room service and buffet breakfast.

Overall a lovely place to stay but not without some issues. We booked a junior suite which was very spacious but had a small bathroom which was a bit disappointing compared to the size of the other spaces. There is a great text service which goes straight to reception and they get back immediately and answered our questions or brought us what we needed. Fridge is a good size and both kettle and coffee machine with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar and fresh milk sachets in fridge. Sadly our TV did not work properly and we could not access the guest info but reception sent through the room service menu to our room instead. Breakfast is good and has lots of choice, plus you could also order off a menu. The wait is quite long for this service but delicious once it arrived. We stayed for 3 nights and every morning at 9.59am we were reminded that breakfast was finishing and we all felt they were trying to rush us out even though they only brought our ordered food at 9.50am one morning having waited 25 mins. They ran out of English Breakfast tea in the restaurant and the next morning said they still did not have any as the delivery was later that day, poor planning. The pool and spa pool are wonderful. Excellent for both adults and children. Very well kept and clean, lots of staff around tending to the garden and all very friendly. Room service was excellent but sadly the restaurant was not. Very long wait and overall food looks good but was quite bland. Nice hotel but not 5 star!

I couldn’t fault the Hilton Taupo. Lovely spot. The restaurant was really busy and we had to wait for our table, however the manager bought us drinks to make up for this Beautiful food and excellent wine list.

Second visit here. The staff were friendly and helpful. We asked to see the menu for the restaurant and were told it would be on the TV in the room. It wasn't. I ended up walking to the restaurant to get one. Although we booked a King room, the room itself was quite small (NZ$333 per night). In the restaurant our choice of wine was unavailable.We thought the food lacked creativity/style. Ordinary really. Not what we would expect for a higher class hotel. The pool was excellent, and the cleanliness top notch. Stayed this time on the basis of the previous visit, probably would think twice about returning.
