The hotel is in a good location and has recently been refurbished, but I’d question its four-star rating. The refurbishment feels cosmetic rather than considered, with a random mix of furniture and no clear design identity. The room was spacious and clean, but the mattress felt as though it overhung the bed base, making it uncomfortable. The air conditioning was restricted to 22°C, which wasn’t ideal in Valencia. The bathroom was functional, but the shower had poor water pressure and the screen didn’t stop water spilling onto the floor. The all-in-one shampoo and conditioner was bad and felt no different to the hand wash. Breakfast was average and not worth the extra cost. The hot food sat in heated trays, giving it a canteen feel. The coffee was good, and so was the orange juice, although in Valencia I’d expect nothing less. The Wi-Fi was disappointing. After entering a PIN, plus my name, email address and age, I expected a reliable connection, but it was slow and inconsistent. Overall, the hotel feels like it’s ticking four-star boxes rather than delivering a four-star experience. A cheap kettle (without milk), a tiny gym with a sauna squeezed in and other token extras don’t make up for the lack of attention to detail. It’s a decent stay, but ultimately feels more like a three-star hotel with a fresh coat of paint.
