Positives: It's a charming building, big rooms, pool, hot tub, games room, shuffle board, billiards. Lots to do inside the hotel itself! The area is right downtown, a stones throw from the parliament building and Royal BC Museum. Negatives: the fitness center is very small, I think the hotel is charming. The hallway decor reminds me of my 100 year old Grandmas apartment building. Maybe that's not the best aesthetic others are looking for but I found it delightful!

Nice clean room, pool was nice, jets in hot tub have been not working for quite some time I hear. The kitchenette was a good idea, had a nice time, do to unrelated issues we had to leave after 4 of our 5 nights booked. Cheers.

Older hotel, but for the location and the price, I have no complaints at all!! With a family of 4, we stayed in the suite, 1 bedroom plus sofa bed in the living room. It was so spacious and comes with a full kitchen!! It was also a nice surprise to find the many entertainment facilities they have aside from the poo, they got a billiards room, shuffle board, games room with board games and DVDs. The additional gated underground parking was also a nice surprise. Sure, the hotel is older, but it's nice and clean. And the renowned Floyd's Diner is right downstairs!!

Great location. Older style property that has been well maintained. We booked a 1 bedroom suite which came with a full kitchen and separate living space with balcony. Wished we could have stayed longer. Enjoyed the indoor pool and spa. Surprised to find a well equipped games room that even had a piano to tinker on. Would recommend for those looking for a place only a block away from all the must see tourist spots.

We love Royal Scots. The rooms are great and the service is excellent. they have a great pool and hot tub. game rooms a library and a laundry and walking distance to everything wonderful in Victoria. They also have a shuttle service to help you get around town. If you are driving Parking is convenient and you are very close (minutes) to the ferry to Port Angeles.

Room #426 was assigned to me and I noticed a foul odour upon entry. The heat was set to 27°C so I turned it down, opened a window in hopes of airing out the foul smell, and left for a meeting. The room still smelled terrible when I returned, the bed and surrounding areas smelled like urine, so I politely requested a room transfer as I was booked for two nights. I was able to move to Room #444 which thankfully did not smell like urine, but was a downgrade from the amenities in the previous room (we no longer had a balcony, etc). There were other issues such as the shower squealing like a dying cat, everything about the sofabed, and more. Although I appreciated the effort that was put into the basement amenities, the rest of the hotel is very tired. The hallways smell like mildew and 1980's cigarettes, and the rooms smell musty. The lack of care and upgrades to the building are borderline insulting to me as a guest. I have already told my friends, who live locally, that I do not recommend your hotel when they asked about our accommodation. I regret choosing your hotel for my weekend getaway and will continue to stay elsewhere on my routine visits to the city.

We appreciated the fact that the rooms were quite clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating to our needs and that was appreciated. I had the opportunity to use the pool and hot tub, and it was clean and well kept. The one area of concern was the fact that there was definitely a pretty strong odour that possibly be could be mold, that we smelt the whole time. It was there even when we aired the room out. Also, the room was extremely hot. We turned the heat right off and had the windows open. Even with the open windows it was quite warm. But all that being said it would not stop us from staying there again if we could, because we did enjoy the location. It was excellent and we would recommend it to other people, but it would be good to look into what it is. It was causing the mouldy smell. I dictated.

The front desk staff were efficient and friendly. The property is close to the inner harbour for convenience. The parking lot has parking stalls so small that it is impossible to get in and out of any vehicle that is not miniature! The property itself is very clean but definitely in need of modernization. The room was unbearably hot with no AC to provide relief. Our biggest concern was the very poor quality of the bed mattress. We both had sore backs and an uncomfortable night's rest. The basic room has everything you would expect. It is not a place we will return to

Rooms are clean, some minor water damage in the bathroom that looked painted over. Great location but sadly the pool and spa was down for annual maintenance. Room could hear traffic noises that woke me up a few times. Will come back again.

Room was fantastic, but needs an update! Re-covering the couch, chairs, and kitchen chairs needed, as well as updates to flooring, drapes, etc. Loved the balcony and kitchen!

Staff were very non informative which I feel was frustrating. Zero info given upon check In. Didn’t tell us we had to pay for parking. Didn’t tell us if our room was non smoking or if there was any restrictions etc. there is free parking on weekends outside the hotel. This should be communicated. Rooms were clean and huge although very dated. Location is fantastic

The location is excellant and the staffs are very friendly and helpful! My flight got cancelled and I have to stay one more night on Friday. First, the staff at the front desk tried her best to make me stay in the same room possible without moving around. Second, the manager gave me the same rate since I have been there for 5 nights, tahts very kind! Everyone is so nice and friendly, tryed their best to make my stay comfortable. Thanks a lot to those who gave me your hands and tried to make my day when I was in trouble! Million thanks to you!

When checking in, I got excellent, friendly service, pointers on the map about things I might need (ie grocery stores) and she ensured that I would not have to change rooms after I had made two separate bookings. The room was very clean with good amenities in the bathroom as well as a coffee maker and fridge. When I had an issue with my television, they sent up a maintenance person within about 10 minutes. The restaurant within the hotel is fabulous with very friendly staff and excellent food. The hotel is very well situated just two blocks from the inner harbour. I certainly recommend the Royal Scot hotel.

Very walkable to many interesting attractions. (Fisherman’s wharf, Museum, The Empress Hotel, Parliament building, shopping). A very quiet location that was one to three block distance from a variety of eating places. We were able to walk to the pickup locations for the attractions further away. (Malahat, & Bochart Gardens). The connecting restaurant to the Royal Scot was closed for renovation. The hotel was quaint and not fancy, but was very clean and comfortable. It had a small kitchen that was adequate that we used mostly for the mornings. We felt the price was reasonable for a vacation type location. Even though we didn’t use often, the Uber offerings were reasonable and very prompt at getting to our location. There were 3 of us (women) and we never felt unsafe at this location. Not a complaint, but no matter where you stay and unless you taxi or Uber, be prepared to walk up, down and around.

The hotel is older but it’s very well maintained. Buffet breakfast was $25 and the breads and cereals were stale. No menu options. $25 plus tip for breakfast is not good, it’s the same type of breakfast others include in hotel price. Also breakfast starts at 8am, not set up for business travellers.

I would not hesitate to recommend this property. Very clean, very efficient and helpful staff. the attached restaurant was a bonus. Eric and the cortados kept us coming back. Breakfasts were amazing. 5 star all around!

We enjoyed our stay overall, the location is excellent, just a couple blocks away from the various Inner Harbor attractions. The room was bigger than expected and featured a full kitchen. There's plenty of parking on-site, which is an additional charge but better than the nearby public lots. We were a little disappointed by the condition of the wallpaper and lighting though, it would be nice if they could touch that up and get rid of the old fluorescent lights in the rooms. Also the restaurant was closed when we stayed so we had to go out for breakfast.
