It’s a heritage building in a great area. Room was clean but a bit tired and old fashioned. The bathhouse/Onsen area was very small but clean, needs a good spruce up, it looks quite run down, needs some more work to make it more attractive. Breakfast was good selection.

I stayed in the Okura Garden Hotel for 5 nights whilst exploring Shanghai and seeing friends - and have no regrets with my choice. The location is perfect for exploring the French concession area, with a vibrant coffee/cafe, brunch and bar culture - you won’t be able to experience them all! It’s a 2 min walk away from South Shanxi station making travel easy from the airport and to explore further afield. The hotel itself is classic and traditional in style, but still has the feeling of being recently renovated - the pool, sauna and jacuzzi were highlights in particular. If you’re not too keen on staying in a super crowded and touristy location (ie Nanjing Road) and want to experience a vibrant Shanghai neighbourhood this is for you!

Hotel is old ..Rooms smell and are not up to 5 star standards. The gym is horrible.Gym equipment is outdated and hotel tries and charge you for gym. Breakfest is aweful. Pastries are not fresh and the omelets arw not cool properly. This hitel is a low 3 star in my opinion.

One of the best hotels in Shanghai, with a President's and Royal suite that has been used by the big and powerful people on Earth. A few years ago they were overbooked and I got the president's suit (in basic state, of course - if a real president would show up for sure all tapestry and so on would be changed). This time a normal suite. Hotel is somewhat ageing, but still top class - something you pay for, of course. All amenities and staff are flawless. Great garden.

Had to change rooms 3x in one night due to faulty air conditioning in room 1, terrible stench of cigarette smoke in room 2 (in spite of it being a non-smoking hotel). This property is NOT 5 star - rooms are dated and depressing. The location is reasonable. The staff are mixed and speaking Chinese is an advantage if you want to receive some form of service. Would not return.

This hotel is good, I couldn’t tell you why it has a rating of 9.0 on Hotels.com though. Normally 9+ means that the hotel is either objectively exceptional or is remarkable give the price. This hotel is similar in cost to other big hotels nearby that are exceptional, so I don’t get it. Everything works fine although the room is pretty dated. I had a good stay at the Okura and slept well, but this hotel wasn’t exceptional.

The hotel has a lot of history and is located in the former French concession area. The location is great if you want to avoid the mass tourist centers around the People's Square and Nanjin Road. It is nice to walk around in the neighborhood, which is very accessible to a range of restaurants and upscale shopping malls. The hotel itself needs renovation. They have updated the elevator and the room key sends you directly to your floor, and the Japanese toilet is a big plus. However, the carpet needs to be swapped, the bed is not too comfortable, the sink is so low that I feel like I am breaking my back when I wash my face and I am only 5ft4. And the room is very small. For an Expedia VIP, I received zero benefit. They gave two packets of powdered cafe per day. It has been a long time since I stayed in a hotel without a simple coffee maker.

The view from the room( on the 26th floor ) is beautiful. Lounge is the place for relaxing while having a cup of tea with some foods and desserts. There are many selections for the breakfast buffet and foods are tasty. The hotel is in good location——shopping and transportation are walkable distance. Enjoying staying in garden hotel .

Classic place，room is very clean，super quiet at night. location is also good，close to metro. Everything met expectation except had very bad experience in the parking lot on the day of leaving. An intern was using very rude tone to order us to move our car while we were loading luggage. we had an sports car which had two big doors. in order to open the door to move things around from trunk to back seat，we had to back our car a little bit out of parking spot but not blocking the road in any way. this guy rudely asked us park in ignoring we were in the middle of loading luggage. He didn't offer any help . he even criticized our trunk was a mess. Who gave him the right to finger pointing custom's personal items. his card showed 17 without name. he is definitely not fit for a 5 star hotel and should not continue on this position before solid training.

After staying at 2 previous hotel leading up to our we found it a terrible let down Firstly rooms are so small The 32sqm but most of this was taken up with bathroom Staff at check rude Was talking to another staff member about us on the phone and laughing thinking we did not understand Shanghai which we do !! We had a lovely stay at Okura Garden Hotel. The hotel is in a beautiful historic building in The Former French Concession. The location is great with multiple subway lines close by and walkable to many sights. The room and beds were very comfortable as well a nice bath. We would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Shanghai.

Et dejligt hotel, som ligger i det franske kvarter. Har en god morgen buffet. Sødt personale der er hjælpsom, selv det engelske sommetider godt kunne være bedre. Kom sent frem men fik room service og maden blev leverer varm og flot tilbedret.
