Red Lion Inn & Suites Tucson Downtown

It was ok. Hotel said it included breakfast and they were warmed up frozen egg sandwiches with a continental breakfast. Looked like the place was getting fixed up but the new look was not cared for and the cleaning crew were missing spots when cleaning. Pool was nice. No elevator and people were allowed to sit on the stairs which made hauling our stuff up and down awkward.

The customer service was great, Ana the receptionist that helped us with check in was amazing at accommodating our needs. The room was very clean, tv programming was excellent and parking was great. No hassle at all. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I will state the pros and cons: Pros: Staff was pretty nice and helpful. Room was great price for what we paid and clean. Location is decent since right off freeway and downtown Tucson with lits of resturants nearby. We took our kids to a playground that was 5 minutes away. Bed was comfortable and room was comfortable. Breakfast was decent, though my last morning there wasnt any coffee out which was a bummer. Lobby is clean and nice to sit and eat. Cons: Shower is terrible. Water comes out so rough and hard so if you have kids its a rough shower for them. Also its just a shower no tub and its hard to keep water in the shower so the water gets all over the bathroom floor. The listing for this hotel states laundry facility however they currently dont have one, which was partly why we chose this hotel. After long travel and road tripping we didnt want to have to find a facility and leave the premises. When we went to ask about where the laundry was, the front desk stated they didnt have one, we mentioned it was on the listing and advertised, they stated they did have somw but they were taken out and gwtting new ones installed. The listing really should remove laundry facilites as an amentity, that is false adverisement if they currently dont have any. We would have chose a different hotel. If theres a specific amentity you need that is listed I suggest calling before booking to make sure they have it.

Pool no open yet

Rooms are clean, but small. It is a LONG walk from most rooms to the front desk area due to the colossal courtyard (pool is normal-sized). Hot breakfast items run out at some point, so you should get there early, otherwise you'll have to go asking for stuff as I did. No shade in the parking lot, so you can't leave perishables in your car. Massive ants walking around outside the rooms, thankfully they didn't get in.

When I arrived at the property, I was a bit disappointed, it looked nothing like the pictures, I was expecting a clean nice hotel, it looked almost abandoned. The central and pool area was supposed to be some grass or vegetation but was just loose dirt and some patches of dead grass (if grass is hard to keep make it gravel and desert plants, or plant a couple of shade trees and pavers with a sitting area, it would be easier to keep clean and will be inviting for guests) The pool didn't seem to be properly maintained, the skimmer was not removing dead bugs and leaves from the surface (maybe the filters were not maintained as the skimmers were not seem to be moving water properly) The room was nice and clean, plenty of towels and what seem to be clean sheets and nice bed, wifi working properly, the door security latch was broken (room 146) I missed a coffee maker, I saw there was coffee in the lobby, but that meant that for me to get coffee and ice I had to go out and around the parking lot next to the freeway to the lobby and I was not sure if it will be open in the middle of the night, due to being next to the freeway ramp it was a bit noisy, but that is not to the fault of the hotel other than location. What saved the place was the stuff, they were awesome!! At check in and breakfast which was nice; due to the hotel appearance I was expecting a bit less. The staff was quick to restock and made sure nothing was missing during breakfast. Nice room and decent breakfast.

Clean room and pool

Pool was dirty during the summer time when I wanted to take a dip. Besides that it was okay

Was very clean

It was so clean and nice, the beds were AMAZING, we slept like babies!

Floors were filthy, turned our white socks black.

Room Was dirty, found socks in room , stains on sheets and walls , spiders

Carpet was not vaccumed, shower was dirty full of hairs. Won't be back.

Everyone who I have met at the front office is very kind and easy to work with. The rooms are very clean. The bed and pillows are super comfy too. I enjoy my stays when I am in town

Our room smelled like a portapotty even after airing it out for hours, the remote was filthy & the floors were grimy.

The front desk staff was incredibly nice. They were very welcoming. However, the room was disgustingly dirty. I spilled a little bit of water of the floor and when I wiped it up the paper towel was black. You could visibly see the floors haven’t been mopped in a verrrryyyy long time. The bed sheets, blankets, and pillow cases had stains everywhere to the point I had to go buy my own so I could sleep on clean sheets. Coming back to the hotel I also heard gunshots that were so loud that they had to be less than a block away. ( I totally understand that crime in the area is not something the hotel can control) but just throwing that out there so you can think of the area you want to stay in

The price was low. The area is a little rough. The main problem was that the room was so noisy. The walls seemed very thin. The sound of the freeway out front is nonstop. After midnight I woke up when someone above decided to blast music and stomp on the floor. A fair price, but a hotel you can't get any sleep at is pretty useless.

The suite was roomy

Quiet even though it’s next to the freeway. Carl’s Junior in the Parking lot. Close to 24 hour Circle K. Close to downtown area. Big rooms, large property

No hot water in some of the rooms No TV not WiFI

This property has potential, a lot of it, but the Floorplans are really wonky. We stayed in the Junior Suite, which is basically a room thats been cut into two rooms with a strangely designed bathroom in between. The "living room" has a full size sofa bed, a dresser, a 50+ inch FireTV, coffee table, easy chair and desk with an office chair. The bedroom had a very comfortable king bed, two night stands, a 50+ inch dumb tv with Cox, and the kitchenette oddly enough. It feels like the kitchenette belongs in the sitting area/living room and the dresser in the bedroom. The bathroom has been divided into two rooms with a crudely done wall, which isn't even straight. The shower is the same grade level as the floor and is prone to flooding out into the bathroom. As I said, there is a lot of potential here but it's just not that great.

I loved the comfort of the bed. The pillows were super fluffy and very quiet,

Staff was super nice. Room was clean, bed was really comfortable. Air conditioner worked well. Check-in went fast and easily. The hotel has seen better days and looks it. My room smelled very very strongly of cigarette smoke. I would have liked a secondary indoor lock on the door.

The WiFi and tv stopped working after the first couple hours

We were put in a room next to one they were apparently renovating. Was woken up by hammers pounding in the wall at 7am. I called the front desk and she assured me that construction doesn’t start until 9am. It finally stopped after 20 minutes. When I was checking out I said they were definitely doing construction in the room next to ours. She said I know I asked them to keep it down. Not even sorry let alone compensation for that kind of wake up. Will not go back.

Our stay was great. We called ahead and Angel was very helpful in helping us with our decision. He represents the company very well and we had everything we needed when we arrived. Comfortable beds, hot water, fridge and micro, breakfast in am! The location was convenient, the service was tremendous, and the price could not have been more reasonable.

DISAPPOINTING. No fault to Ashley (the only employee on site) I booked way in advance, only to get there to overbooked rooms. The couple ahead got a room with no sheets and no towels. I didn't even get that option. I was turned away to try to find a room during a large event happening in Tucson. Hotels.com found me a room 30 minutes further away and $60 more. VERY DISAPPOINTING WHEN YOU PLAN AHEAD.

Awful check in process and customer service

The hotel was overbooked and the hotel never called us to tell us about the situation plus the employees where rude.

Upon our arrival for check-in at 3 PM, we were informed that our room was not yet ready. The staff explained that they had experienced over 90 check-outs that day and that the cleaning team was working diligently to prepare the rooms. We requested to leave our luggage in the room, and they kindly accommodated our request. However, by 4 PM, our room was still not available. We returned to the hotel around 7:30 PM, at which point our room was finally ready. Unfortunately, upon inspection, we found the room to be unsatisfactory. The following morning, after taking a shower, I wiped the floor with a towel and was alarmed to see it become black with grime. I was concerned about being charged for the towel due to its condition. Additionally, the room had a strong mildew odor, which further detracted from our experience. Given our exhaustion from traveling, we considered leaving the hotel but ultimately decided to stay. Lastly, all the staff were rude and unkind, we felt unsafe. Oh, breakest was toast bread and coffee when i asked if that was all, the bell lady rudely smiled in a sarcastic way.

Easy walk to downtown, the mercado/good restaurants, and like half a block to the streetcar. Being by the fwy (like many other hotels) it was a bit noisy and some of the guests were loud overnight but all and all i was happy with the stay and would come back.

Staff were excellent, location perfect for downtown, restaurants etc and easy getaway to surrounding areas.

Very convenient off the highway and simple breakfast. Ideal for someone driving through Tucson, AZ. Very reasonable pricing, especially if you book it in advance.

The hotel is on the edge of downtown revitalization. The area has difficulties typical of city centers but many opportunities quite nearby.

It’s a nice hotel in a bad area

No coffee in rooms. Jimmy Dean Breakfast sausage was AWFUL. Check in staff was fine. Property needs an update. I am not complaining, the rate was lower and you get what you pay for.

Good hotel for a night or two at a reasonable price. This hotel is located right in front of the freeway and I do recommend to ask for a room on the back side of the hotel to stay as far away from the sound cars make. Could improve cleanness in room. Free breakfast is decent as it is a continental breakfast with good coffee, some bagels and breads, breakfast sandwich, yogurt and orange juice. There is definitely room for improvement but for the price and the attention of personnel it is a decent stay.

The entrance to the freeway was very loud at times. Awesome breakfast.

Good for the most part. Only four compaints. 1) breakfast was underwhelming. There was breakfast sandwhich with a limit of one. Some bagels, bread, cereal, and fruit + coffee and juice. 2) there were ants in the bathroom. 3) sandpaper toilet paper 4) a homeless man came roaming the property and i saw some people hop the fence, so it disnt feel the safest. Overall, it was okay for a one night stay but i wouldn't stay there again

Continential breakfast could be better. Egg muffins are wrapped in paper so likely have been prepared days before use. Even though not many at breakfast the large coffee urn had to be made and a few items were no available. This was a Ssaturday.

Couldn’t get comfortable with only one thin blanket. Breakfast was why i booked, but very disappointed that fruits, granola bars, and Jimmy Dean sausage muffins were gone by 7 and not replaced and the only coffee available was decaf. Variety was good if youeere yhere right at opening.
