Hotel was clean and room was larger than expected. The hotel had no amenities despite claims they did. There was never coffee downstairs, no room service available, restaurant was closed except for breakfast, no microwave in room. $4.50 for a soda from the "market" next to the front desk. Rooms cleaned only on request, even for a 3 night stay. No soap or shampoo, tiny amount of kleenex and toilet paper. No ice machine on our floor. ADA room was very far from elevators. Parking was$50 day and off site. Despite all this, the staff was very friendly.

Minimal hotel, only 1 bistro/cafe/restaurant and only open for breakfast and dinner hours. This location is right in the heart of Chinatown AND downtown so you can find alll sorta of cuisine. Chinatown is dead at night but lots of stuff happening downtown which is a couple blocks away. I took the "AC" bus from OAK airport and stopped at Coliseum Bart station and picked up BART. And stopped about 1 block from the hotel all fpr $2.50.-

For being in this area the property is clean inside and nice. Parking is additional I believe over $50 which isn’t great. The area around has a some homeless and graffiti. The staff was friendly and helpful. Nice little gym and cafe inside hotel lobby.

I wasn’t expecting much. It’s a low to mid level chain and it is what it is, but the valet is a big problem. When I arrived, I needed to pull through the gate to the lot so I could unload a substantial amount of baggage. The valet wouldn’t let me. He literally said “no.” And then things like “valet only.” It didn’t matter how many times I asked to go through the gate a mere 7 feet so I could unload or how much I told him he could take the key right after I finished. The answer was a hard no. So I rang the front desk and they over-rided the valet, who I could barely understand btw. The valet only really only spoke Spanish and unfortunately my Spanish was not good enough to communicate with him in the USA. My bad I guess. Then the desk manager asked me to hand over my key after check in. They were really focused on their rules, after which he explained that the parking lot was owned by a separate company. And then I explained that, to me the customer, it’s all the same. It was a terrible first impression. But there were a couple of heroes in this ordeal. A lady at the front desk saved me and allowed me to pull in that crucial and protected 7 feet. And then there was a desk mgr, who got me a free day of valet ($45 value), which is a ridiculous amount of money for overnight parking. Still, I feel like they should have comped me both nights because that’s how you make sure your customers come back. I don’t think they’re gonna change their ways but, like I said it is what it is.

3 P’s! We got a room that should have been taken out of service, Pool View, Pee smell on left side of bed, Puke smell on right side of bed. They said they’re comping the room but I haven’t seen the credit yet… Bed was good, great water pressure.

The room was on a lower floor so unfortunately the cars on the street could be heard- although that’s not the hotel’s fault. Some of the towels and the couch, as well as the walls had stains which were off putting to see. The walls are also quite thin with the connecting room door. The next room’s ~activities~ could be heard clearly into my room which was very unfortunate. Hotel is a bit older looking inside but at least staff was very friendly. Regularly saw cleaning staff and security which was reassuring.

Everything was great really. But, the AC didn't work in our room. When i told them, they just said they'd make note. But there was no attempt at a sorry for the inconvenience gesture. I mean, a small discount or something would have been appreciated. Knock a fee or two off or something. But, the ataff was really nice, and the inside of the hotel was really clean and quiet.

Door had a big gap on the bottom half - had to put towels in the way for privacy- The hallways had a heavy smell of mariguana (Pot). The guy that checked us in was a bit rude. Asked if I can use the bathroom upon check in, told wait until I got yo my room. - lots of road noise.

Overall the stay was good. The room was clean & nice. My only complaint would be I booked a double bed room. When I got to the hotel they told me the double bed room I got was closed for maintenance? So we got stuck with a king bed and a sofa bed that is the size of a twin mattress. Being that there was 4 of us it made our sleeping situation very awkward. It would have been nice for them to have let us know ahead of time to give us the chance to get another hotel.

Lovely room. Kind and friendly staff. The neighborhood seemed to not be kept up. We took a walk to a burger place and passed areas of trash and smelly waste. Maybe homeless folks? A bit dark at night. Didn’t feel too safe.

Great stay, the front desk people were so helpful. Centrally located easy to get around. We were able to walk to and from the Fox Theatre, returning late at night and felt safe. We walked up the street to the Blue Bottle for Great coffee and breakfast in the morning.

Very central location in downtown Oakland, close to the BART station and plenty of eateries nearby. The surrounding area isn’t the safest, but the hotel security is fairly good and I didn’t experience any issues. No free breakfast, which is something I normally look forward to when staying at a hotel.

This is a nice Marriott. My only real complaint would be the restaurant doesn't stay open all day. It should stay open through the lunch hour, at least till 2:00pm. It's noisy but, it's not their fault. It's located in downtown Oakland.

Excellent stay. The Front desk staff were so nice & helpful with anything we needed. The food at the cafe was delicious and priced reasonably. I will definitely stay at this location again.

We were given the wrong room. The first night we decided to eat at the Bistro which was a huge mistake. We waited 90 minutes for our food only to find out they ran out of what we ordered and substituted the food for something else without telling us. Then for breakfast the next morning they had no one to work so we had to walk to the closest place in 50 degree weather and through and under a bridge where there were several homeless people and it was a tense feeing. Overall the hotel and service was good but was unhappy with the Bistro and original room selection.
