Ramada by Wyndham Oakland Downtown City Center

The experience at the property was good over all, just a short walk to the convention center. The only thing that pops in my mind was the one elevator, which nothing can really be done about that at this point. Other was everything went well, very happy my car wasn't broken into, that was a concern do to the location and the area.

The location wasn’t the greatest but the price for the hotel was pretty good, stayed one night for a concert, room is small but it had what I needed which was all I cared for (bed, shower, small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The pre check in made everything easier for when we arrived at the hotel. Parking was $10 for the night with in and out privilege and $50 damage deposit, they had a fire tv but had to log in to Amazon account to be able to watch something for those of you who would like this information.

Budget hotel- basics are met, clean. Tv wasn’t a smart tv so can’t watch YouTube or Netflix during down time. AC stopped working in room 302, got really hot. Outside is Downtown Oakland so some sketchy people. Parking lot next door is convenient. Lots of restaurants and a Minimart close by. Can hear the street lights beeping at night. Pillows were soft, couldn’t prop up to watch tv. For the price it’s good enough. For a little more I thought the Moxy was updated and comfortable.

The elevator was really slow and they house keep every three days so you have to request service if you want it sooner. But to be honest those are the biggest complaints I could come up with staff was polite and helpful ever in the late late hours. The continental breakfast was nice and the room was comfortable and clean.

The room itself was clean, but the elevator permit was out of date, and the halls and carpet were dingy. The room was tiny- smallest hotel room I’ve ever had. The worst part was the parking. They had “on-site” parking in a unsecured lot with no security guards or surveillance, protected by an open chain-link fence. This was not disclosed ahead of time, and when I got there and learned this, I looked up reviews on Trip Advisor which stated that break-ins happened daily, with one reviewer reporting that his whole vehicle was stolen. Would not stay here again, as the area was very unsafe, with many homeless people and people on drugs roaming.

The bathroom sink didnt drain, took over 20-30 minutes to drain after just brushing our teeth. The bathroom door had No way to stay open and would slam closed. Our only window looked into another window an few feet across from us. The tv took a very long time to connect to their Direct TV cable service(approx 10-15 minutes). At check in we were advised we couldnt use out giftcard for the stay and we also had to pay for parking which was not noted at the time of booking. Elevater is the size of a very small closet, is very slow and sounds very rickety.

Parking is cheap, but the lot is not secured so you are still taking a risk in the end, but you aren’t on the street at least. Included breakfast is sufficient. You can make your own waffles, choose a variety of beverages, and can heat up a breakfast burrito among other things. The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable to sleep in. I originally chose this stay for the cheaper parking. I was very happy with my choice in the end to stay here. A more reasonable stay and fairly priced.

Don’t stay here, my room was the super small, no refrigerator and no air circulation except for the a/c unit in the window. My window opened up to a small alley way so there was no natural light. The housekeeping staff didn’t fully clean my room and there was someone’s dinner jacket blazer left in the closet. They charge $10 for parking but they don’t monitor the lot. They tell you to bring everything inside. The water pressure is super low. It basically trickled out of the faucet sink and the shower. I will never stay anywhere in downtown Oakland again.

As I was packing up to leave, I started to find multiple larvae on the floor in spots throughout the room. The highest I counted was 12.

I’ve stayed here before. It’s always been a no frills spot. I work near here so it’s convenient when i don’t wanna go all the way home and have work early. This time they put me on the 7th floor. It guess that’s the floor where people are living. Trash all over the halls. Food containers and overflowing trash cans. I. Was just waiting for a rat to pop out. They people living there are also inconsiderate. They are loud, obnoxious, and not clean. It was a horrible experience this time. Also it’s downtown Oakland and the parking lot isn’t closed so your car can definitely get broken into in the parking lot.

The service was great. The room was clean. Easy access to what I needed. Only complaint is a weird smell in the hallway and elevator.

It was ok, very small room. There was trash from the previous hotel guests in the trash. The breakfast wasn’t all that great as another Ramada by Wyndham hotel I had stay at previously. The door didn’t fit in the frame and had big gaps so you can hear everything that was going on in the hallway vice versa. Overall you get what you pay for and it did its job but wasn’t very comfortable and cozy.

For the money I paid I was expecting to get a decent sized hotel room but got the room that barely fits one double bed! Other than that the stay was fine- nice bedding, typical continental breakfast served in the morning, friendly front desk staff.

Nice room. Thank goodness it was cold outside because the A/C was broken and did not work. We were able to open the windows to cool down the room. I would stay again if the A/C was repaired. Close to fox theatre where we went for a concert.

The location of this hotel was good. That's the best thing about it. The room's window looked out on to a concrete wall. While it was bright and sunny out, it felt like midnight. Very depressing. The TV barely worked. The room felt so dingy. It was decently clean and I don't think I came home with bed bugs. I would not stay here again.

Great easy check in! Got a room with a King sized bed and was put on the top floor. Wow, for the price the room was great. Spacious, clean and had a nice view of the city - was not expecting that. Was able to park my car in the lot, not attended but with other cars there it made me feel secure. Would definitely stay again if needing a place in Oakland.

Due to my job, I have stayed here over 3 months. Initially I was thinking to stay here only few weeks, however: when my stay extended, I did not want to go anywhere else than here. How can I thank the team. Roy, Yohannes, Manish, Sandeep and Kiara!! The front desk team is amazing. Whenever I had an issue, they have fixed it immediately. I have stayed different rooms, you get what you pay for. Some rooms are larger, some smaller. But overall it’s well maintained. The housekeeping is very realiable. Ruby and Aye always provide the best service. If something is missed, concierge would help it fixed quickly. I felt so safe and secured here. It’s 3 minutes walk away from 12st Bart and there are a lot of restaurants near by. Definetly I would stay here again if I needed to. Thank you team for your amazing effort , and having me here. I can not thank enough.

did not have access to my room during my 4 day stay at the hotel, there was a problem the the room keys and if you left your room you had to wait for an available staff member to escort you to your room to pen your door. the staff did not want to reduce reduce the rate on the room but after several complaints to the manager they reluctantly gave me a $28 reduction in rate which I felt was not enough for this inconvience

The staff was friendly. We were told ahead of time to be careful in the neighborhood after dark because there were some problems. But inside the motel we felt safe. They did well with keeping the guests safe. You had to identify yourself and then you were allowed inside the building. Breakfast was served with various selections that you could warm up in the microwave.

It was upsetting and very scary when my daughter was locked out of the property around 3 AM after trying her room key to enter the building and then calling the designated number (which was not operative) several times per the hotel's instructions before awakening me to assist. The night attendant finally appeared around 3:30 AM and instead of taking accountability, he became irate and defensive as he proceeded to lie, stating he was away from the desk for only 5 minutes. We have documentation to prove that his statement was false. Additionally, he was rude and unprofessional, blaming me for not being able to read/see the faint writing near the door (without my glasses in an unlit lobby) to open the door, which was his responsibility. My poor daughter was placed in a very dangerous situation in the midst of downtown Oakland. We are thankful that God protected her in that frightening situation. We expect the Ramada to make this right, starting with crediting us for that first night stay. Moreover, I did not check all 1 stars because customer service was extremely better on night two, and no issues for my daughter entering the hotel after 8 PM.

The entire hotel had issues with their keycard system (without it being fixed for over 4 days), and the staff had to escort us all the way to our room - which made us wait long periods of time when we wanted to get back into our room after leaving. The room had no air conditioning and was extremely hot. We couldn’t comfortably sleep, so we checked out the same night. The hotel staff did not try to help us in any capacity, stating that all other rooms had been booked and that we had no choice but to deal with the broken air conditioning. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody in the future.

I booked three rooms with one credit card. The breakfast was always the same and very poor. One day they did not clean my room and other day I had to sleep with a cockroach that was alive, when I call the front desk they said they did not have anyone to help me, but they would send a person next day, but it did not happen. But the must terrible thing happened to me with the person in charged of the frontdesk the last day. He was very insulting and rude. He even yelled at me because I did not undestand why they charged US$50 more to one room, during check out and not to the other. That was the most awful experience I had in any travel with a hotel. He said he did not care, I will not come back again. And when I said, that I will review him at Expedia, he got more angry and insulting. He does not have anger managent.

Very friendly staff that went above & beyond during my stay.

I had no problem with my room, I only needed to be able to sleep, the bed was clean and comfortable and I slept well. The front desk, at check in was friendly and helpful. The property is a 1/2 a mile from where I was working, so it was very convenient for me. Downtown Oakland can be a somewhat scary place, but I felt fine inside the hotel.

The complimentary breakfast was good, lots of continental choices including eggs, bagels, wraps, yogurt, toast etc. The only let down is the area this hotel is in. It’s a bit run down, dirty and with some homeless people.

Great place to stay. I would stay here again. Only a couple of blocks from BART. Are around is a little dirty, it’s Oakland though. Police presence is felt to help with the feeling of being safe.

Excellent location to go to the Fox Theatre just a few minutes walk. Overall excellent. We would go back anytime.

I stayed at this Ramada because of its proximity to Fox Theater (10-minute walk or a very short BART ride). This property not only had one of the lowest daily rates, but it’s also a very short walking distance from the 12th Street/City Center BART station and the Oakland Tribune building. The lobby included free coffee and tea, and there’s free breakfast in the dining area across from the front desk. The room I stayed in was clean when I arrived and had everything I needed. I would definitely stay here again the next time I’m in Oakland.

Very centrally located with easy access to the subway, and within easy walking distance of a lot of local attractions. Staff were professional and the room was cleaned daily. Room was very small, but as a single traveler it was perfectly suitable for my needs. Elevator was a bit outdated. Overall this is a good option for a cheap hotel and I would recommend it overall.

OK if you need a place to stay. Neighborhood is not the best.

Property was advertising warm breakfast incleed. There was coffee and cold bagels. When inquired. The assistant stated the management knew about this but was falsely advertising it. There wasn't even a proper breakfast room or place. The place was noisy at night both inside and out.

Not in a bad area just not the best area. Breakfast area very small and not always full selection available. But the rooms were comfortable and clean and made up every day. Strong smell of weed quite often in the property and getting in to rooms

Its was clean quiet and FREE breakfast! A good one too.

This is a functional Ramada, that is clean, quiet and comfortable and that's all. There are no appreciable amenities available, save a basic continental breakfast offered. But for staying downtown in Oakland while you are out doing the things you've planned, it's a great option.

Great stay! Running a budget hotel requires making tradeoffs, and this hotel picked a very good set of tradeoffs. The bed was comfortable enough, the shower was nice enough, and the breakfast was tasty enough, all for a great price. My favorite kind of place to stay.

Clean and comfortable. Breakfast, coffee, tea and cucumber water were nice added touches. Nothing too fancy but fit our needs.
