Great hotel but when we were there the jacuzzi was not in service. I get damn tired of amenities offered but not available!!!!! I also get ticked off when staff says that there is nothing that they can do.

Their self parking is presented very poorly. We were given a hand drawn map from the front desk. We ended up getting a $50 parking ticket from the Durango Police for parking exactly where the front desk staff instructed us. The hotel manage took no responsibility and acted like it never happened to other guests.

Very nice historic hotel with restaurants and bar located in site. Conveniently located downtown and very walkable to shops and restaurants. The only disappointment was the hot tub was out of service for my stay with nothing offered except apologies.

Really beautiful hotel with quaint rooms. Room was clean and had charm. It was wonderful to be able to book the hot tub in advance so you could enjoy that time with just the person you are traveling with. The location is fantastic. Walking distance to everything in the downtown. You could hear the train that passes by during the day but it was a positive for us. We would definitely stay again. Price was reasonable and on par with other hotels in the area.

This is a very nice hotel. It was restored beautifully. If you like historic hotels then this is the perfect place for you. We have discovered that it’s not for us. The elevator was extremely small and extremely slow and the bathroom was small. The staff couldn’t have been nicer.

If you stay here, take time to explore the antiques, pictures, memorabilia all around the lobby and adjacent rooms. Truly a unique, historic ambiance. Rooms outfitted with antiques. However, our room was small; the bathroom was small and the shower tiny. Not a deal-breaker, though. The worst part was the parking situation. There is limited parking near the hotel, and some extra parking a block away. Unloading and getting luggage to our second floor room was a challenge. One elevator that can only fit two people and two suitcases. Location was close to southern Rocky Mountains; a drive to Silverton and Ouray are a must if staying in Durango.

Such a beautiful hotel! You have to reserve a 1/2 hour in the basement jacuzzi! The entire place is amazing.

Everything was fine except for the shower. The drain was clogged, and dirty water floated uo into shower floor. Manager said they would fix it and offered a discount.But she told me that I would have to get it from Expedia, because I booked it through a third party. We laughed, because we know Expedia is impossible to deal with. Recommend that people find things with Expedia, but book directly through a hotels own website, as a result of this bad experience.

Great hotel. The room was very clean and the antique furniture was very nice and the bed was comfortable. Whenever we have a chance to visit Durango, we will stay here. We enjoyed the bar with piano music and the bartenders were very attentive.

Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. Easy walking distance. Only complaint was pillows on bed were too flat and shower was a one person pretty much. Bed was comfy though and ac worked good. The saloon bar was good. The historic value was neat to look at.

Quaint historic hotel with updates. Very nice rooms. Antiquated but otherwise functional bathrooms. Pleasant public spaces. Excellent location for walking downtown and getting to the railroad. Train departures in the morning will wake light sleepers who aren't going. Extensive parking facilities in adjacent lots (free) so don't really have to use your car at all during your stay or be concerned about parking in town.

The hotel is gorgeous and well decorated. The location can’t be beat. We stayed there two nights and couldn’t get a decent night’s sleep due to all the street noise, train noise and other guest noise. As much as I love historic hotels, I will not stay at this one again.

Great location and many great historical displays throughout the hotel. The saloon had great food and great entertainment. The only downfall was the extremely tiny bathroom and shower in our otherwise great room. It was as small as than a port a John! We had a queen & twin bed room as did our friends and their bathroom was completely fine. Parking is limited but free. Would stay again.

Nice historic hotel in good location BUT we were put on the first floor in the back which was a HUGE disappointment!!! Tiny room, barely could move, tiny bathroom, shower for someone under 5 feet tall, window shade had to be kept close as looked into parking lot and building wall. Super uncomfortable. Should have been half the price of other rooms.

This was a nice hotel. Stayed 2 nights. The location is great, right in the middle of everything in Durango. A block from the train station if you are doing that. Right near many local restaurants and bars ( as a side not, you must check our derailed as it is a great bar with great unique drinks ). Now the hotel is old, so the rooms are not very big and do not have a lot of modern features a new hotel would have. Speciically, no regfrigerator and shower stall was very small. But other than that, room was clean, bathroom clean and bed was comfortable. The bar was nice. Had a dinner there and the food and drinks were pretty good and the prices were not so bad. There was live music with a piano player and he was good. Parking was about 1/2 a block away. There is a closer lot but it is right behind the building and only has like 4 or 5 spots. But you can unload and pack up right at the front door. I parked my car after unloading and didn't need my car for the rest of my stay. Overall great place

The parking was very inconvenient and the staff was not friendly. The staff didn't listen at all when we got there. There is no breakfast and 24- our coffee. Also, for lunch and dinner you're only option in the hotel was at the saloon. They didn't talk about the amenities of their hotel or explain anything about the hotel itself. The thermostat also did not work correctly.

Had to walk from parking area which was not close to hotel with luggage. Not ADA compliant. Was not told ahead of time about the water outage that was from 2am-6am. By the time we left at 7am there was still no water! The staff at check in and check out was non caring about the lack of water. They offered no solution to having no water to even flush a toliet. A partial refund would have been nice since it was not a cheap hotel stay!

We ate dinner in the Diamond Belle. Loved it. There was a guitar player. unfortunately, I didn't get his name. His playing was wonderful. My sister and I really enjoyed it. Perfect music for an enjoyable dinner. Not crazy loud and wonderful choices. He also took many requests. The food was also very good. Thank you for a GREAT stay. Beautiful historical hotel. The entire hotel is in period furnishings and the staff is exceptional. They also provide an historian for a tour of the hotel. There’s several eating options on site. We ate in the Saloon and the food was delicious. We are so glad we stayed here

Best location in town! Close to many attractions and the railroad. The hotel is so charming, everything is beautifully preserved. It's a real museum! The saloon next door serves great food and night entertainment was a lovely bluegrass band.

While living outside of Durango for 22 years, I stayed at the Strater numerous times. It was and still is a lovely hotel. When we asked about breakfast, I was a bit surprised to be told that the Strater no longer served breakfast for their guests at all. The reason was blamed on Covid. Really!?! Didn’t that end about 3 years ago? And the staff didn’t seem to care about it, told us there were other places nearby to get something. Oh well, I guess nothing stays the same.
