Guest reviews of Cliff House at Pikes Peak

What guests think

AI-generated summary based on recent guest reviews

At Cliff House at Pikes Peak, travelers highlight a charming historic atmosphere, exceptionally friendly staff, and a prime, walkable location in Manitou Springs, with comfortable rooms that often feature fireplaces, jetted or steam showers, and inviting veranda dining. Parking is mostly valet and typically paid due to limited street options; amenities beyond dining are modest for a historic property. Some guests report age-related quirks such as noisy or inconsistent HVAC, plumbing or in-room features not working, occasional elevator/key issues, and sporadic cleanliness or upkeep concerns. Expect character-rich comfort, attentive service, and a walkable base, with trade-offs typical of a beloved older hotel.

Great hotel in historic building! There is ongoing construction that does not effect a stay and it should be finished in few months.

No one told us that the hotel was under construction so the breakfast area that we normally eat at was under construction closed off there were light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, not fastened when we got to our room. Our room did not have proper AC so they had a window unit installed that looked like it was about to fall off the window. The windows had gaps the AC unit had gaps and bugs were coming in the room. The night stand drawer was off track and didn't work. The place stunk like dirty wet carpet in the hallways, Oh and we were there to check in at 3:00pm but the rude lady told us to come back at 3:30pm because the room wasn't ready. But as I stated before the room was still wasn't ready with damp sheets on the bed and bugs in the room. There were about 3 people in different times at the front desk that were rude to us. We have stayed multiple times here before and had never had these problems. We loved staying here in the past because of the rich history and views, but we cannot stay with our most recent experience. It is such a shame. Also when we asked to be compensated they said they could not.

The hotel is a beautiful 1800s Victorian. The room was awesome with authentic era furniture. The bar on the lobby level is amazing. Dark woods with a fireplace and red velvet chairs. The was some construction going on at the hotel but the staff did well to help the guests navigate around minimizing the inconvenience. Location of the hotel was great with everything you wanted in walking distance. Will definitely look to stay again. Just hope the hot tub in the room is working next time.
