Room and interior of hotel were great as was the location. However, the main entrance is undergoing a renovation which requires you can enter from a side alley or the hotel restaurant. The valet was not efficient as the signage sent me down an alleyway and the staff gave conflicting instructions of where to leave my vehicle. Park in the Washington Post building instead for much less and more convenient.

The room had a good size for 4 people. The bathroom was slightly old-fashioned and the shower and bathtub tabs did not switch with each other properly and the fan in the bathroom was a little weak. The gym is well equipped but small.

Hotel staff and housekeeping were great! We stayed 7 days. This is a great location due to a 5 minute walk to the Metro. It took us 23 minutes to get to the airport on the train. Lots of great restaurants within 5-15 minutes walk. We loved the cold and hot water dispenser in the lobby to refill our water bottles.

Very close to Metro station and very walkable to all the main sights. Accommodation was generally clean and two queen size beds worked for two friends travellung together. Main downside was the poor soundproofing in the room - we could hear all the discussions in the neighbouring rooms. It is an old building so the fitness centre creates a lot of noise that can easily heard, vibrations can be felt from the running machines and the kettle weights. Remember the fitness centre is open 24/7 and you wont be able to sleep through it no matter how deep a sleeper you are!!! For us, we'd paid more for a park view which means you re very very close to rhe fitness centre - & thete are lots of trees between you and the park - so if youre on the lower floors its probably not worth the additional money. Nice to have tne view but that didnt outway the impact of the fitness centre!

Convenient location in downtown DC. Nice old fashioned hotel. Comfortable bed. Nice to have microwave on floor. Valet service was bad: app did not work for the entire weekend, and calling ahead did not help get car. Took over 20 minutes to get the car. Also, the valet we dealt with was arguing with us rather than going to get the car. Toilet clogged, and maintenance was timely and pleasant. Hotel staff was lovely.

Beautiful hotel within walking distance of great restaurants and sites. The lobby and room were very clean, we could smell the cleaning products as soon as we walked into the room. Only downsides were: 1) The elevators were very small and slow. There were 4 elevators but only 2 worked. We were told the other 2 were for staff, but staff were still using the 2 guest elevators also. 2) Outside the hotel doors and throughout the lobby had an overwhelming smell of weed each evening.

The hotel is in a great location and the restaurant attached is wonderful. The rooms are clean. Elevators are ridiculously slow… request a lower room and take the stairs.

Great location close to White House. Only complaints I have is the construction going on at the entrance of hotel and having to use valet entrance coming and going & the $25 fee charge each day as well as parking is $70/day. Thankfully we found overnight parking a couple blocks away for a great price and decided to park our car there for our stay at a fraction of what it would have cost us at the Hamilton Hotel. The building was very clean but our shower had a slow drain from tons of hair build up and there's no fan in the bathroom so it gets foggy and humid unless you leave the door open. There were spots of mold on shower tile because of this. Everything else was great! The restaurant in the building we ate at one night and it was amazing!! For an older hotel building it was a nice stay.

Very clean and excellent customer service. The beds were very comfortable and overall, we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very conveniently located as well. A few things could use updating (mirrors, fixtures), but the hotel is very charming and Via Sophia is amazing!

We were initially booked into a a king bed room prior to our arrival, however when we arrived the room was incredibly small. I understand that the hotel is an older hotel but I did not feel comfortable in such a small room. I was sent an email to share my experience of the hotel check in process. There I expressed my displeasure and disappointment. Immediately I received a personal phone call from the front desk personnel (Sarah) and had a conversation with her. She without hesitation upgraded my room into a king bed suite. I couldn’t have been happier more comfortable! Excellent!!

The lobby and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the room experience was quite lackluster, for a variety of reasons, the main ones being: - When I arrived in the room, the toilet did not work so I had to call for service near immediately which was a foreboding start (although to the credit of the staff it was fixed nearly immediately). - I attempted to watch television upon my arrival but the TV in my room was damaged slightly with faded, splotchy colors at random locations all over the screen. -There was a small fridges present in my room stuffed with paid items, which is common in plenty of hotels. In the case of this room, this fridge (which I never had any intention of interacting with) had three extremely bright lights that could not be turned off which illuminated the entire room and made it difficult to sleep. - Despite the slip in my room touting gigabit speed internet, my internet was so unbelievably slow that I was completely unable to use it beyond accessing my email. Unless those emails had pictures I needed to see or PDFs I needed to download, that was too much.

Room 218, the Air Conditioner did not work. We had to move rooms around midnight to room 231 which was basically a much bigger space. But it had AC. Appreciate the maintenance guy admitting the AC Unit had to be replaced. Would apparently have taken 90 minutes to do. I feel the hotel needs to br ahead of such issues!

Very close to the train & walkable/ or you could rent scooters to many surrounding areas like restaurants, & the national mall. The hotel itself is good, daytime staff are very kind. Night time staff are a bit rude. The rooms are not sound proof, heard people in the room next to us yelling & slamming the door closed back to back one night. Also the hotel itself is a bit outdated in certain areas like the restroom, TV. But it was cozy, pretty clean, & easy check-in/check-out.

The Hotel was quiet and near many restaurants and the metro. We had numerous issues with our room during our stay. We had no hot water in the shower and the toilet leaked all over the bathrrom floor and then wouldnt stop running. After engineering was in the room three different times, we finally were given another room. Until some of the facilities are repaired and reliable, we may not stay here again.

This was an amazing property all and all, however, the AC in our room ruined the stay. The staff did refund 3 of the 4 night stay and provided breakfast for two mornings so that helped with the issue but I do believe that we were consistently lied to about the maintenance staff “working on the issue”. We were told by 3 different staff members it was being fixed and no one came nor followed up. Finally my husband had to call and we got a maintenance person to come up but all he did was change the batteries which I knew wasn’t the issue. Finally after 3 miserable nights the agreed to move us, the Sunday when most people have checked out. The room we were moved to was amazing and the ac worked. Other than the AC issues and being lied to this really is a great property. Try to avoid staying on the 3rd floor if possible.

We traveled with a large commuter van, which would not fit in any of the garages, but the bellman went beyond his scope and found a private and protected parking lot nearby where we could park it for 2 nights. Staff was wonderful, the room was very comfortable, and the food was delicious.

The Hamilton is a beautiful hotel and in excellent condition considering it’s 100 years old. We stayed in the Diplomat Suite which was nicely appointed. I was a little thrown that the only parking available was valet, but that may just be a DC thing. We had an excellent bellman help us unload our bags from the car and take them up to the room. My only gripe about the service was that nobody was at the front desk later in the evening (after 9?) when we called down to let them know we found an emptied box of candy on the mini bar (and wanted to make sure we weren’t charged for it). So I went down to the lobby and nobody was at the front desk - they came after I stood there for a minute or two, looking around. We also didn’t appreciate that the TV remote in the room didn’t function the way it was explained in instructions on the TV. We basically couldn’t get it to work. But after my previous experience with the front desk I wasn’t about to try them again.

The property offered a location with proximity to all major DC sites and convenient access to a nearby metro. Additionally, the water filling station in the lobby provided much needed hydration for our family during the summer weather. The staff were always courteous and helpful even while tending to several customer needs and the maids made sure our room was tidy by the time we returned in the evenings.

The only fail was the valet service! Valet quoted me $29 a night and it was $ 69 a night! I would have self parked if I knew how much it was. Told $29, charged $69! I called to complain, but no one responded to my complaint! A very negative finish to an otherwise nice hotel stay!

We’ve stayed here several times. The location and amenities are great. However, this time the check in associate wasn’t very personable. The valet wouldn’t park our car because we had a bike rack on it, which left us scrambling to find overnight parking. Had drinks at the bar which were tasty and we were able to add late checkout without hassle.

Just a lovely hotel with charm. Crown molding was a plus. Cleanliness everywhere; room, hallways, elevators, lobby…everyday! You could tell they took pride in the up keep and appearance. Location was great. We walked everywhere. Staff was very friendly. Would highly recommend.

It was competent. No frills. Great view of Hamilton Park which was very nice. In house restaurant wasn’t my favorite. It had a very pronounced cleaning smell and the menu wasn’t great. Vibe was lackluster but there is outside seating. Bar had odd sports match on.The front lobby had quite a fragrance too. That was not the case in the rooms.

The food was absolutely delicious! The chef was willing to accommodate food allergies. There was no gluten free options on the menu but chef was willing to make the chicken parm gluten free (They also had gluten free pasta)

The hotel itself was clean and the staff were friendly. However, the restaurant attached messed up our order- not a big deal for one of us but they were made aware of a severe allergy and included that ingredient. When told about it they said they gave me a different order but just replated the contaminated food then rushed us out the door. They also included a gratuity when we were a table of two. 65$ for eggs that neither of us ate.
