The property was ideally located for getting around the city. There was a metro nearby and there were grocery stores nearby. The restaurant at the property was very good. Hotel staff were incredibly helpful and very personable. (The only thing missing were grab bars in the shower.) Overall, everything was excellent. I will definitely stay again in the future.

Great affordable option for families that need a kitchen for their trip to dc. It is a quick walk to the metro and grocery. The neighborhood seems safe and quiet do a city. The rooms are nice but could use some bathroom updates. The ac unit is loud, that would be my biggest complaint and if it matters, there are stairs to get into the building. Parking is a pain, we used spot hero to find a nearby parking garage which was a 10’ walk.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the location was great.The rooms were very clean. It was just a 5 minute walk to the Kennedy Center. We walked after dark at about 7 pm and felt completely safe. 7-11 and restaurants very close by. The only disappointment was that parking was $55 per night which I didn't realize ahead of time.

Our reservation was in the Potomac Suite, at The River Inn. The check in was quick and efficient .The front desk staff are very courteous . The suite was very spacious for a couple. The kitchen is small but adequate. The bathroom is updated quite nicely, attractive, and clean. The bed is very comfortable and the views are various city buildings nearby. The Italian restaurant in the Lobby has a great menu, and I recommend the Greek omelet for a Breakfast choice. The valet service was exceptional and the gentlemen were definitely an asset to the hotel, and appreciated by guests. The location is adequate and only a few minutes drive to see the National Park and the White House.

Perfect spot if you have an event at the Watergate or Kennedy Center. Otherwise, a bit out of the way. Very friendly staff. The restaurant was just OK, but way too expensive.

Everything was great, except the attrocious housekeeping. The handsoap and bodywash were near empty at checkin, and on Day 2, our request to refill them went all day without being fullfilled. We arranged for the room to be cleaned on Day 3, but housekeeping never cleaned. This is the first time at any hotel for which I have left no tip for the housekeeping, but honestly, they didn't do any. I cannot recommend the River Inn and will not stay there again. Too bad, because everything else was great.

Having a full kitchen in the room was nice, but the flow of hot water to the shower was extremely slow and weak. Although generally clean and well-kept, a glass left as clean had lip prints on it, and soap dispensers in the shower were essentially empty.

Nice place. Older but in good shape. There were some areas of the kitchenette that needed deep cleaning but it was nice to have a fridge and sink for sure. The street was adorable with the row houses and I appreciated the valet parking (even if it was expensive).

The hotel was old. The floor in our room was so dirty that within minutes of walking around our white socks were black. The TVs only worked half the time even after someone came to fix it. The outlet where the refrigerator was plugged in kept coming off the wall and we ended up having to throw away all of the food we had in the refrigerator. Plus there was no heat during 50-60 degree weather. They did provide space heaters. The only good thing about this hotel is the staff who were all courteous and accommodating.

This is a vintage property that has been redone so but it’s still quirky and the paint is thick — which is not a problem for me. It’s well maintained. The bed and sofa were comfortable, the linens were good and the staff was really excellent — friendly, communicative and helpful. A for them. I did not need a kitchen since I was there for business but I can see the appeal for vacationers. Ok here’s the downside: I was laying in bed doomscrolling social media one night when a mouse ran out from under the couch. We were both surprised at each other’s presence. I stomped my feet on the floor and it ran back under the couch. Then I picked up the phone and called the front desk. The woman who answered was appropriately dismayed and immediately sent up a key to another room on the other side and another floor of the property. It was my second night so I had to pack everything back up and move to the next room and unpack again so I was awake way too late and wasn’t super fresh in the morning for work. they handled it right. And did not see another mouse or insect or anything else in the other room or in the property, which I found very clean. Hoping this was an anomaly and nobody else notes such an experience in their reviews because i generally enjoyed my stay.

This inn has a mouse problem!!!! One ran across the room as I was relaxing and eating. I was so disgusted and could not even stay. I was worried one had crawled into my open bags. Expedia got me my refund back and I checked out. It was so inconvenient and difficult to find another nearby hotel and cut into a big portion of my free time that I wanted to enjoy my evening in DC. The staff are very nice at this hotel. To look at, the inn is adorable and I had a lovely view from my room overlooking the city in river. But I would not recommend this property.

Great location and clean, spacious room. Check in was easy, room was comfortable and well-appointed. My 5 year old daughter is a particular customer and she had a great stay from the moment she walked in. Only complaint is I booked a queen bed and my room had a full size bed. Really pleasant stay!

I was able to find street parking both days of my stay nearby, but YMMV. The rooms were very nice and spacious, having a full size fridge and stove were appreciated. I did however experience having something someone else was cooking, have it's odor enter my kitchen. The shower head had poor pressure and finicky temperature controls.

I had booked a Queen room in a studio since that was on the best promotion. I called the hotel afterward to see if they could do 2 double beds since I was traveling with my son. Not only did the reservation lady give us a change of beds, she upgraded us to a gorgeous big room with a separate living room and kitchen, no charge. The desk staff were nice, the rooms were cleaned everyday (hard to find), and it's in the best location. Not taking anything away from the hotel, but I would not recommend the restaurant. We had a pretty terrible meal.

The room was great, except it was really cold. I could hardly sleep. The temperature showed 67 (end of April), and I got sick. The only other thing was the office chair, which is not very good for extended work periods. Very nice people. Super easy to get to and from. Mostly quiet. I'd stay again, but I'd need to know the heating is ok

Our room was exceptionally comfortable. Spacious, a kitchen, well-appointed and updated. The bed and pillows were terrific. Shower/tub was clean, and there was plenty of hot water. Shower head was great. Slept very well. Great Foggy Bottom location. Close to the Metro. Easy walk to the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Kennedy Center, National Mall, WW II Memorial and the Watergate. Staff was helpful, courteous, pleasant and informative. We loved our stay, and will be back.

The room was clean and spacious and the staff were super friendly. But I was hoping the room was quieter but you can still hear traffic and construction probably because the windows are pretty old. The blinds and windows could be cleaner too. The Internet speed was slow. Having said all above, I would still rate it 4 out of 5. The neighborhood is nice and relatively close to everything.

We stayed in a King apartment style suite. It was spacious, but certain elements were unconventional. The thermostat system is ancient so it was difficult to know how to set the right temp and keep it there (winter). No towel racks except one on the back wall of the bathtub. But everything else was fine. Not sure I'd stay here again. Front desk was friendly and restaurant staff were helpful, too. Street parking on a Fri night - used meter (until 10pm), left it over night, then woke up early to submit more hours on park mobile app cause meters start at 7am on Sat. Could only 2 hrs though which was fine cause we left for breakfast by car. Valet parking at hotel is quite c0stly but you can have access to car the whole time (in/out privileges). Don't refer to the menu photos on google reviews for restaurant. Go to the website and see the most up to date menu content there.

Charming hotel in a very nice and safe neighborhood. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Valet service was also wonderful. Car was always waiting on us. There’s not much around that is walkable but Georgetown is just a short drive away. Loved our stay.

The unusual thing about the River Inn is literally every employee, front desk, bellman, food service & room cleaning go out of their way to be friendly and extremely helpful. Even the small things, heading toward the elevator? They push the call button. Need hot water? Here it is. Need a recommendation? They ask a couple of questions and you get all the details. Heading for the door? Anybody in the vicinity opens it. Don't see this as consistently at the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton!

I have to say all the good outweighs the two bad receptionist I encountered and one of them I give her a bit of credit because she let me check in earlier than my "paid for early check in hour". But, she was a bit ready to be mean to me at the drop of dime, let's just say it all depended on how I responded to anything she said to me. The second one was a bit annoyed that she had to come from behind the desk to let me in the building because no one told me that I would need to use my key card to enter after 10-pm. This all took place at 10:42 pm.. lol anyway, the room was clean; the floor i stayed in was pleasantly quiet throughout my stay and the best part about it all is there's a full kitchen with pots and dishes. Yes a stove an actual stove. The rooms are spacious and the pillows and bed are comfortable. The valet guy was very nice and helpful i didn't get his name but he is of some sort of Indian descent. Very nice man and the hostess that morning was very nice talkative and helpful. I did not eat in the restaurant but it seems to be a lovely place to dine it was very busy for all three meal and the guest dining seemed very happy having their meals there. If I'm ever back in DC this is definitely going to be my place to stay.

The best part of this property was its staff. The young gentleman at the front desk is truly an asset to the property. Great people at the front desk… and, valet (except for 1) were exceptionally kind and helpful. I walked in feeling a bit nervous. being it was my first visit, I left feeling like family. I WILL be staying here again in the future. It’s set back in a neighboring but easily a walking distance to restaurants and a lovely safe neighborhood bar. As a solo visitor, I felt safe. Ride share and taxi services were also very easily accessible. A full size fridge was a bonus! Clean, and just overall a great experience. The only con I could come up with in the amazing room is its rain shower head. I like my shower with a lot more force… but it’s definitely not a deal breaker. Great location.

Staying at the River Inn feels like home. From the moment of arrival through departure, the staff is friendly, helpful, enthusiastic and genuinely interested in guests having a great experience. Room was clean and had great amenities. It was very quiet despite the hotel being at full capacity and the location is perfect - walking distance to downtown, Georgetown, the metro, Kennedy Center, etc.

The River Inn is conveniently located near a metro station and is close to all local main attractions. There are many restaurants near by, as well as 2 grocery stores. The staff is extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The room was very clean, and well stocked with kitchenware.

Great classy boutique-type hotel in a great area but without the high rate. It's DC, so it is higher than across the river in Virginia, but can't beat the location. Great location, close to restaurants, stores, monuments, etc, also the Potomac and Georgetown. My room had a kitchenette, so I walked two blocks to Trader Joe's for stuff, kitchenette has just about everything you need to cook, but mine has just two sets of stuff Front desk was great, doorman great too. They have bikes you can check out for no charge (depending on avail). I tried the small restaurant for breakfast, a bit pricey (10% more than those a 5 minute walk away) but great for breakfast before heading to airport. Hotel also just three short blocks to Foggy Bottom Metro station. Highly recommend.

This is an excellent location for visiting DC with easy access to the Metro and to Georgetown. The room was very comfortable and the staff was very welcoming and responsive. The restaurant on the property is very good. Definitely a good value and we’ll be back!
