Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle All Inclusive Resort

The best part of me and my husband's birthday trip was the spa, we did a couples massage and it was the highlight of the trip. The lady's were so sweet and very accommodating to what you wanted out of the massage.

The property is nice and clean. Is a newer resort not even a year old so there are no structural issues observed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Grounds are kid friendly but could have had more activities to do for adults entertainment wise (club/lounge) on site. If looking to hit up the beach this location is not for you. The beach area is more on the rougher side and unable to get in the water as a result. There are several pools onsite however that make up for no access to beach. Can always get a taxi to take you to a beach on the side with more calm waters. Food was good onsite with a variety of options everyday.

The resort is fairly new with gorgeous views and beautiful architecture. The rooms are modern, spacious and gorgeous. The hotel was pretty empty during my stay. It was clear though that they may have rushed the launch before completing all works on the compound: 1. A lot staff but they were fairly idle and inattentive 2. A lot of basic drink ingredients were out of stock 3. The main pool was closed for renovations 4. The main dining hall was closed for renovations 5. We're convinved they had a sewage problem, the scent popped up at different areas around the resort but it was especially bad in the fine dining restuarant at Sam Lord's Castle 6. The drainage is poor - the balcony collected water along with the walkway from reception 7. The tiles in oubkic areas are not suitable for the rain and persons slipped 8. The emergency alarm in building 4 went off 5 times over 2 days making everyone evacuate with no one there to guide guests 9. The room was immaculate except for the rug and the ceiling fan. The fan was caked with dust and triggered my allergies. 10. The swim up pool bar is completely empty and waiters from the Grill Bar come by like every hour or you have to flag them down. 11. A lot of flies on the fruit and sushi in the dining hall. They really do need to cover them. Despite this, it's an affordable all inclusive with amazing rooms so would visit again. Just hope they fix the little things.

Restaurant staff and bar staff extremely rude. No onsite convenience store. The pools were dirty. Far from everything. Room service free but is really $25 for the service. No onsite entertainment. Dining staff rude, this was worth mentioning twice! Butler service was good. Food options limited but tasty. Allows late night hangouts with no complaints but need to keep food options and snacks in the 24 hr bar. Need more frequent transportation to other local beaches since this beach is horrible. Need to add more dining options. How can you not get a beach ball, tampons or sunscreen onsite?

Definitely enjoyed our stay and would come back! Hotel was super clean and beautiful. They had activities for the guests to do to keep us entertained everyday. The staff members were very friendly and pleasant. The food was actually good at all 3 restaurants on the resort. Make sure to make a reservation at Castle View restaurant for dinner, food was delicious and our server Julisa was attentive and provided excellent customer service overall. The only downside to our trip which the hotel had no control over was we could not go in the ocean. The tides were high the whole time we were there, but overall great stay!

This resort lacks entertainment, not much to do on the resort at all. Never encountered such Rude staff at an all inclusive. On the beach but can’t swim there. Beautiful place if they did more as advertised.

I visited with my family inclusive of 2 kids under 9 yeara old. I was able to do a couple's spa visit and have their well trained staff look after our kids in the Kids Zone. Our ocean view from Building 5 was scenic and the food options were solid for the two nights spent. I would definitely stay again

Good food, big rooms and nice gym

The food wasn’t great. No variety. Boring. No activities. Can’t swim at their beach, water too rough. They could at least make the beach inviting, clear the seaweed, place the loungers, serve drinks/snacks. Grounds outside my room not well kept. Was there for a wedding. First time in Barbados, last time at this resort

Our 5-day, 4-night stay was wonderful overall. The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful — spotless, well-maintained, and visually stunning. Cleanliness was never an issue, and the food was surprisingly quite good. That said, there are a few things to note. We visited in mid-October, which is apparently a slower time of year. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway, this is perfect. However, for us, it felt a little too quiet, with very little entertainment happening around the resort. The staff were all lovely and kind, but service tended to be on the slower side. The beach directly attached to the resort isn’t swimmable due to rough waters, though there’s a complimentary shuttle to a gorgeous beach called Carlisle Bay, about 40 minutes away. There were three restaurants on site; however, the main buffet offered limited selection, especially for children. I wouldn’t recommend this resort for families with kids, as there isn’t much in terms of kid-friendly dining or activities. Overall, it was a beautiful and relaxing trip — perfect for couples or anyone looking for a calm, quiet escape.

The property was beautiful. The food selection was minimal. Housekeeping needs work-every night We had to request towels. Our room was not cleaned until late afternoon- early evening and even when it was cleaned, they did a poor job.

Room never cleaned without repeated asks. Staircases and hallways never cleaned. Not great dinner options. For a newer hotel it did not feel clean or new.

The property is still being completed. In the morning we could hear construction before 8:00 am. The grounds are still being updated. I’m sure once completed it’ll be beautiful. The rooms were clean and the views spectacular. There is no spa service onsite rather they will arrange a massage in room. Che-Amor at guest service was phenomenal. She made sure we were aware of what was taking place on the resort as these details are not readily available via the resort app. Location is not close to other attractions or night life and taxi service is expensive. Please rent a car or choose this location if you want to relax and do minimal things. Resort arranged airport pick-up $60 for a 15 minute drive. We arranged return airport taxi independently and it was only $30 for two. The beach was full of seaweed & not maintained, water was too rough to enter. Castle View food was phenomenal. Reservation is required and they book up fast. So you may want to consider making multiple night reservations upon arrival. Overall I would return to this resort but only if I wanted to relax and not take in the local beauty of the island.

The resort looked nice. you cant get help from the staff they walk pass you several times. Most of the staff is rude. I Encountered 2 nice staff memebers the whole time The managers don’t communicate. It was black mold in the shower they wanted to spray lysol on it. The Room service was cold. The buffets were mediocre.The toilet seat was loose they came to fix it and made it worse . It smelled in the bathroom they poured something in the toilet and asked me did i smell it still right after they poured it. They ran out of towels and wash clothes. towels for the pools Been to several islands and resorts this is the worst i’ve experienced. It took forever to get drinks i asked 3 people for 1 drink including the manager took 45 minutes to get it. I would not recommend the island Because of the way the staff were at this resort i have a feeling the whole Island is like that. for the price i expected it to be a nice place with friendly staff and for it to smell proper

Staff were so nice, grounds and room was clean! The property is beautiful!!

The room was nice but could have been cleaner. Housekeeping was slow. Our second day on the resort, we were gone from 9am - 5pm and our room still wasn't cleaned. The next day we called to request our room be cleaned earlier in the day. There was trash in the hallways of the resort. Some of the staff were pleasant and a lot had attitudes.

Very clean and helpful staff

We stayed for 5 nights. The property itself is nice the room was large and the room was clean for the most part. The cleaners however left dirty coffee cups and champagne glasses in the room for days and we did not get new toilet paper when it was running low. The rooms also smelt like mold and the toilet area smelt like sewage despite being spotless. The rest of the hotel was very dirty. Garbage in corners. Lots of flies landing on the food in the main dining area and no one seemed bothered. The pool areas were filthy all the time including first thing in the morning. I kept stepping in sticky old drinks all day. There are a few excellent members of staff scattered about. Real top class people. But the majority of the staff were very unfriendly and rude, especially the bar staff by the pools. The hotel is also very loud. There were loads of drunk people talking loudly and shouting at times and on our last night, there seemed to be a party in the pool area below our room with people screaming at the top of their lungs at 3:00am with no staff intervening. The spa is amazing with great staff. Don’t think I will be returning unfortunately.

The hotel is new so obviously the facilities are excellent. The PROS are the food & DRINKS are good, the facilities are new, the staff are generally attentive, the rooms are very spacious. The CONS are that for being far from everything else in the island, it is VERY boring - little to no night activity, boring day time activities, etc. Also, there are TOO MANY FLIES to have the food open in the buffet. This is risky and needs to be addressed as a priority. They can also have more options in the buffet.

We had the best time at the Wyndham. This is such a lovely hotel with lovely stuff, they really can’t do enough for you. Room was spacious and cleaned daily to a good standard. Pools were great especially the pool with the bar ! It’s a shame the beach is washed up with seaweed as this would have been great to use too. Overall fantastic stay and we can’t wait to be back !

We felt like every task took much longer than normal, for example waiting 15-20 minutes each day to get an omelette at the breakfast buffet with major confusion (cooks confusing orders, having to re-do them). Food variety isn’t great, opportunity to improve. Fruit stations were room temperature and not chilled, this is personal preference I guess but I like my fruit to be more chilled especially if it’s pre - cut. Lots of flies everywhere in the restaurants and the rooms, nothing to mitigate it from what we see. Great property, has lots of potential but not quite there yet. Also location is far from the main attractions and the swimmable beaches, paid ~$100USD per day for taxis.

On average we waited 40 mins to be served our order even if it was a portion of fries. Our room was ill equipped on our arrival, no bedroom slippers, hair drier, clothes iron and trash bags in the bins. All of which was requested and delivered after check-in. The trash bags were put in placed during room service later that day. All in all this being a 5 star hotel, it boasts the facilities of such but lacks the diversity in food options, ready to assist and ever present staff (on many occasions you have to look for staff to get a seat at the restaurant or even to check out because they are not at the front desk…etc) attitude. Overall opinion 4 star hotel and 3 star experience.

Tania at the front desk was very rude, and the tone she spoke to us with was very unpleasant, we did not like her attitude at all. However, Vanessa was very lovely, kind, helpful and was very easy to approach.

The only negative experience was with checking in. The attendant seemed very confused because we were a party of 11 under 4 reservations. In addition my room was not ready until after 6 and they provided me with room key for one room and took my bags to another. I expressed my displeasure to the manager but there was no sort of compensation for my discomfort.

The first night was a bad experience some employees was real rude but then we meet miracle she was our server the whole week that we was there she was the best and she made our trip worth coming back and I definitely will be back.

The buffet has something for everyone. The food was replenished and the area was kept clean. The bed was comfy but the pillows was too small for a king size bed. The check in need improvement. It took about 30 mins to get us checked in but they kindly stored our luggage and dropped off at our room. Most of the staff was pleasant. The bartenders was a lil slow making drinks, housekeeping was great, restaurant staff need improvement. They barely greet you drink orders were slow. Overall a nice property though!

I can’t complain, the staff was excellent. Our personal Butler Rashad is extremely professional and courteous. He helped us from the minute we walk in till we left. I will definitely go back.

I will NEVER stay at Wyndham Sam Lord’s Castle again, and I strongly advise anyone else to avoid it. This so-called “all-inclusive” resort was nothing but a disaster from start to finish. When we arrived, nearly everything was closed. Shops? Closed. Activities? Closed. It felt like we’d checked into an abandoned property. For the price we paid, that’s absolutely unacceptable. The food was terrible — bland, limited, and downright depressing. To make things worse, food service completely shuts down at a certain time. If you’re hungry after that, tough luck. How can an all-inclusive resort lock guests out of food? On top of that, the hotel is far away from any other restaurants or food options, so you’re basically stuck with garbage food and no alternatives. Room service? Just as bad. Orders came wrong, cold, or not at all. The staff seemed indifferent and uninterested, as if guests were a burden. Customer service at every level was unprofessional and apathetic. And to top it all off, the air conditioning went out across the hotel during our last night. We were left sweating in our rooms, trying to sleep in sweltering heat. No apology, no compensation, no urgency from the staff — nothing. This place is a complete joke. Between the closed amenities, bad food, restrictive meal times, lousy room service, poor staff attitude, and even broken air conditioning, this hotel is a total failure. Beautiful resort! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was great - good variety. The only negative was the location. There was nothing around the property. Every time you wanted to go to town, you had to take transportation @$125 per trip for 2 people. Inspite of that, we can't wait to go back!!

Beach in the east side is very rough and too far away from all the action.

I loved this resort! It was a little far from our excursions but it was worth it.

Please note the property is far from Ositins and taxi far is expensive.

I travelled here with my boyfriend this past week and we really were excited about this vacation. Honestly, it was fine to stay for our first time in Barbados but if we were to return, we would choose a different property. To start, the location of the hotel is far on the east coast, where the water is rough and you can only go swimming in the pool. This is our own mistake and we should have read more about the location of the property. Given this though, I feel that the hotel should at least offer a shuttle or bus to the west coast— where we went for our beach days— which was about 22kilometers away. We ended up using PickMeUp, an app similar to Uber and spent $50 each way. The property was beautiful and modern but given the “beachfront” location, this would be essential in having guests being able to enjoy the property for pool days, but also have access to the beaches on the west coast for a day trip. The staff at the buffet were often rude and we would have to get their attention multiple times for a glass of water or silverware. The staff at the pools and bars were excellent. The resort was cleanly as a whole, there was no issues with fresh towels or room service cleaning the rooms. It was excellent. Lastly, we were unaware that we had to make reservations for dinner. The front desk did not let us know when checking in, and we showed up to the Castle View without a reservation. Luckily they had an open table.

Only thing I didn't like was how far it was from city

Property is clean, rooms are beautiful but food is not good. Very limited options and that too were not upto the five star standards. Room service had a $25 tray charge which is not acceptable for an all inclusive. Overall it wasn’t an pleasant experience and we will not be returning back to this resort.

The property is very nice. But other than that it’s all. We arrived from our flight a little early and wouldn’t allow us to check in without paying additional fee. I’ve traveled to over 5 countries and never been asked to pay additional fee for checking in a few hours early. We stayed 6 days and our room was only cleaned once! And I had to ask for it to be cleaned and having to ask daily for more towels and our bar to be stocked. The food is mediocre. There aren’t enough food options at the buffet. The food was mostly mildly warm because they only use little flame candles to keep warm. There is only one main dining restaurant and always booked. The other restaurants they advertise are at the bar and beach. If you’re a foodie you’ll be disappointed. Only all inclusive resort we were still hungry at. The highly entertainment was barely nothing. The swim up bar hardly had a bartender. That was annoying to go to the bar to get a drink each time. I would NOT recommend this resort.

Beautiful new buildings. Big rooms with comfortable beds, great shower. Food was very high quality. The filet mignon was high end quality.. However there are two main resterants and one pool eating area so a big lack of specialty variety. The air conditioning does not work well enough. They have high end soaps, shampoos, and lotions but the cheapest possible toilet paper with only one trash can in the large room. Cleaning staff often forget to replenish consumables without being reminded. Sometimes they mop the floor with a dirty mop leaving a film on the tile floor. But things are just starting up and are improving with time. Most staff are very pleasant and try hard to please I'm guessing that a year from now the minor issues will be mostly solved and people will flock to this place and prices will be much higher.

We had an ocean front room in building 5. Our room was perfect, but we never had a hot shower our entire stay. That was unfortunate. We will definitely visit Barbados again, but we will not be staying here again.
