The Arcadian draws praise for its convenient Brookline location by the Green Line and generally clean, comfortable rooms, but reviews repeatedly note trade-offs such as interior, windowless layouts, basic continental breakfast, and extra fees for parking and facilities.

Check-in for our two night stay was routine. When we got to the room we learned the AC didn’t work. A guy came to our room. He was friendly but couldn’t fix the problem. The hotel was full so we couldn’t be moved. At 10:30 pm, when we were in bed, a woman from management knocked on the door and asked my name. I answered and she told me the system showed our’s was a “ghost room”, whatever that meant. I suggested we deal with it in the morning. She responded that that might not be possible and left. After a few minutes, when she didn’t return, we went back to sleep. At about 11:40 pm, several people came into our room. They were guests who had been given keys to our room by the front desk! My wife and I went to the front desk in our pajamas. Turns out when we checked in the clerk totally messed up and gave us keys to the wrong room. Long and short, next day we were moved to a room with air conditioning and we were not disturbed for the rest of our stay. The hotel did waive the destination charge.

This place was great the first 2 days, then it went terrible. The first man and woman that helped at front desk were super nice. The next lady was not helpful at all. Cleaning staff came into our rooms, didn’t clean or make beds, and TOOK our towels. We were stranded without towels and toilet paper. I tried calling front desk for about an hour and didn’t receive any help. I went downstairs and let them know, and they didn’t send anyone up to give us the stuff. Then I went back down to be given it in my hand and they said no that someone would take it to us later. My daughter and I dried off after the shower with a hand towel. I called customer service to request a refund and they were super nice, except they never called me back to give the refund. This hotel was HORRIBLE. I will never recommend it to anyone. Breakfast was cereal without milk and bread. Take your money somewhere else. This hotel was terrible.

Paid for the night before we checked in so our room would be ready at 7 am. I even called twice to let the staff know when we were arriving. After a red-eye flight and being up for 24 hours, they did not have a room ready for us when we arrived. We waited over 1.5 hours. We were told they overbooked the day before. That is not our problem. I refused to pay for the extra night and it was removed from our bill. They did not offer to remove it, I demanded. The box spring did not sit right on the bed frame so the mattress drooped. Continental breakfast was toast, cereal, juice and coffee. Very disappointed with the entire stay.
