Extended Stay America Suites - Meadowlands - East Rutherford

Easy access, near to the mall and parking included, very good location

We stayed at the Extended Stay in order to attend the Cowboys/Jets game at MetLife Stadium. The hotel was adequate, although lacking in some basic amenities. The rooms were not provided with plates, silverware, glasses, etc, despite being a property specializing in "extended stays." There were no vending machines on the property and no sundry store, either. The towels were very thin and frayed. The pillows were terrible. Overall, the stay met our basic needs, but the hotel itself is in desperate need of attention.

It does the job for a quick trip but could use some cosmetic updates. Staff was friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was just coffee, instant oatmeal packs, and granola bars which was a little disappointing. It’s the perfect location if you’re catching a game at MetLife and they even had flyers for a shuttle service which was very convenient. Overall good experience.

Room was clean. It had a full size fridge and countertop burners. Because I could cook, it saved me money from eating out. The staff was friendly too.

It was a birthday getaway for my toddler and when I requested a crib, they didn’t even have one. They should have put that on their website. The lighting was very dark. Cleanliness was horrible and they didn’t even have a coffee maker.

The hotel had a great location and was close to American Dream so we gave it a try. The room was very dated and the ceiling paint was peeling but had basic amenities like a refrigerator and microwave. The included free breakfast was a joke as they only served muffins, cereal bars, and coffee. Overall you'd be better off spending the extra $30+ and booking at a Hilton or nicer hotel if you want luxury/comfort. We also had 2 small toddlers and they didn't have cribs or pack and plays.

Laundry was convenient.

I waited 10 minutes for an attendant to check in. I asked where I should park and he responded “in the middle”. The hotel was run down and when I got to my room there was not a single cup, plate, or utensil. There was no coffee maker or ice bin. The continental breakfast is prepackaged muffins and packets of oatmeal. In the morning I range and waited for an attendant and no one ever came to I gave up and left.

Overall the hotel is fine for the price. And especially if you want to bring your dog. They do not offer cots. Breakfast is only coffee, oatmeal and packaged muffins. Our room phone was disconnected. You need to request any dishes. And bedding if you will be using the couch. There were holes in our ceiling (not leaking, but still holes). A crack in the kitchen wall.

Everything was great except for the shuttle offer to and from the concert. The concert was across the highway. They charged $30 each way per person. I felt that free shuttle service would have been fair. We came for the concert. We won’t be doing it again because of the transportation options… We waited for 2 hours to get back to the hotel which was .5 miles away. That is not the hotels fault. However, if Extended Stay made transportation for their guests easier, we would do this again.

Hotel room was filthy. Stains on mattress. Stain on wall black stains in the bathroom. Extremely dark inside the room and hallways. Saw bugs inside the room. Tried calling front desk and no response. Me

This hotel is awful. There were bugs on the bed and the place is falling apart. The floor in the bathroom was filled with mold and pulling up around the tub. We checked out moments after seeing our room. The hotel still charged us for the entire stay of 2 nights and the "Manager" Chase will not get on the phone with me. I have called several times.

First room was very dirty. Floor hadnt been cleaned. The toilet still had poop in it. We got a different room and it wasnt much cleaner.

Stains on bedsheets, dust and areas uncleaned.

To be fair, the staff was lovely — but they’re basically working in a disaster zone. The hallways smelled like stale urine, the laminate floors were grimy, and the kitchen came with… absolutely nothing. No pots, no pans, not even a spoon. The bathroom? Cracked tiles, toothpaste on the walls, moldy grout, and a peeling tub so dirty you’d rather not touch it. And let’s not forget the mattress that creaked like it was narrating your every toss and turn. The “free breakfast” was a sad handful of granola bars and muffins. Unless you’re here for an ironic travel story, book somewhere else.

The staff was really nice but this hotel was really dirty. Hair and snot on the walls. Stains and damages all over the unit. The fridge had growth in it. We left early due to not wanting to sleep there.

This is the worst hotel/motel I've ever visited. Once you get off of the elevators the hallways smell terrible. It smells like mildew with a hint of old soaked in pet waste. The rooms are not only old and outdated, they are also filthy. The carpet is incredibly stained and almost black from years of dirt accumulating in some large spots. The showers/tub are disgusting. I don't know what the shower walls are made of, but the material was missing large chunks and exposed black mildew and/or mold. The tub looks permanently stained with a greyish ring inside it. The faucet didn't cut off when I turned on the shower so the tub fThe water pressure is low, the shower head is too big and could not be adjusted downward enough to keep the spray from shooting directly on the back wall - which is a bissue if you are short or just dont want your hair wet. The bathroom floor and door are peeling. The outside of the white refrigerator had visible dust and dirt smudges all over it. The microwave has to be at least 30 yrs old! There are no curtains, but the fabric blinds they had on the window is ragedy. THE SHEETS WERE DINGY! They were pilling and had those tiny balls of lint/fabric that accumulates on clothes/fabric when it starts to get old. The sheets are no longer white, they are grey-ish off white color looked like they stopped replacing them and don't use bleach to clean them. Every surface in the room is dirty- the counters, the light switches, lamp shades, the phone...Everything!

Horrible hotel. Rooms were outdated which is okay but they were nasty. Listen ti the reviews because I did not. Between horrible customer service , the roaches, and the horrible smoke smell that sent me to the emergency room it was horrible . It is in a great location but please choose the park at meadows yes it’s more expensive but worth it for peace of mind. I have lodged a formal complaint.

Did not feel clean or kept up, holes and stains on the walls and blinds, the bathroom tub looked dirty and unclean. The photos did not match up with the actual room at all.

room was dirty, the room stunk, lost power in the room over night so the air conditioner and fan stopped working so the room was hot and smelly all night

The room felt like a cell, cold and barren of any design, style or warmth.The furniture seemed like it was all second hand from goodwill. The ‘heat’ would not go above 66. I tried raising the temp on the wall box and it would then stop at 66 each time. This was about 10;30 at night and I was soooo tired I didnt want to call the front desk. There were no extra blankets so I had to fold the ONE thin blanket in half. It felt like I was camping. The highway just outside the room was noisy most of the time which didnt help. The so called ‘breakfast’ was a coffee pot, hot water and a few crappy breakfast bars full of processed food, WTH!

The front desk staff was very nice and accommodating, the building was convenient to Metlife stadium that was perfect for US. The rooms are a little run down pipes rusted in the shower. It was good for a one night stay nothing more .

The rooms had very dated furniture, the shower water came out like a trickle. It had a smell and I found a couple of bugs on the floor. The continental breakfast was old smushed muffins and granola bars in a package...

The beds were extremely uncomfortable, shower had no pressure at all, the sinks did not get hot.

For the area, the price was great. However, the room is dated. The furniture and tv needs upgrades. Further, one of my burners in the kitchen was not working. The tub was peeling so a new bathtub is needed. They offered breakfast but should specify that it’s grab and go muffins and coffee or tea. Not a real breakfast.. Overall, you get what you pay for. This is definitely 2.5/3 stars.

The room was so bad, almost everything in the room either broken or not working. Dresser broken, phone has no buttons to press or even to see who you want to call. The Tv wasn't working, and I call front desk, she didn't offer to help she told me to mess with the tv outlet, then I can call her. The AC very loud and I can't sleep because of the AC sound very very high. One of the elevators wasn't working so it took me a lot of time going up or down.

It was very outdated and needs much improvement with replacement of a good renovation.

Liked proximity to the AD mall and easy on/off highway. Property is very tired and worn, hasn’t been updated in a long time. The stairwells and hallway looked like they hadn’t seen a vacuum in a long time. Most hotels have usb ports to charge devices, not here which makes one think it’s been MANY years since anything has been updated or refreshed

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE! I booked and paid for a room a month ago. When I got to the hotel, they had no room for me! They gave away mine and other would-be patrons’ rooms away. Disgusting. Unreliable. UNPROFESSIONAL.

When I arrived at the hotel I had to wait 45 minutes to check in because the receptionist didn't respond to the bell. I called the hotel directly and nobody answered the phone. I the called the 800 customer service and explained the situation. They tried calling and was unsuccessful after another 20 minutes to get the receptionist. After an hour the receptionist arrived to check me in and didn't even apologize for the rude and horrible customer service. If it wasn't so late, I would have left ,but all the hotels in the area were occupied. I'm going to voice my experience on social media sites because this was a horrible experience & I will not recommend this Hotel again. I was unable to cancel because I booked the hotel through a 3rd party

The rooms were definitely dated, but the staff was amazing!

The lady at the front desk was very nice. She was prompt in helping. The tall guy manager very helpful as well. I think the cleaning service could be better.

I didn’t like that the property is not located near any fast food restaurants or stores that were walking distance. We stayed for 4 nights so we were not able to have housekeeping. We were told the day before checking out that housekeeping only comes if you stay for a week or longer (which is really odd to me). We had to take out our own trash, get our own wash cloths from front desk, and etc… I’m a firm believer in tipping servers and housekeepers well for their service. Unfortunately, I did not tip do to them not being able to service us at all. I was told by guest services manager that I had to take out my own trash, grab my own towels, and toiletries from front desk. Also, our tub was dirty when we first entered the room.

For some reason, the hotel did not receive confirmation from Expedia of our reservation, even though we did get emails confirming everything. We arrived quite late at the hotel and were very tired and surprised by this situation. However, the frontline staff person upon our arrival was very kind and helpful, going out of her way to communicate with Expedia to make certain that our reservation was confirmed and to make our room available so we could go and get some rest. Very much appreciated. And throughout our stay, all the staff was friendly and helpful. PS Great coffee!

The hotel didn’t have my reservation and they didn’t have any more rooms so I wasn’t able to stay there. I had to search for another local hotel.

It’s what I expected. Cheap I was disappointed that I waited for someone to check me in and out. A sign saying they would be back shortly as they are currently assisting another customer. Garbages around the property were overflowing for days and the grab and go breakfast was hardly stocked up. Ran out of items often. Our first room wasn’t cleaned as there were empty water bottles on the counter, garbage in the bins and the bed had clearly been slept in as it was not made. I know I could have stayed at the Hilton right next door (and I would have if it was pet friendly) and I was ok with the budget option. All they needed to do is have enough staff to be at the front desk 24 hours, someone to walk the property every day and empty garbages and someone else to monitor the grab and go breakfast and they would have got the review I thought they would have deserved …. A good rating. Sorry, not this time. Unfortunately I will not use this Extended Stay Hotel on my next adventure.

Easy access to the highway and to Downtown NY

I chose the hotel b/c Expedia noted a 15 min walk to MetLife Stadium. This is NOT true. You are legally unable to walk there because of heavy traffic. There are multiple signs regarding this in the hotel. The hotel itself is absolutely bare bones. It has a mini-kitchen (my room did) but you must ask for dishes, glasses, silverware etc. Holes in sheets, shades and questionable stains. The location was great and i would go again because of that but expectations will be lowered.

Great hotel and convent to American dream and met life for the Chris brown concert.

We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Metlife Stadium. You can see the stadium from the hotel. Crazy thing is NJ has made it so you cannot walk there which defeated the purpose to booking a hotel so close. We had to Uber the 1/2mi at game time rates. Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful but unfortunately the hotel is pretty run down. The rooms were rough and not what I would consider clean. The freeway noise is loud and the "breakfast" is a prewrapped muffin and coffee. Kitchens in the room are old.

Easy access to highway

The place is quiet but NO public transport and NO walking accessibility due to surrounding by freeways. You need to Uber in and out always. Don’t stay here if you frequently travel to NY. Room rate is cheap but est transit fee around 5pm and 9am to NYC is 40-55 on Uber per trip, including tips, so why not sleep in NYC with a better hotel

The place is kind of old and dingy, the rooms have a musty smell, but they are a good size. Breakfast is a grab and go, just muffins and oatmeal. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

We came to town for a Jets game. The hotel was perfect for location and convenience.

Hotel was fine but help out the guest and offer a decent breakfast. Coffee and blueberry muffins are a complete joke!

I didn't like the fact that i played 170.00 for a one night hotel. that stated they offerd a complimentary breakfast and i got coffee and a mini muffin and the receptionist said what do you expect is not the best. But at least you have coffee.

Breakfast could of been a little better maybe some cereal and juice and milk for the kids only coffee tea or hot chocolate but they do have a big refrigerator and a small stovetop so you can make something to eat

The hotel itself was fine, close to American Dream Mall, beds were comfortable and it was clean. But when you only offer 2 kinds of muffins, cereal bars and coffee it feels a little like false advertising when you say you offer breakfast. They didn't even have regular milk for the cereal I brought for my kids. There were zero drink options other than coffee and tea. I literally only picked the hotel because of the breakfast....

Kitchen faucet was very loose (reported it). No glasses, dishes, pots and pans or coffee machine. No grab bars in tub. no non-slip decals in tub or bath mat. Worst breakfast I ever had. their "grab 'n go" was a nutri-grain bar (only one choice) a small blueberry or chocolate muffin that were very dry. coffee was ok but coffee-mate for cream/milk substitute. No juices. oh, almost forgot, bathroom door handle was broken and didn't lock. I forgot to report that (i was alone in the room. desk clock /alarm was an hour fast and couldn't fix it. Nobody was ever behind the desk. You had to ring the bell for assistance.
