Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Erie

During our stay the Elevator was out of service, the 2nd floor ice machine was out of service, the sauna was out of service and the tub in our room was kinda beat up. The continental breakfast was really good and the bed was very comfortable.

Ice machine broken, elevator down I have issues with my back and walking. Holes in the wall in or room. No late check out. Very hard to exchange towels. We stayed for a week and barely could get refreshed towels. Every inquiry was responded by we will see what we can do. We had to clean the shower ourselves before we used it. It a good experience at all.

Felt very clean, free breakfast was good and stocked the entire time. My only complaint was the elevator was broken while we were there but it happens!

This property was very dirty. The fitness center should not even be open! There are many other properties near by. I would recommend choosing another!

Elevator was broken, apparently for at least a month according to staff, without any notice. We were on the third floor with three little kids and no access to an elevator. Baskets of dirty linens and housekeeping carts lined the hallways for our entire stay. A pervasive odor filled the hallway on our walk up to the third floor. Ice machine was non functional. Bathroom had mold/mildew issues. Carpet in the room had gum ground into the carpet. Our room, for some reason, had bunk beds we did not request or expect. Desk staff was not responsive to our concerns at check out, and a manager was not available on a Sunday morning (when I’m sure many people are checking out) to discuss. Hoping further conversation is productive, and will update review accordingly.

The room was large and the staff were very nice. The location was very good. The front entrance door was filthy and peeling. The carpet in the common areas were dirty. Our room had not been vacuumed and there was mold in the tub/shower.The elevator was broken during our 4 day stay. Staff claims parts shortages due to Covid(this is 2025). This was very inconvenient if staying on second and third floors. Many other reviews mention elevator being broken in the past. THIS NEEDS TO BE PERMANENTLY FIXED !! Room was not cleaned, towels not changed, or garbage emptied during our 4 nights. Front desk admitted at checkout that they only perform these duties upon request by the guest. The fridge temperature control was turned to minimum and we didn't notice until hours later when food and drinks were warm. The window clasps were unlocked when we arrived to our room and there are no screens. Since the windows are about 24 inches from the floor this could be a danger for children. It is like a sinking ship and the captain(Wyndham)has abandoned the ship leaving the crew to run the ship without proper equipment.

The elevator did not work so I had to drag kids and luggage and coolers up flights of steps. There was scum build up around the entire pool, both showers in my room were dirty I had to clean them prior to my kids and I using them. The fireplace did not work in my room. Which was part of the reason I booked the room, when I called the front desk, they said it only turns on in the winter so I was upset about that. I was charged a holding fee upon check in even though my room was already paid for prior to arrival, this would not have been a problem however I was not notified in advance in order to properly prepare financially. I will not be staying at this property again in the future. I will take my business and money elsewhere.

Excellent staff especially Jaime and Alex. Very personable and caring. The only elevator was out of service. The ice machine was down, and one of the washing machines was out of order. So some repairs needed. The included breakfast was very good. Spacious room / suite. Good pool and whirlpool.

The elevator did not work and apparently hasn’t been working for weeks and they made no effort to inform anyone prior. It is also a 3 story hotel so that’s not ada compliant. They charge you 250 for incidentals because you book through Expedia and there was never any mention of that in the confirmation email. Sauna did not work, pool was cloudy and didn’t drain around it, jacuzzi tub did not work in room, one working ice maker. The room itself wasn’t bad but you can definitely tell there is no money being put into the hotel. Chipped paint, caulk around tub needs re done, plugs are coming out of the wall, and just overall just sad. Breakfast was okay, but it’s the same thing everyday and they run out quickly. I would not stay here again.

Place was great for full week vacations, unfortunately we were just here for the weekend! Pool and hot tub was amazing!

One of the dirtiest hotels I’ve stayed in - at this price point! Yuck! - The floors throughout the hotel looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in weeks. - The breakfast area was disgusting—the refrigerator and milk carafes were gross and caked with old, sour milk; the counters and tables were filthy and sticky, and the floors under and around the tables weren’t vacuumed between diners. - The pool area floor hadn’t been swept or mopped in ages: there were used bandaids, food scraps and dead bugs all over. - Inside the whirlpool tub in our bathroom, there were multiple cracks and large pieces of the enamel missing, exposing rust.

The entire place was dirty. The shower had a huge crack, wall had ripped wall paper, dents in the refrigerator. The towels and sheets were clean.

Our room floor was dirty. Dishwasher had dirty dishes in. And towels had serious wads of hair.

The shower was dirty ,hair and mold on shower head.

All the staff we encountered were very friendly, professional and courteous. The hotel was very clean throughout from the lobby to the hallways to the room itself.

Staff was nice, checked in at 8-9 pm. Cobwebs in the corners, dirty cabinet doors, not worth the money spent. The pool area looked like a bomb whent off, the breakfast was bad. I never complain about anything. And for the money spent it was a rip off.

Liked the big room

Hotel was a little old but room was nice and spacious and staff was friendly.

Room was not quiet, as the neighbors, particularly upstairs, could be heard. A little noisy.

I loved our suite. The fireplace was wonderful. The sofa was a bit saggy. The room gave my daughter aand I space. Will stay again

The hotel was beautiful! Had a great indoor pool and hot tub. The rooms were much bigger than expected. I would definitely stay here again!!

Staff was very nice and accommodating. There is lots to do around the facility. The room was great for our family of 6. It was like we were stating in a small apartment with the separate rooms ans the full size kitchen.

When we arrived, we waited in line for many minutes, primarily because the manager discussed his lack of job satisfaction with the preceding guests and wanting less guests at the hotel. Once we entered our room, it was 81 degrees inside. There was central air conditioning which was pouring out hot air. There was a small window unit in the bedroom which wasn’t doing any better. Within a half hour, the temperature rose to 83. A little later it was 85. I asked the manager to address this and he said he would call maintenance at another hotel. When I checked later he said maintenance was coming. I asked that if this could not be fixed, would we be placed in another room, one with air conditioning. He said there were no other rooms available. I asked that if that was the case, would we be transferred to a neighboring hotel and he stated that would not be possible. I rechecked again about a half hour later, and the manager stated that maintenance would be here in 15 minutes. I called Expedia support and talked with Ziad. He said that he informed the manager that if the issue was not fixed the hotel must give us a full refund. I checked with the manager again and suddenly a room became available. And, maintenance was too busy at other hotels to come. I asked to speak with a supervisor and left with a promised that she would call me. Never did. The blatant lying soured our stay. The hotel otherwise was ok, a little run down.

Great location near the highway. Rooms were nice. Only complaint was the noise level. Usually doesnt bother me, maybe because we were on the ground floor, but I was awakened by excessive noise every day of our stay. Walls seem paper thin.

The rooms are very comfortable. However, the location of the suite I stayed in was extremely noisy. The door to my room was right across from the main lobby’s elevator, and I could hear all the commotion of the hotel’s lobby very clearly. I had a terrible night’s sleep as a result — ask for a different room if you are given room 114 or 115. Otherwise, it was a nice property.

Everything was good but the elevators was broken. The employees said that the wed site listed as being broken. But it does not. My mother uses a wheelchair. It was hard but slowly we got her up the stairs and down. You have to have a plan for when this happens. At least give people their money back when it comes to an issue dealing with handicapped accessibility.

The young lady that greeted us at check-in was professional, courteous and friendly. The hotel and room were very clean. The young lady at check-out was also professional, courteous and friendly. The staff truly cares about you and your stay. Highly recommend this property.

Do not stay here. We checked into Hawthorn Suites Erie, PA and left within an hour. Room was dirty, AC didn’t work, elevator was broken (not clearly stated on Expedia). I asked the property manager, and she argued it was listed—technically yes, but only buried in guest reviews, not the listing. After that, I started reading recent reviews—20 to 30 since June with the same issues: no AC, broken toilets, dirty rooms, zero service, and the elevator down for over a year. The manager was rude to us and Expedia, but thankfully Expedia had our back. They gave us a full refund and were incredibly helpful. If you’re traveling with kids or pregnant like my wife, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this hotel. Wish we had read the reviews sooner.

There was a huge problem, but the staff was very attentive to it and took care of the matter promptly.

Taylour at the front desk was wonderful! So helpful and went out of her way to accommodate some requests of ours. Thank you for making the last night of a 6 day cross country move pleasant and restful.

After check in we were informed that the elevators were diown due to ‘safety” reasons and we would have to use the steps to the 3rd floor, when we asked for a refund due to this not being disclosed until after check in, staff stated they could refund nor discount us. But still on the website they offer elevators and a handicap accessible property with no update on the elevators being down! Very very dissatisfied

Went for a quick get-away for spring break. We did not want to utilize the attached indoor water park this visit so we loved the indoor pool and hot tub. Especially loved the fact it was basically empty until the water park closed. Went with a 12, 6, 4 and 2 year old and a 2 month old with 3 adults. The 2 bedroom suit with three beds, two baths, pull out sofa and kitchen was absolutely perfect. We previously stayed at a different attached hotel and will definitely be switching to this for future trips. Staff very friendly. Only slight negative was the breakfast area. Just oddly placed and cramped when busy.

Great location

Like others have stated, cleanliness is awful although I did feel the rooms specifically the beds and bathrooms were clean. Pool was disgusting and backed up and was overflowing so all the dirt from the wet floor was going back in the pool. Walls and doors were filthy. Breakfast was average. Amenities were nice and location/cost was good. A nice deep cleaning would go a long way!

Good location and ample of parking

Very convenient, right off the I 90. It does include breakfast with the normal eggs, bacon, sausage and biscuits some yogurt, waffle machine to make your own waffles. Coffee tea juice. The only thing it did not have was fresh fruit so if you are into that remember to bring your own. It’s not a complaint. I’m just forewarning. We stayed mid week and it was very quiet. All the people work in the front desk were absolutely wonderful. Lots of TV channels if you have kids with you, they won’t get bored while sitting in the room.

The hotel staff was great however the hotel itself could use some cosmetic improvements. The location of the hotel is good. Close to food and downtown Erie

The property and its staff were just OK. nothing terrible, nothing great. The location is nice. Next to alot of restaurants and shopping. Although, being next to splash lagoon contributed to it being very busy and noisy

It was a decent hotel for the price. Attach to splash lagoon was ideal. Old but comfortable.

We love staying here. The rooms are generally clean, not overly fancy. The hotel was very busy. Breakfast breakfast was chaotic and limited, and the pool area was absolutely freezing and not heated.

The room was above my expectations for the price I paid. Staff very friendly and the breakfast was well maintained and tasty.

Iiked the pillows. Hated the smell of the kitchen sink and paper towels were terrible. Breakfast ran out often and was cold.

For the overall it was a good stay but the breakfast however was cold even at the start of breakfast hours.

Great check in and service. Room was clean and comfy. We led to believe there would be breakfast but there was a cold breakfast not hot breakfast. Ee were told only hot breakfast on the weekend but the last time we were there durning the week it was hot breakfast. Everything else great.

Hotel was clean and people were kind. Only thing is we couldnt check in until 5 even though checkin was 4. Breakfast was ok not great because they were out of things. Didnt even get a full breakfast. Pool and Hot tub were amazing. Wish they would have had like an adult hour after pool closed.

We had a great stay at this property. The room with the bunk beds was perfect. We used the indoor pool too. The breakfast was pretty good also. Tiny things that could be improved; the pool could use a good scrub; the tile on the water line is dirty but the pool and hot tub itself were nice and clean. Breakfast was great the first morning but there were only a few of us down there. The second morning, it was packed and things took a while to be replenished, full trash cans to be emptied, small things like that. Even with those small things, I still give this hotel and stay 5 stars and I would already told my husband we should remember this one to stay again when we go to splash lagoon.

Stayed in the two bedroom, two bathroom, living room w/pull out couch, and kitchen suite. Very comfortable and quiet. The free breakfast was great - scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, bagels, yogurt, waffles, juice, coffee.

We were staying for a college trip. We were happy with the price, the room, and the breakfast. The pool was also very nice and clean. The breakfast was wonderful and well stocked. We were surprised how much the breakfast offered. We will be staying again. Very good price for the hotel and amenities.
