I called the hotel directly to ensure that the water amenities would still be open while we’re there (the week after Labor Day). However, the water slide was never open during our stay and that was the reason we chose this hotel.

The view of the ocean from the room was beautiful. The hotel itself was dated and needed lots of updating and repairs. Our room smelled musty. The lamp shade appeared to have mold and the chairs were dirty. We had an issue with the card key lock on the door. The battery was dead and we could not get into our room for 2 hours after checking in. During our stay, most of the elevators, except for the North elevator and the service elevator, were not working due to a pipe burst. Also, the hotel did not have water for a few hours due to a scheduled maintenance. We did not have a pleasant experience with Ocean Reef Resort.

House keeping barged into room even with do not disturb sign on door and wouldnt leave started cleaning bathroom even after i asked her to leave. Mentioned all this to management all they said was i will note your account.

Rating is a total fabrication. DO NOT STAY HERE. Hotel is in process of renovation, but this was not stated on the Hotels.com site. The fitness center was also closed for renovation (also not stated). The rooms/floors are open air like a cheap motel. Low quality in every respect except the view (ocean front).

Good ocean view from room. Elevators were slow during peak times. Parking is across the street. Check in was slow. Only 1 person at the counter. I liked the room, and they emptied trash and changed out towels daily. Overall, I had a good stay.

They had a variety of pools, and a breakfast restaurant along with a poolside restaurant. Share was available in the pool area. Access to the beach was also a plus. Room and property were clean. Parking is across the street but each strip is not connected so must turn around to get to the next row. They allow smoking at the front door so had to walk through smoke to get into front door. The noise of opening the slider doors in the unit above was too loud and an elevator kept getting stuck.

We did not have a great experience here. Solo traveling with my kids for a quick beach getaway before school starts. My first interaction with check in process was lacking. It was a bit of a madhouse with parking, loading/unloading. Front desk person was not helpful. Checked in 3:45pm and room not ready- couldn’t give me an estimated time but luckily called me about 30 minutes later that was ready. Our room was the biggest headache. It HAD NOT been taken care of. While it had been “surfaced cleaned”(bathroom clean, linens changed), the room had visible mold, was musty and in general disrepair, carpet/chairs were visibly stained and soiled. I had to contact front desk to change AC unit cover as it had what appeared to be 5 years of dust/dirt accumulated, along with mold/mildew. They did do this quickly. The water options for showers/baths was hot, hotter, or depths of Hades. I feel like it’s usually the opposite problem but no one could take a comfortable shower/bath. They do have alot of pool options for kids and my kids did enjoy them. Although again, appeared to need to be cleaned a bit more. I was a little confused as how our room was in such bad shape but I always saw employees in lobby cleaning. We only stayed 2 days so we muddled through but did leave early. If had been staying longer, I would have requested different room/arrangements. I understand this is a high turnover area and being beach front it stays muggy/wet but this was a little much.

This is the most disappointing experience I have ever encountered. The room was dirty, the smell was unbearable. Broken mirror, dirty stained carpets and furniture, rusty fridge and microwave oven & so much more. We paid for three nights and checked out after 2 nights, as it was simply unacceptable. We also took an extra 41 photos. It was very clear that no care for the rooms or their guests was taken. We as a family unfortunately will not be returning in the future.

Hotel was overall nice. There are many swimming pools both indoor and outdoor with five hot tubs. Very nice and fun for the kids and easy access to the beach. Balcony was big with a nice view. My only concern was the cleanliness of the room. The sheets were stained and the carpet smelled. One of the mirrors on the door was broken off and put to the side. It would have been better if it was clean.

Someone was sent to spray Tilex to clean some off the ceiling. The smell in the room smelled like damp/mildew the whole stay. Housekeeping did not take a replace out towels during our 3 night stay. We had to call for new ones and give them the used ones.

I like the beach area. I wouldn't say I liked the service; the room was filthy and had many things broken, like the sliding door balcony and bathroom door. The carpet smells nasty and dirty—same thing with the bed sheets. I don't recommend it to anyone.

The exterior and interior common properties were very nice. However, the room smelled heavily like mold and mildew. The carpet was horribly old and dirty. Everything I brought smells like the room. The worst smell ever!!!!!!

I have to stay we loved our stay, we have a 3 year old and 12 year old and they loved the indoor pool and kiddie area. What was disappointing was the smell in our room on arrival, we had to do some cleaning because we found trash under the beds and under the couch. The carpet was terrible it turned our feet black so we wore sands and slippers the whole time we was there. The room could use some up grading the faucet in the master bathroom was coming out of the wall and the shower head in the guest bathroom was coming off the wall as well. We couldnt vaccum the floor because someone had vaccumed up vomit from a previous stay before us. I dont think id be back because of the room condition.

Staff was amazing. Room was spacious and comfortable. Beautiful ocean view. Entire resort is a bit outdated but that doesn't really affect the stay. Except for the half broken shower head. Room was clean but the outdated issue didn't really let it shine.

Overall, a fantastic facility that is kept very clean. Parking was easy and convenient but check-in was very long and inefficient. We waited in line for over 40 minutes. The room and beds were very comfortable with everything we needed except it was advertised with a Murphy bed that ended up being inaccessible.

I was expecting a better experience for the price paid. The hotel is outdated, elevators are dirty and some people had hard time to see the faded numbers on the panel. I had to go down 2 floors to get ice due to not working ice machines, balcony door at my room was heavy and hard open and close. Breakfast should be better for the price charged. Parking is a problem, I was out for dinner and had to wait over 20 minutes for an open parking space. Not everything was bad, the hotel is in a wonderful location nice and quiet neighborhood.

Great place. Took two hours to get checked in - it looked like a total mad house. The parking close to the building is always full - There is a parking lot down the street. But, the lot is across from the starbucks. Hard to hate.... A bit of elevator pressure, took 30 minutes to get up the elevator more than one time. Great room , great view. Nice location

Check-in time was at 4:00pm. However, when I attempted to check in at 4:00pm I was told the room was not ready. I was not the only patron waiting, it was at least 5 other families waiting for their rooms to be available. At 4:35pm I asked for the 2nd time if my room was available and it was at that time the desk attendant gave me the key to my room. Standing in the lobby with 2 small children and luggage did not get our mini vacation off to a good start. The desk attendant nor manager on staff offered to compensate the upset families for their time and patience. I was not satisfied with the customer services at all!!!

My recent vacation was unfortunately marred by several issues. We arrived at 3:30 PM, slightly ahead of the 4:00 PM check-in time, only to find long lines extending from the elevators to the front door. Upon attempting to check in, we were informed that our room was not yet ready, which I understood given the official check-in time. However, we did not receive our room keys until 4:30 PM. When we finally received the keys, there were no directions provided, just a booklet with my name and room number.My husband and I then spent the next two hours waiting for elevators and unpacking. As we were getting ready to head down to the beach, another family entered our room while we were changing. Initially, I thought they were housekeeping, but then the front desk called to inform us that we needed to resolve a room mix-up. Confused, my husband and I went down to the front desk, only to be told that we had been given the wrong room. To our dismay, housekeeping had already started moving our belongings because another family had been assigned our room.This entire experience was incredibly disheartening and frustrating, especially given that the mistake was on the part of the management. Our personal belongings were handled without our consent, which was particularly upsetting. The manager tried to gaslight me into thinking it was my fault by asking, "Could you not tell you were in the wrong room?" I had never been to this beach before

Only 1 of the two oceanfront elevators worked so wait times were crazy long. We almost got stuck in the 1 that was working. The folks at the front desk good use some customer service skills as they weren't the friendliest bunch. If you want to go to the pool, get there early or there won't be any chairs available. Parking fills up fast and the overflow lot is hars to find. It's decent for the money, but I think there are better options out there.

parking is a real pain especially if your older people with some health issues we never left hotel for anything because we were afraid to loose our parking spot and have to unload and park in the adjacent parking garage on whatever level we could find. Also we booked and paid ahead with you and arrived the following am and they had given our room away and were told we would be lucky to get a room even though like i said it was paid weeks in advance. Many of the front desk staff are not very nice.

They had a variety of pools, and a breakfast restaurant along with a poolside restaurant. Share was available in the pool area. Access to the beach was also a plus. Room and property were clean. Parking is across the street but each strip is not connected so must turn around to get to the next row. They allow smoking at the front door so had to walk through smoke to get into front door. The noise of opening the slider doors in the unit above was too loud and an elevator kept getting stuck.

Had a wonderful stay at Ocean Reef. I was there for a long weekend and the property was nice and the staff all very friendly. The poolside bar was pretty neat and had decent food and drinks options. Great value for the money.

We were pleasantly surprised after reading few reviews online. We like the hotel and staff ,we took oceanfront room and view was breathtaking. Corridor carpet is way too old but that didn’t bother me as room and view were nice. There is a breakfast place with buffet that was bad , food quality wasn’t great for the price it’s not worth it . I have never seen or had a bad omelette, service was good , food was bad!! Close proximity to beach and we loved our stay !! Thank you !!

This resort was a very nice place to spend a weekend. The swimming areas are very nice except highly chlorinated. Not much to walk to. One restaurant and a Starbucks. Everything else you need to drive to.

The property is right off the beach which is great. The breakfast buffet choices were splendid and delicious. Parking was a bit tricky as its across the street but convenient and free. Didn't use the water rides, but it looked clean and fun.

We always stay at Ocean Reef when we visit Myrtle Beach! We always get an oceanfront room that includes a balcony, and the view is beautiful. Another major plus for us is the breakfast buffet, which offers a huge variety of delicious breakfast foods. The staff has become like old friends, and we're always glad to see them.

I had to be moved a total of four times on my trip. First time the room was not clean at all. Second room was not a renovated room and the room was overly outdated the carpet was pulling up, bed wouldn’t fit on the frame etc. third room had roaches in it. Literally videoed the room as proof and it was roughly 4-5 roaches. I was then moved to the last room on the second night of my stay due to the roaches. By this point I was paranoid and ready to pack up and go home. All that we were given was complimentary breakfast coupons which we refused to use because if there is roaches in the room you aren’t telling me there aren’t roaches in the kitchen. Crazy thing is I stayed at this property once before and had no issues but to pay $242 and be accompanied by roaches is insane! I will never stay here again. What I will say is the front desk people were very nice but roaches is a non negotiable for me.

The property was well maintained and the resort made a great impression the pools were well maintained and clean. The restaurant and bar made the stay well worth the time and and was priced well for an oceanfront resort. The location was central to the beach and parking was a breeze. The property was as well balanced for a large hotel with all you needed in one location. We had a blast.

Ocean Reef was a really good hotel to stay at. We stayed for 1 week and didn't really have any issues. The tub drained a little slow. However, the only thing I would suggest, please invest in a at least a little higher quality sheet sets because the sheets had little "lint balls" on them which made it kind of difficult to fall asleep. We would definitely stay again, I think our grandchildren would love the kiddie pool area.
