The room was great, spacious and comfy and clean. They had a resteraunt onsite and small casino with fun games. A very short walk to the $2 trolley that took you to rhe heart of the town. Great staff

We enjoyed our 3-day stay at First Gold. Everything was close by—the restaurant, the casino, the parking. The food was really good at the restaurant and they had great specials. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again. Price was good.

We were up for the annual motorcycle rally and it worked great for that. Location is very good. No pool and casino only has slot machines, no gaming tables of any sort. People are very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. Limited house keeping during the rally

The rooms have some updates like a nice new sink and vanity. The parts that are not updated(like carpet)are still clean. Bed was comfortable, but we faced the street and the traffic noise is very noticeable until late at night. New windows would solve that problem. Plenty of parking. We ate in the restaurant twice and they had great October specials. Breakfast was very good. The front desk staff, housekeeper, and servers were very nice. For the very inexpensive price of the hotel, it exceeded my expectations! We would stay here again!

Our room was very nice and clean. Although we faced a busy street, we could not hear traffic noise in our room. The room was very clean, and we did notice that the carpets were very clean, even up to the walls. Very well stocked with towels and good amenities. We enjoyed the stay and definitely would stay again when we go back to the Black Hills.

In general，the hotel is ok for it's price. The service and room condition are about the average. But the room is not very clean. I found pill bugs in the towels. Although the hotel is located far away from the center of deadwood，it is close to 76er museum.

We were highly satisfied with First Gold. Our room was nicely updated and clean. The staff at check-in and check-out were very friendly. The housekeeping staff were also friendly, but didn’t speak very good English. We aren’t gamblers, but enjoyed walking through the casinos which were smoke-free. We had great meals at FlyT and Guadalahara. Parking was good.

Hotel was quiet. Rooms were definitely not clean. The carpet was very dirty and the rooms smelled a bit musty. They didn’t have housekeeping staff so nothing was cleaned the entirety of our stay (4 days)

Room was clean, beds were good, plenty of towels, etc. Fridge was pretty loud, as was the bathroom fan. We aren’t in the room much so it wasn’t too much of a bother. Vacuuming the hallway at 8am wasn’t great though, maybe leave the hallway until later in the morning. :) Would stay again.

This hotel needs a lot of TLC. The floor in my room was wavy and soft. Had one evening with no hot water. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I probably wouldn’t stay here again.

The air conditioning would come on and off despite us having it on the mode to continuously run. So the room wasn’t very cool. We were in the rooms closest to the road so it was kinda loud. Very clean though and all around great stay

On check in was informed they were short on staff and if something was needed to let check in desk know, was there 3 days had to ask everyday for coffee, room was never cleaned, trash was never emptied, towels were never renewed, i made my bed and room service had the adacity to leave an envelope for tips, restaurant was good , best part of the stay

In all the years I have stayed at the First Gold, if I arrived early and my room was ready, I could check in. This trip, they were strict on the 3pm check in. I realize they were short on housekeeping staff, but they could have checked to see if my room was ready. I think it would cut down on the long line at check in.

This is the third time we have stayed here during the rally, and it was extremely disappointing. When we arrived, there was a note on the reception desk that they would be back in 5 minutes. We waited for around 7 minutes, but no one showed up. In the meantime, the other staff members in the area just looked at us standing there and ignored us. We finally had to find someone to get a front desk person to check us in. On Sat morning we went down to breakfast. We were told it was a 15 min wait. 40 minutes later we were seated. It then took 45 minutes to get our food. Completely unacceptable. Multiple tables were complaining and everyone got the same answer. It is bike week you just have to accept there will be service problems. Really? It has been going on for 85 years and in that time you cannot figure out how to run your business? We will look for a new hotel for 2026

Booked my room from February, only to walk in and be told that I didn’t have a reservation. Spent almost 2 hours at the front desk. They tried to tell me to leave and call Expedia to get a refund, or book another hotel , right at Sturgis rally, where all hotels are overpriced. They finally pushed me to another neighboring hotel, and didn’t even really apologize , and seemed like I was done a favor when they found a room at an affiliate hotel.

Staff I had contact with were very pleasant. At times they were a bit slow but pleasant nonetheless. Drink prices were exceptional! Location right across the street from the SnoCross races was great! This was the main reason for choosing this property. I do with the trolley stopped there rather than having to walk a block to catch it.

We stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it! We could not have made a better choice, it was very clean and quiet never heard anything but the ice machine. We hated leaving. The people were wonderful, the hotel was close enough to downtown we could walk to fabulous historic deadwood and the price was incredible, I hope to be able to go back again and if we do we’ll be sure to stay here!

We had a great time. Older motel but kept up well. Staff was great. Friendly, helpful. We had a special treat indining room. T bone steak 16 oz. For $12.95. WOW. But only for the month of August. I had 4 nights of great T bone steak. Where else can u get that for $12.95 with salad and veggy. Service was also top notch.
