Courtyard Virginia Beach Norfolk

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed. No fitness area,No breakfast,broken door, construction all over the place. This place should not be on your website. This place needs shut down while construction. Was a terrible experience for me and my son. I can’t believe I spent the money to stay here.

Clean, bed comfy, shower fine, BUT… IT IS A TOTAL CONSTRUCTION ZONE. Fitness center inoperable (see photo), 1/2 the lobby zoned off with major construction happening right now. LOUD CONSTRUCTION Beeping forklifts outside moving renovation materials at 7 AM on a Saturday. Grinding and Jackhammering of tile in the lobby on a Saturday morning while trying to enjoy coffee. Zero signage to find this place late at night. Trash all around exterior of junked sofas. Seriously looks like someone ran into the building at the moment. No ice machine working on floor. Price was a lot considering how so many amenities were not working. Walls paper thin thus things like beeping forklifts outside were more noticeable. Room door was very finicky for keys. Some elements of hotel have been modernized but I would maybe look elsewhere unless the rate is a real steal. I really need to hit a gym when traveling especially with the cold weather can’t go outside so to see they didn’t attempt to have a fitness center available was disappointing. Staff was friendly but again if you’re used to courtyard this was a downer.

Under construction, site should state that before booking. Everywhere you look things are unfinished. Room was nice but no food no gym. Grounds are in need of maintenance, grass over grown.

The hotel room that we stayed in was pretty good. Unfortunately, for our stay they are in the middle of doing a lot of work to the place. Which is great for future stays, just not for this one. There was duck tape keeping the doors open, which made it unsafe. The pool wasn’t open the 1st 2 days & nights that we stayed. It just opened on Sunday, so we feel like we got gipped. The housekeeping staff didn’t speak English, so when we were asking for something it was confusing for us both

The hotel was found to be under MAJOR renovation. So, no restaurant, no bar, no pool, no ice machines, no common areas including the courtyard. Extremely dissatisfied!

Awful, our group had 25 + people staying there, no ice machine working, no breakfast, no gym accessible, laundry was out of order, no towels, no washcloths, no housekeeping in 5 nights of staying! The grass and landscape haven’t been touched in months. I understand they were remodeling which was to be completed in June. Still wasn’t done plus never saw a worker there. So the hotel was a mess and in awful shape. There was a child that pooped in pool and we requested them to clean pool, otherwise not sure if or when cleaning would happen. This hotel should be shut down. I have photos off all the conditions of this hotel. Aswell as the BLACK MOLD we found. I will be reaching out to the manager which I tried while at hotel but was told she wasn’t there and that I would be contacted by her however they never took my name or number.

Comfortable room. Decent amenities in room. Great receptionist/check in, but.... ONLY one washer and one dryer in the entire hotel. How can this make any sense? I was fortunate enough that another guest sho hd two ginat loads to wash, allowed me to go in between his two loads. I then had to dry my clothes hanging them around the room. The washer did a poor spin cycle and if I did not have the heat cranked up, the clothes never would have dried before morning. As it was, my socks were still damp when I packed up.

They were doing renovation, the rooms were very clean and lovely. Just did not have exercise room and it show that they did on the website.

Very disappointing. Under construction and restaurant was not available for use. Curbside appearance was terrible. The parking lot was full of goose poop and tall grass that needed cutting.

On-going property construction, area was not kept clean, elevators were not conveniently placed, no breakfast, no gym - under construction, Bistro Restaurant was under construction, as well. Although, my suite was well appointed and clean.

Place was filthy

The property was severely undermaintained. Overgrown landscaping, broken appliances and hallway fixtures. If I had to stay more than 24 hours I would have changed hotels

I am extremely disappointed that Expedia would offer this hotel on your website. The hotel was not inhabitable. There were less than 10 cars in the parking lot raising a question before I even went in the front door. I went in with an open mind and checked into the hotel thinking that it couldn't be that bad. As I approached my room I walked down the first floor hallway where there was carpet missing, tile missing, baseboards missing and most if not all room number plates. As the room numbers were written on the banged up walls with pencil. I went into my room once going up the elevator and down the hallway on the third for which was equally as terrible as the first floor hallway. Once in my room I went to the restroom and flushed the toilet and the toilet had an extremely slow flush making me think that perhaps it wasn't going to flush all of the way. After three total flushes the toilet paper finally went down the toilet drain. Then when leaving the bathroom I noticed that the peep hole did not have any glass or barrier in it. It was a hole straight to the hallway. It was at this point that I grabbed my bags and and left the building. I did not speak to anyone at the front desk to ask for a refund. I was so uncomfortable that I went straight to my car to leave the parking lot to find a different hotel in town to stay in.

This place was nasty. We had a cockroach one night. The first night we got relocated due to a leak. The fitness center is under construction and not sectioned off. It looks very dirty and not up to par with other marriots. It might get better but who knows... It looks like parts are renovated but not well.

The hotel was trashy - trash all over the parking lot. I already paid for my room a long time ago and they still charged me again for the room - twice for a crappy room not worth $50. Now they say they don't have my credit card on file so they can't credit me - the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel. Bye bye Courtyard, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at the bed was not comfortable cheap remodels it was awful didn't even have a balcony.

It is hard to believe that this is a Marriott property as from the exterior and building the grounds were unkempt. It was disgusting and it will make me question whether I ever stay at Marriott Courtyard again As even walking on the carpet in the room, they were damp. Filthy hotel would never recommend. That place needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom!

Property was not reflective of photos shown. Aside from the obvious renovations (sign posted), hallways were hot with no air conditioning. My room did not contain a trash can as well as the customer greeting on the television home screen showed another guest's name. Also the parking lot was filled with trash. As a frequent guest based on my hotel chain preference, this property was below the standard of the Marriott standard.

The room smelled of mildew. The bathroom floor and shower was not clean. The AC made an awful and loud noise all night. The door clearly had been pryed open at one point and not repaired so you had to struggle to open it.

Horrible stay! Why is this hotel even open? Shut down the hotel, do the renovations, and then open. Hallways smells terrible, room was dirty, patio door did not lock. Will never go back

The hotel was very quiet and the staff was friendly and welcoming at both afternoon and evening hours. The rooms are very outdated and there's kind of a lingering smell when the air conditioner unit comes on. They were renovating so I try to take that into consideration but the room I stayed in had a dirty tub and toilet to the point I was able to wipe it out myself.

Hotel room interior was great, but no internet and no TV cable for 3 days during the stay.

Signage from the street would help visitors locate the property. No bells and whistles. Could not confirm if they were going through renovations. The room was decent. Could use new mattresses.

I got one of the renovated rooms, but the air-conditioning unit in the room was so noisy. It kept me up for most of the night the first night the floors in the reception area were dirty and full of trash. I was gone for the first day and nobody came in and cleaned my room.

I was able to check in a little bit early only come to find out my tv was not working properly. The gentleman at the front desk was able to assist and get the tv working eventually.

Went for a concert , outside looks a little rough but tbh w rooms are being renovated it looks like . Our room was nice and comfortable

A/C did not cool the room properly. Overpriced.

The staff was really nice and accommodating. The balcony didn't lock and the area was not the best but overall will stay again.

Told at 10PM with NO WARNING.. they had no rooms. MIND YOU I BOOKED 2 Weeks prior. Staff was unwilling to help and just looked off in the distance. Hotels.com "customer service" was equally as usless. I called Marriott, they couldnt help with this reservation but we kind enough to book me in another Marriott property that WAS OVERBOOKED. After I had paid a second time. I THEN after calling Marriott AGAIN.. they get me into a different Marriot that finally had rooms.. so at 2AM I finally had a room.. YH2BFKM. NOt sure which is worse, the fact Marriott screwed up or that there was NO WAY at 10PM to get a real person at Hotels.com. THIS IS THE LAST TIME I WILL USE HOTELS.COM

Very comfortable and good price for a two night stay. Staff is very polite and welcoming, had no problems or complaints at all.

My stay had some issues, but the staff was wonderful about resolving them. I would definitely go back, especially after they finish the renovation.

Sydney was great at check in. One of the fastest and easiest check ins ever! Cathy at the Bistro was awesome! Very friendly and personable. Room was nice and clean. AC works nicely was able to make room cold. Shower was a little confusing but water was no e and hot. Bed very comfortable. Slept great

DAZA WAS AWESOME

No-one manning the desk when we arrived sp the wait was awkward. Our room didnt have warm water. We asked the man downstairs to take a look at it and he waved us off like some karen. It was oue wedding hotel so cold showers really made getting ready difficult.

When we arrived the first room they gave us was not cleaned. Bed was not made and it looked like someone was still staying in the room. The second room they gave us was not the room type we requested. The air conditioner leaked soaking the floor. We requested a king bed and sofa bed. They only gave us a room with a king bed. Service at the front desk was horrible. The morning manager was arguing with my wife about the room quality saying “oh that happens sometimes”. Curious how they are charging customers for specific room requests and not giving them the proper room that they are asking for. Never staying here again.

This hotel should not be titled a Marriot Courtyard hotel unless they have reduced standards. It's a bad location and it's a sub-standard hotel for a Marriot. The room was comparable to a $75-$85 hotel room. The hotel and parking are crammed amongst 4 other hotels. The hotel is very close to I-64 and 264 (to the beach), bit that is the only positive. Not terrible, but won't stay there again.

All was good with a couple hiccups. First was finding the entrance... a bigger better lit sign especially when arriving after dark would do wonders. Second was a random and unexpected key card deactivation amidst stay...of course when loaded with grocery items after a quick store visit.

Plenty of parking and close to the interstate.

Hard to locate. Area not detailed well on GPS. Room smelled like dentist office. Limited restaurants.

Reasonable prices good rooms short drive to the beach.

It was fine. Pretty close to ampitheater.

Rooms aren’t renovated to be more modern like the beds, sofa & bathroom so it wouldn’t be my first option but a safe option because it was still decent amenities & offered high levels of convenience to a top golf, sports center & the beach too.

Front desk was not rude but not nice either. There were renovations going on so it was a little loud. Everyone that worked there seemed like they’d rather be anywhere but there. Breakfast service was horrible. I got charged for internet data service and wasn’t even told about it. I must have accidentally clicked the wrong button when I logged on. I was on the internet for about 5 minutes. Not enough to warrant $5.

I did not like spots on the carpet in the room. The walls need to be retouched. I had an issue with flushing the toilet. I called downstairs and the guy came and assisted me right away. I really enjoyed the food at the Bistro

The property is under renovation. While this is a good thing, it creates some limitations. The staff was courteous and available. The room was clean and the amenities performed well (HVAC ETC). There is no complimentary breakfast and the items for purchase are limited. As the property is isolated from other resturaunts, breakfast choices are limited. There is a coffee pot in the room but no coffee, tea or other beverages, other than water, available without cost.
