Quaint shopping, dinning options in walking distance. This is a historic building. That being said, expect loud doors and noisy plumbing. We got very specific instructions at check in. We were told where to park with our hotel pass in car window, if that was filled to go to the lot next to it. We did. Returned to parking tickets 2 tickets.

This property, an old deco building and is in a great location for exploring downtown Brattleboro. The rooms themselves vary from pretty nice to quite dark and unwelcoming, the latter being those that face an air shaft instead of a proper exterior view. The staff are incredibly helpful and were able to get us upgraded to an outside room when we raised concerns about being in an air shaft room. The cleaning staff is extremely friendly and this is a pet friendly hotel and they were all very warm to our dog.

Great hotel with comfortable and clean rooms and a great bar and cinema downstairs. The historical fixtures and fittings make it a special and interesting place. Staff are very helpful and fixed a problem with a TV within an hour.

The Latchis Hotel was the perfect place to stay to see Bob Marley in the attached theater. I lucked out with a parking spot in their lot but it is small. It's a historic hotel so you have to expect an older building. But they've done a great job bringing it up to date. From the hotel it was a quick walk to many restaurants for dinner and breakfast. After the show, I could get back to my room without going outside. Staff was friendly. I definitely recommend the hotel but set your expectations for a historic hotel.

The room smelled like dust and mildew. My daughter had an asthma attack after being in the room for five minutes. It felt creepy with old decor, bed looked like it came from a pullout couch. Had to park in a lot away from hotel, didn’t feel safe. The same random people were standing in the same area from the time we parked until we left.

A great older hotel with a lot of unique character. Whether it's because its pet friendly and needed more vacuuming or there was debris on the roof outside our window both of us ended up with allergies during a very short stay. There was also something gross looking going on in the bathroom tub. We came in late so there wasn't really any staff to tell about it, and presumably these were exceptions. The place is clearly well cared for and unique, sitting on top of a theater and situated in a great walkable downtown.

We have stayed at The Latchis a few times now and it is always a nice place to stay, from the friendly helpful staff to the clean room and amenities. The room we stayed in this time was one we have previously stayed in and it was recently updated with new furniture and it was nice. The location is convenient and very walkable to stores and restaurants in the downtown area. We will definitely be returning to stay at The Latchis again.

Staff was accommodating and helpful. Room was basic, but that was expected due to the age of the building. Clean and sanitized, but definitely needed some “deep” cleaning, like dusting baseboards and taking marks off walls. Overall a good experience and in a great location. Would visit again!

Room was beyond filthy, bed sheets smelled awful. Carpet had stains all over it, windows were broken. No security at hotel, downtown area was littered with homeless and junkies. We stayed for about an hour, we turned our keys in and went home. Very disappointed

We stayed at the Latchis to attend an event. Convenient access to the theater. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is an historic building and a non profit. Fixtures are kept accurate to the building in some cases. Rooms have all the conveniences, great WiFi and super comfortable beds.

Took Amtrak and decided to spend one night in town. Hotel conveniently located to station, local bus, and shops/restaurants. Easily walkable to anywhere you need to go, and movie theater next door had convenient timings. Clean room, comfortable bed, and so much space in the room.

The staff was wonderful. The room was very clean. There was a slight dripping from the tub faucet. I thought the windows could use a second frame of plexiglass to insulate against street noise. Would stay again.

The hotel is old. It is clean, but very dated and worn. I like what they are trying to do, but the probably don’t have the money to really spruce it up. The bathroom was spotless and has new tub tile work. I liked the antique light and medicine cabinet. There are no outlets in the bathroom and only a few in the room. The record player and albums are a cute idea. The th is small with all basic channels, no streaming here. The staff was very nice. Overall a fine stay for one night.

Loved The Latchis! If you are looking for a traditional, hotel-chain experience this might not be your cup of tea, but it is a truly special place. First non-profit hotel I've ever stayed in and I plan on going back. Historical building in the heart of downtown Brattleboro with a vintage movie theatre playing first-run films and great pub with live music in the building. Surprisingly spacious, well-appointed with super-friendly staff. Record player and vinyl in the room. Fun and funky! Great restaurants and cute antique shops right out the front door. The local co-op grocery store is just steps away and the parking was easy and totally convenient. Loved the scenic views of snow covered mountains, even in April. Looking forward to visiting again. So much to do and see.

I appreciate the idea of a kitschy hotel attached to a theater, but the rooms are soo outdated and in desperate need of upgrades. You can’t control the A/C so the temperature on a hot summer day never got below 73 in the room, so they give you a fan. No streaming channels. Furniture ripped and stained. Bathroom is extremely old. It was hard to even reach where you flush the old-school toilet. Our TV didn’t work so we waited a couple of hours for them to send someone to fix it. We checked out a day early due to the hotel not meeting our standards. There is not a coffee maker in your room or coffee nearby. I do not recommend this hotel unless they do some major upgrades. Or at least touch-up paint. And for some reason, any piece of artwork that was in the room was removed and only the hooks remained. Bizarre place charging premium for very old & dingy rooms.

Was neat, clean and comfortable. While there were more historic amenities that remained in place and made it unique, there were still several current amenities as well including a fridge, microwave and plenty of outlets including usb outlets. The location was close to restaurants and things to see and do. The only downside I had read about in a previous review is the road traffic when facing the mountain/street is more than I expected over night. Everything else was great….even enjoyed a show in the theater.

We love to support the arts, but this hotel is not much more than a budget motel. I am not saying to pass it up (let’s be honest, there are no other downtown options), but do go in knowing it will be quite noisy and very simple. It was like walking into Whoville after the Grinch had stolen everything. The room is so barren. The walls were empty except for picture hangers. The bed was comfortable. But boy oh boy is it loud at this hotel (not from fellow guests). The street car noise dies down (we were there a Tuesday night) but that is when the trains start rattling it all. Despite being turned down to off, two fans going and one of the storm windows open, the room was very warm and the radiator really starts bumping. The loud clanging was downright scary. The hotel was nice enough to offer a partial refund, but we declined in effort to support the arts. Go in with an adventurous spirit and maybe ear plugs!

I had to stay outside in the rain because the key that they gave me did not fit my door and there was no customer service at that time of night so unfortunately I slept outside in the rain when I paid for a hotel for me and my family I'm very upset and no one has gotten a hold of me it's been 5 days since I wrote to them

To start off by saying, this is a very old builgind with a lot of grandfather issues. Their is no room service nor housekeeping. Beds and pillows were soft, which in turns makes for a short night of sleep. No coffee maker in the rooms. Ever outlet has a 6 plug power cord in them in turn has 3 or 4 plugs in them. Hotel staff goes home at night, doors are locked. Hugh homelessn groups in the back parking lot. Other then this we were left alone.

Staff was very friendly. Easy check in and check out. We found the parking lot just around the corner without issue. Wonderful location to explore Brattleboro - you can't get any more central to downtown than this. Very cool historic building. Our room was super clean. Would definitely stay again.

I’d rate 10 ⭐️ if I could! I don't recall a more pleasurable hotel stay. You've thought of everything in a very cool 😎 and inviting environment. The place is clean and the rooms retro cozy. Staff are welcoming, outgoing and helpful. I've stayed in so-called high end properties that aren’t nearly so well managed and genuine in their hospitality.

We loved the art deco designed hotel and movie theatre. A gem. And being able to park the car in the hotel parking lot and then explore the bookstores and restaurants on foot was wonderful. We were, however, accosted at every block by aggressive panhandlers. Does Brattleboro not have a humane way of dealing with addicts?

Free coffee was the only amenity I took advantage of and it was just k-cups. Beds were comfortable. Street noise was loud as we stayed in a room right above the main road. People yelling late at night. No parking spots were ever open in the hotel lot so we had to park in an adjacent lot which was only free from 6pm-9am (we got citations at 9:16am) so we had to make sure to leave by 9am each day. In the adjacent lot, there people hanging out drunk, high and screaming obscenities at each other even at 9:30pm. I wouldn’t recommend this for families unfortunately as it does not feel safe after dark. My 9yr old daughter was scared and we didn’t walk back from the car unless my husband was with us. It’s no fault of their own, but the homelessness in the area is an issue. The hotel could get better reviews if they cleaned up the area a bit and took over that adjacent lot. Keeping that lot cleaner and free of people hanging out at night would bring in more business.

Our stay at the Latchis was wonderful! Super cool to be staying in an old art deco building, and we even took advantage of the movie theater a couple of times. Extremely conveniently located in the center of downtown, just a stone’s throw away from the Amtrak station.

The staff who checked us in was great! And the room was okay, the carpet needed swept. The outside area, meaning the people, drug addicts and homeless people were not what we were expecting to see. We thought we were in New Ken, Philly. There was a female bent over due to being so high on whatever she injected. We left and drove home, we didn't want our vehicle destroyed with all our things in it. It's a shame that a historical town and hotel are overshadowed by what we had seen.

This is a unique boutique hotel that is rich in its particularity: every little detail is classy, functional and charming. Local art in the rooms, the history of the bldg integrated into the decor, and views of the CT river and a mountain across the street a great food coop next door. Art galleries and a vibrant downtown at your doorstep. Amtrak? Just across the street behind the art museum. What’s not to love? My third visit and I will be back.

Convenient to the Latchis Theatre, however the downtown area around the hotel has many vacant storefronts, so not really many things to do close by. We didnt feel safe going out after dark. Perhaps those are just first impressions of an out of towner, who with time could have grown to find it quaint. The staff was friendly at both the hotel and the restaurant we found a couple of blocks away.

It’s an older historic hotel. Very neat and staff was friendly. Majority of restaurants were closed due to short staffed or closed in general. There were lots of shops closed/out of business. Not many options for much.

The overall property is nice and staff is friendly. They have a great coffee bar in the lobby. But you won’t sleep past 9am, the street is VERY noisy, and while the older heater is efficient it is loud and will wake you up. If you stay here ask for an upper floor room we were in 101.

The property was located in a great area with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The lady at the counter, VIKKI, was great. Too bad she had to leave during our stay.The hotel is deemed historic… However, there are a lack of basic amenities in room 317 anyway. No outlets in the bathroom no air-conditioning in the room as it’s controlled by a central thermostat martialed by the GM. It was hot and stuffy, and I was told to open the windows which had no screens, so insects and birds could fly in. Also, the restaurant that is located in the complex was closed due to not enough employees able to work. This put a damper on late night cocktails.

It was an enjoyable get away, especially seeing a movie in the old theater. Also, being able to listen to Edward Howard on the record player in the room was a very unique experience and it created a “back in time” atmosphere ! However, fresh coffee, and some muffins or bagels in the morning would be a great addition to this funky little hotel 😃
