SureStay Plus by Best Western Coquitlam

I have never had a more ridiculous hotel experience in my life. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, am not high maintenance, doesn’t take much to satisfy me. What follows is the story of my 3 night stay of repeated problems, and the staff that liked to argue instead of helping with problems. After checking in, we discovered that our toilet wouldn’t flush. We were heading out for my son’s hockey, informed the front desk of the problem, and headed out. Got back at 10:30pm to discover it wasn’t fixed. Talked to the front desk about it again, and was given a new room at 11pm. Was given only one room key and no sleeve with wifi password for new room. Discovered that the new room was visibly smaller. Calmly asked if I would be given any refund for the visibly smaller room and inconvenience. Was subjected to a 5 minute tirade about how the problem was solved and how hard her day was. Next day went by with no issues. 3rd day woke up to a puddle of water on the floor. Discovered it was from the ac unit. Told the front desk, don’t know if they ever fixed it. Just turned ac off. Son needed to do homework, needed wifi password, so went down to front desk. Subjected to argument that there’s no way we didnt have the password already it’s on the key card sleeve…remember we weren’t given a sleeve with our new room. Later that evening came back to find beds not well made, towels replaced, but not stacked properly on the shelf, so one had fallen off the shelf INTO the toilet.

I just got to the SureStay and they tried slamming me with a bunch of extra fees that weren’t anywhere on their Hotels.com listing. I’d just finished moving, was dead broke from the whole ordeal, and my card didn’t even have room for their greedy add-ons. They flat-out refused to give me back the $281 I’d already paid for the night, leaving me and my two dogs stranded with zero options no other room, no Uber to a friend’s place, nothing. The girl at the desk just kept shrugging and saying “it’s not my problem.” Heartless doesn’t even cover it.” Do not stay here. These people don’t give a damn about their guests.

Clean but very worn out. Paint peeling off the walls in the bathroom. Dog friendly.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Booking this hotel has been my biggest regret in my entire vacation! The entire hotel, including our room had such a horrible stench that permeated all our clothes and bags and it’s still lingering, even after 2 whole days! The carpets in the hallways are horribly dirty, the bathrooms and rooms are dirty and dingy, the shower curtains was ridden with mold and smelled of urine, I felt like I could contract something before I left the hell-hole! This experience made me become extra, extra conscious and paranoid about my future hotel choices.

Had a smell that a good cleaning would get rid of. Has windows that open for fresh air. Staff were helpful and understanding when we cut our stay by one night because we had to get home due to wildfires, they refunded one night's stay no problem. The breakfast was great, lots of options, had a hug area with a tv and couches even. The one elevator worked great and was quick, didn't creak or jump.
