The property is very well kept but certainly quite dated. The staff members were all excellent and very helpful. The food was okay but not exceptional by any means although there were lots of choices you could make. The buffet was definitely better than either of the two speciality restaurants. The entertainment was very good however the disco music at night was extremely loud and went very late. The pool and loungers around the pool were a stand out for such a small hotel. Although not perfect I would choose to stay there again.

Staff was great and very helpful. Room was overall clean and staff tended to the room well each day, however bathroom tile, tub/shower, and sink areas were not in good condition. There is no effort to keep birds out of eating areas resulting in birds pecking at deserts and breads being served and customers being pooped on while dining!

The pros: quiet property that is not overly crowded. Cons: we never had hot water while we were here and the pressure in the showers is quite low. The water was like warm, but never hot. The amenities are basic and the “Italian” restaurant was closed while we were there.

Samba is a small property..you can walk anywhere in 3 minutes .The staff is always friendly and professional and it is quiet. By 10:00pm all you hear is the ocean. Perfect !

This hotel is fantastic for families with young kids. We have two kids ages 3 and 5 and the pool set up is perfect for kids of these ages (as well there are pools for older ages, I should mention). There is a shallow little kids pool and waterslide as well as a larger, slightly deeper pool and waterslide set up for the older kids. The Kids Club was also excellent with fun crafts and activities for the kids to do. Really, really nice grounds and although we only made it to one nighttime show, it was excellent and family friendly as well. Great, quiet location in Nuevo Vallarta.

Lamentablemente tuvimos problemas con fugas de agua, ex tapado, nos cambiaron a otra habitación, mejor categoría, pero al Segundo día encontramos una chinche sii una BED BUG. Y para Fumigar nos pidieron estar fuera de la habitación durante varias horas. El personal fue muy atento y amable en cada situación, pero el mal rato y la mala imagen sobre la limpieza permanecen. Ya está descuidado el Hotel En cuanto instalacione.

The property is very outdated. The ac unit was really loud. The rooms are outdated and were not very clean. The whole building had a smell. I went during rainy season so prepare for water drips everywhere. The food was not great at the buffet. The fruit was only thing I enjoyed at the buffet. I will say the reserved restaurants was better. The pools looked dirty. I don’t think they were cleaned.

La atención del personal de todas las áreas muy buena. Pasaron temprano a hacer limpieza y siempre dejaban algún detalle en cuanto a acomodo de toallas. Todos los espacios muy limpios y cuidados. Creo que le falta más elevadores y renovarlos, los baños para el área de alberca son insuficientes y creo que le falta climatizar algunos espacios como restaurantes y lobby, si bien no con Aire acondicionado, sí con más ventiladores. La alberca siempre limpia, mucha vigilancia.

A smaller older property on the beach.Staff and service was excellent.Food was a good variety for buffets.The restaurants were very good. Internet was good.We had a lot of noise at night from the hotel beside us from their nightclub but it would be fine on the other side.Would stay there again.

Always something for the kids to do. Beach out back was really nice. Rooms are spacey but a bit outdated, especially in comparison to the other adjacent properties. Wouldn’t mind staying here again. Was able to save a few dollars by staying at this property. Staff were always helpful and nice. Loved the surrounding areas of Nuevo Vallarta, etc. All the food eaten at this resort was indeed delicious. Would recommend this resort for others as well!

The property is older but the common areas are very nice and being well maintained. The rooms are in bad need of remodeling. Old, old furniture. We were there two weeks and suffered with a room that was next to the laundry (very noisy). One chair, not even a table. No sleep for two weeks. The staff was great. Food was good. Quiet laid back atmosphere. We will not return due to the unsatisfactory room.

Great resort for a family. Kids are 10 and 7, they both enjoyed it as well as us. Resort was quiet and not huge so you aren’t walking miles. Staff is friendly and takes time to get to know you, everything was clean. Food was great, always something for the kids to eat, beach was awesome for swimming and relaxing as well. Coolest thing is the amount of iguanas on the property. So fun to see and watch. Wifi was decent as well. Only cons would be the building is old and outdated but if you can look beyond the appearance this is a great resort for families with lots of kids running around. Also, there wasn’t a whole bunch of activities from the staff like most resorts (volleyball/water polo, etc), but that could have been due to not as many people around the pool at those times when they were supposed to start.

We have been using this resort for 25 years because it is small, quiet, great staff, and relaxing. Yes, the property is a bit dated but the rooms are fine and the beds comfortable. We will continue to take our winter vacations here because we are happy here!

La recepción fue pésima. Al recibir la habitación no era la que tenía yo en mi contrato, fui a pedir una de 2 camas y me dijeron que no tenían, que esperara al supervisor. Se hacían tontos. Fui de nuevo y que no tenían. Hasta que lo pedí por escrito y me vieron molesta entonces me asignaron lo que había pedido. La habitación me la entregaron después de las 4 pm (se supone que era a las 3). La habitación deteriorada, no tiene respiradero en el baño, huele mal, le falta mantenimiento. El servicio de meseros y personal de limpieza muy amable. Los alimentos de buen sabor y calidad. Bien los restaurantes en servicio, calidad y sabor. Las bebidas de barra pueden mejorar.

The staff were wonderful, hotel is dated rooms and all need updating. I went with familiar members would be nice to have single traveller prices. Beach was excellent you could walk for miles. The conceriege was giving us trouble with late check out due to later flight, he wasnt very accomodating as information continuely changed

At our arrival the parking lot personal was very attentive and courteous, the hostess who assisted us during the check-in was very professional and super friendly. The personal in charge of the buffet were outstanding, even the cleaning crew super polite and friendly.

A group of us have been coming here for 22 years and we love it.The hotel is a smaller older hotel.It is showing its age but it is clean and looked after.The staff are excellent friendly and helpful.They are the main reason we keep returning. There are two a la carte restaurants and the main buffet.I have always found something good to eat. We look forward to returning next year.

We have been going to the Samba for over twenty years and as always the staff was excellent and the food is sometimes not so great our biggest problem is the management at the front desk there is a lot of turn over and they never remember us even though we go with a large group the rest of the staff remember us and we are friends with them but the front desk is always disappointing. But here’s a salute to some special staff Salvador, Carlos, Genaro, Juan, Norma, Yadira, Ernesto you all do a great job!!!

This was our first time staying in Mexico and we chose the Samba based on friends who have stayed there before (they also joined us). The service is above average in my opinion, with there being some stand outs we interacted with - Gilberto, Salvador, Antonio & Iori making it just that much more fun and entertaining, so thank you to them!! The food was really great and the bbq night in the buffet was my fav. The beach and pool areas were not crowded at all this time of year in early Dec...which was a plus. There was a bit of surf/wave action, but once you got just past it, most people would be fine. We got to see some dolphins and whales from the beach out front! The rooms could use some updates for sure, but the bed was comfortable and it was clean. Our room had some issues with water temperature in the shower, but we didn't address it (would really be my only complaint). Overall, I would def recommend the Samba for anyone travelling to Nuevo Vallarta who is looking for a budget friendly and service oriented stay...we'll be back!

Property is outdated as in an Older building / rooms and bathroom . Only one snack bar in between meal times and the snacks were a 3/10 Not much of activity / entertainment during the day expect the nightly show at 9 pm for 45 minutes or so. The water aerobics they had during the day was mostly in the local language so it was hard for us to understand or enjoy it At the end of the stay , the bell boy tried to hustle us but trying to triple the price of the taxi fare to the airport . We stood our ground for about 15 mins and we managed to get our own taxi for the price it’s supposed to be

We went to the Samba because of the price and it's what you'd expect from a budget resort. The beach was fantastic which is where we spent most of our time. The food was ok if you're not expecting anything great. We only ate at the buffet so I can't comment on the other restaurants. There was some entertainment but we really didn't participate in any of it. The room was your basic hotel room but not in great shape. The shower leaked all over the floor everytime due to its design. We found a way to stop it with a little effort. The area is quiet but close enough to Bucerias and Puerto Vallarta for easy day trips. For what we wanted, the Samba was a pleasant place to spend a week and we would consider going back if the price was right.

Great bang for the buck, activity staff and cooks were amazing particularly Lore the egg chef Martin at the bar, would recommend the shows Cons: older building; plumbing problems, you can hear your neighbours through the door, noise from resort next door every night is a stadium concert

Muy agusto, muchos camastros y alberca grande. Playa excelente, sin piedras y muchas sombras en la playa, excelente estancia. Problema no hay nada cerca Oxxo mas cercano, en taxi 80 pesos ida y 80 de regreso pero carisimo por ser Oxxo zona hotelera, ir a un Oxxo regular 140 ida y 140 regreso solo 280 para ir a un oxxo. Recomendacion, lleguen con todo lo necesario para no salir nunca.

Samba is a small property..you can walk anywhere in 3 minutes .The staff is always friendly and professional and it is quiet. By 10:00pm all you hear is the ocean. Perfect !

It is an old hotel and showing it's age, but it was very clean and comfortable. Staff were constantly cleaning. The grounds, pool and beach were all beautiful. There were plenty of chairs at the pool area and plenty of palapas at the beach. The resort is one of only a few resorts that has palapas at the beach.The staff were very friendly and seemed very happy all the time. We were a party of 4 adults and really enjoyed ourselves. We felt very safe walking the area.

The property is very well kept but certainly quite dated. The staff members were all excellent and very helpful. The food was okay but not exceptional by any means although there were lots of choices you could make. The buffet was definitely better than either of the two speciality restaurants. The entertainment was very good however the disco music at night was extremely loud and went very late. The pool and loungers around the pool were a stand out for such a small hotel. Although not perfect I would choose to stay there again.

Friends and neigbours.. make a better choice than this resort. The food is nearly inedible. There are hotdogs in the majority of the dishes on the buffet. Charro beans? Has hotdogs. Mexican style beef? Hotdogs. Chorizo sausage? Hotdogs with chorizo seasoning. One dish on the buffet during 'Italian' night was just.. hot dogs. Pepperoni pizza? The pepperoni was hot dogs. Protein in the pasta salads? Buddy.. you're not going to believe this - also hot dogs. Aside from the abysmal food, there was also the hellscape that was the showers. If you're a daredevil that loves to go from lava to a cold plunge then this is the place for you. If however you prefer just a nice shower that with temperatures that won't either freeze you or boil you alive, brother this ain't the place you want to be. It's also worth noting that our room keys stopped working - on average - three times a day. Which is especially inconvenient in the event you are having abdominal distress from the above-mentioned menu items. As for location, the beach is beautiful. However, the resort next door is pretty much an all-day rave. At night, our windows were rattling with early 90s Sandstorm-esque music which haunts my dreams to this day. We met many people who say they've been coming to this resort for years and my only question is.. have you ever tried anywhere else? The staff nearly without exception are lovely and kind and I can only say, they deserve better than this place.

The food was terrible, anything that was supposed to be hot was usually cold. You couldn’t go eat whenever since the buffet was only open certain hours. The bars werent even open at the same time. There was no staff and no service around the pool. Activities at the kids club didn’t exist. There was rarely even an employee at the kids club. The à la carte was terrible, food was cold. They moved the location of the à la carte and didn’t tell anyone, we had to wonder around looking for it. When we checked out, they wanted to charge another $400+ pesos just to sit by the pool until we had to leave for the airport. The rooms were old and my toilet barely flushed. I had to add water to the back of the toilet bowl to flush. I booked 2 queen beds and only got one king. There is no evening life, everything stops at 9 pm and the disco at 11 was terrible. I would never stay here again.

staff was very friendly and helpful Room and grounds were clean and well taken care of. Hotel rooms are getting dated and need to be remodeled. Pool was very nice and the beach awesome. The food at the restaurants and buffet were not that great and that would be the only reason I would not go back.

Staff was great and very helpful. Room was overall clean and staff tended to the room well each day, however bathroom tile, tub/shower, and sink areas were not in good condition. There is no effort to keep birds out of eating areas resulting in birds pecking at deserts and breads being served and customers being pooped on while dining!

The pros: quiet property that is not overly crowded. Cons: we never had hot water while we were here and the pressure in the showers is quite low. The water was like warm, but never hot. The amenities are basic and the “Italian” restaurant was closed while we were there.

hotel lacked consistency in its service, food and premises. Great location and plenty of lounge chairs/palapas/Balinese beds. Some staff seemed to enjoy their work, others not so much. Food was hit and miss- some meals good, others were overcooked and hardened/eggshells in scambled eggs, was not served drinks at two suppers. Snack bar food was cold and overdone midaft. Birds having a feast with meal plates not collected promptly. Was our second and probably last time there when compared to other choices.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms had a functioning air conditioning. We had it between 68-69 degrees and it was perfect. Dining at the buffet was my favorite. Unlike other hotels this hotel did not have unlimited options. However, I really did enjoy the options that were offered. Every night they had a theme, and I truly enjoyed eating after a long beach day.

The beach view was amazing, so many good sunsets during our stay. The staff were the best thing about this resort. They were so kind and welcoming. Definitely family friendly.

The staff is perfect. We did have a few hiccups in the Italian restaurant. We got charged extra for a soiled blanket. Cold showers everyday and no ac for the first 2 days. The staff again was amazing during the unrest in Puerto Vallarta. They worked double shifts and couldn't get home to their families. They then worked again the next day.
