Older property, but kept fairly well. The room was not fancy but was clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet despite being on a main street. There is a common sitting area outside the rooms, so I suspect that it may be a bit noisy if people were using it. The restaurant/pub downstairs had good food at a decent price. All-night front door attendant made me feel secure. Skytrain station is nearby and the waterfront park is a short walk away.

We came for the weekend and the hotel is in so so condition. We didn’t feel like we should take our shoes off on the carpets. The ceiling height was nice and the front desk staff was nice. The parking seemed a bit excessive at $18 a day for New Westminster getting a discount at the pub even if it’s only 10% was nice.

Hotel is located in an older building so you don't expect modern amenities. The towel bar kept falling every time I put or took my towel off. The public trains are located in the back of the building so just expect noise. My husband and I lived in a busy city so we are used to the sounds. There's no microwave in the rooms or ice machine on the same floors, but all can be found on the second floor. You can pay for parking just right across the street for a daily rate, and the parking lot has surveillance. What was unique about the rooms is how tall the ceilings are. Rooms were well kept and clean. Staff is very friendly. If we ever need a room again outside of Vancouver, we would not mind going back here.

Great place to stay if you are looking for a budget option in New West. Close to parking and is walkable to the main New West core and Skytrain station. Room was clean, with microwave and mini-fridge. Bed was a little stiff, and walls are thin...so be careful of "extra-curricular" activity. All in all a decent place to stay, and will stay again

While the property is dated, it is right next to the SkyTrain. I enjoyed the sound of the SkyTrain as it was a constant, regular noise - almost like white noise. While dated, the room felt clean. The room was spacious and had plentiful electrical sockets. I didn't use the tv, but it was well placed and large. There is a pub downstairs and you get a discount when you stay at The Met. There are lots of other food options within the block, and lots of things to do. The beds were large and comfortable and had lots of pillows. I don't think I've ever slept so well. The carpets are old, and the bathroom could do with a regrout, and the skytrains are loud. Other than those extremely minor things, the stay was excellent. The only other issue was that parking was across the street in a public lot, which was fine but make sure you empty out your car, as the front desk will remind you. You really don't need a car to stay here, but walking from the parking or the SkyTrain at night night make you nervous. And lastly, the front desk was lovely. Really appreciated their friendly smiles when coming through the lobby. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would definitely books again.

Good hotel for the price, right next to the train station and a nice oub downstairs. Quite old rooms and common areas but overall ok. Area nearby is a little shady with some crack heads around, but if you are going just to and from the train station you should be fine. Good little property. Clean and neat and the staff were very polite and helpful. Beds were comfortable, room was a good size - we were in a double Queen and there was lots of room to move around. The location next to Columbia skytrain station was a bit of a mixed bag. It's very easy to get downtown. It takes about 40 minutes to get to waterfront Station. On the other hand, the SkyTrain runs behind the hotel. They've invested in good windows, though, so although you can hear it it's not overwhelming. There's lots of parking but it is across the street. I recommend parking right next to the stairs for the Columbia Street exit, as that makes it a better one minute walk to your car. This would be a really excellent location for an out of town group coming in for something like a bachelorette party. If you book early enough there's an area in the second floor where there's a shared seating area in the middle of all the rooms. Microwave, water cooler, snacks and drinks available for sale. Just a good gathering area if you had a large group at the hotel. Not a party area, but good for pre party waiting for that one person who takes a while to get ready. This will be my go-to for trips into the LM in future.

Everything was going well until we got back to the hotel and were getting ready for bed. When I went to close the blinds I saw a cockroach run across the windowsill and there were bugs in the bathroom. As we were trying to sleep you could hear a slight ticking sound from the roaches. Other than that the hotel was nice. The staff was friendly and check in went smoothly.

We were initially positively surprised by the room, it was nicely furnished and spacious for the price. The first night was quite cold and the traffic noise was noticeable but bearable. We ended up checking out early though after one night and went someplace else. After returning from an outing the second day we noticed that mice had gotten into our bags. The staff were nice and made the refund process through Expedia smooth.

From the old flossing pick behind the sink (the groove between sink and wall hadn't been cleaned in months at least) to mold on the tub tiles, the bathroom needs a complete overhaul. The roll down shades left gaps for light from the skytrain station to shine in. A noisy a/c unit was needed to offset the heat coming from the register, but it also helped to drown out the skytrain noise. The freezer in the mini fridge was so over-frozen that the door couldn't close. It was far from any of the described and quite a disappointment. The staff working that evening did her best, but I could tell she knew it wasn't great.

The building was old and not well-maintained, which meant areas in the room could not be cleaned completely. The carpet was badly stained, it needs to be replaced and the bathroom renovated. Internet service was spotty, my husband needed it for a work meeting and had trouble getting online. Parking was confusing as it was across the street from the hotel and not clearly marked. While it was comfortable enough and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, I will not stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at The Met. Our room was spotlessly cleaned every single day, which made our stay comfortable and stress-free. When we checked out, my son accidentally left his watch in the bathroom. The staff were so kind—they contacted me right away and kept it safe at reception until we could pick it up. I also really appreciate that they allowed us to store our things for a while as we had to pick up our car later. Overall, amazing service and very accommodating staff. Highly recommended! - Arlene

I wouldn’t house a dog on the state of the carpet in room 442. Terrible condition with stains and dirt ground into the carpet. Overall the room was adequate. Replace the carpet!

The location is excellent, but the property itself feels very dated and in need of a refresh. The carpet in the room was filthy, the coffee machine didn’t work, and the in-room microwave looks like it’s from the early 2000s. The staff were friendly and did their best to help, but unfortunately, the condition of the property puts them at a disadvantage.

The hotel was OK for our one-night stay, we just needed a place to sleep for our in-transit in Vancouver. The bed was comfortable. However, the room gets a bit warm and when the AC is turned on, it's quite loud. The windows can't be opened. The area outside felt a bit sketchy at night, it wasn't unsafe, but I didn't feel comfortable walking around alone. In the morning when we checked out, the hotel was doing some cleaning and had water dripping like a waterfall right at the entrance... We had to shout at the employee and ask them to pause the cleaning so we could walk outside - that felt odd.

Historic Hotel. Built 1896(ish) The rooms are comfortable with microwave, coffee and fridge. As well a/c works as it should. Beautiful view of the Fraser River. And Affordable!! Furnished with Canadian Made furniture, what more could you ask for!

Beds were comfortable. The room was clean . But the air quality was poor. You can’t open a window and there is no venting in the room except a very very loud old window air conditioner. Sleep was impossible.

The hotel is a few steps away from the Columbia SkyTrain station. It's an old hotel but we'll maintained. Reception staff were very friendly. The bed was softer than I wanted but otherwise it was a very nice stay.

Room was ok, beds are super old and lumpy. It was the skytrain running till well after 230am, front desk said it would stop at 1230 but this was not the case. Its started again at 5am.

This is a really cool hotel, with lots of character. Everything you'd need for a restful stay. The room I stayed in was at the back of the building and above a skytrain station, which meant you could hear the training coming and going throughout the night. I was fine with ear plugs (provided in the room) but if you're a light sleeper you might want to pick a room that faces the front.

Charming older hotel, the staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful! The rooms were clean and comfortable. It’s dated, but for the price that’s something that didn’t matter to us. It is RIGHT beside the sky train station which is why we chose it. For a quick trip, we would choose The Met again.

The staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. I had two reservations on different days of the week They were gracious to hold my luggage until check in. I e if the days I came in at 7:30 am and I finally checked in around 3:45 pm. They remembered who I was and addressed me by name.

Our daughter left her $500 head phones in the room and they called us right after check out to come get them. This alone, for me, earns them a 5 star rating. Vishu, and the young Asian guy at the front counter were among the kindest people we met in Vancouver. And the hotel location is so convenient for the sky train.

We had a wonderful stay at The Met. Our room was spotlessly cleaned every single day, which made our stay comfortable and stress-free. When we checked out, my son accidentally left his watch in the bathroom. The staff were so kind—they contacted me right away and kept it safe at reception until we could pick it up. The front desk staff were great. Super friendly and very helpful and accommodating. I also appreciate the 10% discount at the tavern next door (the food was great!). However, I left my black sweater on the black desk chair in the room by accident and even just a couple hours after checking out, it mysteriously disappeared and could not be found by the front desk staff when I called to get it sent to me. It's not an expensive sweater but I really don't like the dodgyness of that situation (I only stayed 24hours, it was the only thing I left, I only had a small backpack with me so I know for sure it's not in my bag and it was left in the hotel when I left in a hurry for an appointment just hours before I called hoping they could send it to me). There's a 7/11 open 24/7 at the station but after 11 you can only buy through the little window. Would stay again if needed.

The location of the hotel is excellent for transportation and for using public transit. The skytrain station of the Expo line is just steps away from the hotel! The views of the Fraser River from the front-facing rooms are lovely, but Columbia street is in the older parts of New Westminster. There are panhandlers and that sort of people, but sadly this has become the normal in all the cities now :(

Older property, but kept fairly well. The room was not fancy but was clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet despite being on a main street. There is a common sitting area outside the rooms, so I suspect that it may be a bit noisy if people were using it. The restaurant/pub downstairs had good food at a decent price. We came for the weekend and the hotel is in so so condition. We didn’t feel like we should take our shoes off on the carpets. The ceiling height was nice and the front desk staff was nice. The parking seemed a bit excessive at $18 a day for New Westminster getting a discount at the pub even if it’s only 10% was nice.

While the property is dated, it is right next to the SkyTrain. I enjoyed the sound of the SkyTrain as it was a constant, regular noise - almost like white noise. While dated, the room felt clean. The room was spacious and had plentiful electrical sockets. I didn't use the tv, but it was well placed and large. There is a pub downstairs and you get a discount when you stay at The Met. There are lots of other food options within the block, and lots of things to do. The beds were large and comfortable and had lots of pillows. I don't think I've ever slept so well. The carpets are old, and the bathroom could do with a regrout, and the skytrains are loud. Other than those extremely minor things, the stay was excellent. The only other issue was that parking was across the street in a public lot, which was fine but make sure you empty out your car, as the front desk will remind you. You really don't need a car to stay here, but walking from the parking or the SkyTrain at night night make you nervous. And lastly, the front desk was lovely. Really appreciated their friendly smiles when coming through the lobby. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would definitely books again.

We stay here every time we come down to new Westminster to visit our kids and it may not be the fanciest place around, but it’s a good price and the beds are comfortable, and the rooms are always clean and the staff is always extremely polite and helpful. We will continue to make this hotel our go to.
