Not enough outside lighting

Good location. No clear markings in the parking lot and less lights around the hotel.

Not a good location. Dirt in the corners of the bathroom. Stairways were very dirty and poorly lit. No markings on the parking lot. Bed was good but not so much for the pillows. Not good a value forthemoney.

The location was great for our needs during our stay. The view from our room of the river and boats was gorgeous. The back of the lodge view was unpleasant.(where parking was) The lodge itself was a tad run down and could use new carpets and a paint job . The elevator was extremely tiny, but did the job for getting up and down to our floors. There is a restaurant pub attached to the lodge which looks good but we didn't go inside. Breakfast needs to be improved, as it was only toast, bagels, cereal and yogurt. It had coffee and juice all day which was convenient. We had a couple hiccups upon check in but the manager was fast and efficient on resolving the issues and she was very pleasant and friendly. Overall we enjoyed our stay and liked the lodge.

Room was old but clean. Bed comfortable, towels nice and soft, air conditioner worked very well. Location was convenient for what we needed and canal behind the hotel makes a pretty view from rooms. Staff not friendly or helpful. Building is old—doors stick and carpet needs to be replaced. Pub next door was excellent!

It was very dark in the parking lot.

Very old building, needs plenty of upgrades. Room was relatively good, bedding and towels were clean. Balcony overlooking Canal was interesting. Breakfast was adequate. The elevator was small, slow and didn't work all the time. Not certain I'd stay again.

The place needs more work in cleaning. The front lobby's chandeliers had cobwebs and bugs in them. The breakfast area had dirty gatbage cans. The balcony is covered in pigeon poo. We stepped out there not knowing that it was covered in pigeon poo and tracked it into our room. I asked for the room to be vacuumed but for the 3 days we were there, it was not done. The bath tub needs to be replaced. Beds and pillows were comfy, the only real plus. Very limited channels on the TV. Rooms were quiet.

The maid service--non existant. there for four nights--never saw anyone to clean room, make bed, replace toiletries--even after requesting at the end of day two.

I had an issue with the shower head that feel off. The first person we spoke too sent maintnance but offered nothing else. I spoke to another dront desk clerk the following day and she was fantastic, offered a partial discount and was incredibly friendly. Sadly, the balcony from our roo. was basically unusable do to all the pigeons, their droppings and the resulting smell. Hallways and elevator were not well cleaned, but the room was in a good state and the bed was very comfy. All of downtown was withjn walking distance and there was places to eat all around.

The hotel is way outdated, we got a room with a balcony, wich you couldn’t even use the balcony cause us was covered with bird poo, wich was beyond disgusting, I’ve never see a hotel this dirty, the smell, from the lobby to the elevator to the room was a whole disappointment, I would never recommend this hotel to stay at, we were beyond disappointed, I had to sleep with our clothes on, pubic hair left on the washroom counter, hair left in the bath tub, we didn’t even get to shower, it was awful,

The entrance, elevator, and hallway carpets were very dirty. Glass also needs a cleaning. Very outdated furnishings.

Nice view of the Rideau Canal. Other than that, this property is awful, smelly and extremely dated. The room didn't seem clean, and smelled of urine. The shower grout was black with mildew. There was unrepaired damage all over the place, from worn-out carpet to marks on the walls. What repairs had been made appeared perfunctory and improvised. The elevator was tiny for a building its size, only big enough for 3 people max. The breakfast offerings were unappealing, consisting of bagels, bread, cereal and yogurt. A pancake machine was there, but the batter bag wasn't installed; evidently, the staff didn't want to clean the machine unless a patron took the time to figure out how to put the bag in and operate it on their own. Avoid.

Upon arrival the front entrance had huge spiders and cobwebs all over as if the spiders have grown by the generation. Upon entering, there was no one at the front entrance. A regular saw me waiting for a while and yelled the staffs name which made her appear from a dining hall. Upon entering my room it REAKED of body odour. Everything was covered in dust. The ceiling has water damage and was falling apart the walls shedding. When approaching the staff with these concerns of smell, and uncleanliness they said “I know, I wouldn’t book here again if I were you”. When trying to cancel the booking unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a refund offered and they changed my room but it wasn’t much better than the first resulting in barely any sleep. I had better sleep in my car that night. Worst experience ever. Definitely would NOT RECOMMEND.

Okay! We all know that Econo Lodges are NOT 5 Star properties. They never have been, never will be. With that said, the Econo Lodge Smiths Falls is an absolutely GEM!!! First, the staff were amazing. Every single person I dealt with was welcoming, friendly, kind, courteous and helpful! They made my stay so much better!! Second, I travel often, so keeping costs down is important. I understand that the Econo Lodges are mainly old facilities. But the Smith Falls location, even though it was old, was extremely clean and well taken care of. Yes, it showed its age, but did so gracefully. Again, a testament to staff who really care!! Third, OMG my room was HUGE! And it had a balcony facing the river! Which will be even nicer when I go back in the summer!! The bed was super comfortable. Nice size TV. Lots of space, did not feel cramped like some hotels. And endless amounts of hot water, great morning showers!! Finally… and this is extremely important… they had a pancake machine for breakfast!!! EPIC!! Over all, for a hotel that is rated 2ish stars, I give my four day stay a 10/10+. Thank you to the people at the Smiths Falls Econo Lodge for making my travels so incredibly fun and relaxing!!! ✌️&❤️ Ken & Moosie

My husband and I stayed one night. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It’s just very very outdated and could use a facelift. It was in a very convenient location for our overnight stay!

It is a nice clean hotel. It is in a great area to walk to attractions and eating places. The hotel is dated.

Great value! Hotel needs updating, but then they might not be able to offer such a great price. Staff was kind, the room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. And our room had a beautiful view of the river. We were happy with our stay!

The 1 queen bed room which on the 4th floor was in very good conditions; very clean, with very comfortable bed and high speed Wi-Fi. The staff was professional.

Main complaint "cleaning staff left our room open". Hotel is aware the door needs to be closed firmly because it's not aligned properly. Said they instruct the cleaning staff to make sure, yet our room was found open after they cleaned. Area is in a questionable secluded area of town with a pub inside the hotel. One would want a secure room. Asked for a manager to call us since one isn't in until 8am after we were checking out. Never heard from the hotel at all.

Lobby appeared clean and kept. The floor I was on was in need of repair. Stained carpet in the hall, no baseboard, wall paint chipped and cracked. My room was very dated. Pink tiles and peeling ceiling paint in the bathroom and no exhaust fan. Bed was comfy. Barking dog in next room woke me at 2 am. Barked nonstop. I called front desk. Dog stopped soon after. But barked again at 2:30 and 4:30 am. Front desk has no staff in the morning. I had to call four times before reaching anyone in the afternoon to verify that the barking dog would not be in the hotel my second night ( I would have requested a room change, if so). I was there three nights and had absolutely no housekeeping services. No one emptied the garbage, tidied the bed etc. My last morning, the hotel manager was at the front desk. When I asked if it was normal not to have housekeeping during a three night stay, her response was an insincere “sorry, I’ll let them know”. Breakfast was a continental breakfast with toast, bagels, muffins, cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea and juice. Completely self serve. Garbage cans in the breakfast room were flip top style and absolutely filthy with dried on food and beverages on the lids. Never cleaned the entire time I was there. All in all, a reasonably priced place to sleep but not worth half what I paid. I will not stay there a second time.

Leaving out the age, the rooms are always clean, have comfortable beds, abundant hot water, and, Hassan, apologies if spelled wrong, is the most efficient, customer oriented and polite hotel staff for 100km at least. Always handles my simple issues instantly. I stay here for the caring staff more than anyqhere else.

In its heyday, I can see that the EconoLodge would have been the place to stay. On the banks of the Rideau Canal, patrons would have had a beautiful view in the summer months from their balconies as the boats passed. To their credit, the property managers have done some work to keep the lobby and rooms themselves somewhat updated, but there are a number of areas for improvement. If you are not able to look past outward appearances this is not the place for you. However, our short stay was not about this, but convenience. And from that aspect it met our needs. The room itself was clean. It had everything one would expect for a simple overnight stay. The beds and pillows were comfortable, linens clean, and the room was quiet. In morning, we were pleased to find a breakfast area, well-stocked with what you would want for a quick breakfast to go. An unexpected bonus for us. While I don’t expect we will have the occasion to stay in the area again, I can say that for travelers in the area looking only for the basics, this will fit the bill.

Regular breakfast for this type of hotel

It was a very nice room and the view off of the balcony was very nice. The breakfast selection was good. Wife loved the automatic pancake maker.

Beautiful view of the Rideau from our balcony, but no other positives. Room was clean, but not maintained. Floor lamp not working, lampshades had obvious stains. Cover on outlet behind bed was smashed, leaving the plugs exposed. Continental breakfast was a joke. Pancake machine was only hot option. Very minimal selection. No fresh fruit, only white bread for toast, three tiny chocolate muffins in pastry section. Would not go again.

Breakfast has very limited options

I've stayed here a couple times passing though smith falls, its a great place just to crash for a night or two. Don't expect anything crazy as this is not the place, but its clean, the staff are nice, and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast is not great but there are a few places in town to get breakfast that have great options.
