Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz Bergen

The breakfast was absolutely fantastic- can’t remember the last time I had such a comprehensive and delicious breakfast included with my room! My room was clean and quiet even though I was on a lower floor facing the street. Staff did a great job managing record heat by outfitting each room with fans. Desk staff was kind. Steps to fish market and funicular. Parking directly across the street should it be needed.

Great breakfast! Really good cinnamon rolls! This place was excellent and the area was perfect for access to the harbor for photos and shopping.. The whole experience was a treat! We would return! Parking available across the street for a fee.

It’s an adequate hotel. A solid 3 .5 star The breakfast is very good and included. But hotel is dated and there are no dining options inside. However it’s convenient and easy to walk to restaurants and Brugge is few steps away. No AC and gets hot at night. Fan helps but noisy

Somehow my wife and child had been deleted from the booking and I was charged for a room upgrade from a single queen to a double queen. The hotel manager eventually refunded part of the charge as only an additional charge for an infant was allowed per the terms and conditions, but I had to spend an hour with customer service for hotels.com and the manager to get it resolved. Neither their single or double queen beds are actually queen sized (180 cm), but are smaller double beds at 150 and 160 cm. The room was very dusty but otherwise in good order. The layout did make it hard to see the TV from half the bed, but since we weren’t really there for the TV I honestly didn’t care. One towel also had brown staining. Breakfast was good. One thing to look out for is parking. The listing states that parking is available, however this is just public parking in a garage across the street. If you arrive at a busy time as did we, you run the risk of the garage being full as no spots are allocated specifically to guests of the hotel. Overall the hotel was fine, but being nickle and dimed at arrival and some misleading descriptions made it a bit less smooth than staying with Thon hotels usually is.

The breakfast was absolutely amazing! Fresh organic ingredients and everything was arranged beautifully. Coffee and tea is available all day long. Only thing is they make you rent umbrellas which is silly as it’s Free advertising for the hotel so let your guests use them freely!

Perfect location; close to everything and still quiet. Fantastic breakfast. Very comfortable beds. Excellent daily room freshening. Responsive pleasant staff.

Very Expensive car parking

The staff are very welcoming and happy to help. We found our Superior Room to be spacious and very clean with a set of windows that could be opened. There were also black out curtains. The shower worked well, and the elevator is speedy. The breakfast buffet offers a lot of variety, but I will say that many of the hot items were already cold. The front desk also has a limited selection of wine, etc. that can be taken to a "bar" area or to your room. Coffee and tea are offered freely all day. The parking garage is right across the street and, therefore, so convenient. When you put in your license plate to open the garage, make sure you remember the number, because you will need it to be able to re-enter. I was glad I made note of my rental car tag! The location is on a quiet street that is near restaurants and shops. The funicular is literally around the corner. I like that the hotel is not in the thick of the cruise bustle.

Located in a nice area of bergen with many dining options (and located in front of a parking - very convenient), this hotel is very functional with very nice and efficient staff. I was particularly impressed by the breakfast buffet that was excellent and with a large choice ! Excellent value for money for a stay in Bergen

Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located... just steps from the historic wharf area, but on a quiet street. The breakfast was excellent, and coffee and water were available 24/7. I did wish there was an on site restaurant one night during a rainstorm, but the there are many dining options nearby.

Pros: great central location, really friendly and helpful staff, easy parking, and a phenomenal breakfast buffet. Comfy bed and clean once you are in the room. Free coffee in the lounge Cons: dirty hallways and ugly outdated carpet and wall colors. Looks like a cheap hotel. Furniture in the rooms is dated.

The Thon near the waterfront in Bergen was a convenient location. Just a few steps away from the waterfront and Bryggen. Paid parking is available across the street. We booked two standard queen rooms. The rooms were very small. One was so small that we could not move around the room when our carry on luggage was inside. The staff tried very hard, but appeared to have inadequate help most days. Outside of early morning hours, only one or two front desk staff were available to assist. Notably, many coffee and tea cups placed in the lounges and rooms were not adequately cleansed and had dried residue on the bottom of the cup. Finally, the breakfast buffet was mediocre. Many items ran out because of understaffing and the quality of the food was mediocre.

Clean comfortable room. DELICIOUS BREAKFAST with lots of variety. Very helpful staff. There are plenty of restaurants and cute shops not to mention the wharf area. Great location and so walkable. Surrounded by many attractions and near the Bergen Visitor Center. The main square is only a few blocks away. The airport shuttle (Flybussen) is a couple blocks away at Bus Stop D. If you turn left out of the hotel, you can miss all the cobblestone down to the bus stop, it's about a 3- or 4-minute walk. I enjoyed my stay, would definitely stay here again.

The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff are really nice and helpful. The buffet breakfast is probably the best we have ever had. The only negative was the lack of shelf space in the room for our clothes - but, we were there for a week which is probably not the norm. We will be returning to Norway in the near future and will definitely use a Thon Hotel for that trip.

The room was pretty cold - around 17-18 degrees.

Breakfast was excellent. Room was too crowded with furniture for a room of that size. It didn’t need the desk. And the wardrobe was hopeless for accommodating much stuff. A second rack for a second bag would be better or a wardrobe where you can accommodate a suitcase. There was an unsightly dent in the bathroom door that needs fixing. Otherwise the bed was comfortable.

The breakfast at this hotel is phenomenal. The location is great right by the Wharf. Be aware that the room is quite compact and the bathroom is miniaturized for some people's travel needs. we made it work but I was amazed that they could make an entire shower insuch a small space period be small space

Great location, friendly staff good breakfast. The room was very warm in the room and the fan isn’t big enough to cool the room down. So be prepared to have a warm sleeping night.

Very nice staff, clean, nice decor, fairly good breakfast buffet. Rooms are tiny (as many in Europe are), especially 6th floor attic rooms. VERY stuffy. Window does open, but to noisy bar patio outside below. Large tour groups fill lobby. Staff should ask them to please wait elsewhere - you can’t get in and out of doors. View is limited to none.

This hotel has it's pros and cons. A great location, very close to shopping and restaurants. The breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of great options. We paid for a larger room which it was nice but the bathroom was so small, the sink was very little, no room to put anything, the shower was very tiny and when taking a shower the water went every where in the little room. It was impossible to shave your legs, no shelf in the shower to put products. The seal was broken on the glass doors. Although the room was a nice size there was no storage, no nightstand storage, no dressers, no place to put a second suitcase but on the floor. It was not a good choice for a couple or female traveler. The bathroom was smaller than a New York City hotel.

Convenient location for walking and shopping in Bergen. However do not accept room 527 or the room opposite the elevator on any other floor. The noise of the elevator mechanism disturbed me frequently in the night. The worst night of sleep in any hotel during our entire trip.

People at front desk were very helpful. I had requested early check in and they had a room available. They assisted me in ordering a cab for my super early flight and offered a box breakfast even though I was leaving before breakfast started. Decor of hotel rooms and public areas was very nice, clean and comfortable. Hotel is very centrally located and I was able to walk to shopping, dining and attractions. Great visit!

Excellent nicely presented convenient hotel one block away from the heart of Bergen. Stayed 3 nights on our 2 week trip around Southern Norway for our 25th wedding anniversary. Arranged for surprise flowers and the staff went the extra mile to make it feel extra special. Buffet breakfast is the best with most choice we had all holiday and although it can be busy with coach and ferry trip passengers it didn't feel overly crowded or too noisy. Convenient parking in the apcoa parking opposite but can be expensive.

It would have been a five star review if the front desk Hotel Agent Erik was more empathetic about my uncle and aunt's lost luggage. We were about to get on a cruise and asking to help calling the airline to check since language could be a potential barrier and wanted to know if he could help. He told us that he is not in the concierge service so we can call on our hotel room phone which would be fine if he wasn't that rude. However I do have to say he was the only problem. The rest of the staff (sorry ladies, I can't remember all your names but they were so helpful and empathetic about the lost luggage issue.) I

It’s a trip to visit Europe for celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We are very happyto stay at Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz. We received a lovely hand drawing greeting card and chocolates in our room when we arrived, as you can see the picture I attached. It was such a sweet surprise to us. Thank you very much the Team Thon Hotel Rosenkrantzgaten. Everything in this hotel are perfectly arranged, you can purchase a room with a light evening meals included if you don’t feel like dining out every night. The light evening meals are just perfect for us. Location of this hotel is the best, you can walk to everywhere, the harbour, central rail station, market square, fish market.. and even a self-service laundromat is located not far from the hotel. Yet, it’s very quiet. We just love this hotel and highly recommend it.

We were there for 3 nights. On the 3rd night there was a loud party next to our room with young men screaming. I called down to the front desk. The agent said that it was a group that was leaving to go to town. The noise and loud music continued so I called a 2 nd time. Another agent told me that the noise was from outside. I told him that we had an inner room so I know that it was from a hotel room and I wanted him to come up to my room so he could hear the noise. He refused to and told me to use ear plugs. I had to go out into the corridor in my PJs and find the noise (which was very easy since it was the room next to mine). I had to call cow. A 3rd time and give them the room number before anyone would come up and do anything about this. The service in this hotel is horrible. Also be forewarned that the hotel does not have air conditioning so when it is a record heat in Bergen it is miserable. This hotel does not live up to the other Thon hotels I have stayed at.

The Thon Hotel Rosenkranz in Bergen Norway was disappointing; don’t recommend. Why? ment. The hotel takes no responsibility for your personal belongings. I’ve never experienced a hotel that would not register and lock up baggage. Customers are told to take their own bags to a closet in the basement where anyone with a code can enter, access your luggage…or in our case, throw and damage your suitcase. Second, the staff are kids, unfriendly and unwilling to help customers. Hotel has no concierge. Asking for help to call & speak in Norweigen, they refuse & offer you a phone to call yourself. First hotel we visited where tour guides take over breakfast room to loudly instruct their groups. At the Norge, our Tauck guide would never interrupt other guests like this but wait till they are on a bus. Beware, the hotel doors do not lock immediately. It can take several minutes in the morning or returning at night for the electronics to work. Would you leave your hotel room with valuables before the door locked. The worst is that Thon staff never tell you hotel policy unless asked. Complaining at end of a four day stay about their luggage policy, the front desk told me you could ask for alternative arrangements for the lifesaving medicine I left in the unprotected room. The location of the hotel does not justify the lack of amenities (no pool or spa) or the lack of “customer-first” attitudes. Fantastic hotel with THE BEST BREAKFAST EVER! So memorable. The rooms are bright and clean. The staff are helpful and kind. Lastly, Michael in the kitchen is serving up some of the best food I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to be back!

Breakfast was out of this world. They also have a light dinner during the week and coffee at all times which is really helpful particularly in a pretty expensive place like Norway.

The most amazing breakfast buffet I’ve ever seen, stay there just for it!! You won’t regret it! Clean room, well stocked and comfortable.

Room was nice, excellent bed and linens, but somewhat small bathroom and not so great towels. Location was very convenient. Had a nice lobby bar with comfortable seating options. Breakfast was expansive and excellent!

Very beautiful hotel. Centrally located for all tourism. Room small but beautifully appointed. Staff very pleasant helpful 😊 Breakfast had vast choices. If i had one criticism the hot breakfast was not warm so stuck to continental. Appreciate dealing with lots of people so this was our only negative. Thankyou.

The breakfast was spectacular. Something for everyone to include eggs, bacon, sausage, fish pudding, smoked fish, fruits, vegetables, oatmeal, and much more. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would have like to have some control over the room temperature but overall, the facility is great.
