Restaurant closing at 9pm was disappointing.

Beautiful location, right on the beach. Friendly staff, far from Dublin but close to the airport and Howth. No airport shuttle, but taxis are easy to acquire. Spa was basic but the services are lovely.

Luxurious hotel. Great rooms, mostly with sea or golf views. Missing a pool and sauna for such a nice hotel.

Great hotel for a Golfing break with good facilities, food and restaurants and bar. Also good if you are an Irish whiskey lover - they have a dedicated Jamesons bar.

They have a large staircase in the entrance and the lift didn’t work for the luggage so I had to carry it. They advertise late night room service and I arrived after 1030 pm and was told there was no food available, the next day when trying to order breakfast room service it took an hour to get someone to answer the call. The property is beautiful with the ocean in your back yard. Very remote with a golf course next to it.

The hotel has a really great location and is nice. My room was not so nice this time. I had a welcome card in the room, but the room was very dusty, there were quite a lot of dark hairs in the bathroom. I also didn't like the restaurant very much. The manager seemed completely annoyed, it took ages to get a drink and the food was mediocre. When asked about it, they just shrugged their shoulders. The evening and morning walks on the beach compensate a bit, but I was a bit disappointed.

Was given a room with stains on the carpet, looked like it was the party room 147. But bed & bath were clean.

Facility is a lovely location which was why we picked it - close to beach for walking. Dining room is small but lovely overlooking the beach. Downsides were Parking as there was limited area. Clean bathrooms but rest of our room was tired and worn looking with dust covered baseboards. Not comfortable foam pillows.

We loved the beautiful trails, garden and walking to the beach. The food was excellent and we loved eating the Irish breakfast. Our room was a little dirty-our chair had crumbs and the shower had some hair. Nevertheless, our bed was comfortable and we felt comfortable and safe. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends and family.

Our room was beautifully clean and presented. It was modern with a great corner window overlooking the garden. The breakfast was excellent and all the staff very helpful. We love the Portmarnock hotel and spa and will be back again soon.

The hotel was very clean and had a classy feel to it

Sleeping area was very nice. Mold in the shower and bathroom smelled like sulfur. Staff was nice and view was nice.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Portmarnock Resort. The staff was friendly and professional, particularly Brian. We had a golf course view from our room, which was great! Dinner in the bar and the breakfast buffet were both very good. Maps gave us incorrect directions so we were delayed in arriving. Luckily a man at a convenience store helped us out.

I think we got the last available room and it wasn’t anything special. This is a hotel for golfers. It has a beautiful golf course with amazing views of the sea. The property itself is really right on the beach. So if you golf and you love the beach, this place is for you. However, if you want a nice fluffy robe and a quiet place to relax or a hot meal with great service, maybe this place isn’t for you. Our room was nice enough, just basic. The first thing you see when you look out the window is a green moldy rail that looks like it has never been cleaned. I was surprised that a “resort” had so few amenities in the room. Also, there was a sign at the entrance to one of the dining rooms that told guests that if they didn’t want to be disappointed, they shouldn’t come to eat when the restaurant is busy. We took our chances and reserved a table for dinner at the other restaurant. The food was good, but the service was lacking. No greeting by the server and our second course took over 45 minutes. The WiFi was spotty and there was so much noise (weird, booming inexplicable thuds) all night long that we hardly slept. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The room was very spacious and comfortable bed. Everything was spotless. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We had a minor issue that Margaret in reception addressed quickly. She was personable and understanding. The hotel is in a fabulous spot on a beach.

Our room was not ready when we arrived in the afternoon. Room did not have any air conditioning and was very hot. To make matters worse the only bed covering was a heavy duvet. Did not get much sleep. In the morning, tried to shower but only scalding hot water would come out. Staff were very nice and their burger was excellent.

Beautiful location on the Sea. There is a wonderful walking path along the coast that takes you all the way to Malahide. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous. The golf course looked beautiful (and challenging). The room was very large and comfortable. There is a tub and walk in shower. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Amazing service and the staff are amazing and customer focused. I will definitely be rebooking next time I am travelling to Ireland .

Beautiful hotel and perfect location for a getaway! Booked for my partners birthday as a base to meet friends in Dublin and couldn’t have asked for more. We had a sea view double which was fab size wise. Nicely decorated….only downside was no fridge! Had an issue with the shower when we arrived but maintenance had it fixed within 10 minutes of us calling reception. We didn’t eat in the hotel but will definitely give it a go if we come back. Access to the most stunning beach and the golf course which again wasn’t played this time but I’m sure we will be back. All the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and polite. Service at the bar could be a bit speedier but loved our time here and can’t wait to explore a bit more next time.

I have stayed here many times. The staff do their best to accommodate. Surroundings are beautiful even on a bad day. The view is fantastic.

Lovely! Staff was utterly wonderful. I flew in from the USA. Flights delayed hours and hours. I was so very tired. They treated me kindly and allowed an early check in to sleep. FIVE STAR!!! Thank you everyone!! Brian thank you for the chat and help with the bags.

Despite booking 6 weeks in advance , check in was very slow, their system just seems to be very slow. No late services for guests. Way over priced for what you get. Staff not very helpful

The Jameson Bar manager abruptly turned off the bar TV as the NFL Super Bowl started and kicked everyone (about 15 people there then for the game) out with no other options. She was rude and angry when people asked about the resident rule. Overall the staff was good but the hours of operation of all restaurants and bar were limited and the food quality was average all Meals. Need improvement in quality and guest relations.

Staff were wonderful particularly Mary in the restaurant. She was professional and knew exactly what was happening throughout her restaurant. Terrific employee. Lovely stay. Thanks again.

We enjoyed a lovely 4 night stay. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Service was excellent. We must single out the bellman Brian, who provided exceptional, helpful and friendly service. The location is quiet and close to the beach, Portmarnock and Malahide. Dublin is just an easy train ride away. Highly recommend a stay at this resort.

The hotel taff were so very helpful, especially Brian, the concierge. We were also particularly grateful for Michael, the local taxi driver. He was extremely professional, helpful and kind.

We stayed here 6 years ago and had a great time. It was clean and the staff was great. Not sure what happened, but very different this time. When we arrived, the key to our room did not work- it took 4 trips to the desk before they figured out that there was something wrong with the door. The maintenance guy finally came but could not fix it until the next day. It took 1 1/2 hrs to get into our room. The room service that night was not good, as it took 3 trips up to make the order right. The lift for luggage was out of order the entire time we were there - 6 days. We were not the only seasoned citizens there either. There was no baggage assistance. AT ALL ! The second night, we went to the lounge to have dinner and asked for one of the window seats. We were told those were reserved, but no markings were on the tables. My wife sat down in the second row and I went to move the car. When I came back 10 minutes later, she was furious. The two wait staff and manager were talking at the bar and laughing out loud, rather than taking any interest in her. NO ONE APPROACHED HER AT ALL FOR A DRINK ORDER OR ANYTHING ! This is ridiculous ! On two days/ evenings, we got back to the room after being out all day and there was only one set of towels for the room, even though they knew there were two of us. The staff at breakfast all had hollow smiles and were not welcoming at all. There were no " Good mornings " or " welcomes " at all. Just- what is your room ... a little more kindness maybe

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel. Very modern and pleasant building with friendly staff. It is in a rural area by the sea but very close to the Dublin airport and convenient.

location was so ideal for us. Golf was challenging and fun. Room was more than expected. had a Sea view room, able to open the window and breathe in the fresh sea air ..wonderful! Staff were so helpful from the moment you arrive and have your bags brought to your room, the check in staff, the restaurant staff everyone.preformed.beyond expectation. You get what you pay fo rand this place was worth every penny

Loved the beachside location. It was quiet and relatively close to city and airport.

Outside of busy Dublin, this is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the sea, yet close enough to grab a bus, train or taxi into the city. The service was great and the property was clean and beautiful.

Great hotel. Tranquil. Sea view room with extremely comfortable bed. Free parking. Sunny night and managed an hours walk along the beach after work. What more couldn’t ask for….. Food was good but took a long time to arrive which could’ve been down to the bar restaurant being busy.

The staff were friendly. The room was warm, clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the bay. However there was one complementary biscuit to share between two people and the complementary chocolates were discoloured. Breakfast was a bit chaotic, no private space between tables and not enough tables, guest's queueing on the stairs to get in, there being no free tables. Tea coffee and toast were promptly served, but when we went up for breakfast cereal we came back to find that the table had been cleared, our glasses of fruit juice, full pots of tea and coffee, side plates and both cups and side plates which we hadn’t even used. It was bizarre. Surely it should have been obvious that they weren’t ready for clearing?! With no cutlery to eat with, having asked twice for these to be replaced it took 5 minutes for this to happen, porridge cooling all the while. The cooked breakfast dishes were poorly stocked, indeed the bacon and the scrambled eggs when I got back to my table, were cold. Others were experiencing similar issues. They were obviously having a bad day, but it wouldn’t entice me back again. Staff seemed overwhelmed to cope with the volume of guests, both in table service and kitchen to provide adequate food supplies and glasses etc.

Food in Bar was very slow

The property is located in Portmarnock, which is about 3 miles from the town of Malahide. We had a rental car and ended up eating most of our meals at the local restaurants and pubs in Malahide. The hotel food was terrible. We ordered a hamburger at Jameson's (hotel restaurant). We told the waitress that we wanted only mayonnaise, lettuce and cheese. The burger came out w/out a bun and it was so overcooked that it looked like a hockey puck. I guess the waitress did not understand that hamburgers were also supposed to have buns. Another day we decided to have breakfast at the hotel. They charged us 36 euros for a buffet style breakfast that was mediocre at best. On an afternoon, we decided to have a coffee and dessert at the lobby bar and the coffee was served cold. I told the waitress and she brought me another one that was barely warm. When the bill came, they charged me for both coffees. After explaining that I did not drink the first one because it was cold, she agreed to take it off the bill. Finally, on another day the serviced the room and did not fill the body shower gel bottle (it was left empty on the holder). We called the front desk and after a while a staff employee came up with shower caps. I guess the front desk did not listen and told him to bring shower caps and not gel. He promptly when back and brought the gel to refill the bottle. This hotel is OK, but it is definitely not close to 5 stars due to the untrained staff and poor food.

The property and room were awesome. Our views of the ocean/sea were available. The bed and room was comfortable. The service in the restaurant wasn’t that great. They weren’t busy and our food took a long time to arrive and the food wasn’t that good. We would comeback to the hotel but wouldn’t eat in the restaurant. Also, the breakfast was a little pricey for two people. $40 euros. Also, there was nobody in the restaurant but they sat the 4 couples right next to each other so there was no privacy or ability to have a conversation.

Excellent customer service. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar and restaurant. The inclusive breakfast was large with many options. The view and grounds were pretty, but could not be outside because of the weather.

I ordered a steak on an evening meal , I could not eat it . I returned it ,and was not charged ,however the evening was ruined,also the presentation was dire. For a supposedly upper class hotel it fell well short. . .

The sink water can not run through and water from the shower is too hot, which can not adjust. The stuffs are nice, but can not fix the sink issue. They only temperately fix and come back the same issue again in few hours. We have stayed for 8 days and pay for the breakfast. however the food for breakfast is the same every day. Do not have too many dining option for the evening. Do not have a lot restaurants near by.

Food was mostly terrific but service from the kitchen very slow. Delightful staff.
