Scandic Gamla Stan

Lite og koselig hotell i umiddelbar nærhet til både tunnelbane og yrende liv i Gamla Stan. Deilig frokost og rent og fint rom. Heisen er ikke for folk med klaustrofobi men den gikk som ei klokke. De ansatte var veldig serviceinnstilt og hjelpsomme. Hyggelig takterrasse satte prikken over i’en.

Walking distance to the Royal palace. Restaurants all around. It is right next to the sea. There may be some rooms facing the sea but ours was not. The staff was very friendly and gave us helpful tips because it was our first time visiting the city. Minor issues: It has a tiny lobby and there are some steps going up to the hotel.

We stayed here for 5 nights. It’s a charming older hotel that met all our needs. We appreciated the roof terrace and loved the breakfast buffet

We love staying here. The room is pretty, with a very comfy bed and bedding. The new bathroom is so clean. The location is perfect. We could walk to everything! The staff, especially in the breakfast room, are efficient and welcoming. And the roof terrace is a lovely place to enjoy a rest after a busy day of being a tourist.

The hotel was very clean and convenient to our sightseeing. Fortunately, there was an elevator to the 3rd floor, but my husband and I couldn't both fit in it with our luggage.

Perfect location in the old town. Room (s) was great with separate sitting area. Rooftop lounge area was a nice surprise. Wonderful, huge breakfast! Would stay here again.

Great location conveniently near the T but that means when the windows are open, for the rooms facing the street, you hear the T and it runs 24 hours. the windows, when closed, do a great job reducing the outside noise but the hotel doesn’t have air conditioning so in warmer weather it could be uncomfortable at night. We stayed in early October so it wasn’t a problem for us. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable & the reception staff very nice. No wash cloths in the bathroom so if you use them bring your own. The rooms don’t have coffee makers or kettles. There is a coffee machine in the lobby but guests need to pay per cup, refills are less costly but for the cost of the rooms we didn’t understand the need to charge guests for coffee. Breakfast is offered for a fee, we didn’t have the breakfast to comment about the selection. There is a small roof top patio with seating that we enjoyed. Gamla Stan is an enjoyable area to explore, a bit crowded during the day but very nice to walk around early in the morning & in the evening.

Lovely place with great staff. Just be aware it is an old building so there is a limit to what they can offer in facilities compared to the other Scandic Hotels nearby.

The hotel has no way to get to the elevator without going thru two three step stairs. Lights are dinghy and dark

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Metro in Gamla Stan. A nice renovated old buildings with lovely, helpful staff. The room was very comfortable and a reasonable size. Price was certainly less than London. It is convenient to sights, shopping, restaurants and bars, but was very quiet. The breakfast buffet was extensive and very good. I don’t know how they do it every morning! The coffee machine tended to cause a bottleneck, but that was OK. The lift is TINY so beware if you have large bags.

Mysigt men slitna rum. Färg som flagnar i taket och slitna mattor på golvet. Svårt att dra för gardinerna i fönstret, ingen rullgardin. Badkaret var inte riktigt rengjort. Bra serviceminded personal i både matsalen, städ och receptionen.

Det var städat och fint, trevlig personal.

The hotel room had furniture that was falling apart and the room was very dusty and smelled musty. Overall, great location, service and breakfast

Super beliggenhed i udkanten af Gamla Stan. Meget venlige og servicemindede receptionister. Pæn rengøringsstandard. Har aldrig helt forstået, hvorfor Scandic påberåber sig bæredygtighed ved at springe rengøring over? Mener det er pjattet og i bund og grund mere et spørgsmål om at spare. Heldigvis kan man stadig få gjort rent, men man skal bede specifikt om det! Værelset var meget småt, måtte kante os forbi sengen. Meget lidt plads til tøj. Stort udvalg på morgenmadsbuffet, men meget trangt også i morgenmadsrestauranten.

Good location for sightseeing dining & transport around the city. On the downside there were no free tea & coffee facilities & only daily room cleaning by request.

Everything went well! The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately I don't know any of the staff members' names but the woman who was working during evening was really friendly.

So easy to get to from the metro. So many restaurants and shops nearby. The room was the perfect size. The only downside was how close to the metro it was because it was very loud all night long.

Very close to the Metro for access anywhere in Stockholm and minutes from the ferry boats and several local attractions. Bathroom was the only complaint as it was ridiculously small for the room we had. Everything else about the room was good.

Very warm, no air circulation. Very very tiny. Did not realize my room was so small!

I stayed here for 2 nights, a Friday and a Saturday. While I would stay here again if needed, there are a few factors that would make me think twice. The good stuff - the service was excellent, the breakfast buffet had lots of good choices (though there were sometimes no tables to eat at in peak times), and the location puts you right in the Old Town area of Stockholm. The beds are comfortable (although they only give you half-sized pillows / cushions for some reason... never had that before). There's a desk in most rooms so you can do some work. Some rooms have bar fridges, some don't; but there is a selection of food and drinks you can buy downstairs if needed. The less-good stuff: The rooms are pretty small - the gap between the end of the bed and the nearest wall might be only 60cm. There's no air conditioning, so even in the Autumn when I was there, it was stuffy and warm in the rooms. The windows open though, so you can let some fresh air in if needed. The big problem I had was that the blinds don't block all light or noise. And in the Old Town there's plenty of people out partying 2am. Really, if they'd add in a rollerblind as well as some thicker drapes that go all-the-way to the walls, I'd probably stay here again. One last issue - this is not a good place if you have mobility issues. There are steps and trip hazards everywhere. (I stubbed my toe every morning going to the bathroom because the bathroom has a 2cm lip under the door.)

Litet, diskret, mysigt hotell med jättebra läge nära Kornhamnstorg. Lite lyhört bara. Och en tv som inte gick att vinkla på ett bra sätt.

Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cesar runs a great breakfast and is happy to accommodate any special requests, if possible. Amazing location in Gamla Stan. Cons: Shower was tiny (see attached picture). I am only 5' 3" and 112 lbs and I regularly hit the door with my elbow opening the shower door and getting the bathroom wet. Room was very warm due to unexpected warm weather and the fan was insufficient. Windows can't be opened because the outside noise is extremely loud (people, trash truck) - ask for a room not facing the street. Room 207 was fine for one person but if 2 people, someone would have to climb into bed from the foot because there is a piece of furniture against the bed so no access to one side of the bed.

Sängen kunde ha varit en riktig dubbelsäng. Inte två sängar ihopsatta med en stor madrass över. Det hade också varit fint med ett större och varmare täcke.

The staff couldn't have been more accommodating-taxi rides,Great breakfast and the chef was amazingly accommodating for gluten-free options. They also have a boxed breakfast for those whohave to leave prior to breakfast time.

Staying here felt like home. From the warm greeting each time we came in to the INCREDIBLE breakfast each morning, we were thrilled to be staying here for 5 nights. The room itself was more spacious than any other we’d had in a month of travel and the room had everything we needed (proper desk, mini fridge, mirrors, closet, outlets, hair dryer, great water pressure) The kitchen manager, Oscar, made mornings feel like you were at your childhood home as they took such pride in the atmosphere, quality of food and presentation. He even had an outstanding selection of gluten free food since I have celiac disease. The location in Old Town was perfect and close to everything. During the Summer the streets have flower boxes everywhere & are closed to car traffic so you can walk everywhere. This place is 1 block off the main streets so nights were quiet and we slept so well. We will surely stay here again on our next trip to Stockholm.

Excellent location. Cleanliness is ok. Hotel provides free drinking hot water. Hotel entrance has stairs. Front desk staff Stefan is very helpful (reserves taxi from hotel to airport, provides breakfast box...). Breakfast is excellent with cheerful chef's good service.

The room was dated, was aiming at cosy but felt like staying in a grandparent’s house that hadn’t been decorated for 20yrs. Weird pictures on the walls! Otherwise, great location for the Old Town, felt safe, staff weren’t that friendly but definitely helpful & the manager was great. Breakfast was a little lacklustre but fine.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. We were very appreciative that our request, made just that morning, to have a room on a lower floor because of recent medical issues, was honored. The receptionist also tägave us great advice about where to get an excellent traditional Swedish dinner.

Hade en bra vistelse på Scandic Gamla Stan. Perfekt läge med nära till allt i Gamla Stan. En mycket bra frukost med de superbra frukostvärdinnorna. Har verkligen koll o ligger steget före så inget tar slut o borden blir avplockade, verkar utan att synas. All cred till dom! Trevligt bemötande vid in-o utcheckning. Hit kommer vi tillbaka.

Staff was wonderfully helpful, breakfast was perhaps the best we've had. Chef was a joy.

Great hotel lovely staff

Wonderful old building but that also meant furniture, carpeting and bathrooms a bit worn. Lack of a/c was an issue. Breakfast and servicewas good altho reception service could have been better.

The receptionist was incredibly helpful to us. Our flight had been delayed and she was very instrumental with getting us transportation to the airport and very accommodating when we found out that our flight was delayed.

I loved the location in Old Town. There were many dining and shopping options in the surrounding blocks. Also it was very close to Metro, Bus, and Commuter Ferry stops. The facilities were very nice, excellent breakfast.

Sehr schönes nostalgisches Hotel mit hervorragendem Frühstück, zentral gelegen, alles gut zu erreichen. Einziger negativer Punkt, wo aber das Hotel nichts dafür kann: Durch die direkte Lage in der Altstadt war es nachts ziemlich laut.

Eco friendly, comfy beds and wonderful breakfast. Location can't be beat. Great hotel - will use again if in Stockholm.

This was a perfect stay. The room was small and a little bit old-fashioned but it was clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was recently renovated. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet had a good variety of high quality food. Then there was the location, which was so convenient: located in Gamla Stan and only a two-minute-walk from the tunnelbana station (but you can walk to most of Stochkolms neighborhoods)

Vi var fornøyde med hotellet og oppholdet. Vi vil skryte ekstra av frokostbuffeten. Han som hadde ansvaret for frokosten var utrolig dyktig og fantastisk serviceminded. Vi vil gjerne komme tilbake.

Looking for a cozy old hotel in Gamla Stan? Look no further. Such a nice contrast to a chain hotel in other parts of Stockholm. The breakfast smorgasbord alone is worth the very reasonable nightly rate. The desk staff go out of their way to be helpful, including one who called a department store when I misplaced a credit card. If you are a walker, you can get just about anywhere a tourist needs to go within a short time. We highly recommend this property.

Perfectly located hotel in ok condition. The final star is for the kitchen staff service that was truly excellent and so friendly. We had a plate of vegan treats freshly cooked for our breakfast. So sweet!
