Sara's Boutique Hotel

Location: Within 10 minutes of major tram stations, good restaurants, and convenient stores. Room: My room was a renovated attic into a bedroom. Nice furniture and fixtures. Issues: Made the mistake of not booking a hotel with A/C. Was in Amsterdam during a heat wave (it was 30C / 86F at midnight)! They provided a room fan, but it was coated in dust (gross). They suggested opening the windows, but then mosquitoes would fly in. I woke up the first morning with over 17 mosquito bites all over my body. Because it was a renovated attic, it was exposed to the sun from the walls AND the roof all day long. It was simply unbearable to be in my room during the day. There is no ice on the premises. They had a carton of water near the front desk. When I tried to fill my water bottle up, I was yelled at by staff who told me to use the 3 oz cups because that water was for everyone. I was suffering from heat exposure and was limited to a tiny cup of water! I'm grateful that they had an elevator, but they jokingly call it the slowest elevator in Amsterdam. It took about 2 minutes to go from the ground floor to the 4th floor where my room was. So sometimes it would take 4 minutes for the elevator to come to you, and then to go up or down. You could take the stairs, but the steps were very narrow, barely enough for half my foot to step on the treads. It was a cute and budget-friendly hotel, but you get what you pay for. I will definitely read the fine print next time. Not for summers!

Good location for access to city centre. Hotel clean

My room was infested with bedbugs. Bad smell in the air, clearly not cleaned or maintained properly. Haven't been able to contact management for a refund in 3 days. Avoid.

Great value for money! Walking distance to all the sights and canals.

The location was perfect. You can walk easily to all the main places in Amsterdam. The street is very beautiful. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. The stairs can be difficult, but there is an elevator. It is a little slow, but it is useful. If I visit Amsterdam again, I will definitely stay here again.
