Things i expected: Small room as a single traveller, steep stairs - the norm for Amsterdam. Things i didnt expect : Room 9 is next to the slowest and nosiest lift in Amsterdam and of course guests are going to use it late into the night to avoid the steep stairs. Tiny bathroom ok. But power shower shouldn't leak all over bathroom floor and into small bedroom. Additional charge if you want room serviced. I expected as a minimum a clean room but wasnt great. Suggestions : Maybe some carpet on stairs, if allowed, to damped noise. A proper reception area. Change shower screens so enclosed. Positives : location for museum area and park and bus too and from airport. Negatives: Needs to be cleaner, more welcoming. No tourist information available ( only a free map on a table ).

First day I arrived I wasn’t informed of any maintenance or repairs at the hotel and they didn’t present this information on their website The room had two wires hanging out the wall with a peice of tape stuck over them. Bathroom had no storage no where to put bathroom toiletries The wardrobe was no bigger than 40cm with 4 Hangers a very small desk No room amenities no kettle or iron no air con etc In the reception area their was a kettle that I had to fill in my room due to broken taps but was only allowed to boil it in the reception asked for cups and told yes but they are not clean On one day one staff member told me to keep the kettle from the desk in our room then on arrival back that night I was told abruptly you can’t keep the kettle in the room even though I didn’t ask for it I was told to put it made the room the staff member denied telling me I pad for a garden view / balcony and the view I got was a storage shed with a small patch of stone we were informed that smoking through those doors was prohibited however their was cigarette butts on the floor The door only opened foward a tiny bit and our room was the accessible route to their storage shed Only positive was staff were lovely

Clean, renovated room with single bed. Location only a few blocks from Leidensplein and 397 to/from airport. Under going improvements so some noise during the day but not too loud. There is an elevator, but you must call it to your floor with the button and then once inside, wait for the inside door panels to close THEN select your floor. Then upon exit, inside door panels will open and then open door. 0 is ground. Staff very helpful and responsive to hotels.com messages through app. Upon arrival at 12pm, I was able to pay an early check-in fee which it was worth it for me as I flew from the US and did not sleep on the plane. Also, they offered upon availability to pay €10 per hour for late checkout, which I also took advantage of for one hour to leave at noon instead of 11 AM. It was convenient as they took it from the €50 deposit at check-in. Note that on the auto response I received from Hotels.com when I made the reservation that it was a cash deposit which it is not, it’s ran through a credit card. Unfortunately, I had gone and took out euros that I did not use.

We were given a dirty room (photos provided to reception) but then not offered an upgrade as a gesture of goodwill.
