As advertised, this hotel doubles as an art museum. The decorations are jaw-dropping. Our room was comfortable, with good A/C and shower. The staff was friendly and attentive. The front desk staff answered our questions and helped us arrange a Mount Bromo tour, and even greeted us by name whenever we passed. The pool area was nice and, though small, was not used much so we had no trouble finding space. We enjoyed the two restaurants and the cafe, eating most of our meals there, and they even prepared early-morning breakfast boxes for us to take on our Mount Bromo tour. We enjoyed the daily tea, which was served in another very pleasant space. The hotel seems to be centrally located, within walking distance of parks, banks, and shops. It helps that Malang itself is very pleasant, cooler and greener than other cities we visited in Indonesia.

A jewel of East Java. Staying at Tugu is an experience in its own right … with an internationally important art collection on display, a feature pool, afternoon tea, a fine cocktail bar and dining options on site. Truly the most attentive staff and helpful staff. My one suggestion is to better inform guests of breakfast options available to them … although priced differently (but still reasonably) the a la carte is a substantially different offering for European guests compared with the buffet. An all round exceptional and memorable experience.

Superbe séjour dans ce bel hôtel TUGU, de l’accueil parfait aux nombreux services, spa, petit déjeuner, bar et restaurants. Personnel très agréable et professionnel. De plus l’accès en 5mn à la gare et l’hôtel idéalement situé en plein centre et à quelques minutes des principales visites de Malang.

The Tugu Malang is amazing. This was our third visit (the others were 25 and 8 years ago) and we treated ourselves to an Executive Suite. The complimentary afternoon tea has some great options and the breakfast is delicious. The welcome massage was very pleasant. The room was quiet and dark, perfect for sleeping. The guided tour of the owner's collection was really informative. When we left, we were going to get a Grab to the station but the hotel provided a transfer free of charge. Just a couple of minor issues: the bed was harder than we like (but most beds in Indonesia are) and the pool was cold.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Tugu Malang. The building is unique and gorgeous, and filled with very interesting decorations and artifacts. They offer a free guided tour of the hotel to explain some of the history about these decorations and artifacts. The staff is very attentive, the rooms are nice and have character, the hotel is environmentally conscious, and the food is excellent. The hotel is in the center of Malang and within walking distance of things to see such as Kajoetangan Heritage Village.

Amazing property in the centre of old Malang city. Walking distance from the blue, rainbow and heritage kampungs. Staff was very friendly and made sure all our needs were met. The hotel has 2 in-house restaurants and we also made use of the spa (which was amazing). Definitely pinned this hotel for possible future visits. Great atmosphere as you feel you are on an island of peace in a bustling Indonesian city.

Wir hatten eine Suite gebucht und wurden bereits beim Check-in positiv überrascht: Uns wurden jeweils 15 Minuten Massage kostenlos angeboten. Am Nachmittag gab es zudem kostenfreien Tee mit lokalen Süßigkeiten. Das Frühstück war eine wunderbare Kombination aus À-la-carte-Service und Buffet – liebevoll angerichtet, äußerst vielfältig und geschmacklich hervorragend. Die Zimmerausstattung ist zwar etwas älter, aber sehr komfortabel und gepflegt. Es wäre wirklich schade, die antiken Möbel durch moderne zu ersetzen, da sie den besonderen Charme des Hauses ausmachen. Insgesamt ein absolutes Sultan-Erlebnis in diesem Hotel.

Prachtig hotel met zeer gastvrije ontvangst. Mooi restaurant met heerlijk eten. Kamer was zeer schoon en comfortabel. Receptie heeft een tocht per betjak voor ons geregeld langs oa de coloured village. Echt een aanrader, dit hotel! We hadden hier wel langer willen blijven…

Emplacement top : 5 min de la gare à pieds, hôtel magnifique, on ne sait pas si on est dans un musée ou un hôtel. J’ai essayé 2 restaurants de l’hôtel, les 2 était parfaits. Petit déjeuné top ! Massages au spa très bien. La chambre (j’avais la moins chère de l’hôtel) était décevante : fenêtre donnant sur un mur, chambre petite.

This is an outstanding Hotel! By far the best and nicest hotel we have stayed at in Indonesia. It is filled with fascinating antiques. The staff bends over backwards and the food in the restaurant was excellent with a huge selection. One person in our party had to go to the hospital and the hotel could not have been more helpful accommodating. They let us feed the fish and the rooms even have a beautiful bathtub.

The staff bends over backwards and the food in the restaurant was excellent with a huge selection. One person in our party had to go to the hospital and the hotel could not have been more helpful accommodating. They let us feed the fish and the rooms even have a beautiful bathtub.

As advertised, this hotel doubles as an art museum. The decorations are jaw-dropping. Our room was comfortable, with good A/C and shower. The staff was friendly and attentive. The front desk staff answered our questions and helped us arrange a Mount Bromo tour, and even greeted us by name whenever we passed. The pool area was nice and, though small, was not used much so we had no trouble finding space. We enjoyed the two restaurants and the cafe, eating most of our meals there, and they even prepared early-morning breakfast boxes for us to take on our Mount Bromo tour. We enjoyed the daily tea, which was served in another very pleasant space. The hotel seems to be centrally located, within walking distance of parks, banks, and shops. Das schönste Hotel, dass ich je besucht habe. Es gab viel zu entdecken und war wirklich einmalig, wie ein Museum. Das Personal war so freundlich und zuvorkommend, jede einzelne Person, mit der wir zu tun hatten. Das Frühstück war einfach nur perfekt. Ein Muss in Malang und auf jeden Fall mehrere Nächte einplanen, das Hotel muss man genießen!

They offer a free guided tour of the hotel to explain some of the history about these decorations and artifacts. Amazing property in the centre of old Malang city. Walking distance from the blue, rainbow and heritage kampungs. Staff was very friendly and made sure all our needs were met. The hotel has 2 in-house restaurants and we also made use of the spa (which was amazing). Definitely pinned this hotel for possible future visits. Das Frühstück war eine wunderbare Kombination aus À-la-carte-Service und Buffet – liebevoll angerichtet, äußerst vielfältig und geschmacklich hervorragend. Die Zimmerausstattung ist zwar etwas älter, aber sehr komfortabel und gepflegt. Es wäre wirklich schade, die antiken Möbel durch moderne zu ersetzen, da sie den besonderen Charme des Hauses ausmachen. Insgesamt ein absolutes Sultan-Erlebnis in diesem Hotel.

Staying at Tugu is an experience in its own right … with an internationally important art collection on display, a feature pool, afternoon tea, a fine cocktail bar and dining options on site. Truly the most attentive staff and helpful staff. My one suggestion is to better inform guests of breakfast options available to them … although priced differently (but still reasonably) the a la carte is a substantially different offering for European guests compared with the buffet. An all round exceptional and memorable experience.

Het is een prachtig hotel en tegelijk een museum. Het is ongelooflijk wat voor mooie kunstwerken er allemaal staan. Het personeel is supervriendelijk. Voor het ontbijt is er een overvloedige keuze, ook voor de lunch en het diner. Ons verblijf was een zeer aangename ervaring.
