Great place to stay, staff are lovely with a 24 hour reception. Location fantastic as a base for travelling around Auckland. Carparking great with a great pool and spa. Located right on the basin/lagoon there is a really nice walk . We had a loft room which was great for our week long trip it was a little home away from home.

Good things - Very spacious, we appreciated our room was partitioned between the beds, and seemed very quiet. We had a accessible shower which is fine but water goes everywhere. Also great to have free parking, and good proximity to Sylvia park. The gym was more equipped than most, spa pool was a little cold, although the bar/dining seemed quite expensive, and got charged an extra $1.50 for having a coffee takeaway, which is ridiculous.

Really well kept property - I stayed here two nights and had breakfast and dinner here on both nights, the food was unreal! The gym had a good range of equipment and the staff at this hotel were so lovely! There is also a beautiful walk around the lake if you fancy some nature!

The Waipuna was the most expensive property that we stayed in while in Auckland. Two words: Deferred Maintenance. The carpet in our room was burned (previous cigarette burns?), the safety of several electrical outlets was questionable, the drapes had mold on the inside, and the phone in the bath was (quite literally) hanging on by a cord. (I have photos.) Given that this was the Presidential Suite, we were truly disappointed. Also, rather than placing a hold on a credit card for incidentals (as would be the case in any other hotel), the property insisted on tacking on an additional NZ$100 charge to our card until they determined we hadn't damaged the room (refunded later but could take a week or longer.) If this is standard practice, it should be called out in Expedia's terms. The property has seen better days. Given our experience, we strongly suggest seeking an alternative property for your stay in greater Auckland.

The bathroom door would not secure on its own, we had to place the trash bin aginst it to keep it closed. The shower had writing on the glass as if it was not cleaned from the prior guests. There was also water in the kettle from the previous guests.

Staff were all fantastic, room wasnt the cleanest though. Stains on the furniture, an uncleaned side table with sticky drink marks all over it and the bed was made terribly with no duvet cover which didnt seem the most hygienic to me.

We travelled from Kaipara for a 50th and decided to stay close to the venue for convenience. The room was great, had a lovely view of the water and contained everything we needed. We enjoyed a soak in the spa but felt the temperature could be increased for more warmth and relaxation. The property as a whole was nice and well maintained for an older facility. The only negative was the level of cleanliness in our bathroom. Clumps and smears of shampoo/conditioner were on the glass shower window, evident this was not cleaned between visits. The standard of cleanliness around the toilet and basin were also abismal, only the easy to reach parts were cleaned, leaving build up of dirt and dust evident in others along with smears on the mirror. A rushed job maybe.

I was charged twice for my room booking and have yet to be refunded any money despite providing evidence of the original payment via expedia. To top it off the toilet leaked in our bathroom. So far I have not found my stay at Waipuna to have been a pleasant one.

Upon check in, waited for a long period of time and then they took my passport as ID and never gave it back. I got to the room, some of the lamps didn’t work, some of the lights didn’t work and so was super dark, my window was left open so when I entered the room at night it was freezing inside, the tv also just was stuck on loading the whole time. I then wasn’t given my passport on check out(also my fault for forgetting I gave it) and I had to rush back to the hotel where I could have missed my flight. If I wasn’t staying there one night for few hours I would have moved accom.

The pictures of the presidential suite we booked were great, showing a lovely view of the Panmure Basin. Our suite had great facilities but had a view straight onto a massive electrical pylon. Breakfast was ok except for the coffee which was awful. In a hotel of this rating I expect a bean to coffee machine or table served barista coffee. The dishwater on offer was awful.

An excellent hotel. Very clean and comfortable with attentive and knowledgeable staff. The restaurant is beautiful, with views of the water and the meal we had was extremely well cooked and very tasty! The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was quiet Bathroom was great. We swam in the pool, which was nice but the spa didn’t look like it had been used for a while and needed a clean That’s my only niggle. It’s a super place to stay in a lovely location.

Hotel is in need of upgrading works. it looks dated. The bed and linens are clean, but it is too soft for me, as I personally like a firmer mattress. The front counter service is good though - Polite and professional. The breakfast is buffet but with limited choices. Not enough coffee cups and only 1 coffee machine can't cope with some crowds when they are hosting convention events. For me, it's not worth paying for breakfast.

Attended a conference, only ate at the conference centre and became extremely sick with suspected food poisoning as did others at same conference. Room very very tired and devoid of any kitchen equipment although there was a fridge and microwave.

We always go and stay here. Highly recommend for people looking for a central spot in auckland. Sylvia park mall is literally a walking 10mins distance. Travelling to central, south or west of auckland is a breeze with motorway ramps and train station nearby.
