Quick 8pm to 11am stay on path elsewhere. Preface with hotel under construction but prices the same. Got given 4th floor room. Clearly a room they have not got to yet. Bathroom decent- room old musty no Internet and no tv channels paint peeling off wall. Walked past 3rd floor room as elevator goes to 4 only. And it was nicer. Superb location for a quick stay in donegal town. Centrally located.

This hotel is amazing! Clean, quiet and the food here is great! Staff at the bar restaurant were amazing! Great Irish music at night too. No onsite parking but lots of parking close by.

Two flights of stairs to fourth floor, lift only goes to third floor. Whole place needs refurbishment. Staff great but let down by overall condition of hotel. Plus they need to be upfront about lack of facilities such as a lift to every floor. Older and disabled people would be very poorly served by this facility.

This hotel was charming. There was live music and the staff were overly hospitable. On the downside, our sink didn’t drain, the WiFi didn’t work and the room was stuffy. The rooms could use some updates. But can’t say that I wouldn’t recommend this place.

he Abbey Hotel is centrally located in Donegal Town, which made it incredibly convenient for walking around, sightseeing, and enjoying local restaurants and shops. The staff were kind and helpful, even during what seemed to be a busy event happening on the property the day I arrived — things were a bit hectic, but they handled it well and remained courteous throughout. That said, there are a couple of things future guests should be aware of: the hotel does not have air conditioning, and unfortunately, this isn't clearly stated on Expedia. My room was very warm, and with the window barely opening, there was little airflow to cool things down — especially uncomfortable for those of us who tend to run hot. This definitely affected the comfort level of my stay. Overall, the location and staff were great, but the lack of A/C and limited ventilation in the room are important factors to consider, especially if you're traveling during warmer months.

Our room was uncomfortably warm at all times during our stay (late June and it was NOT a heat wave). No A/C and a window that could only be opened a couple of inches. The loud late-night noise from the pub and club goers who hung around in front of the hotel until well after 3 AM after the bars closed made it hard to sleep, especially if we needed to open the window to try to cool the room. Overnight staff was unsympathetic to our situation.

Their wi Fi did not work with any consistance and their beds were very lumpy and uncomfortable

Things I loved: the food at the hotel, the condition of the property, the nightly music in the bar (awesome musicians!), the central location. Things I wasn’t so fond of: the parking (the hotel has none, and parking in the municipal lots or on the street was nearly impossible to find when I was there), and the staff attitude. People were businesslike, but there was little of the open friendliness I’ve encountered everywhere else I’ve stayed in Ireland, and a few people gave an impression of “we’re the Abbey Hotel, and you mere customer should be humbly grateful that we deign to let you stay here.”

This is a very old hotel and we knew that but it is very dated looking and could use a refresh in some areas. The carpet in our room was disgusting.

The hotel is somewhat dated but rooms very large so no real issue there. Bar was very good with a proper range of beers not just lagers and stout so a real plus. The real issue for me is the poor quality of a E15 priced breakfast. 1. No white or black puddingh which is a first for me in an Irish hotel and I have stayed in many 2. You can only get toast that is pre-made which is odd 3. No hash browns but roast pots-strange 4. Considering it would cater for many tourists no croissants, cheeses or cold meats When I asked about it at reception( the breakfast) I was told- 'that is the breakfast we serve' well not good enough at that price The other issue is asking for an invoice on a reception counter sticky with a spilt drink which was also on the floor at 9 AM in the morning. Not a great look. Cost was E164 for B and B which is par for the course for Ireland alas

We arrived on Tuesday evening. No where else to stay in the area, so opted for here. Price was ok. Room was large, but dated with old mahogany style furniture. No air conditioning in room 110. Bathroom was good with great shower. The fan duct was full of dust. Needed cleaning. Dated bathroom. There was a sign up stating that there was refurbishing of rooms happening and apologised for the decor. The breakfast cost us 30 Euro next morning and was disappointing. No fruit left and cooked breakfast was onver cooked and dry. I had to go looking for tea/coffee as staff were thin on the ground.

Upon entering the room immediately hit by loud humming and clanking noise. Talked to the front desk person and asked what could be done for the noise, they offered to send a handy person to check it out while we were out for dinner. After dinner came back to the front desk and they assured me that the noise was from the kitchen fan and would stop as soon as the dinner service was over which would be soon. We went up to our room where we realized there was only one cup for tea. Having had an unfriendly exchange with the front desk, my husband went down for a second cup. While we we’re getting ready for bed the toilet paper holder fell off the wall and I noticed that there was a sticky substance on my bedside table. The noise continued through the night and I was woken many times. In the light of the next day noticed many additional things about the room that were unclean: all surfaces sticky, crumbs on the chair, and the most disgusting was a used bandaid stuck to the headboard. While checking out I informed the person at the front desk about all the issues. They told me that there were many rooms and I should have requested a room change. I explained that that option wasn’t provided the previous night when I asked about the noise and we didn’t notice most of the uncleanliness until the morning light. The front desk person continued to blame me for not getting a new room. Shocking lack of customer service.

Close to many attractions, Clean rooms, and friendly staff.

Horrible. Not what I thought. Should have looked better at the pictures but they were misleading. The entire hotel was filthy. And the room…even worse. Gross, filthy, made my skin crawl. There was a greasy handprint above the bed and the chairs were ripped. I didn’t stay. I left!

The room was clean and spacious; however, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable and in desperate need of a new mattress. The front desk staff were courteous and efficient. Breakfast buffet was plentiful but average quality food and not worth the price. Also, the dining area was poorly cleaned. Great location in the middle of Donegal town.

Very nice hotel. Location is amazing! Friendly staff. Beds are pretty firm though.

The bed was terrible, way to soft, lumpy. It shoukd be replaced.

Room was noisy with an extractor fan just outside our room. Even with the window closed it was noisy. We complained and even though it was turned off it still made a noise. We complained a further 3 times before we were reluctantly moved. If you get this room complain immediately you will know as it is noisy when you enter the room, don’t accept that it will be fine when it is turned off later in the evening, as we were told.

The hotel was in a fabulous position. The room was spacious and very comfortable.

Just a one night stay. There was confusion about our booking when checking in. The receptionist was patient and attentive to our concerns and upgraded our room free of charge, so our thanks to her.

My sister, brother in law, husband and myself stayed at the Abbey hotel while on a road trip through Ireland. Unfortunately my brother in law passed while we were in Donegal town. Eirleene and the team could not have been more supportive, understanding and accommodating. They made such a massive loss less stressful by arranging us to lengthen our stay, numerous hugs and pure kindness. We will be forever grateful to them.

The staff are amazing and the room is very cozy.

The staff was very helpful in holding our delayed luggage until we arrived to their hotel. They kept in touch and let us know when it arrived. The staff was very friendly.

Checking in and out was quick and easy. Good recommendations for food and music at check in. Breakfast was good with lots of options. Long walk to our room, lights out by our lift. Had to park nearby at public car park.

Excellent, central location. Walkable to everything we wanted. 3 min walk to Donegal Castle. Pay & display parking is off-site but not too far away.

Old but well maintained property. We got a nice room with terrace view. Heart of the city center. No issues except for the parking. Parking was tough as to be expected in city center area. Loved our stay.

Great location. The bus stop right outside may either be a bonus or deterrent as lots of people hang out there.

Love this hotel in the heart of Donegal. What a cool little town. So close to everything. 3 carparks in the area, and so many little shops, pubs and restaurants. The hotel was great, room was fine in size for the night we stayed and amenities were fine.

Staff were pleasant. Seafood Chowder was not impressed.

We spent 1 night at the Abbey in Donegal en route from the North Antrim Coast to Galway. The hotel is clean and comfortable, with great on-site dining options. The staff is friendly, welcoming and very helpful. There is no on-site parking, which is a bit of a hassle, but that would be the only (very small...) problem - we enjoyed our stay at the Abbey and would definitely return.

Stay was good. Hotel could do with a good refurbished. €15 for a very average breakfast. Have had better for less.

The food was great the staff were all very friendly and the place was decorated very well. I would definitely stay at the Abby again.
