It was an excellent budget option and the hot tub was nice to have.

Pros: Room was large and open... Bed was pretty comfy... Desk staff was friendly... Room was clean as I would have expected... Waking distance to the Boardwalk, etc. Cons: if you like to sleep on rocks for pillows, you're good here, otherwise bring your own... The pillows (all 4 of them) totally sucked and made for a really crappy night's sleep.... We were in their extension across the street, so if we wanted to use the pool, we had to cross over through traffic to the main facility (didn't happen... Seen people coming back that were freezing from the walk across and waiting on traffic)... Had the option of parking on the side of the main facility and crossing the street to the extension, if the parking lot was full (no idea what the plan would be if both were full), as there was limited parking... There was no shelf in the bath to place items on for getting ready, etc, and there was no drain stopper on the sink, so in the end, I lost a small bottle of prescription eye drops down the drain, that my insurance will not replace at this time, unless I pay for it or of pocket. Would I stay here again? Maybe... But they need to list the issues with their set up, and fix the issues.. If I can't sleep or swim, that's a hard no for me. If I have to worry about losing items down the sink drain, we have a bigger problem.

Our stay was last minute arrangement. Hotel was clean. Street was loud, didnt notice the complementary ear plugs until check out. Hot tub was a residential size and uncomfortably secluded. Pool was unmentionable.

I didn’t like that the pool was across the street

Did Not Like the Advertised Pool & Spa..... The Spa is kept inside aged wooden gazebo located in the rear parking lot of the hotel, not inside the property itself so you have to walk out into the parking lot to enter the spa. The Hotel is split into properties, so the Pool is located across the street "Ocean Street" which is a busy with all kinds of traffic day & night. The guests can either make a unsafe dash across the street, or walk down to the nearest intersection and cross only having to double back to the hotel property. Doing this wearing your swimsuits, flop-flops/crocs, while you carry towels etc is both uncomfortable & unsafe......

Like the room set up. We stayed in the building across from the office. The parking is horrible. The parking is very narrow. The pool maximum people is 6. The pool was on our side of the street if you want the hot tub you have to cross a busy street to the other hotel building.

Me and my friend stayed only for 2 nights, it was super duper chill. If you not gonna be in the hotel a lot, and just using for sleeping and showering I would book. Cheap hotel, good vibes and nice place. Would reccomend to stay, they chill ash. Hot tub is nice and pool lowkey fun!

Payed 359 for a one night stay, pricey for the experience and no breakfast the building is on both sides of a busy Main Street one side has the pool and the other side has the jacuzzi very inconvenient having to run across the street with lil ones the pool looks like no maintenance super small lots of leafs floating and on the bottom water super cold so we went back to the other side of the street jacuzzi was ok till we got in we where in a jacuzzi full of chlorine so strong I got super sick kids eyes where super red then the room smelt like rotten egg coming out of bathroom then a big black spider right on the headboard

Traveled with Family. The guy at check in was very friendly and checked me in with no problems. The hotel was decent, but there was 2 parts to the hotel across the stree from each other. It had a pool on the side we were on but a hot tub on the other side which you had to cross a very busy street. It was a little noisy but we were still able to sleep. I liked the set up of the room. There was 2 rooms with the bathroom in the middle. Over all it was a nice place for a good price.

It was very close to the boardwalk area. There was food options in walking distance. The pool was small. Parking was not always available in the same lot as the room. The shampoo was half full upon check in.

I regularly go to Santa Cruz for business trips & this is my favorite place to stay. Safe, centrally located, and super friendly staff. The rooms are always clean, beds cozy, and they don't skimp on quality of towels, shampoo, etc. :)

You could tell this room was dirty right when you walk through the door, the base boards seemed like they were falling apart, one part was already half way off the wall, dirt and scuffs all over the walls, bed sheets were dirty (you were able to scratch off some sort of food off the sheet with your fingernail) elevator in the building across the street from the office makes a odd scratching noise. Unfortunately wouldn't stay again :(

I found mold spores throughout room and bathroom. I didn’t notice it right away, in fact not until the next day sadly. The AC unit smelled like mold which sent me into a panic the next morning as my husband has asthma. I started looking around to find black mold forming on the walls and around the door. When we woke after sleeping in the room both my husband and I didn’t feel good. The room was moist, stuffy and smelled like mold. My husband and I both were congested, puffy eyes and my husband felt his breathing was restricted. After notifying the front desk as well as showed the lady pictures, she apologized, hoped we would feel better and handed me a receipt. Even after this horrible stay we are not being refunded at all. I would not recommend staying at Continental Inn.

Stayed for one night. The room was nice and clean, some of the furniture was a bit outdated and beat up but that is not a huge a deal. The hotel is close to the boardwalk. Will definitely be staying here again.

All of the pillows were like flat rocks and it was incredibly loud (poorly insulated) so we didn’t get any sleep. The air conditioning unit was filthy so we were all coughing and congested every night and morning as well. The walls and doors had obviously never been wiped down, there was hair and what looked liked boogers all over them. The ironing board looked like it came from a dump site, absolutely disgusting. The elevator was filthy as well, it looked like there was blood splatter on the inside of the door. You couldn’t pay me to come back here.

Went on a family vacation for the weekend. Hotel was close to all the main attractions. Staff was very friendly, room was very clean. We also used a black light to check the bed and pillows and everything was clean! Basic, comfortable stay nothing fancy and good deal.

The property is okay it’s not horrible I just noticed that the room is not as clean as it should be. A lot of splatters on the walls and dirty hand prints on the walls. Our room also smelled really bad because of the bathroom like sewage.

This review is solely for the room. The room is outdated with some of the fixtures showing signs of rust. The floors really needed to be mopped and the lamps were so dusty.

I liked that there were two property options across from eachother. Our room was a double room with 2 tvs. It was clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

Check in was a breeze, room was clean and spacious, ac was cool, good tv and WiFi. Checkout was also quick. Staff is friendly

Suite room, beds in separate rooms. Two sinks made it convenient for two women.

Average motel. Bed was not comfortable, unfortunately.

Everything was great. I liked the room size and the mini fridge was helpful. The bed was a little stiff and the blankets not comfortable.

The staff were really nice and the location was perfect. I stayed in a single room and if was comfortable, but some wear and tear. The shower made a screeching noise when the hot water was on. The traffic noise was a bit loud and the walls are a little thin, but I had my noise machine so it was fine haha. Overall I’d stay there again :)

The cleanliness was fine, the front office staff was great. We were upstairs facing the gas station, on a Sunday night. It was loud outside, at night people were coming and going. Just people closing their doors reverberates a lot. We woke up several times. It is cheaper than our preferred hotel so next time we will save up.

Location and price were good. We could hear the people upstairs until 1:15 am moving furniture

The Rooms did not look like it is pictured on Google. Rooms need to be repainted , shower head rusted , lots of rust thought out the room on anything metal.Blowdryer did not work. Tv remote needed new batteries. The bed was comfortable and thats what mattered the most for me. But walls are thin and can hear all activities in the room next door. Its OK for a night or 2 , just to sleep and get ready . Location was great 25 minute walk to the Boardwalk . Ten minute walk to Downtown Santa Cruz.

The staff person at check in was not friendly and acted as if we were inconveniencing her. At checkout, they didn’t ask if we had a good stay or if we liked our room. The room was ok but dark. The me wall was painted dark brown which was ugly and made the room dark even with the lights on.

No communication when something is wrong. Front desk phone doesn’t work. When no water, nobody notified us.

The staff were great. Friendly. Helpful when needed.

Worst check-in process EVER. Right after we parked our car in the lot around 10PM, all of the exterior lights went out. Like a horror movie scene where the ax-murder cuts the power right before he kills you. I headed towards the bright lights of front desk office. Little side check-in window was completely USELESS as it's still pitch dark outside and I can't see any of the paperwork or the receptionist thru the plexiglass over the blowing wind. Eventually he let us inside and we got our keys. At this point, all the lights were STILL out, so we unloaded the car in the dark. (Most rooms were asleep, so it was almost completely dark.) Did not feel safe to go up the shaky stairs IN THE DARK to our 2nd floor room… …And the keys didn’t work. I went back down for new keys, got new keys, went back up, and nope, new keys didn’t work either. Repeat this process 5 times (I lost count). Receptionist was increasingly overwhelmed between me, new people checking in, and calling about the power. Mind you, each time I returned from front desk, I kept hitting my toes on concrete stairs because it’s COMPLETELY DARK and I’m in flipflops. My husband was worried our items might roll/fall off the 2nd floor walk-way and onto the property next door, so he just stood there for an hour, in the dark, holding all of our belongings in the cold. FINALLY receptionist went upstairs to let us into the room. It’s 1.5 hours later AND we STILL didn’t have working keys!!! Gave up and went to bed, no keys.

Reservation for 4 persons but the lady gave us a very small room with 1 double bed. It even looked like a twin bed to me. You have to cross the road to get to the other building. Maybe the lady didn't pay attention the details of my reservation. I complained and the relief staff gave me the right room.

I reallly appreciated their williness to accomodate me--I needed early check-in and they were very responsive. The place is centrally locate, clean and no issues with parking. The manager was extermely nice. Made my stay for my nephew's graduation very pleasent.

Customer service was not good, place seemed run down.

Great staff and clean rooms. Good taco truck next door. Central location on a busy intersection, but didn't pose problems. Homeless the same everywhere; they stayed off the property.

Hotel is next to a busy cross street and felt a little insecure. Parking is limited and spaces are very small. The rooms are outdated. I believe that the price was too much for what it was.

Quick check in, room is clean & quiet. Walkable to downtown Santa Cruz within a mile.

This is a motel type but very clean and convenient to most places.

Overall a good experience, very walkable and interesting area.

The employee was very nice and helpful. But I would of like a complementary breakfast. Even if it was coffee and Danish and a piece of fruit.

This is a perfectly adequate place to stay, but for the price it should have been better. The room had a strong smell of some kind of deodorizer. No elevator, no food options, terrible parking.

Room was clean and smell clean. Bed was clean and comfy. Bathroom clean. Limited TV channels, whoever installed the cabling for the TVs to work with Direct TV had no idea how a converted from coax to HDMI has affect on the receiver. Nuts. There's a good Chinese restaurant right next to the second property. Parking could be tricky. My room was across the street from the main building. 😒🙄

Room is very spacious, clean and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is close to UCSC, Santa Cruz Broadway and Downtown. But the area is quiet. Plenty of parking. Chinese restaurants across the street and it’s food is good. Chevron close by. The hotel rate is excellent. Pet friendly.

It was positive experience for a 1 night stay: the room was spacy and with fridge as well as coffee machine, quiet - all OK. The location is still east walking distance to the beach and downtown, many coffee shops and vegan eating place around, also Trader's Joe and Enterprise rental car.
