The rooms are really lovely and beds are comfortable, it's a nice place to stay and a unique experience with the double level bathrooms with standing bath. Downsides are the bath wasn't totally clean and had black stuff in it, and there was a lot of noise being close to the entry/stairs. Parking is also very limited and not monitored which isn't included on the listing. There is street parking at cost and with time limits around the corner but the area isn't great for this, the staff did try to alleviate concerns but came across as quite condescending. I wouldn't bring a car here if at all possible. The service in the bar was a bit slow but was very good, staff were attentive and quick to sort things out. It's a good night for a luxurious stay.

Really disappointing stay after staying in many HDV's and this one so many times. The bed was really uncomfortable; the pillows were all soft and so uncomfortable; and they had the wrong size sheet on (or badly managed) so that it kept moving meaning I ended up sleeping direct on the mattress. When I was asked for my views on checking out, I mentioned this. The receptionist didn't even acknowledge this and simply said: "You owe £15 for the parking". I actually thought the better response would have been to waive that charge! There are lots of other hotels in Newcastle where there would be no isuses with comfort and, if there were, they would actually acknowledge the compliant they instigated.

We were not informed that the restaurant was closed for a private function when we booked the hotel and was not mentioned when we checked in. We only found out when we went to eat. Room service had one vegan option so ended up ordering in to eat.

Great place as stayed in on of the suite looking over the water, check was quick despite a couple of issues but resolved quick. Parking charged at £15.00 for onsite parking which I always think should be included. Suite was excellent, we had dinner and breakfast which was fresh and prompt

Celebratory night away following Champagne Afternoon Tea at the hotel, Views from the bedroom of the Tyne were breathtaking Check in managed efficiently Service by friendly and efficient staff in Bistro was very good. No elevators. Hauled luggage 3 flights of stairs. No help offered. Claims to have free parking. That’s only very limited and you have to be there first. We had to pay and haul our stuff up cobbled streets! However, room was amazing!!!!! Food was great! Can’t say enough good about the suite!

The room on floor 1 was very noisy.due to traffic! It was as if our windows were open it was so loud. Other than that the room was excellent. Some wait staff were rather “snooty”. Breakfast was grossly over priced @ £24! Parking is very limited, we had to park in a metered area for 1.5 days

Beautiful conversion & repurposing of an old building in the Hotel du Vin individual style, particularly liked the courtyard and open air eating/ drinking option. Bar is pleasant with great cocktails. Room was fine but could do with updating soft furnishing…. toilet didn’t work well & broke on final morning.

Great time at the Hotel which is just outside the city centre - about a fifteen minute walk by the river and quayside. The hotel is also well situated for visits to the biscuit factory and ouseburn. Hotel was clean and friendly - very nice bistro - staff very professional and helpful.

It is a great and beautiful property. The rooms are cozy and delightful. I had a restless night as the room was very dusty. I woke up at 1 am to wipe down the entire bed frame, nightstands, art above the bed, etc. The next more I realise that though the room was "cleaned" - it appeared not to have been dusted in at least a season.

Ive stayed at the hotel du vin before and loved it, but this time was a different story, perhaps because I had a dog with me? Receptionist unfriendly and even ignored me when I asked if the upgrade lottery had any dog friendly rooms. The room itself had dust on every surface including thick grey dust on the ornaments very high up, gunk on the soap dispenser and just generally the bathroom didn't feel clean, hairs in the bath etc. I smiled and said hello to staff who met my eye but didn't even smile back. No one came to collect my room service hanger that I put out at 9pm (I couldn't go to breakfast in the dining room because of the dog) and when I went to ask about my options on discovering the hanger I was just met with a shrug, no apology, and was told I could purchase breakfast "if I wanted". Really disappointing. I love that the hotel du vin welcomes dogs for a fee, but I was also a bit surprised that the dog bed provided was absolutely covered in dog hair from previous pooches that went all over the floor when it was chucked down as well.

Cannot fault our stay. Staff, particularly Jack at the bar were absolutely amazing! So friendly, couldn’t be more helpful, with a smile on their face even right at the end of the shift. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here next time we visit Newcastle. Room was clean, well proportioned and tastefully decorated. Brilliant for the money we paid.

It was fine, not exemplary. Some staff seemed a little fed up and lacklustre. Service seemed to be an effort for some. Others were really good. The chap who seated us for breakfast and then was serving drinks in the lounge late morning was brilliant, cheerful and attentive. The room was ok if a little tired. The split of sink and bath at one end of the bedroom separated from the WC was odd and the low windows meant having to keep curtains closed as faced either shower or bath. Odd layout. A few minor cleanliness issues in the room but nothing too bad.

The stayed at this hotel many times before five years ago. I was looking forward to my stay but unfortunately standards a have slipped greatly. Splashes to tooth paste on the bathroom mirror, marks on the laps and hand prints on the light switches and windowsill. I found alot of hair that wasnt mine. Glassesin the room had dust on and unclean. Even the hall way carpet was well dirty. I will not be staying again. Great shame!

Quirky room with a shower room and bath but the bed was so so uncomfortable. The lighting in the room was non-existent. Even the bathroom areas were extremely dim. Location is fine, however, parking is limited so parked 'illegally' in a Sports Club carpark with a risk of being clamped as there was no other parking around nearby. Evening meal was ok, but choices on the menu were limited unless you like steak or fish - there was only one chicken option AND all extremely expensive

An excellent and very good value stay. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The parking is not as large as it should be but on a Saturday night there is free parking across the road. The room was very large and exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast is lovely with lots of choice … very good value as included in our package.

Lovely comfortable room - with a beautiful shower and a bathtub. Note you get coffee Nespresso machine and tea (hidden below the tv!) We had a view onto the Tyne with the city in the background.

Clean and tidy rooms. Convenient location for town. The hotel lets itself down though by simply not having enough staff to justify the cost. Really disappointing stay after staying in many HDV's and this one so many times. The bed was really uncomfortable; the pillows were all soft and so uncomfortable; and they had the wrong size sheet on (or badly managed) so that it kept moving meaning I ended up sleeping direct on the mattress. When I was asked for my views on checking out, I mentioned this. The receptionist didn't even acknowledge this and simply said: "You owe £15 for the parking". I actually thought the better response would have been to waive that charge! There are lots of other hotels in Newcastle where there would be no isuses with comfort and, if there were, they would actually acknowledge the compliant they instigated.

Ive stayed at the hotel du vin before and loved it, but this time was a different story, perhaps because I had a dog with me? Receptionist unfriendly and even ignored me when I asked if the upgrade lottery had any dog friendly rooms. The room itself had dust on every surface including thick grey dust on the ornaments very high up, gunk on the soap dispenser and just generally the bathroom didn't feel clean, hairs in the bath etc. I smiled and said hello to staff who met my eye but didn't even smile back. No one came to collect my room service hanger that I put out at 9pm (I couldn't go to breakfast in the dining room because of the dog) and when I went to ask about my options on discovering the hanger I was just met with a shrug, no apology, and was told I could purchase breakfast "if I wanted". Really disappointing. I love that the hotel du vin welcomes dogs for a fee, but I was also a bit surprised that the dog bed provided was absolutely covered in dog hair from previous pooches that went all over the floor when it was chucked down as well.

We felt the room was very average for the price paid. The service at breakfast this morning was poor. Service very slow. Waited 30 mins for a cup of coffee before getting my own from the coffee machine and waited 30 mins before breakfast order was taken. Clearly not enough staff to cater for the demand. Wouldn't recommend to a friend.

Incredible all round. I booked a junior suite, it was for my anniversary. I notified the staff and they really were exceptional making us feel special with a beautiful room, some Lindt chocolates and free cocktails. Everyone was so engaging, especially Jonathan who greeted us and checked us in. Stunning hotel, great location, beautiful rooms, fantastic staff. What more could you want! I will be back :) thanks

Stayed on the 4th floor in one of the rooms with the tub on the second floor. Really enjoyed our time. Luckily, on a hot day, our room had a Dyson A/C, so helpful for us. Everyone we talked to, from the front desk, to the bartenders, to the wait staff in the restaurant, were friendly and easy to talk to. Our second stay at Hotel du Vin, and we'll definitely be coming back for more stays.

Excellent service from the staff, one slightly less friendly waitress at breakfast but it didn’t let down how great it was on the whole. The front desk folks were VERY helpful and accommodating. We were spontaneously upgraded rooms, and it was a spectacular room indeed. Very comfy bed and great air conditioning. We would definitely return, one of the best in Newcastle for a city break!

We had a lovely couple of nights in the hotel The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean and comfortable Although it is situated about 25 mins walk from the centre we found 2 great pubs nearby.

Great time at the Hotel which is just outside the city centre - about a fifteen minute walk by the river and quayside. The hotel is also well situated for visits to the biscuit factory and ouseburn. Hotel was clean and friendly - very nice bistro - staff very professional and helpful.

Great place as stayed in on of the suite looking over the water, check was quick despite a couple of issues but resolved quick. Parking charged at £15.00 for onsite parking which I always think should be included. Suite was excellent, we had dinner and breakfast which was fresh and prompt

The room on floor 1 was very noisy.due to traffic! It was as if our windows were open it was so loud. Other than that the room was excellent. Some wait staff were rather “snooty”. Breakfast was grossly over priced @ £24! Parking is very limited, we had to park in a metered area for 1.5 days

Amazing room, we had one of the junior suites for our stay. One disappointing aspect was we’d decided to have the taster menu only to be told this needed to be pre-ordered but we couldn’t find any information on the menu to support this. Other than that fabulous food and wine during our evening meal in the bistro and breakfast was excellent too.

Great hotel and brilliant staff. Stayed with our dog so that was convenient. He was not allowed in bistro so we had to eat in the bar that only hd aofas and low tables so not the easiest. Would have been helpful to have some high stools or tables.
