Studio 6 Amarillo, TX – West Medical Center

Pool heater was broken, was broken for months they did not tell me this when i called before our trip. I swim a lot and that ruined my trip as i do not like ice cold water. The room was comfy but smelled like smoke even though it was a non-smoking room. Holes and damage to the doors and floor, breakfast was just blah.

This is a tired property in bad need of a refresh. We stayed on the way from Dallas to Colorado about 10 days ago and again on the way back home yesterday. On BOTH stays the A/C in the lobby was broken and the lobby was quite warm. The staff are like zombies ... just going through the motions. My greeting, upon check-in was just a simple, "ID please." Nothing more ...

Room was filthy. Pool was closed. No breakfast. TV didn’t work.

The tv’s were not set properly to the one remote for 2 tv’s. Had to reprogram myself. It is clear no one has checked this in awhile as the remote was missing the battery plate altogether. The pool was locked shut with a padlock and no water in hot tub when ad clearly indicates site has both. Breakfast was put on paper plate by attendant who never even asked what I wanted. It was like being in cafeteria in school or jail and gave strong impression food was limited and controlled.

Property is very dated. None of the ice machines were working so had to buy a bag of ice off property. Bathroom door had a hole in like as if someone had kicked the door. Overall feel was sketchy. Staff was extremely nice and pleasant.

The pool was cloudy, hot tub was broken. Walls in room and hotel were gouged and paint was fading. Half the lights in our room did not work. Once we turned off the TV, we were never able to get it to work again. Air conditioning was LOUD. This hotel was terrible. The only good thing was breakfast. It was fresh cooked and very good. Do the corporate people ever inspect their properties? Also only one elevator was working. At checkout, a new employee was left by herself and waiting on the manager who NEVER showed up. She was totally not trained. We will NEVER come back to this hotel. The next night we stayed at Motel 6 in Dallas TX. It was a 5 star hotel compared to this garbage dump in Amarillo. Get it together Motel 6, or we will not stay at your "hotels" again. We do a lot of travelling. You have lost a customer. Do NOT stay here!!!

This hotel seems to be in the process of refurbishment. The staff were all excellent, and it was very clean, but in need of a lot of cosmetic work… paint and upholstery, and especially SIGNAGE! I had made a reservation or I wouldn’t have stopped. The sign was in front of other buildings and there is NOTHING on the outside of this building to identify it as Motel 6, no stickers on the doors, no markings on parking spaces, nothing. For an older woman, traveling alone and arriving late, getting out of the car and walking into an unmarked building was alarming. Once registered, my room was in the extreme southwest corner of the 2nd floor, so I parked on the west side and lugged my heavy bag in the west door, only to find that the west elevator was not operable and so, to avoid stairs, had to drag my bag all the way to one end of the building, around the end and back to the middle to access the east elevator. Once on the 2nd floor, there was ZERO signage to direct me to my room. Outside my room was a junction of 2 hallways with a slight (+/- 1/2 inch) step-off, also unmarked, that I did trip on once. The room/suite was nice, very clean, but the air conditioner did not work and I didn’t realize it until after I was changed and settled in. The motor ran but the fan barely moved any air and the air that came out was not cold. There was a ceiling fan but I could not find a way to turn it on. It was so hot and stuffy, I barely got 4 hours sleep.

You get what you pay for. I was very uncomfortable. The hotel was dirty. Room felt gross. The carpet was questionable. The AC did not work well. The restroom and shower was scary. The latch to the door was missing a screw. It was scary to the point where I put a chair in front of the door.

Property and our room was clean. We had a room I. The back of the property, very quiet at night. Great water pressure and hot water.

The hotel was nice. It didn’t have a kitchen like they advertised the only difference between the regular hotel room and the kitchen room is the kitchen room has a bigger refrigerator. They give you stuff to cook on like an electric eye and pots and pans you have to put down $150 deposit to get it. The room we had had bedbugs. They refused to give me a refund because they couldn’t find any, but my son’s back was ate up from sitting in the chair.

This is a good motel for the price. The staff are very kind and helpful. You really can’t beat the price. If you are sensitive to nicotine smoke, this might not be the right motel for you. The rooms have that wet nicotine smell covered up by perfumes. The smell was decently strong in multiple rooms. I’m allergic so it was a rough night for me. They just need to treat the rooms and that is costly and drives up price. Unfortunately, people smoke in the rooms and that’s beyond their control. I’m a fan of this place outside of the smell. Especially the kind and helpful staff.

Left to sleep in my car it’s that bad. Place is so bad I could even stay to get a few hours sleep while passing through. Checked in and first off this is a super run down motel 6. Got a room went up and the room was filthy. Bed was I made hotels and food containers every where. Went to front desk and was promptly given another room this one had not been serviced. There’s a heat that is radiating through this building. Went into the room and it was over 90 degrees. Weird set up with the room in the way back. AC is on full blast and the heat is just horrible. Room is so dirty I’m looking at the bed for bugs I don’t even want to unpack anything or set my luggage in anything. Figured I’d thought it out since I’ve been in the road all day and get a shower and sleep a couple hours then continue on my way. Started the shower and pulled a towel down and there was feces / poop / crap on the towel. Clearly unwashed just folded back up and thrown on the shelf. This is when I decided to leave. Security, people drinking outside, women coming and going at all hours. Cleanliness is so questionable I would eat the free breakfast even if I stayed. Spend more money if you have to, to not stay here. You have been warned. At the end I was refunded the stay and a heavy $150 deposit. But there also was feces on the towel clearly unwashed. So gross. I book through Expedia expecting them to screen out hell holes like this so Expedia has let me down here too. Very disappointed.

This appears to be an upscale property that was purchased by Studio 6. Much larger suite that usual.

The volume on the tv was so low I couldn’t hear it from the bed. Then it just quit working no network connection

Easy check in and check out. Beautiful interior. Rooms (stayed in two different rooms a few night apart) were roomy and clean. Will definitely be returning.

Hotel is worn down. Toilet kept running all night. Leaky faucet, shower rod about to come loose. No air circulation, felt very muggy even with fan on. Carpet strands sticking out. Ceiling fan did not work. Room has a lot of light switches, but most of them didn’t work. I do not recommend the breakfast bar. Room was clean and friendly service.

The AC could not get the room under 72 just were the bed was.

My room was clean and comfortable. A little dark. The interior corridors were dark. I met an elderly lady who couldn’t see very well and she couldn’t see her dog. You need to improve the interior lightings. Location is great. Just off the interstate and close to dining and shopping options. Exterior needs cleaning with all the birds’ droppings.

Rooms were massive, and it was quiet at night to get a great nights sleep. 3 different women at front desk were very friendly and nice when i asked questions about my hot free breakfast and where to park.

The sink top (counter) was still dirty from the previous person. The water continued to run in the toilet unless it was flushed a second time and the handle was jiggled. I was in a suite which had a small kitchenette. There were pots and pans available to use, but no oven or stovetop.

They are a wonderful staff. When I called to say TV wasn’t working, they came and got it to work while we went out to eat. We enjoyed our stay there.

The young ladies at the desk were having a personal conversation when I approached. They didn’t acknowledge me so I waved my ID and she said “you have to wait she using the computer”. While waiting the girl with the colored contacts is playing music on her phone with profanities. Very unprofessional. My room card had to be reset every night. She never asked to verify who I was. Terrible security. And then the last night my AC made loud noises starting about 4:30. Didn’t even bother to address it. Was happy to be leaving.

The TV in my initial room had no volume. I called the front desk and the clerk was very friendly, helpful, and I was immediately moved to a different room a few doors down. Very relaxing evening and good sleep.

Our stay started off nice with the evening staff on 06/09. Property is a little dated, but was clean and the bed was comfortable. Our low review unfortunately is mostly based on the morning staff of 06/10. At approximately 4:50am, a gentleman was able to access our room with a key card provided to him at his check in. He immediately shut the door and you could tell he felt terrible about accidentally intruding. We were getting an early start, so my husband and son were already outside loading the car and I was in our room with my daughter getting ready. As I walked passed the front desk, I brought up the situation to the front desk person. She was not polite about it at all. Instead, only said she didn’t know we were already checked in. My son went back inside to access our room to find our room key no longer worked. The front desk person only said she thought we left. She gave him a new card. My daughter and I went back to the room, where a few minutes later the cleaning staff came into the room with their key. We told them that we were not yet ready to leave and it would be a while longer. I remind you, at this point it is barely 5am and check out is for 11am. The cleaning staff stayed outside of our door waiting for us to leave. I go to the front to let the desk worker know we are not checking out just yet and still had stuff in the room. My husband goes up to get the final items to find the staff still waiting outside of the door. Unprofessional overnight staff.

This hotel has come a long way since 2017! Cute remodel, caring staff (every body from management to housekeeping & maintenance has been absolutely great) The hotel is clean, beds bathrooms and in room kitchenette. Pool and lobby area are also clean, would feel safe bringing my two young kiddos to stay here any day of the week. You truly cannot beat price and cleanliness. Because I promise, you’ll be sacrificing not only cleanliness- but safety staying elsewhere for the same price range. Just wanted to thank you all for being an absolute blessing when life really seemed to be short on kindness.

We arrived at around midnight. I made the reservation a few hours earlier. Upon arrival they informed me that I had to pay 2 $100 deposits. Because I reserved two rooms. I did not have two. I had one. I asked if they could just switch the reservation to one room. They would not assist. I called hotels.com and was told that because it was so late no management to help. So they got to keep my 100 for the rooms and have still not received a refund from anyone.

Your front desk girl was awesome...I loved her....I forgot her name but you need someone like her everywhere... She was helpful, and understanding because we looked for the hotel for 30 min. She said she would relay the message as far as us looking for the hotel and it's not in the internet search..KEEP HER... GIVE HER A RAISE HONESTLY. I feel even a promotion I don't know how long she has been there but she is that person that deserves more. Very professional.. You need more people like her.

When we checked in to tha room we had other activities to attend when we got back to the room our TV’s or phone did not work they switched our room and then realized our microwave didn’t work after all of that we were informed that we could not eat breakfast cause it was only for a hockey team not happy at all

Watch for Pizza sign as gps cannot figure address. Room accommodated for extended stay. Large bathroom with deep tub. Hotel was very quiet. So made for good sleep in time. Close to Resturants. Well lite carpark

The best deal for the price hands down. Everything was clean, everyone was friendly, and there’s so much to do within 5 minutes.

Very disappointed.staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. Ice machines nor working ,closed pool and breakfast was very limited, no fruit!!!! Unhappy with what eas expected, and not delivered!!!

The front desk staff were very helpful. However, I did not enjoy my stay. The property is old and doesn’t look maintained. I know this is only a 2-star property. The breakfast is not a full breakfast. You get a small plate of food and if you want more, $5. Food was…okay…I would not stay again.

This is an older hotel with an enclosed courtyard with pool, hot tub, dining area. It could use an expensive update, but they make up for that with low cost and cleanliness. I have stayed twice and consider it a wonderful place to stay when in Amarillo and will stop there again next time. They have a very nice hot breakfast included. Enjoy!

Just an overnight stay during a longer road-trip. For 56$ a great value for a place to crash for the night. Free hot breakfast which was nice.

This was our second stay within 5 days at this hotel. We were really disappointed that each time the pool was closed. It's really an upscale hotel 6. Breakfast is lackluster and was the same both days. Toast and scrambled eggs.
