The parking in the rear of the building was nice and secluded, but the access would have been better if it was by the main entrance. Breakfast was not served at this hotel/inn and would have been a very nice selection to have, even if it was just pre-wrapped items alongside the coffee and hot tea that was prepared for the morning. (A lot of people take medication in the morning and need some type of food to take with their prescriptions.) Staff was very helpful, considerate and courteous. Building itself was a lovely set up. Restaurant options were succulent and everything served was absolutely delicious (although a little pricey), and I certainly do not mind paying for a QUALITY meal.

Very nice Hotel. In house restaurant is very nice and very good. We stayed in a suite that had a living room area that is separated from the bedroom. The bathroom has a large bath tub with a very large walk in shower with a separate room where the toilet and sink is at. Living room and bedroom have their own Tv. Bed was comfy with large body like pillows.

Beautiful hotel tastefully merging history and present times in decor. Staff at front desk were so hospitable and kind. The history of the home is fascinating. The rooms are perfectly fresh, simple and clean, with historic accents. Bathtub and shower were clean and adequate with a strong shower head; housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. We found the bed made our backs sore but that’s due to our older bones … the mattress was quite firm and linens crisp with a down comforter. Maybe get an extra blanket if you like a little weight to your covers. Noise level ok - could hear talking in the hallway early morning but not terribly loud. There is coffee in the hallway in the mornings for a couple hours. We were recommended to try 555 Restaurant for dinner - our meals were fantastic. I tried the yoga room and appreciated the private space (but noted the staff room is right next door so there are frequent flushing and water pipe noises). We were very pleased with everything about the stay.

Excellent value for the money. Parking was convenient. room was clean. Could use higher quality sheets. Could use a coffee maker and tea pot in the room. Layout of bathroom (Room 202) was poor. Door opened almost all the way to sink counter making it difficult to get into the room. A slider may be a good alternative. Gym could use an upgrade. Lacks a spin bike and elliptical. Would probably replace the rower with one or both.

Great hotel and our room is wonderful. Only issue is that that hotel did not say that their restaurant and bar are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Very disappointed in that as I was looking forward to treating my wife to a wonderful meal and evening. Headed to Byrne's Irish Bar near train station and were blessed with live Irish music from 6 to 8 on Tuesday.

I have stayed at The Federal many times in the last few years. Most times, it has been outstanding. This time was an exception. Although the staff were great, as always, and the restaurant was interesting with a great selection of unusual meals, the bathroom facilities were so bad that I am not sure that I will return. The caulking in the bathtub had fallen out, leaving a dark, ugly, creepy look that made the bathtub look disgusting. After getting in the shower, I looked to the back of the tub and saw several strands of hair; then I noticed some on the front of the tub. I got out ASAP and decided to re-shower at home! If I do return, I will check out the bathroom prior to staying overenight!

We like to stay here when in Brunswick. This room had a bathroom air vent in the ceiling that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. It’s not hard to wipe it down or vacuum it.

Property is gorgeous inside, plenty of parking. Mattress was pretty uncomfortable with loud springs and shower tiles had some grime. New shower did not match the older vanity. But overall it’s a place to stay for the night

Pretty hotel and room was nicely decorated. Bed was very comfortable with nice linens.2 bottles of water and a fridge. The problem was the location of the room at the back of the building, so close to the highway. I'm guessing that the other side of the building - facing the front door- is probably more quiet. We had a terrible night's sleep, the sound of the highway was extremely loud.

Gorgeous property! Lobby is spacious with several seating areas and beautifully appointed. Staff at check in was warm and welcoming. Room was large and again luxuriously decorated. Quiet, and bed was very comfortable. Thermostat functions well for desired room temperature. Only note is that while I LOVE squishy pillows, all four were soft and didn’t support well. A more varied selection would be appreciated. But overall, a delightful stay, and would highly recommend!

This was just a quick one night stay. The pluses were that it was an update large room with good temperature control. I thought they lobby had a cool vibe - loved the decor. Although the bedroom was updated, the bathroom was not. We were on the backside of the hotel and you could hear freeway noise all night. Also, no coffee in the room but instead you go to the end of the hall. It’s the first thing I do in the morning so I slipped out there in my pajamas and of course ran into someone - just wish there was a maker in the room. No ice machine on the floor, so instead you go to the lobby and there is a freezer in a room with individually bagged ice, which was more than we needed so somewhat wasteful and the plastic bag was unnecessary.

We arrived at around 9 pm and in order to get to our suite we had to go up via a staircase (no elevator). We were not offered any help and in that situation and nor were we told about the staircase until we had schlepped half way there. The sheets smelled quite perfumed. Not our preference.

The room was beautiful. The front desk staff was lovely. The woman who was decorating out front seemed irritated when I asked if there was valet parking or help with bags. There wasn’t any help with bags and our room was upstairs with no elevator access. That seems like a solvable problem for such a great hotel.

Gary, the front clerk is an excellent example of how a front desk clerk should interact with guests. I had a few questions and he could not have been more helpful. Give him a raise! The hotel is beautiful, but the room itself was a hodge podge of furniture. Beautiful modern bed, but the night tables belonged in a 19th century home. It was a mix of really nice stuff and other furniture that just didn’t fit in and looked cheap, some from IKEA.

Modern hotel on the inside and our room was clean and fresh, within walking distance of downtown restaurants and shops. I had read reviews about it being noisy with traffic on Hwy 1 but it was actually very quiet. Our room was on the front of the building on the second floor and we did hear anything. The AC was quiet also. Coffee and tea were available near the second floor stairs and elevator.

My husband and I arrived to The Federal with a warm greeting and beautiful accomendations. We met our relatives for dinner downstairs and everything that was served was excellent. The tomato watermelon gazpacho was to die for! All the staff were super friendly. The beds were comfortable and our room was very clean. I have nothing negative to say except the coffee pot was running low in the morning, but I am sure they took care of that soon after my husband walked away. . Don’t hesitate to book here.
