Cleanliness was definitely lacking, there were stains on the curtains, dead bugs (on headboard and dead fly on outside table). Rust was also an issue, the balcony and door to balcony was riddled with rust. Main elevator was down, we were able to use staff elevator, however it was tiny. Also, at one point I leaned on the handrail while I was chatting with someone and nearly fell off the fourth floor. One of the posts to the handrail was extremely loose, which we called the front desk and let them know (they put caution tape on for the 2 days, still there when we left). I felt icky staying here and will not return.

I was very happy with how clean our room was. This was probably the most important thing for me. The A/C was cold although i did have to run it full blast all week to keep up, but it never got hot in my room. All the drains actually drained which hasn’t been the case at other places i have stayed. The hotel staff seemed friendly when i spoke to them but we didn’t really need anything from them while we were there. The hotel definitely shows some age from years of being on the beach but it seemed everything worked well that needed to. We didn’t eat at the hotel diner but the live music was tempting and seemed like a good time. This wasn’t a new flashy hotel but served the purpose well for our stay. The beachfront access was super convenient and helpful. Overall I would choose it again if i needed somewhere stay while at OBX
