The Sea Ranch Resort

The number of available electrical sockets in the room in this hi-tech age are GROSSLY inadequate. A few that are available are so worn out that my cell phone charger plug falls out. There are no elevators. The front door into the lobby is not powered automatically. The two door banks into the lobby that naturally open outwardly for fire regs are so close together that there is inadequate space to safely enter thru the first manual double doors with luggage and bags and open the second (inner) manaul double doors.

The location couldn't have been better. Oceanfront. The restaurant was closed because of some type of mechanical issue, so that was a little disappointing.

Parking was adequate. For a hotel that supposedly updated in 2025 it was not apparent at all. We have stayed at the Sea Ranch Resort several times over past years. This stay was very disappointing. Carpet was old, dingy, and even dirty. The cushioned chair was also old, badly stained, and dingy. Bathtub badly stained, appearing as if it had not been cleaned though I'm sure it probably was. Direct TV was a joke. No additional apps such as Netflix, etc. Also, ice machine not working and elevator often not responding at all or delayed for 5-10 minutes. The elevator problem was not new as it was the same in several previous stays. We ended up using service elevator as we were on the 3rd floor, which was a nice oceanfront view but at 79 & 80 years of age climbing 3 flights of stairs empty handed or with luggage, was out of the question.We will most likely not stay there again. Wish I had taken photos but sadly did not think to do so.

Nice clean room with great view!! Easy beach access. Nice restaurant and free coffee!! One elevator not working! One ice machine out of service. Pool area was a bit green and filters were grossly green!!

The swimming pool was shutdown until my last day. Since it was too cold in the ocean, this was a big problem. Very limited places to eat breakfast.

The hotel overall was clean . My room did have a musty smell & had trouble with tv remote. Front desk staff were friendly & helpful. The restaurant served good food & wait staff were nice too. The location was near but off the main highway. So it’s close to activities, shopping & restaurants. Hotel is connected to a pathway to the beach.

Great location. Shopping and miniature golf are walking distance. Spacious condo with clean rooms and an amazing view. Full size kitchen, dishwasher, washer, dryer, even an ironing board. I was really impressed with the room. The elevator was super slow and was not always working. Air conditioning unit was very loud. Despite the negative, I would stay again.

I loved this place. From checking in which were fast and the people there were so nice. The pool were great. I went to the bistro for music but the band didn’t show but the restaurant outside area were beautiful and right on the beach. Our room were perfect. Clean with plenty of supplies. The balcony were spacious. Situated in the middle of plenty of restaurants. Great location. Plenty of parking out front and well lit at night. They need a game room or something for the kids because it was a lot of families there for at least a week. Otherwise a great place

Beachfront room was excellent. Restaurant server Trish at Bistro was awesome. We were told the pool would be closed some of our stay but we saw people in it everyday, so not sure what was up with that. Younger guy at front desk (Anthony) was friendly; other people were not necessarily rude, but not as open/nice.

Room and appliances could have been cleaned a little better. Our balcony was right near the back steps to the porch - there constantly were people passing by and hosing off their feet/items right by us which made it a little uncomfortable. The natural gas exhaust was also right by our balcony which limited us from sitting and enjoy time on the balcony. The pool had standing water around the sides with green slime forming, some kind of drainage needs to be put in to eliminate the standing water.

As soon as you walk in the door, it smells of mold. The ramp to get up to the desk is damaged and halfway repaired hard to get your luggage over the Knicks and crannies. I’ve thrown better furniture in the garbage than they had in the room. Couch was disgusting. I would not even sit on it. The people were very nice though. I was in. room 113 which is right by the back door on the first floor people slammed that door all night long coming in and out. You will not get any sleep if you’re in that room. I tried to upload the pictures of the ragged furniture and mold all around the tub and the stains and holes in the ceiling but it says my photos exceed size limit but trust me it’s not very nice.

The room was very clean. The gentleman, Thomas R., who checked us in was so very nice. The view was amazing. The breakfast we had the following morning at the Beachside Bistro was the best we’ve had in a long time. Our waiter was superb. Loved the decor! Our daughter,son-in-law and grandson loved the heated pool. We will definitely stay here again!

Cobwebs in most of the corner's in the room with spiders. Urine/fecal(??) stains down the front of the toilet at base. One ice machine for the entire property. Five O'clock check in and eleven O'clock checkout so you lose 6 hours of your stay. Upon check out we were locked out of our room by the electronic keypad locks. We went to the office three times to get a key for our room so we could finish loading our vehicle to leave and each time the new card key wouldn't work. We finally had to get nasty with the front desk to get a maintenance guy to come up and let us in. He said they were having trouble with the electronic system. I told the front desk lady that we wouldn't be able to leave by eleven since we were locked out of our room for almost an hour and she said they'd give us to eleven thirty. Not the almost hour we were locked out. I have stayed there for many years, and it's gotten a lot worse as time has gone on. Don't get me wrong, we had a decent stay for the most part but there are several areas that could stand a lot of improvement. BTW- no room service. We had to scrape and scrounge every couple of days to get wash cloths. We pretty much just went in and got them ourselves from the supply room that was left open night and day for anyone to come in and take their supplies. We asked a lady one day about getting stuff for our room as she was pushing her maid cart and she told us that she just cleans rooms at the end of people's stays and not during their stay.??????

This property has easy access to check in& room. Room was very clean& the view from the balcony of the ocean was gorgeous!! Beds were comfortable with plenty of clean towels. Will return!

If you’ve ever dreamed of camping indoors at luxury prices, this is the place for you. For $500 a night, we got falling ceiling tiles, soggy carpets, and a “partial ocean view” that was mostly blocked by grime on the window. The carpet looks like it’s been through a dog kennel, and housekeeping? Don’t count on it—no daily cleaning here. The first night we checked in, we didn’t even have a lock on our door. Nothing says “welcome” like realizing anyone could wander in. To be fair, they did install one… about an hour later. Outside the room, millions of bugs throw nightly parties around the vent, just in case you miss the feeling of camping. The bistro serves tuna with the exact texture of a leather belt, so if chewy mystery fish is your thing, you’re in luck. The one bright spot? The bar staff was friendly. But when the bartender is the highlight of your $500/night stay, you know it’s not worth it.

This hotel room was very dirty and smelly. They tried to mask the funky smells with air freshener, but it didn’t work.

Room 108 is horribly in need of updates, maintenance & a deep cleaning. We have stayed at the Sea Ranch Resort several times over the last 15 years, and loved it. Not this time! The room reeked of mold, particularly when the AC turned on. Made our eyes and throats itch, which subsided while out on the beach, but resumed after returning to the room. Realized AC issues are the likely culprit. The fan would run, but compressor only ran sometimes. Unit turns off & back on seconds later. Everything in the room, including bed linens & furniture felt wet. Socks were WET after walking on carpet! Never experienced this in other rooms at this resort, not even oceanfront rooms. Staff said TV was equipped with 2014 DirecTV box, stuck on 1 channel for 2 days. After the last maintenance visit, the tv wouldn't work at all. We just gave up! The bathroom door got stuck when closed, needing someone on the outside to help get it open. (Super easy to fix) The condition of the bathroom was the grossest part of the stay. The caulk around the bath tub was riddled with mold/mildew, and the once tan grout (visible in low traffic areas) is now black where people walk. And yes,it did come off. Tile needs steam cleaning. Sheets & towels were clean, and bed comfortable but our stay was very disappointing, nothing like our other visits to this facility. Realizing multiple repairs (including AC) were needed, we tried to move to another hotel, but no vacancies found at facilities that might be cleaner

Love everything about it until the storm came during the night. The wind whistled through the patio door for a couple hours and woke us up.

Great views and very quiet. Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Furniture in living room wasn’t very comfortable.

Everything was great and my husband and I enjoyed! The only reason I gave 4/5 stars was because at the end of the night when I went to lock our balcony door, we realized it did not lock. I called the front desk and spoke with Thomas who gave further instructions on how to position the handle and turn the deadbolt to make it lock but that did not work and he stated there was nowhere else to move us. Had we not been on the second floor where i could’ve easily hopped over the rail without hurting myself i would’ve felt better but because we was so close to the ground I slept uneasy. Thomas assured me we were in the Outer Banks and would be okay but unfortunately that didn’t soothe my feelings.

Room is on the ocean. Listening to the ocean is why I come down here.

Location 10/10 - 3rd floor King suite amazing beach views, hotel is very run down, carpets were wet and smelled of bleach when we arrived. In need of an update. Mattress REALLY uncomfortable, sofa even less so. Pillows all poor. Location and views make it worth it but goodness.

I stay at this hotel when I Birdwatch in the winter in the Outer Banks. When I book with Expedia, I get a $20 coupon that I use for their excellent breakfast. Their Wi-Fi is very fast. They have Turner classic movies. The place is always clean and the staff is very accommodating and kind.

Right on the beach! The condos have a long balcony overlooking the ocean. Wake up to the sunrise! Couldn’t ask for a better spot and location in the Outer Banks.

I didn’t like that we had to prop our door open in the cold because it whistled around the door

The staff was exceptional! We were allowed to check in early (mid December mid week helped!) The condo was right on the beach and views were spectator. Can't wait to come back in the spring!

Beautiful direct, oceanfront view from second floor condo. Room was clean. Staff was very nice, cheery and helpful. Wonderful stay. The only downfall was we needed more living room seating and the couch was really uncomfortable to sit on, and when pulled out to a bed.

Our check in clerk was horrible. Blabbed about rules tips and options like we were bothering him. Made us wonder if we made a mistake booking. Otherwise loved our place location and especially the views.

People at the front desk were very nice and helpful

Multiple times we went to the front desk and no one could be found that worked there, including during check out.

Upon arrival, Thomas was on task and knowledgeable. Check in was easy. He told me about the specials in the bistro attached to the hotel. I didn't know they had a restaurant. My breakfast was in the bistro. Thomas B was my waiter and did an outstanding job getting me served quickly. The food was great. I highly recommend the Sea Ranch Resort to anyone visiting the Outer Banks!

James at the bar was awesome, Thomas at the front desk was a legend. Loved my stay here and would come back again for sure!

Our stay was very nice. Early May. Not crazy packed. Empty beach. Good location to good, shopping, & sites. The resort does appear dated (carpeting, 80’s cabinetry, worn couch, & 80’s dining set) but it appears they are working hard to update it a little at a time. Their banquet room was bring renovated during our stay. That being said the entire place was very clean. Well maintained facilities with plenty of friendly staff. The restaurant had delicious breakfast dishes & attentive servers. Our 2 bedroom unit had comfy beds and basic essentials. We would stay again.

One of the worst staff ever, Rude people, and not professionalism at all. Stay away from there.

The room was great. The front desk staff was not all that friendly or helpful, but the rest of the staff was great and were always asking if they could do anything for us.

This was our first time visiting OBX, we really enjoyed ourselves. We loved the feel of it not being a tourist town. We stayed oceanfront so the views were amazing and we loved the ease of walking right out to the ocean. Our condo was very clean, staff was super friendly and the Bistro was delicious, we ordered dinner 2 nights in a row and they didn’t disappoint at all. If I had anything negative to say it would be the bed was super firm, as in SUPER FIRM, however I also understand some people like a firm bed, for my Husband and I it was way to hard for our liking, besides that everything else was great!

Sea Ranch was the perfect destination for our outer Banks Beach vacation! We were right on the beach and the private balcony provided excellent views of ocean. We even saw them set up for a beautiful beach wedding! The beds were comfortable and the facilities were clean. Staff were very helpful throughout our stay. Thank you for a great stay!

My husband and I started at the Sea Ranch Resort for Spring Break. It was the perfect place for us! With a restaurant and bar right on the premises, you don't have to really go anywhere! The food is delicious too! It's walking distance to a few other restaurants and closer to the grocery store! The walk to the beach is a quick one which is an extra bonus!

I loved the bistro and we had dinner there two nights. Delicious food and good music onp Wednesday night.

The condo with ocean view was the perfect size for our family of four. It gave everyone a bit of space to call their own. The in unit laundry was a huge bonus! Breakfast at the Bistro was delicious and the portions were very generous! The staff are all very helpful and friendly. It is also a perfect location as it is close to so many shops, restaurants, and attractions.

Oceanfront Bistro was very good!

We had a great time wish we could have stayed longer. We had breakfast at the hotel and our server was fantastic she recommended some wonderful bananas bread French toast and that’s the bomb. She also recommended some place to visit and she was so good. Thumbs up to her
