The Clarendon Hotel & Spa, BW Signature Collection

There had been a very strong monsoon storms that moved through the area before I arrived at the hotel. When I was checking in I was informed that the elevator did not work due to water damage and would not be fixed during my stay. The nice man at the front desk told me someone would be available to manage luggage up to my room on the second floor. I was given a room but found a big puddle of water under the split unit(air conditioning) and when the unit turned on water was spaying out of it. I informed the front desk and they said they would arrange for new room with a free upgrade. When I returned later that evening with my friend we found out we were on third floor and were assisted with our luggage. The room were clean and appeared newly updated. The hotel is not elder friendly as the beds were only 1 1/2 feet off the floor as well as sitting area couches. When we checked out we were rudely informed there was no one to help us with the luggage and desk person said I can’t do it. I asked for manager but none were present. Overall not a very good expense and I would not chose to book here again.

Nothing was open (restaurant, carpool) , the pool got drained while we were there. Very little light in the room with the couch. Everything is so old. Staff when checked in was nice but unfriendly other than that. A/C didn't Cool the room well. Not a good experience

I appreciated the security guard walking around in the parking area - increased safety. Pool area was too cute w/ cabanas, lounge chairs, etc... & they have a 50 person hot tub! Decor is fun and simple... love the suite w/ a bedroom separate from sitting area. :)

Staff was courteous, room needed some maintenance. TP holder falling off, door lock plate fell off, duvet was dirty, hair in the shower. Bar, restaurant and roof top under maintenance. For the price It was worth it, quiet, and the bed was extremely comfortable and A.C top notch. We were there for husband's cancer surgery the following day, close proximity to hospital. Make sure you lock your vehicle. Seen someone trying to get into cars in the lot at 5 a.m.

Restaurant and bar “closed for summer” without notifying at time of booking. Super inconvenient. This place just keeps getting worse.

Hotel is nice, staff is nice. The poolside bar and food is closed during the summer. That was mostly what i was looking forward to.

The weather was terrible and there were leaks all over the hotel. The king bed in my deluxe room was busted, The "renovated" rooms were extremely outdate and there was damage on all the furniture. The shower hot water was luke warm and the ventilation system did not function properly. The room was also NOT soundproof as stated in the description. There were no available amenties - no restaurant, no lunge, no swimming...

Gym and hot tub are awesome

Unfortunately the spa & restaurant was under renovations when I stayed at the hotel. Staff was great but was disappointed I was not informed of the closures when I booked.

I liked the pool and hot tub. Super long hot tub complete with rafts and pool stuff with enough room for everyone to have privacy. The cabanas at the pool are free complete with

Floor of room was filthy, AC unit was extremely Loud, small room fridge was dirty and had someone else’s old open soda cans in it and had spilled.

Everything was nice although the bathroom looked a bit unsanitary and the couch had hair in it…

The staff was amazing. However the property looks nothing like the photos. The rooms are run down and we were on level1 and had roaches in our room! We booked for two nights but did not stay.

Not very clean. Run down. Homeless people in parking lot. Bar, restaurant, spa shut down but they are advertising as open on website. They tell you of closures at check in. They also charge $40 in EXTRA fees at checkin that they said aren't included when you reserve from a 3rd party. NOT a $200/night property at all!

My room was not very clean and there were gross stains everywhere. My shower was almost completely non-functional and was the worst shower I’ve ever had. My entire stay felt dirty and grimey and I would not pay for it again.

Usually the Clarendon is amazing. This time was a little different. Room 325 needs the bathtub scrubbed out or replaced. The bottom of the tub has black residue embedded in the tub. Also the blinds do not shut. At all. Which was a little annoying for privacy reasons, but more so when trying to sleep in while the sun shines right through.

Strong smell of cleaning agent, when lights are off and AC switches on, the lights flash on even in off position all night long. Seems like someone is coming in your room and turning on the lights. There was hair all over in the bathroom and bed. Office chair has broken spring inside that sticks you in the leg when you sit in it. Had two more nights to stay, went to cancel at 9am but was only able to get one night refunded cause it was too late in the day to cancel for that night. Picture on line must be from 10 yrs ago looks nothing like that now. They said there was a continental breakfast, 2x4 table with 5 mini muffins in a plastic tray and a single cup mini coffee machine is what you get. The restaurant and bar they say is there, it’s closed and empty. Looking at the reviews it looks to have been closed around a year ago but it’s still in the web page as open. Unless you like paying for disappointment I wouldn’t stay here

The rooms were disgusting, bed was filthy, furniture old, the shower curtain was dirty and sour smelling, HAD COCKROACHES. Behind the bed and in corners dirty with crumbs and dirt. Rooms smelled like smoke and weed. Had to wash all contents of my suitcase even got home. A terrible stay.

The hotel was not up to the standards of the pictures. The bed smelled like bleach and was extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom smelled like mildew. The room was 60 degrees and never warmed up past 62 despite turning the heat to 70.

The overall experience was ok, but the rooms are very outdated, the atmosphere was wonderful, the food great the rooms need to be seriously upgraded

The Beds were so low, for an adult only hotel, seniors had a rough time getting out of them.

This is a older kind of retro hotel beds are low to the ground . I would stay again but just remember it a little older hotel

Check in was easy, the staff is courteous, beds and bedding are nice, room is reasonably clean. Some of the items in the room are defective. The window blinds don't close completely, the TV doesn't work well (sound glitches on and off), the faucet in the bathroom sink sprays outside the sink. We're only staying one night, so we can live with it, but it's somewhat inconvenient and these items should be repaired.

My boyfriend and I book this for a staycation. It was less than I expected in terms of room. However it was only for one night. The pool was busy as expected however drunken people being inappropriate and unwanted advances to me and my boyfriend made us feel unsafe. Not sure why this person was not escorted out the pool as he could barely open his eyes and the server still brought him shots of tequila. We left the pool after that. The property was so loud from the music at the pool it was far from relaxing. The next morning wanting to sleep in the property turned the music on again full blast at 830am. I would never recommend this place or stay again. I will be calling the manager for a formal complaint. Stay anywhere else.

Staff was friendly, price was great, room was huge, clean, very nice. Bed great, awesome Nestle coffee machine which I have only seen on cruise ships or in Europe. Pool was fun to spend time. The property is run down on the outside. I don’t think many people were staying there because the parking lot was empty except for a few cars. Mayb

This is not a four star hotel. It may have been at one point decades ago. But it’s incredibly run down, very sparse (and freezing) rooms. The staff is very nice and it was very clean, but I won’t be staying here again. And they claim the rooms are soundproofed but you’ll hear your neighbors chatting. The fridge and ac/heater are very loud.

The bed was comfortable, but bed frame was right in the floor, very very low. Very difficult for someone tall to get in and out of.

The double queen suite’s beds were almost on the floor. Extremely difficult to get out of them for old and tall folks like us. Also the bed frame of one of the beds only had about 12 inches of space with the entry way of the bedroom so a major trip hazard. Everything else was fine.

It was okay. The room has seen better days. Some of the fixtures were undone. Screw coming loose. The lighting in our bathroom was terrible. The sink clogged but they fixed that right away. No one came to our room to clean up in the three days we were there. Staff is friendly. Pool was nice. Music outside the pool was good too. Restaurant was closed on our last day. I think it’s overpriced for what you’re getting. I would not spend more than $100 on this place per night, resort fees and taxes included.

It was an all around experience N the rooftop views were amazing

Love the free parking for a downtown hotel. Friendly staff, beautiful room and hotel. Comfortable beds. The he room was updated to a modern theme. Beautiful pool are, my granddaughter wished she brought her suit. We were here for Cheer Competition and it was a short drive to the convention center.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Clarendon. The staff was considerate and caring. They allowed me to alter my original, pre-paid booking when I had to leave a night early due to a family emergency. The rooms and property are slightly dated but incredibly clean. Great pool and hot tub area. I didn’t get to visit the restaurant, gym or spa during my stay but it was nice to have these amenities on site. The area around the hotel was quiet and I felt very safe traveling solo as a young woman. There’s also a grocery store and shopping center that’s roughly a 5 minute walk from the hotel. I would absolutely stay here again.

Used to love going here. Spent my first night in PHX with my future husband there, and was a milestone bday. We would visit regularly to swim and we know many staff members, one is our old roommate. We were recently denied service despite booking a room and pre paying for the room. The two women working night shift would not allow any other form of payment when my Canadian visa debit card was not working with the Clarendon's debit/credit ready (postal code vs zip code error). Tried to find a solution, when they flipped modes and said "we don't want people like you here, get out of our face" when I got my partner on the phone at work to provide his B of A credit number. They were miserable and awful people. It's sad We will NEVER return with, as the "ladies" at the front desk said, "people like this" working at Clarendon. Despicable and utter harassment. Most important, discrimination. How do you suppose I paid for my room prior to entering the hotel if I'm "unhoused"? So you don't want money, if it's from "certain kinds of people"?... I have a career, a house and much more. The assumption that I am anything else is insulting (stop making assumptions about total strangers), I am alternative and will not dress like a cute little woman just to get better service. Disgusting and devastated at this lack of humanity from a place in our hood that MEANT so much to us, especially me as a disabled person that needs to swim frequently to maintain mobility.

I stayed for one night but I felt very unsafe there. Walking from a lighted parking lot to a very dark walkway to the lobby, I didn't like. The room was fine. The staff were so understanding it was just all the homeless people in the street.

Room was very clean, comfortable beds, with mini refrigerator/freezer. Front desk staff was very pleasant in morning and evenings. Overall quiet location right in downtown Phoenix. Difficult to find and access lobby for check in. Only one entrance and exit. Ice machine located on 1st floor by pool, nothing on each floor.

The whole place felt sketchy, and a little unsafe. This felt like an urban motel, not the higher end hotel portrayed online, a few blocks off the beaten path in a rundown light industrial area on the north side of downtown. Cinder block walls and industrial carpet abound. Half the rooms have exterior entrances. Entire place reeks of pot. Hard to find the small poorly lit entrance. No dropoff area. Overfull poorly lit parking lot was dirty and pavement was in poor condition. Room had a mini fridge but no microwave nor coffeemaker, no water bottles, not even any glasses or cups for tap water. The bed was comfortable if a bit over soft. Bathroom was small, minimalist, but clean and functional. Closet doors missing and replaced with oversized black sheet or curtain that trailed across the floor. No clock in room. Big modern TV though (didn't use). Pool area seemed nice from a distance but I didn't get to use or explore it. Good online checking and you can use phone as key. But checking out through app apparently didn't work as I got texts and emails asking me to checkout hours after I'd done so.

This hotel is in a great location for work. Close to downtown. The staff is polite. I checked in and out with the problem. The rooms have a small coffee maker and there is no microwave. But there's a restaurant inside. So if you're traveling it's a good spot.

At night the area can be quiet since its mainly business oriented area, so it’s a little dark and homeless come into area to night. Please don’t cancel me. I’m just being honest.

The area is far from downtown and industries. A little misrepresented on the website. Also at night the area has many homeless people amking it not inviting to walk around past dark.

I used this location as an amazing staycation great downtown area.

His older than expected not much of a brand and breakfast. Just some coffee muffins and fruit with milk and cereal.

The building is older and has some chipped paint and normal wear, and the rooms are quite bare. But overall the hotel was clean and well cared for, the amenities were great, and the area was beautiful. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent. All of the staff were kind, approachable, and helpful.

Nice property. Food at the restaurant was over priced and way too spicy.

Excellent service. Fuego restaurant has amazing steak and live pianist sets the vibes. Might come back for summer for a dive in the pool.

While it wasn't the cleanest place it definitely met my expectations with the small details such as the flower folded towels and folded t.p. Breakfast was a big bummer. If you say breakfast comes with you're stay then do a better breakfast please people. Wasnt the best but wasn't the worse.

The Clarendon Hotel was a pleasant place to stay. The staff was helpful and accommodating. The hotel has a GEM of a restaurant, The Azlin! We enjoyed a memorable dinner of flavorful food, then had a nice soak in the sizeable hot tub. The only problem we had was the toilet in our room had a wonky flusher. We resorted to removing the lid and flushing it by lifting the rubber flapper. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

First off the elevator did not work, the floor lamp did not have a way to turn off so I had to unscrew the light bulb , the blinds did not turn to open , continental breakfast was just cereal and milk coffee and muffins. The bed was very comfortable and parking is away from where you can’t see your vehicle. I would not stay there again.
