Had a lovely stay over Easter weekend. The entertainment was good and staff very friendly. Rooms were clean. Unfortunately, one lift was out of action so it took a while to and from our room.

Room was spacious, with a balcony, lovely sea view. Good place to stay for a night. There only appeared to be one lift working, which meant quite a wait especially has most people had luggage.

A good hotel by the harbour for a low price which was good. The staff were great and the room had amenities such as iron, hairdryer, coffee and soap etc.. Negatives were that the walls are so thin you can hear every door slam or conversation from other guests rooms. The reception staff did offer to allow me to change rooms for my second night to be fair. Also I didnt find the mattress very comfy so I didn't get the best sleep. The pool is an extra charge of £3 and is quite a small pool and the hotel offers a small gym. Parking is £5 a day and the car park is within the hotel. I didnt eat there so can't comment on the food but they offered a good choice of menu and happy hour on drinks.

Let’s start with - don’t believe the claim about parking. Their carpark under the hotel is shut, there is not enough on-site parking, what there is can only be described as first come first served chaos. The alternative across the road is a public carpark that shuts at 12:00am and opens at 6:00am with a phone number to call if you need to leave earlier. Oh and you have pay for it. No food on offer at 8:30pm on a Friday on a bank holiday weekend!!! Obviously the staff are not encouraged to deliver service, just turn up for work. The vending machines were cash only, marvellous idea in the past, but the who carries around £5 of shrapnel anymore. Felt like hotel that had lost its way. We were using the shuttle first thing in the morning and wanted simple, convenient, clean with food and parking. We didn’t get that and would not recommend this hotel to shuttle users. Sorry owners but you need to up your services, offer food to sensible times and recognise the electronic age with cash free vending- and either drop any pretence about car parking or control it properly, people going on holiday want to trust their car is safe and you miss that by a mile.

They have a gym room and swimming pool. They also got breakfast and dinner buffets and individual dishes to be ordered. They have a bar area serving sandwiches and cakes with tea and coffee in daytime after 11am. They are highly recommended for families with kids and elderly.

Lovely spot with great views. Room was fine for the one night. Breakfast was good enough and the price was pleasing. We travelled as a family of 6. We couldn’t get into the car park so used a nearby one which was more expensive but that was the only choice.

I've been working in the area, and this hotel has been great. quiet, well appointed room with good facilities with a good bar and relaxed restaurant. There was even a pool if I had brought my trunks!

A single room with a view of the harbour, that was unexpected but very nice. Room was spotless. Only fly in the ointment, people in the next room, kept their tv on all night so not much sleep. They turned it off when they went for breakfast. Overall, this was a enjoyable stay and would definitely return.

The moment I entered the lift I began to wonder if I had booked the right place. It looked tired! When I landed on the 3rd floor the corridors were not inviting, surely they had seen better days. The carpets, doors and everything was anything but contemporary. Some old fashioned can be nice but not this one! It was clear this hotel has lacked investment or any effort to modernise the place. I arrived in my room to realise the place he not been cleaned after the previous user. That heightened my disappointment. The place was simply not nice….. many guests were there with their dogs/ pets and with the poor cleaning regime I would not feel comfortable using rooms that have had pets. I would not revisit.

Beyond dated, cleaning standard very poor especially bathroom and toilet extremely dirty. We complained about the bathroom and toilet and they upgraded us to a so called premier room, which was better on size but the bathroom still dirty. Windows filthy with bird poo and generally need to sort out their cleaning contractor and could do with a major facelift. We knew it would be a dated hotel, but clean rooms and bathroom you should be able to expect from a hotel. We still had an enjoyable time apart from the hotel issues.

This property is disgusting, unclean, dated, smelly, damp, sticky, Food cold and disgusting, not much choice, buffet not topped up, grim presentation. £31 for 2 people! Horrendous experience and one that I definitely won’t be repeating! Rooms? Dirty, beds uncomfortable. bed bugs, bathroom awful. I’m surprised that any serious booking site would sell these rooms.

Two great things about this hotel: Great mattress. Great location. The less impressive: Walking through a wall of smoke day and night from all the people smoking at the entrance. Despite signs not to. This was horrible, especially when with children. On entrance to the hotel (and overcoming that carpet - woah!) you can smell the pool, that’s fine and exciting for the kids. Then you enter the lifts and we all commented on the off bad smell. The doors opened to our floor and again, cigarette smoke smell. Having to use key cards to access the corridor is a pain, but your hands being left with a greasy film from using the handle is worse. The room was ok, though the door aggressively slams and I feared for small kids fingers. The fire doors separating the hallways need buffering as these cause noise throughout the night. The warm tap was akin the heat of lava and spurted out water in fits and starts. Not ideal. Our bins weren’t emptied for 5 days which was quite something. More places to hand damp clothes from the beach would be useful, as would a fridge. A ‘market’ selling bulk from Temu was set up on the ground floor at the weekend. Half expected suspiciously sourced old games consoles and TVs to be traded in a back room somewhere too. What an experience. Won’t be staying again.

Hotel is a bit old but overall clean. The only thing I had a problem with, my kettle was full of loose lime and it was crusted with lime too and I couldn’t make myself a cup of tea, it was so much. I would suggest to clean it with vinegar once in a while.

The hotel is in need of a complete renovation. The hallways are gloomy and have a prison feel. The wood chip needs to go, carpets replacing and the furniture updating. We were in a family room and transitted through many fire doors to get to our room. The room was large and sufficient, but only had 1 towel bundle for a single person.the water pressure is also woeful! On a plus note it was cheap and the breakfast good. The staff were polite and parking only £5

Cold water for 24hrs. Reported but had to chase for it to be resolved. But they gave a free drink voucher to compensate. Hotel very busy, so you’d think they could afford to refurbish. Walls thin, doors bang, decor tired. Double bed just big enough for one adult! With two, one turn and your falling off!! Laughable.

Second visit to this magnificent hotel and cannot fault anything really. Fantastic staff and always welcoming. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. At the moment it appears to be having renovation work which causes no problems for guests. It is brilliant the hotel fact is central to a variety of things for tourists, for example, shops, restaurants, bars, pubs and all viewpoints for sightseers. Finally the accommodation offers entertainment and a place to eat & relax.

It's a large hotel, totally cashless from check-in to the bar, no cash accepted anywhere. Made a mistake with my room allocation but quickly resolved by Dave on reception who was doing the job of two people. Decor could be better and the rooms but for what I paid it was outstanding. £5 to park your vehicle overnight but overall very good. The view over the sea in the morning was very welcome.

Hotel full of dogs who constantly barking so you can forget the good night sleep. Water not going down from bath, window is so steamed up that can't even see outside. I would never book a hotel in Grand Burstin, needs serious improvement!

The room itself was absolutely fine. We arrived late around 10pm, the queue was huge to check in and staff were clearly very stressed and unwilling to help eachother. We booked a double room online and when we arrived were told it was a twin room we had booked. We also got a car parking charge sprung on us on arrival that wasn’t mentioned anywhere else previously. No cash accepted. The hallways stunk of cigarettes despite there being signs everywhere saying not to smoke. There was also a pile of nappies in the corner of the hallway. We managed to get into the room to begin with but after going to get something to eat we were unable to access our room. We were made to feel at fault for having the key next to the phone (it wasn’t!). Went back to reception to ask about the key and got given another key, then neither of them worked to get into the main access door so we couldn’t even get to our room. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is dated but comfortable,clean and great value for money. It is situated right in the hub of the harbour and close to the old town and shops. We've stayed here a couple of times and will definitely be coming,back. Theres great entertainment daily and a real feel of that holiday feeling .

As an ex-Folkestone lad I love the harbour and East Cliff views. An annual nostalgia trip has been a shock regarding what's changed. But I still choose the Burstin Hotel for its location and ease of car parking. High Street walk up to town, or Road of Remembrance, or even Shangrala Steps...one can't get closer to the centre than that Hotel.

We paid 49 quid for a double room where the bed was comfy and the place was clean. Basic and a bit tired but can't complain for the price. Convenient for the euro tunnel (10 mins) and coming the night belt meant we didn't have to get up at 2am. The harbour is delightful and a couple of mins walk away as it's the creative quarter. Good for a stroll. Lovely pubs nearby. Would stay here again.

A single room with a view of the harbour, that was unexpected but very nice. Room was spotless. Only fly in the ointment, people in the next room, kept their tv on all night so not much sleep. They turned it off when they went for breakfast. Overall, this was a enjoyable stay and would definitely return.

Good basic hotel. Paid extra for sea view, which was excellent, nice little balcony. Comfortable room. Good breakfast. Check-in was very busy when we arrived, but very efficient and we were checked in within about 5 minutes. Car park was very busy and we were lucky to get a space.

Good welcome and explanations, good service at bar and excellent breakfast, room was very clean, semi-sea facing and had a good bathroom. Hotel was busy which helped atmosphere.

Room and hotel were tired, but this was reflected in what we paid for it. Perfect for an overnight stay before picking up the Shuttle which is 15 mins away. Plentiful buffet breakfast for an additional £12 pp (but only £10.50 if we’d paid there), however it was swimming in grease and we’d recommend giving it a miss and picking up something at the terminal.

Room view over the harbour was lovely, room was clean but in bad need of a lick of paint. Fridge precariously balanced on a shelf, fell off when we opened it. Breakfast was terrible and i would advise anyone staying to dine out rather than in.

Ett stort hotell som nog hade sina glansdagar för ett antal år sedan. Vänlig men stressad personal i receptionen. Mycket folk i foajén, spelmaskiner och högljudda barn gjorde att det kändes stökigt och lite som när man åker bilfärja och alla ska trängas på en liten yta. Rummet var bra, synd bara att fönstren var så smutsiga då utsikten över hamnen och mot Dover var fantastiskt fin annars. Knepigt med parkering, hotellets stora parkering var full liksom de flesta närliggande men hittade på kajen en betalparkering med vakt. Vi var där på pingstdagen, så jag antar att det var extra mycket folk och barnfamiljer pga helgen. Kan absolut tänka mig att bo där igen, men det är ändå inget hotell jag längtar tillbaka till. Åt ingen frukost, så kan inte uttala mig om den. Utnyttjade inte heller hotellets övriga faciliteter.

Trevlig personal men hotellet är i dåligt skick. Behöver utrustas. Luktar illa och matter överallt som är super smutsig. Beställde rums städning som aldrig kom. Duschslang gick av vid första användning!

I had previously messaged the hotel to ask if my cycle could be locked up overnight but they never replied. When I arrived after cycling 71 miles from Canterbury, I found that my room 1508 was on the 1st floor and the lift wasn't working, so carried the cycle and panniers upstairs. Had my messages been read they may have given me a ground floor room? I had a shower and was starting to feel relaxed but it didn't last long, as I then lifted the toilet seat to be greeted by several stools from a previous occupant. The whole hotel is fairly tatty. I did however sleep quite well. It cost me £63 for the night, so I'd expect better.

Pros: The room was very clean and had all the bits and bobs you need ( hair dryer, fan, iron, tea making stuff, tv and a fridge). The hotel also provided a travel cot for our baby. The room had a great sea view. The hotel it self is interesting, a bit run down and rough round the edges. There was live entertainment in the “ballroom” every night, which was cringy in an amusing way. The location is excellent. The room price was very reasonable (mid week). It is a budget hotel not a luxury one. Negatives: the front desk is very understaffed, we wanted to extend our stay and had to queue at reception, only to then be told we had to book via a phone attached to the wall. When we used the phone we were quoted £10 more than hotels.com. We then had to queue for another 20mins to get new key cards. There was only 1 receptionist for a hotel with hundreds of rooms. The pool was pleasant enough but you have to pay £4 each every single time you use it (even as a paying guest at the hotel). I think that’s a bit cheeky and I’ve never experienced that in a hotel before. They could at least add a single charge to your room for a pool pass instead. We didn’t have breakfast as I thought it was a little over priced. Over all we enjoyed staying there and will definitely be returning.
