Flamingo Hotel

We arrrived to find that the pool was out of service, the ice machine was broken, the hallways smelled like mildew and smoke, the carpet was stained, and the wallpaper was torn and patched all throughout. Upon arriving to our room the faucet was rusted out, the bathroom tub continually peeked and the curtains were ripped. Breakfast in the morning was some old bread with flies on it, a bit of Froot Loops (no milk) and some packets of ketchup and butter. We would never stay here again. The place needs a serious overhaul.

This hotel was one of my worst experiences I’ve had. I ended up Leaving a day early cause It was such a poor experience. There is no pool to use. The pool is empty and they filled it up with all there extra furniture and microwaves etc. the breakfast bar was a joke. There was no cups or bowls or plates or utensils or anything to put food on. I had to go ask for a plate at the front desk. Nothing to drink except coffee but no cups. And no signs letting you know where to get any. They only had toast, fruit loops and a tiny bit of eggs but nothing to put it on. All the hallways stunk of cigarettes and the carpets are stained and filthy. I had to keep an eye on my car cause there were many homeless in and around the hotel looking inside peoples cars. The rooms weren’t too bad but I didn’t have any shampoo and one set of towels for a four night stay. When I asked for shampoo they said they don’t have any. No one cleaned my room while I was there and no word as to why they didn’t do that. Also the layout of the building is very complicated to get around. I do not recommend this place to any families with kids. Very unsafe place to stay.

Property in disrepair, smells like old dirty carpets and not very clean. Both swimming pools, one permanently closed the other closed for repairs. Room seemed updated and fairly clean but had no supplies with the coffee machine and only one paper cup unwrapped. We didn’t stay! Asked for a refund to no avail.

Entry doors from parking lot to access rooms from the inside are broken.

The mattress/bed was broken, half the mattress was caved in and missing, we weee woke. Up at 2 am by someone banging on our door looking for their drug dealer. Both pools were closed even after we called the hotel ahead of time and were told they were open and running. There is garbage and junk and broken chairs and bed rails scattered everywhere. Doors do not shut and are not secure at all, letting anyone to come and go. Homeless people staying anywhere they can there

Both myself and another patron, I met next morning at the breakfast bar, had to pay an ‘upgrade fee’ to have a ground floor room (there is no elevator to the 2nd floor). The ‘upgrade’ had a kitchenette, a large jetted tub and 2 queen beds which was very very nice The major downside: the drapes didn’t fully close, they was one drapery panel missing, and the drapes were torn and ragged on the ends of the drapery rods. My unit faced the street and not being able to properly close the drapes was unsettling! There was a fan blowing in my room when I checked in; I couldn’t turn it off, nor down (the other patron I spoke with couldn’t turn hers on in her unit). The ‘breakfast included’ was sufficient but it was the poorest I’ve ever had. There was bread, a toaster, some hot scrambled eggs, and some sausages that didn’t appear to have been cooked (they were pastry white, not browned) and only luke warm. There were also 2 choices of cold cereal. Most breakfasts at hotels I’ve stayed at will have yogurt, muffins, and/or fruit Having had foot surgery recently I wanted to elevate my legs in bed and decided the garbage can would be a good start for some height before adding pillows to raise my legs above the level of my heart. I took the garbage bag out of the kitchen garbage can and put it in the sink but then found the garbage can had a whole lot of drywall dust in it and so I couldn’t use it as I didn’t want all that dirt in the bed. Somewhere they are renovating I guess

The pool is not working, the gym is too small and washroom was not too bad but still needs improvement

Kinda a sketchy area. The upper entrance to the second floor is supposed to require a key for entry, but has been ripped open and no longer secure. Door to my room also was bent open at the bottom as if someone tried to pry it open. You get what you pay for. AC was cold, staff was nice and they do have security cameras.

Everything was filthy. It smelled terrible, every time I looked around I found somthing else dirty or messed up. Carpet in the room had ripples in it so one could trip on. Tv was all static, thermostat batteries were dead. Shut the fan off and it had the largest buildup of dust on the blades that I have ever seen. When I went back to get my deposit back that I was told to make sure I got back before I left the guy at the till was very rude and didn’t want to. He said I needed to wait till housekeeping checked over the room. After arguing with him he said he would check it. I went with him just in case he tried anything. When I pointed out how dirty everything was he basicly pushed me out of the hotel. I will never recommend this place to anyone. It was terrible.

it is a older hotel in need of a renovation room was clean and comfortable but the halls were clean but very dated carpet in the hall was stained.

We found bedbugs there yesterday. Quickly leave that place. Human hairs on bedsheets Very disappointed.

The only clean thing in our room was the bed. The floor had not been vacuumed for who knows how long. There was a used pair of socks behind a chair that were not ours. We had to buy Lysol cleaner to clean all the counters. There were no kitchen coffee supplies, glasses, coffee mugs etc. We asked for supplies which they brought. The cups were the little rinse cups that would cave in when filled with coffee. We bought coffee mugs and glasses. I would not recommend staying at this facility.

Absolutely disgusting. Our room was covered in mold and the bedding was filthy. The hole building looks like it’s never seen a mop or vacuum. There’s holes in the walls and there are bugs everywhere. On top of that the pool area wasn’t in a closed space it was in the centre of a bunch of rooms that overlooked the pool. It was supposedly “under construction” with water still in the pool and nothing to block it off except a single strip of caution tape (huge hazard especially for children). On top of that the staff didn’t seem phased or surprised about mold or filth in general and I had requested a refund due to the whole situation and wasn’t given a receipt because apparently they can’t print receipts there. Oh and the whole building smelt like it was a mix of rotting food and cigarettes. Save yourself and avoid this place at all costs.

I cant believe this hotel is still open. Its so discusting. The breakfast is terrible and despite there being 3 signs saying the pool was closed, not to mention the towel shelves were empty, they insisted that it was open. The rooms were moldy and the shampoo, conditioner and soap were all mismatched brands. I wish there was a way to share photos because words can not describe the state of this place.

When booking for a cheap price accommodation, I already be prepared and lowest my expectations. But, still really really disappointed for what I got: room is really dark and one of the lamp doesn’t work, bathroom is unclean, room is smell bad like sewage. People next to my room smoke right at front door. I couldn’t sleep because they talked so loud and kept slamming the door. I was so scared and worried about my car even it was park right in front and had to keep my ears up all night. End up with 3 hours sleep and walkup early to leave as soon as I can. Terrible experience ever! I just stopped by Medicine Hat for a night rest in the middle of a long drive from BC to SK, I would never expect this happened, If I didn’t book through third party site, I would definitely ask for refund. So, lesson learned: better pay more money somewhere else to get a safe place to stay.

Staff there were great! Lobby and hallways were very dirty! No coffee pods, glasses or cups. Fridge was iced up and not working. Blood on sheets in couple of places and big yellow stain in middle of duvet. Vent by bathroom sink smelt like urine. I striped bed and took sheets to office. Macro was very good and changed us to a jacuzzi suite which was the same quality as super 8 but larger. I was very upset but macro did a good job to fix the problem and a staff helped us move our bags. The sidewalk from the lobby to the outside suite door had a big pile of dried up dog feces. Also about at least 150 cigarette butts on the ground. Very very dirty looking and an easy fix! We didn’t want to stay to experience breakfast. I would never stay at this hotel again or recommend to any off my friends. The health board should be sent in there. As I use to live in Medicine Hat, we travel there very often and have stayed in hotels in the city about 50 times. I have never had this impression of any other hotel!

Didn't get the room I booked. No queen bed. They had me in a first floor room then when I arrived put me in a crappy second floor room in the back. Air conditioning not working. Internet not working. No cups for coffee or drinking. Not sure what i did to deserve to be put in such a crappy room.

The room with 2 queen beds was very spacious and clean. The pool was closed. The breakfast was very disappointing and unsatisfactory; we had breakfast somewhere else.

Room was way bigger than anticipated which was a nice surprise.

Beds we old and soft worn out and internet did not work at all. Couldn’t even find the hotel wifi

we were happy with price & pleasantly surprised to be upgraded but tv didnt work & neither did jacuzzi so much for upgrade,beds super comfortable

I spent two nights at this property. Two different rooms neither of them with any AC to speak of. The first room (219) was 35 degrees C when I entered and after 4 hours was still above 30 degrees. The bathroom floor was too hot to stand on with bare feet. The second room (117) a little better but never below 24 degrees C. I don't think I'll be staying there again.

The room was clean, the furniture was in good shape. The shower didn’t drain. The tub and sink should be replaced or recoated. The property is under much needed renovation.

Room was clean.Staff was nice. But I didn’t have a tv remote in my room, and the wifi works everywhere except my room?! I brought my gaming console but upset because I don’t even get to use it because I don’t have wifi in my room!

I had phoned ahead to make sure we had a ground level room, but when we arrived, a big panic arose as they didn’t have one, but made up for it by giving a premium room. 🙂

Great for a stop over, room clean and comfortable, just needed a space heater for heat..

Room had no towels or facecloths ect. Called the front desk and was rudely told housekeeping knew about it but were busy doing laundry so we'd have to wait. We waited u til checkout and couldn't wash before we left. NEVER AGAIN!

They were so unorganized No towels , no fridge , no shampoo, coffe maker didn’t work Had to ask over an over again , I had to walk to the desk as there was noo phone Paid for 4 nites but only stayed 2 nights She said I’d get a refund on the following Monday which never happened Been trying to phone to ask about a manager but no answers

Although we arrived there in the middle of the night, the guy at the reception helped us tremendously and was cheerful in every way. We were very pleased. He is definitely a person who does his job well. The comfort and cleanliness of the room is also excellent. It is a comfortable place. It is magnificent in terms of price and performance.

When we arrived at the property the front desk clerk was dealing with a customer who was not happy with his accommodations. She was trying to find out what he needed but he simply indicated his company had the details and he didn't have time to explain. She continued to prod to get some indication of what the problem was but he was not interested in giving details. After he left the front desk she puttered around untangling a phone cord and tidying the desk before acknowledging I was standing waiting for assistance. She indicated she did not have our reservation. I showed her my confirmation and still she indicated she did not have it. She then proceeded to say she could book me a room ... um what? I already have a reservation that is paid for. Back and forth (I was very polite but was getting a bit exasperated for sure). In the end I told her I would talk to my husband - we in turn found another property to stay at that was much better. I was not pleased with the service, nor the state of the hotel. There was a funky smell in the lobby area and I can only imagine what the rooms might have been like. We were very disappointed after a long day of travel. In the end we just ate the cost of the prepaid room and moved on.

I would not recommend this facility be used to house stray animals let alone people. No working key cards for the two rooms we booked so the front desk needs to escort you to your room anytime you leave it. Hallways reek of cigarettes and pets. Hot tub is "under repair" but has been for over a year given all the other reviews. TVs were not operational in either room we booked. Furniture had stains on it that I choose to believe was old coffee. Shower didnt appear clean. Brought up issues with the front desk and they said I would need to take up issues with hotels.com as that is who we booked with. Spoke with Hotels.com rep and they said to speak to the hotel manager. Asked to speak to the hotel manager and apparently he doesnt work after 4pm or before check out so he was conveniently unavailable.

The front desk staff was incompetent. The room had stains in the carpet and on the shower curtain, There was no remote for the TV. The bathtub drain wouldn't close. The outside door had huge gaps and could see daylight all around it, and feel cold air rushing in. The heater didn't work. The tissue box was empty. They wouldn't refund the room $200 security for 24 hours.

Overall, my Mom and I had a wonderful time at this place. The manager and other staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent room that had two queen beds and a hot tub. This is truly a unique hotel. I understand that it needs some upkeep but at the same time, it gives the place character. I was not seeking perfection from this hotel, but a reasonable priced hotel that was in a good location. The hotel is huge. Really take the time to decide what room what you want to stay in because it can make a huge difference in your experience. I would like to thank the manager for making our stay awesome.

Biggest issue is the homeless and drug using population around this hotel. You will find people passed out from drug or alcohol use around the property. The first night of our stay one of our vehicles was broken into and some property stolen. No cameras pointing at anything other than the front doors. All ice machines are broken. Only good thing I found was the bed was soft. The word Quality should be removed from this property as it’s far from any acceptable level of such.

The lobby is clean and updated. Parking is right out front, convenient and easy. No restaurant on site. They rent out a portion of the rooms for $1600 a month. Some hallways and corridors smell of cigarette smoke, one had poop smeared in the carpet. Our floor had a hall chair that had blood smeared on the wall and dirty clothing, ice machines did not work, we had a prostitute to our left as well as across the hall from us, and a dirty condom in the hallway in the morning. Our room was pretty clean, one bed had some what looked like dried blood, wear shoes as your feet will feel oily or greasy if barefoot, tv remotes did not work, jacuzzi tub was so loud we thought it would break and fall through the floor so we turned it off. Pool said out of order but we were told it could be used. When we went to leave the pool area , accidentally applied pressure to what we thought was the exit door and it turned out to be a dirty room in use. We found the bed comfortable There are updates being done Some rooms are outdated. Staff was polite

I needed to be near the hospital and a good restruant. All good for the price. Bathroom door needs repair. Couldn’t control the ac. But temp was okay.

This hotel is in need of upgrading. I understand that some rooms are being renovated, but overall, the few clients appear to be long-term. The price is good and the second room offered was fine. Breakfast is quite minimal. There's a nice restaurant/pub right next door.

Property is currently under renovation. Beds new and extremely comfortable. Upgraded for free to suite to be given a main floor room for mother with limited mobility. Area is business right off trans- Canada #1. Convenient to hospital and multiple dining options.

pros :Staff was very nice ,place was quiet Cons: old part of town , not a nice neighborhood , homeless people, run down , nothing around for kids or Parents to do .

Staff were helpful. I had asked for a ground floor room for dog. Was given ground floor room at the very back of the building. My outside light was the only working light. The area was dirty with junk and garbage I. Areas. There was really no lit area where I could park a uhaul truck that I felt would be safe. I ended up leaving it at the front of the building and walking to and from the truck.

Weirdest hotel set up ,i had to go through the 4 th door , turn left ,through 2 doors past the pool,up the stairs through the door, down the hall and step up into my room. I say a few people wondering around lost. Room was clean and comfy but the pool had a lot of dirt on the bottomand the floor was dirty. I won't stay here agian.

We went there to have continental breakfast in the morning and we're very very disappointed.All they had was eggs and sausages,coffee,cereal.No fruits or muffins. I would not recommend this hotel in Medicine Hat as they don't really care about their customers. We found used towels in the washroom it obviously hadn't been cleaned up by any of the cleaning staff. No coffee maker in our room they had to hunt for one also there were no mugs for coffee

Breakfast was just sad. No juice in the dispenser, barely warm, dried out eggs and sausages (maybe that's why the microwave is there!) and had to get your plate, cutlery and coffee cup from the front desk. Room had a Keurig with two coffee pods but no cups or sugar, creamer, etc. No glasses in the room at all. The door to the room had a gap as the door bent inwards slightly towards the bottom. They are under renovation and I suspect it will take a long time before they are done.

Pool and hot tub were out of service and look as though they have been for quite some time. back stairwell reeked of cigarette smoke. Room came with free breakfast but when we went to get breakfast we found it completely empty. Out of eggs, sausage, baked goods, juice and coffee we all empty. There was some cereal left but no milk for it. Had to go to the McDonalds next door to get breakfast. Huge disappointment. The facility always had some unsavory looking people loitering about as well. Never felt safe. Had to occasionally check on our vehicle to make sure it was okay.

The breakfast was a delicious hot meal, eggs, sausage, toast coffee, etc. The room was hard to get to, climbing up and down metal stairs with snow covered and carrying suitcases. Especially being elderly. The bathroom ceiling fan was disgustingly dirty, nobody looks up to clean. I give it overall a 3 being the low cost for the night.

This property has seen better days. However my room was quite comfortable and clean. Not very busy at all but decent limited breakfast - hard to do with few guests. Great value for price - half the price and twice the value of my stay in Calgary.

Everything important to us was good - the service at the desk; the cleanliness and location of the room; the parking area; and the breakfast.
