Continental Hotel Lausanne

Wonderful welcome at reception by Karin, who was consistently kind and helpful. The bedroom was clean - apart from the terrace. The 'terrace' was a very narrow dirty area and unusable. Not wide enough for a chair. The room should not be advertised as having a terrace. The hotel was generally very run down and in desperate need of refurbishment. Facilities such as bar, cafe, and restaurant, as advertised on the internet, were not there. This 'hotel' is a poorly maintained room with a very poor breakfast, in a good location near to the train station. It does not meet 4 star standards and should be re-evaluated. There was a coffee making machine but nowhere to plug it in. The towels were old and frayed, and one had a fairly large hole in it. There is no mattress cover so the low bed was rather uncomfortable because the upholstery buttons of the mattress can be felt through the sheet. Breakfast was poor. I only wanted white bread (due to allergy I cannot have anything else) with a small piece of cheese or a banana. Half the time there was no white bread available (I asked) or bananas. Very small white rolls were provided on two mornings - so hard and overbaked they were difficult to cut open. I took to bringing my own bread from a local restaurant, as the brown and multi grain bread provided to slice were making me ill. There was some sliced white bread (supermarket style) which was dry and hard and inedible. I hope this hotel can be quickly brought up to an acceptable standard.

Hotel is very basic. Turn the dehumidifier on in your room otherwise it starts to smell like mildew.

This is an excellent mid range choice. It’s clean, comfortable and quiet. Rooms are generous, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom good. Staff were welcoming and helpful. I would stay there again.

Excellent location next to the station, very friendly and helpful staff, lots of amenities in the room. Excellent stay but a little dated on the inside
