Locke de Santa Joana

The property is beautiful and newly renovated. The hotel was clean and quiet, with an excellent location. There are multiple restaurants and bars, and a nice pool to relax at during the day. Because it is a renovated Monestary, it is quite large and a bit quirky. I also enjoyed the gym facility.

I really enjoyed my stay. Well equipped studio apartment in good condition, including a washer/dryer and air conditioning. Very comfy, big bed. Several places to eat on-site, bars and coffee shop. Or you can self-cater using the kitchenette area in the studio apartment. There is an outdoor pool with loungers and chairs provided (closes for the colder months at the end of October). Also a gymn Staff are friendly and helpful. Very close to a metro statiion at Marquês de Pombal (so travel to/from the airport is easy) and many buses. Many hop on/hop off sightseeing buses also start and finish at Marquês de Pombal.

Best European hotel I have stayed in. Nice rooms that were clean with all amenities. Hotel was quiet at night time and beds were comfortable so I slept without disturbance. Good offer of food and drink with a cafe, restaurants and bar. Breakfast was lovely with a good variety. Interesting setting with part of the building being in a former convent. Good location. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. I couldn’t fault the hotel and would definitely recommend it.

First, this place is big, four or five building complex. The rooms we had were clean and tidy, but small to US standards. We ate at the Santa Marta Mediterranean restaurant, it was very good. We chose to eat at local places to experience a variety of cuisine. Parking was on site and very easy to access. The location was very good, tons of shopping and restaurants in walking distance.

The pool was beautiful and great, but way to few sunbeds… there were never any sunbeds free for me.

The location is really special. The speakeasy listening Bar is top and the Pizza at the restaurant by the pool one of the best in Lisbon. A missing point is the Gym and the lack of decent coffee in the rooms (instant coffee really?????).

Beautiful property, conveniently located , nice large rooms. Great coffee spot in lobby, the croissants were amazing! Just a busy tough to navigate If room is in another section . Would definitely stay again.

Great location and hotel has a nice modern feel with some excellent restaurants and bars. Only issue is the fight for loungers and space around the pool.

We LOVED our say here! The pool is stunning and the bar staff was great and friendly! The food poolside is 10/10 and everything was extremely comfortable!

Check in process was excellent and - having had our flight delayed 24 hours - the team were in touch proactively on WhatsApp to check okay. Worth (if you’re arriving by taxi) checking the arrival location as it can take you to the Santa Marta entrance which would be confusing. Hotel itself is lovely and clean, great coffee shop, tidy and clean pool area - well thought out. Would definitely stay here again it’s ideal for navigating out from: 15 min taxi from the airport (use Bolt would be my advice on our experience) Marques de Pombal metro just outside for getting into town quickly. Plenty of Bolt/Lime scooters around if you want to get in the fun way. Lots of GREAT breakfast options nearby too including Hygge Cafe. Also excellent if you want to get a taxi further afield- we went to Cascais and Carcavelos to beaches on separate days and cost €12-15 by Bolt and was sub 30 mins.

Nice hotel with a great vibe and location Overall, the hotel is very nice — we especially loved the location and the laid-back atmosphere. However, we did notice some issues with cleanliness in our room. Small details were overlooked, like a full garbage can upon arrival and a bathroom that appeared only partially cleaned.

Séjour de deux semaines relativement agréable. Le personnel nous a bien accueillis et la localisation du studio est idéale pour explorer Lisbonne : tout est accessible à pied et la mer se trouve à environ 30 minutes de marche. L’ambiance de l’hôtel est agréable, le studio bien isolé et nous avons très bien dormi (même si les portes qui claquent font parfois trembler les murs). Le seul vrai bémol concerne le ménage : à notre arrivée, il restait des miettes par terre, et lors du nettoyage hebdomadaire, l’aspirateur n’avait pas été passé. De plus, une capsule de lessive (nous n’en avions que deux pour tout le séjour) avait été mouillée et était devenue inutilisable. Heureusement, l’équipe a réagi rapidement en nous remplaçant les capsules et en envoyant une personne de ménage le lendemain, ce qui a été parfaitement assuré. Concernant la piscine, il vaut mieux y aller tôt le matin pour être sûr d’avoir un transat. En journée, c’est plus compliqué, mais on peut toujours s’installer sur l’herbe. Dans l’ensemble, une belle expérience à Lisbonne, avec quelques points à améliorer. Nous donnons un 8/10. 👍

Great hotel with an excellent location. Our room had a spacious balcony, which was a nice touch. However, I did have a couple of issues. The closet space was extremely limited—there was no room to hang a dress or even a men's shirt, as the clothing bar was placed above a chest of drawers. Additionally, there was a strong, unpleasant moldy smell in the bathroom that was hard to ignore. It was noticeable as soon as we entered the room, and we had to keep the bathroom door closed at all times to minimize the odor.

Durante 6 dias em Lisboa ficamos em 2 quartos diferentes, isso porque fiz reservas separadas. Um no quarto e outro no apartamento. Isso nos deu duas percepções muito diferentes do hotel mas que na avaliação geral, se nivelam numa avaliação boa… Bom, o quarto era muito distante do hall do hotel, não chegava a ser um problema, mas nos molhamos algumas vezes porque para acessá-lo, havia uma passagem descoberta. Além disso, o quarto que ficamos tinha uma disposição ruim da cama, o conforto dela era excelente, mas a posição dela no quarto era péssima, tanto que para abrir a porta do quarto batíamos a perna na cama, fiquei com alguns roxos… porém a vedação sonora e de luz neste quarto eram excelentes… Quando nos mudamos para o apartamento, a experiência mudou, o acesso ao quarto era no elevador do hall, super fácil, mas já era um quarto de frente pra rua, mais barulhento e não isolava entrada de luz tão facilmente, mas a cama continuou incrível, o apartamento era bem mais espaçoso, o fato de termos uma máquina de lavar roupa foi primordial pra nossa eurotrip… estava tudo bem exceto pelo banheiro; a porta do box do banheiro batia no chuveiro, o aquecedor de toalhas era ao lado da privada, o que gerava um desconforto térmico ao usá-la e pra piorar, o ralo do chuveiro estava entupido e inundou o banheiro do quarto, nisso voltou cabelo do ralo e tivemos que acionar a recepção, que se dispôs a resolver prontamente e foi resolvido, porém senti que em breve o ralo irá entupir novamenre

The room we got was okay. The bedroom was small though, and the bed took up all the space. There was a washing machine, which was a good idea, but no where to hang the clothes, that can’t handle to be dried in a machine. The pool area is great, though the pool is very small, it does the job. There’s a lotvof small children there though, and It’s very difficult to get a sunbed at the pool, as guest get up at 5-6 in the morning to lay towels on the sunbeds to occupie them. Some guest occupied them the whole day, even when they where not at the area, some sunbeds being left for hours, while guestvwhwn out shopping or going to lunch. The staff was made aware of this, not only by us, but several frustration guest, but the staff did nothing about it. We went to the Gym once. It was ok, it did the job. But it was not very clean. And there was blood on the training bench, and several of the hand weights. I got blood on my skin and on my clothes, when lying on the training bench. I felt really disgusted by that. I wen’t to the reception and made them aware, they just asked me to send pictures of it. They didn’t even bother to offer to take my clothes to the cleaner. On ouer last day at the hotel, we had ouer 10 years wedding anniversary. And asked if they could do something speciel for us. But they did not. Even though we send them a mail before ouer trip, and while we were there. And even mentinoned it at the reception. We saw other people getting baloons to their room, but i gu

Horrible stay here -- do not recommend. They broke my expensive luggage and were entirely unprofessional. When I asked to inform me regarding early check in they complained about how many rooms there are and how hard it is to let people know. If hotels as large as the Marriott can do this, why can't you? Lazy check in experience. Then, our room was filthy with the bathroom not being cleaned and someone's contact lenses glued to the counted and the towels dirty as was the toilet -- seriously? The coffee in the room was horrible as well. We asked for a late check out of 1 hour and they tried to charge 30 Euro for this? Ridiculous and totally unprofessional. Will not recommend -- other hotels in Lisbon are much more professional and accommodating, where the staff actually wants to work.

Room was not very clean, dust everywhere

The hotel room we had was Locke studio with balcony. Balcony is not private with no dividers between the other rooms so you have to keep your door locked. View from the balcony is of the pool below, which is nice. The rooms overall are all very small (as a Canadian) and the beds as well. However, bed was comfortable and clean. Kitchenette was stocked with utensils and very clean as well. Laundry machine easy to use. Toilet is VERY small and squished, hard to use if you’re tall. Shower is clean no mold or soap scum. Water pressure is good but doesn’t get hot enough. Elevators in the hotel are slow but everything else is good.

One of our favourite hotels ever! For a large hotel it has a boutique feel. Designed beautifully. Every room came with a small living and kitchen area. This is so helpful especially if you plan to stay for 3+ days or with a family. We mostly walked around the city and it was a hike getting back to the hotel cause it is up hill. But we would do it again! Gym was great! Great air conditioning and it never got too busy. Loved the little coffee shop in the foyer. Food and coffee was good and fairly priced. LOVED the pool area but it gets so busy in the summer. If you’d like a lounge spot, we suggest going early! The also had a lounge space for guests that would be a great hang our spot for families groups. Check in and check out process was super smooth and fast with the self check option! Every hotel should have this. Would stay again and highly recommend!

Noise from the street was an issue for sleeping. The windows don’t provide enough buffer for people’s voices on the street. Bad odour from the bathroom. Both of those issues were not a deal killer because I am a fan of the Locke brand but what was unforgivable was an unpleasant staff member who managed the breakfast bar. The other staff were fabulous but this guy accused me of sneaking into the bar and essentially stealing a coffee. He was aggressive and insistent, and at 72 l have been seldom as offended as l was by him. I was shocked.

Friendly staff, great onsite dining and loved the room amenities like washer/dryer. The hotel is also a great location near luxe shopping, nearby a metro station as well as the hop on hop off bus tour. Still walkable to popular neighborhoods but far enough away in peace & quiet as well.

Huge hotel with different sides and entrances (make sure Bolt doesn’t drop you off at the car park). Nice looking apartment style rooms. Great to have a cafe in the hotel and restos if you want. Staff were very friendly. Nice walking area with lots to offer. On the negative side, check in at 4 is pretty late. But mainly our stay was quite miserable as our room was under the 24 hr gym so we had on and off loud booming from weights and balls being dropped including early morning waking us up. It was really quite unbelievable and nothing like we have experienced before. Be aware of B-3 level especially which is under the gym. In our opinion these rooms shouldn’t even be rented out it was so miserable. And management’s response to our complaint was really disappointing. Would not recommend this hotel because of our experience.

Hotel was perfect. Stayed 6 nights here and enjoyed our stay. Room was spacious. Love the mini kitchen area equipped with a washer which we love esp with the dirty laundry. Room aircon temperature was perfect it was blowing cold air instead of warm and not making the room stuffy. Location was great quiet area. Abit of a walk to Baixa but it was a lovely stroll. Uber is VERY cheap if you’re tired from walking. Check-in was breezy, cafe at the reception was lovely too. Gym was fully equipped too. Overall, love the vibe of the hotel. Will definitely stay here again. Things to take note: they don’t do automatic regular cleaning like other normal hotel does. You’ll have to inform them if you want your room to be clean. No phone in room it’s all via WhatsApp. It takes quite awhile for the staffs to get back to you if you need the amenities. No room slippers or toothbrush tho so bring yours.

We really enjoyed our stay. As other reviews have noted, the staff is super helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Carlota! The rooms can be small but are cleverly, comfortably (great beds!) and attractively designed and offer every amenity you could need. Close to the Metro and to Parque Eduardo VII, which has an amazing sunset view of Lisbon. Will definitely return!

The hotel is located in a very convenient neighborhood and offers clean rooms with beautiful amenities, making the property itself a wonderful place to stay. However, my experience was affected by the front desk staff, who came across as dismissive and unwelcoming. While the hotel has a lot to offer, the service fell short of the standard expected.

Staff was very helpful. However this hotel seems to be used by a lot of event and conference groups so it was crazy busy every day with lots of people checking in and out. This also made the property quite loud. The room was nice and fairly clean.

The reception staff who guided us to our room was above and beyond wonderful and helpful. I didn't catch his name but he wore glasses. He was a credit to your team and made us so welcome

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. After checking out, I realized I had accidentally left my EarPods on the bed. I emailed the hotel, and they responded quickly, confirming they had found them. A few days later, I was able to pick them up with no trouble at all. I really appreciated their prompt communication and helpfulness—it gave me peace of mind and showed great service.

After suffering through two horrible nights at another residence we booked this hotel on a whim to get away from the other place, and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived fairly early in the day. Getting there is easy, the metro subway station is just a 3 minute walk away and connects you to almost everywhere in Lisbon. The staff was very welcoming, and when they heard about our initial experience staying in Lisbon they were kind enough to let us check in early! The hotel is very big and can be a bit confusing as it is made up of several buildings connected via elevator and hallways, but once you've made your rounds a few times it's fairly easy to navigate. The room was pretty big. Nice and clean beds and bathroom, with a little kitchen, a washing machine and a little balcony overlooking the hotel bar area. You could hear the music in the evening, but it wasn't bothersome. The only downside was that the shower in the bathroom leaked on the floor making it a bit messy (a minor inconvenience). The swimming pool was a lovely bonus, and there was no problem grabbing sunbeds to chill by the pool. They have some restaurants and bars as well. We only had a drink at one of the bars, but the atmosphere was very nice and they seemed pretty popular. Also want to mention that one of the reception staff recommended another fantastic restaurant, so do not hesitate to ask them. They also have free luggage storage at the hotel. Customer service was excellent. Jose of the front desk gave a thorough info about the hotel; he was friendly and professional even at our almost-midnight check-in. Room was spacious and clean. Beautiful dining within the hotel property. One thing that needs improvement is the load/unload area in front of the hotel. There basically was not a safe space to get in and out to the hotel so our Rideshare had to pick us up or drop off at a hectic and unsafe manner. I don’t know if it’s due to construction,

This place is incredible! It’s clean, beautiful, centrally located and safe (even though it can look a little sketchy between the Burger King and the hotel). The cleaning staff was great and had the bathroom trash refreshed daily, along with providing fresh towels. This was huge! The staff was unforgettable and helpful in every way. Special recognition for Tiago, Ivo, Carlota, Erica, Rodrigo and the AMAZING staff at Joana (the best meal in Portugal)! The only two things I wish they had were shower caps and wash cloths, but despite that, it was great! I am already looking to other properties in other countries because this place knows how to do it with excellence!

This hotel is incredibly hard to navigate, elevators everywhere hallways every which way. you’re also charged 30.00 per person for a mediocre breakfast that ends at 10:30 on Saturday and Sundays. For a hotel that charges more than others in its price range the upselling is surprising. I paid 90.00 after paying for the room for things that my cheaper hotel with nicer staff and better rooms included. To complete the stay a staff member initially refused to release my bags claiming I had been given multiple baggage check tags ( I was given one) I then was told that I had to admit to her that I lost the ticket and apologize she then released my bags so I could go to the airport. She needed to be right and I needed to be wrong an appropriate end to my short stay at this hotel.

Our stay at Locke de Santa Joana far exceeded our expectations. Through the property there is a keen attention to detail and cleanliness. We really enjoyed our food and beverages we had during our stay, but what really stood out the most was the level of customer service. Every staff member we had an exchange with were so kind and genuine. Our check in and check out experience was a breeze, and the front desk staff are amazing ambassadors of the hotel and the chain. We will be staying here again, and would give consideration to other Locke hotel locations in the future.

Great stay, such a cute hotel, great location if you’re willing to walk a bit to get to the touristy area. Close to the mall and great restaurants! Would be great for solo travel, everyone was fairly young and friendly, also great if you’re looking for a hotel to work from, solid WiFi and lots of places to cowork.

My stay at Locke de Santa Joana was fantastic. I loved the peaceful courtyard and the relaxing pool area. The room was excellent, modern, comfortable, and the kitchenette was a great bonus. I will definitely return!

Really nice hotel, big and with multiple areas and restaurants. Pleasant and modern room. I didn´t try the breakfast, it looked way too expensive for an average buffet

Our room was a little small, but they have larger options. Location is fantastic. Staff is even better. Onsite restaurant is very good.

The rooms are clean and charming! the properly has a a lot to offer. Best pizza I had waa at the hotel restaurant.

We loved our stay at this Locke apartment! We’ve stayed at lots of the Lockes over the years so it only made sense to stay at this one for our mini-moon in Lisbon! Great location, the Sunday brunch was INCREDIBLE - highly recommend! The pool was super cold so didn’t fully go in but it was a little warmer probably would have! Other bar and restaurant were fab and the little coffee shop at the front was great for a morning coffee before starting our day! Friendly staff and even got a little note and some drinks to say congratulations - lovely touch! Will definitely be back!!

This hotel was good! Clean, safe, centrally located, especially if you book excursions, a meeting point is very close by! The pool and pool area was beautiful. Little cafe at the lobby was so good and very needed in the mornings. Staff was ok - helpful but no one went above and beyond with anything. It was normal. Restaurant was great! Santa Marta is top tier! My only callouts are that our mattress was not good. Our backs actually began to hurt by the time we left. Yes we could’ve asked to move room but we were on a schedule and didn’t want to waste time moving if we had already settled in. The room itself was SMALL. And honestly at that size you don’t need to squeeze in a couch AND a desk. Makes it very hard to walk around. The other thing is the layout and the floors of the hotel. They have -3 and 0 floor and in order to get to the pool you have to go -4 … it’s all very confusing and you have to travel through buildings to get to the pool depending on where you are staying. Nothing we can do there but perhaps provide more specific instruction and with a map? Otherwise we. Had a good stay.
