Fabulous hotel, beautifully remodeled and excellent service. Water machine in lobby is really a nice touch, and encourages use of reusable bottles, plus saves the hassle of trying to find water all the time. The parking is hard to find, and access once parked, and $40 per night seems a bit much for Edmonton. Otherwise, we had a fabulous stay!

staff was amazing and so helpful, always enjoy a stay at a fairmont. The property however is in need of a lot of care. There was a stain left on the loveseat in my room that does not take a lot of imagination as to what it was. The steam room smelled like sewer and mold. The hot sauna has not been cared for or cleaned, the cedar was so poorly cared for it peeling off on my swimsuit. It was not an enjoyable experience.

Not sure how I can upload the pictures I took. However I took a whole ton of pictures I emailed to the manager. Cleanliness was disgusting, the room was dirty. The rooms are very dated, I understand vintage. But it the tables were scratched, dirty, chipped, very abused look and very welcoming. The touch up paint done in room on the doors and frames and crown moulding looks like it was done by a toddler with a paint brush. You can tell someone tried but only made it look worse as paint was splattered on the ceiling. The caulking in the bath has visible mold on it, the least they can do is remove it and recaulk it. For $400 an evening I will never stay there again. We stayed in room 617.

A lot going on for just one nice.. Weird mechanical high pitch noise in the walls. had to switch rooms.. the walk back and forth with the parking confusion. that walk through the alley way sketchy as well and dirty. dead lady bugs near curtains and wall.

Hotel and rooms are decent but dated, water pressure for shower is low . no smart tv intial explanation to parking was confusing, was waiting for parkade code but had to call back after 2 hrs to get . parking is not convenient and common areas was very old and dirty . A casual cafe or some convenience shopping would a be great . compared to other fairmont and more standard hotels , was below standards overall . would not consider staying here again .

The hotel itself is quite nice but on a Friday night the area outside the hotel is literally a race track with extremely loud cars and motorcycles constantly buzzing past. When you combine that with the fact that the windows have no sound insulation and it's an older building, it was a very loud sleepless night. If you're partying this place would probably be great. If you need a good night's sleep, look elsewhere.

Hotel is beautiful if aged. My room had cracks in ceiling and wall chipped badly. Clean. Comfy beds. Nice shower. Breakfast delicious. Lounge food bland and stale and very overpriced. Great pet service, love that they have a hotel dog

We always enjoy Fairmont Properties. The Hotel MacDonald is one of the older properties and is undergoing some renovations. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Our room was extremely hot despite being in winter. We had the windows open and a fan on all night but it was still uncomfortably warm.

The accommodations are lovely. We stayed in the Executive Gold Suite and were thoroughly spoiled!! Unfortunately, the parking valets are terrible. My daughter almost missed her own wedding waiting for them to retrieve our car. I had called the concierge to have our car brought up so it would be ready when we came downstairs. We were a wedding party with the bride, maid of honor, mother and grandmother of the bride, all dressed up for the event standing on the front steps of the hotel for 40 minutes waiting for our car. I checked three times with the valets and it wasn’t until the fourth time we were told they didn’t know which car was ours. Would have been helpful to have that information 40 minutes prior! I personally checked the ticket numbers to get our keys and then we got to wait another 15 minutes for the car to be brought around. Absolutely a terrible experience for a bride to be an hour late to her own wedding!

Our stay initially was fantastic. The food service staff were amazing. But when we checked out we had a difficult time. We paid with gift cards and they were not processed properly. We then had a deposit for the room held on our credit card for over a week and we are still dealing with this. The manager was also really rude and short with us. I made a formal complaint. I won’t be going back to the Edmonton location again.

Check in was terrible. Official check in is 3:00 pm. We arrived around 3:30 pm. We were told our room was not ready and would be ready in about 30 minutes. Our room was still not ready 45 minutes later. The front desk then said it would be another 20 minutes or so. I then said unacceptable as we had an upcoming commitment. Front desk then gave us a different room. Unbelievable for a fine hotel.

Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the entire hotel, including the restaurants and pool area. Very clean and beautiful inside. Self parking was a little confusing and a little bit of a walk, and the area around the hotel was dirty and felt unsafe (not in the hotel’s control). Everything was good but expected a little more for the price of everything.

Beautiful Downtown Edmonton Hotel, excellent Comfort of Beds, Great limited food Menu at premium prices, fantastic Scenery from Outdoor Terrace of Gardens and River Valley River, central Downtown has too many Homeless & Drug Addicts that during night and day are a spoiler that takes away a good feeling. We have decided not to stay in the Central Downtown Edmonton City until improvement. Nice Hotel to experience once, but we will not book again.

We had stayed at the Hotel Macdonald several times before... but this time was disappointing. I think that when you market yourself as the classiest hotel in town and charge those rates, then you better get the details right. Breakfast in the Harvest Room was very average, though expensive. Music in the bar was loud and inappropriate for the historic setting. Rooms were a bit depressing.

Staff was great. Very accommodating and attentive. Hotel is beautifully. Did the afternoon tea which was exceptional. Breakfast was also great. Had a drink in the lounge the last day and this broke the experience a bit. Server never came back and waited 40 mins for anyone to come. People just walked by ignoring the empty drinks. Had to go to the bar and ask for another drink and my bill.
