Our spa room on the second floor overlooked one of the four swimming pools. Although the room itself was compact with little space for luggage, the large balcony with outdoor spa, table and chairs provided a sense of space. The large bathroom provided a walk-in shower, toilet and wide wash basin and cabinet. The kitchenette was equipped with a microwave, expresso machine, toaster and kettle plus glassware, china and cutlery for 2 people. The room was easily accessible by lift from the basement carpark. The location of the hotel is within easy walking of the beach, shops and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff.

It was a lovely and clean place to stay! Definitely would stay here again. The room size was a bit small so we struggled without a lot of storage space for cases but the parking was good and under cover. The products they gave you were great quality and we really enjoyed to spa bath on the balcony.

Stayed in the swim out apartment. Great space and utilities , outdated decor but not an issue, clean but there is a smell from chlorine when entering room but again didn’t bother us get used to it and open windows it’s fine , relaxing and quiet peaceful, friendly staff and great location so close to the Main Street , would definitely go back

We have stayed here twice now and both times excellent. Wedding Anniversary this time and they upgraded our room along with a bottle of wine which was very much appreciated. Everything is easily in walking distance, large pools, quiet and safe and very friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again.

Stay at Matra Aqueous was excellent. It is in a great location, close to beach and main township area of Port Douglas. The pools are great, though would be nice if one was heated. Only disappointment was that only two coffee pods are provided per stay, and when I asked for more the charge was $12!

This is our second time in a swim out room and we love it. The pool access is a bonus, proximity to town, the marina and the beach is also a plus for us. Easy to walk everywhere means we didn’t need a car for the time we were there.

The hotel is perfectly located but spend a bit extra to stay somewhere more modern and looked after. Bathroom was full of black mould and the ceiling fan barely moved. Rooms are not serviced and only two coffee pods were provided for a 4 night stay. When I asked for more at reception the advised we had to pay for them. Pool is run down and one of the filter covers broke as I walked over it. Pool is not heated and too cold in the winter months; nobody was using it. There was a spa on the balcony but all balconies need to be clear by 10pm. This place would have been nice in the early 00's but there are so many better places to stay in Port Douglas for a bit more than the $350 we paid here.

We have stayed here a few times , seems dated and a little aged of late , Standards have dropped, and forget about contacting them at anytime by phone . Great location, great pool , rooms are great , just needs a bit more maintenance and better cleaning.

It was a lovely and clean place to stay! Definitely would stay here again. This was our first time to Port Douglas and we absolutely loved our visit. However, the accommodation was disappointing. Our room smelt very strongly of damp, which I assume is from people coming into the room wet making the carpet wet. Also, the condition of the room wasn’t what we would normally expect from a hotel. For example, the carpet in one of the corners was ripped up and there were quite a lot of large scrapes and marks on the walls. Note as well that you have to take your own rubbish out to the bins and your towels do not get changed if you are staying for a few days. We were unsure if this was typical of hotels in Port Douglas or not, but we haven’t experienced that at a hotel before. Apart from that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Port Douglas is a wonderful place! The hotel was very well located near to shops and restaurants, but it was very quiet at night time. We used the hotel parking which was very easy to use. We would definitely visit Port Douglas again, but we would not stay at this hotel!

Location was perfect. However the accommodation itself was musty and not well maintained. The shutters were broken and the room smelly. We had to access our own clean towels although I do believe if we paid extra the rooms would be serviced. Never saw any staff except at reception..these staff were friendly and polite.

Room was in need of update- particularly bathroom . Spa was so noisy that it was alarming. Two Nespresso capsules supplied with advice that additional could be bought from reception. Overall it would have been acceptable at half the price of $424 per night.

Friendly staff, room had been painted since we were here last year. Looked nice and refreshed. Proximity to Macrosson Street and pubs and restaurants. Didn't like the noise in the middle of the night from the Night Owl shop who liked to slam shut the large bin lid multiple times every night. Had to buy ear plugs.

Great Location. Friendly staff. Stayed in the Ground Floor Room with walk out to pool which was great. Spa was great. Room was small. Nowhere to put suitcases. Bathroom old and needs renovation. Shutters were in need of repair. Definitely needs renovation so a bit expensive for quality.

Amazing location and staff. Rooms are bit hot and miss as some rooms need refurbishing asap. Thomas the manager was super helpful and displayed great customer service. I travelled with my 5 year old daughter who loved the swim out pool.

Was disappointed to find the rooms are not serviced daily. We stayed 3 nights. The check in flyer advised they provided free tea, coffee and bathroom supplies. However on the 3rd and final night we asked for another coffee and were told no. We have to buy a packet of 10. We were provided 2 coffees for 3 nights stay. The receptionist was unnecessarily rude about it. Spa baths are good. Nice pool area. Lots of rules to read, seems like they get alot of party groups.
