Rooms clean, lovely hotel only minor downside fridge in our room old and freezer compartment iced so couldn't use hotel decor a bit dated but the staff amazing, friendly nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was very good hot & cold plenty fresh fruit and free coffee machine a bonus on level 2 and breakfast room...

Spotless room, very welcoming and extremely polite staff, excellent stay overall. Very tasty breakfast and free coffee all day long, free billiards. Superb location as it is a 20 minute walk to all the sightseeing areas.

My stay at Mariners was a delight. All of the staff were super friendly and reception were very helpful. The breakfast was delicious and wifi was fast! I got to do some remote work on my laptop in the conference room on level 2 on my day of checkout before my late afternoon connecting train. Loved it here and will definitely visit again!

Common rooms with all day coffee was great and the breakfast options were very good

Staff were friendly and helpful, when ever we required assistance. Unfortunately the bathroom had an overwhelming strong smell of bleach upon arrival. A toaster and some cutlery would have been helpful in our room. We enjoyed the using the facilities in the Recreation room. Overall we had a comfortable stay. Thank you.

The hotel was older but well maintained. Full breakfast being included was great and quite adequate. I had not realized there wasn’t 24hr reception. In fact reception hours are quite limited. Consequently I felt a bit less secure as I was traveling on my own.

Rapport qualité prix ok Chambre simple, arrêt bus 311 à moins de 5’ à pied, très pratique pour rejoindre gare centrale pour arriver ou repartir vers l’aéroport. Petit déjeuner complet (pas de viennoiseries) mais idéal pour démarrer la journée. Machine à café gratuite disponible 24/24 dans une salle commune au 2ème étage avec table de billard et plusieurs canapés et bureau mis à disposition. Check-out trop tôt (10h) et Check-in tard quand on arrive d’Europe tôt le matin, on a dû attendre 7h30 que quelqu’un nous ouvre pour pouvoir laisser nos valises. Pas de bruit, rue calme Accès au parc face à l’opéra en quelques minutes pour obtenir un beau point de vue.

We were greeted by a cockroach in our bathroom when we arrived, the latch on the window was broken so we couldn't shut the window, there was mould on the walls in the bathroom and bedroom and the bottom of the wardrobe was filthy. We only stayed one night, then moved to a different hotel for the rest of our stay in Sydney

Room stuffy! Roach in bathroom. Bed comfortably. Breakfast included was good. Staff friendly.

Basic twin room. Hair left in shower outlet not nice to see. Comfy as bed but pillows very soft. Soap provided on day 2. Cleaner's Glen 20 left in room after clean on day 2. Breakfast was included. Basic but okay.

The first night we killed a cockroach in the sink. The room smelled dated and a bit damp. But it was clean, so that was a plus.

The room was clean at first look then we found some bugs in the bed, a lot of mold in the shower and all over the bathroom and then we saw coaches running around… the building looks shady but seems quite secure, although the bedroom door was not always locking perfectly. Considering the other reviews it s a bit disappointing. If you stay there have some flip flops for the shower.

Wow. What a disaster. The hotel (hostel fits better) was dated. The room was really unclean and very dated. Hair in the bathroom, stained bedding and dirty towels. We left an hour after check in ane moved hotels. I absolutely do not recommend

Staff was courteous and very helpful. The room overall was clean, but the tile in the bathroom could use a little work. The bedding was very nice. Take out comfortable.

Room was not worth the money payed for it! Woke up to cockroaches on the ceiling, dirty toilet seat when we arrived, a quiet frankly unclean bathroom in general. The only redeeming feature was the breakfast. I will try and add pictures of this all if I can. Would love to get my money back as this definitely wasn’t what I payed for!

Room was clean, shared balcony area a nice option. I felt the condition of the hotel is a little tired but the cleanliness was great and the breakfast extremely good. I don't know the area well but as a single female i didn't like walking down the road the hotel is located at night, but i could've easily got an uber/taxi instead. Overall a great place, exceptional value and i will definitely stay there again on my next visit.

Expensive but cheap for Sydney. It has a free breakfast, but we didn’t try it. Good location for walking to the main sights but the room was a bit shoddy. Cold tap hardly ever worked (I had to fill the kettle with the shower). AC switched itself off on the middle of the night due to its timer issues. I wouldn’t stay here again if I came to Sydney.

Birthday get away. Got offered one of the newer rooms. More spacious. Has all the basic amenities to keep our stay comfortable.

Room was very dated. Sink was crack and hot water for the sink was just a trickle. Toilet had a leaky connection Breakfast was good. Laundry facilities was good.

The hotel was clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was good and the location is excellent. Had the annoying shower with no lip so water runs across the bathroom. Nice lounge area. Overall, very pleased with this property

The food selection for breakfast was the same for every morning no variety, eggs, sausage, uncooked, bacon, scrambled eggs, pork and beans, tomatoes every day for seven days got kind of old Would’ve liked something more geared towards Western breakfast, bacon and eggs and hashbrowns

The breakfasts were excellent. Couldn't work out how to get the aircon going. Balcony door jammed.

Got there, and asked about our requested porta cot. Was told it wasn’t requested. But we were assured that they had one. Got up to the room. Phone was disconnected, so went back down to reception an hour after check in to find out more about the porta cot. Reception was closed so used the hotel phone, was told they were out getting a solution. Two hours after check in, still hadn’t received, so went back down to use the phone in the entrance. Rang, said sorry but it is 6:30, any chance of that cot be up soon. Again was told they were working on it. 7:15 came, went down and rang again, was met with a sigh and told she was just finishing dinner with her husband and then she will bring it up. 7:30 came, booked another hotel as we didn’t feel looked after, and were a bother to be there. When heading down with our bags, passed the manager, and I said this probably because I booked through hotels.com, and she said we don’t deal with hotels.com.

Pros: walking distance to botanical gardens, opera house, circular quay, shopping and restaurants. Breakfast included - simple but yummy (Toast, eggs, sausages, cereal, cows and soy milk, yoghurt, fruit, coffee) Cons: reception is only open from 9am to 5pm so if you need any assistance you have to ring the manager who to be honest, is a bit hostile and seems to get annoyed if you ring him after hours. I also paid for a family room with a deck but got given a room without a deck. When I questioned the manager he said he actually had upgraded us to a better/newer room without a deck (meaning I had gotten a better deal despite not getting a varanda room) but to be fair, our room did not look new, it looked exactly the same as the room next door WITH a varanda, that we saw open while the housekeepers were cleaning. So I basically feel a bit ripped off by the hotel. Also, when reserving this hotel with Expedia the booking stated “reserve now, pay at the property” however a week before our arrival I got a AU$500 deposit. When I rang to check will I was being charged before my arrival, the manager said it was because it was a busy time in Sydney (during Taylor Swift concert) and they need a deposit to secure the booking. It was ok with us because we already had the money saved for accommodation, but it’s unfair that the hotel stated one thing on Expedia and didn’t honour it when time came.

Clear communications not evident. No universal code for parking provided despite booking a parking spot. Not even a proper confirmation response regarding this parking booking. When calling website number, the message (can't leave a message either) is years old as 'Craig' hasn't worked there for years apparently. Staff at breakfast were lovely. Man at reception has no customer service abilities. Bathroom sliding door has mould on it when you close it, hence never seen by cleaners. Very unclear, if non-existent instructions on how to get your key and no clue as to what number our room was and if we had the right key once retrieved. Stayed here many years ago when it was really well run. Not the same now. Breakfast was good. Quiet area. Handy to restaurants and art gallery. But would be hesitant to stay again, except for the fact that I now know how to get in. Communication needs vast improvement.

Donna i receptionen var helt fantastisk, hjälpte oss med alla frågor med ett leende på läpparna! Vi hade ett tidigt flyg och de fixade så vi fick frukost innan öppettiden! Bra läge till rimliga pengar med restauranger nära, speciellt bra mat på Sienna Mariners! Läget till city är lite långt om du inte orkar promenera!

Location wasn’t the best with surrounding properties but was walkable to opera house etc, so from that aspect was good. Decor a bit drab

Great location to get to the harbor and the famous Opera House, and Royal Botanic Garden. Close to train station (King Cross). The hotel used to be served for military families and later as age care facility. The breakfast is well prepared and decent.

Feels a little sketchy from the outside at night, especially if (like me) you've never been there and don't know where you are. But come morning I realized that it's got a fantastic location - the Botanical gardens are right there, there's a variety of dining options, and it's near (without being too near) the downtown area. The facility itself a bit retro in its architecture, but solid in construction, with wide hallways, and has been refurbished. Bathrooms (and the rooms in general) were clean, and the morning (Full Australian) breakfast was fantastic. I would definitely stay here again.

Good location can get bus into Sydney or Kings Cross

For the price, which includes breakfast, it's absolutely fine - pretty good actually. A short walk into the city, Opera House and harbour. If you want pristine and sterile this isn't the place for you. If you want a bit of character it's a great find.

Property and breakfast very good. the streets in surrounding streets are dirty and covered in rubbish.

It was very reasonably priced and great location. Breakfast was included, but the cooked food was all prepared very early, so if you eat late there may not be much on offer!
