Although this hotel is not downtown there are still plenty of restaurants and supermarkets within reach. Uber or Bolt is your friend and you can get downtown for as little as 4EUR. We didnt take breakfast as we were staying 5 nights and thought it a little pricey but plenty on the doorstep including a supermarket right next door where you could get pastries. We had a high floor room which was north facing so no sun but nice views. If i was to return i would ensure to ask for the south facing where i assume you overlook the city. The room itself was large and the bed was huge. However it was dark, being north facing and due to dark furniture so seemed a little miserable We didnt eat in the hotel but we used the bar on the rooftop which had amazing views. We used the spa. They have monthly offers which seemed to be a good deal. The deal included the use of their circuit which was simply thermal baths with jets, hammans, jacuzzi etc. Some elements needed repairs but overall was nice as we were the only people in there. We used the swimming pool and contrary to another members feedback it was free for guests.

We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at the Porto Palacio. The room was clean and spacious. Great leisure facilities including a swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Fantastic breakfast. Convenient location close to the bus stop and metro station. The staff were friendly and helpful. I thoroughly recommend this hotel which is truly 5 star.

The property was very nice, however, the garage parking was extremely tight. Rather than send someone down to get my car, the desk clerk handed me the keys. Of course, I scratched the side of the car not being used to the extreme tightness. Netflix, YouTube and other streaming services did not work. I was told it was Sunday and people don't work -- heck, they are operating a supposed "5-Start" hotel and can't get their TV to properly work. My wife lives elsewhere and their hotel always has an emergency technicians available. The lamp light didn't work. The handle in the shower was difficult to turn. I have stayed in hotels around the world including Lisbon and Porto and I'd rate this a 4-star IF everything was working. What was nice was the bar and dining area, the large gym, the spa and steam room. I planned to use the spa but didn't get a chance to do so. Finally, the roof bar was nice and the view outstanding but like the primary menu, it should have a few more appetizer options.

A very good and reasonably priced stay. The breakfast buffet was spectacularly good with a big variety of cooked and continental options of high quality. The only minor issue is that while having free parking was excellent it would be better if the entrance was more clearly marked from the road. The spiral ramp in and out is also rather tight so may be difficult to negotiate in an unfamiliar hired large SUV!

Nice hotel. Clean. I liked the free vallet parking. The rooftop patio and free drink upon arrival was also very nice. A swim cap is required for the pool and are for sale for 3 euros if you don’t bring your own. The pool was very clean as a result. There was some construction around the property which did detract and also made it a bit difficult to access the bus The food from the restaurant was good; however we ordered our burger well done and it was more medium. Drinks were ridiculously expensive for Portugal. 5.50 euros for a can of soda. Go to the supermarket next door and you’ll find them for 1.50.

We stayed three nights at Porto Palacio and enjoyed the high quality of the facilities. The gym on the lower level was a nice surprise; very large with most weights and equipment one might need. The neighborhood streets and sidewalks are under major construction making it a pedestrian challenge. The location is a bit distant from the river but doable on foot. The underground parking spiral is not recommended for larger cars or SUV’s. Best to leave this job to the valets!

Great beds, AC, and shower. Good selection of TV channels to watch. The rooftop lounge and bar is a highlight. The only negative was that our carpets were extensively stained and some of the desks were sticky, so cleanliness was an issue for us. Would still recommend, but keep that in mind.

Room was disappointing and felt in need of a deep clean owing to the stains on floor and walls (exploding drink came to mind). Rest of the hotel was excellent and food fantastic at rooftop restaurant. Stayed elsewhere in Porto for rest of trip and better quality and value in other hotel.

A fine stay but definitely not 5 stars. Room was large and great bathroom, but cleanliness was somewhat lacking, especially the carpets which were stained and dirty. Hotel itself was clean and modern - rooftop bar was nice. Pool looked good - staff were rude when tried to use it, saying you needed to purchase swimming caps from reception. Not a very welcoming approach to using the facilities.

They should definitely not use beige carpet in a hotel. It looked absolutely filthy. The hotel itself is presented well, however, the beds are extremely hard. We had advised them our air was not working in the room and it took on the third of our fourth night Stay for them to come and claim it was not working and moved us to another room, which was extremely inconvenient. It is also a 15 minute Uber ride downtown. I will pass on staying here again. Definitely not five star.

This hotel totes itself as a 5 star hotel, but having travelled to many, it is not at that level. Buffet breakfast is limited in options compared to other hotels at a 5 star quality rating. The room I was in had stained carpet and the drain in the shower was not functIonal, nor was soap checked for levels. The location is not convenient for pedestrian access to the old city. But convenient enough to the metro. Room is quiet and the sliding door dividing the bath and toilet rooms (they were separate in my room) adds acoustic privacy. The separate bath and toilet room would be convenient for people travleeing together but less so maybe for solo.

Dejligt rummeligt værelse hvor bad og toilet var delt op, hvilket fungerede rigtig godt. Pæn udsigt. Vores værelse havde en dør, der kunne bruges til at forbinde værelset til naboværelset. Dette medførte desværre, at man meget tydeligt kunne høre gæsterne på naboværelset, hvilket rækker en del ned for os. Portnerne var eksemplariske. Receptionisten var på ingen måde serviceminded og vi ville have forventet mere af et hotel med så mange stjerner. Hotellet ligger en del udenfor centrum.

We booked an executive twin room and were told on arrival that we had been upgraded from that room (which would have been on the 10th, 11th or 12th floor) to Room 1706 near the top of the hotel, with a fantastic view out over Porto to the Douro River and even a little piece of the Atlantic Ocean. The room was extremely quiet and very comfortable (although the pillows could use an upgrade). The internet connection was out our first night, so neither TV nor wifi worked, but we told the desk staff about it when we went out our first morning and it was fixed by the time we got back. Breakfast was very nice, served in a very large room, with lots of choices (including port and sparkling wine!) and specialty coffees available by order. The hotel is not centrally located, but metro stops are within walking distance and the metro is very easy to use, and taxis (inexpensive by US standards) easily got us to train stations for day trips and to the airport for departure.

No 5 star experience! Roomservice did not fully clean the room. Came back to hotel and all trash from a full day stood in front of our room door (very disgusting and unpleasant!!!). Old leather furniture is sticky. No employee beside the guy checking me in, did greet me. Furthermore it seems you have to be a rich fu‘k to get greetings. „Security and concierge“ never did, even when they would pass by me for someone else. When asking front desk if they had a scale to weigh a luggage bag they replied with not having such (are you fu“king kidding me? The whole „porto palacio hotel and spa“ doesnt have a single scale in the house???). Guess what: Of course they did have one and i even found it myself in the locker rooms of the hotel gym!

You don’t have sufficient personnel in key positions that speak English. Not enough personnel in housekeeping waited to get pillows and towels for two hours, again the front desk does not answer the phone because they are too busy, not enough personnel. The phone in the room did not work, the security box needed the battery replaced. Coffee the room only for one.

My stay at Porto Palácio Hotel was truly exceptional. The service was warm and professional, the room elegant and comfortable, and the views from the rooftop bar were unforgettable. I especially appreciated the relaxing sauna steam room and jacuzzi and the hotel’s perfect balance of luxury and convenience. The breakfast buffet was amazing, it has everything you need and staff on hand were extremely friendly and accommodating. A beautiful experience I’d happily repeat.

This hotel claims to be 5-star, but our experience was far from it. The air conditioning didn’t work the entire time we were there, making the room unbearably hot and impossible to sleep in. We reported the issue three times—each time we were told a technician would come. Someone showed up twice, only to tell us there was nothing they could do. No resolution, no apology, no compensation. On top of that, the beds were uncomfortable and the carpet was stained and filthy. For a hotel that markets itself as luxury, the reality is way off. This hotel has all the things you need for a good stay in Porto. A rooftop terrace with the view to the whole city, spacious room, clean and comfortable. Breakfast had lots of choices reasonably priced. Metrostation to the city and airport is just 10 minutes walk.You can also walk to the city takes around one hour.

There’s a lot of construction in the area, but the hotel is clean and well-appointed with excellent staff. Joao at front desk was welcoming and helpful. Room was comfortable, two wash basins plus separate WC with small sink. Towel warmers by shower were nice! Excellent buffet breakfast with many options including eggs and meats, breads and pastries, fruit, cheese and more. Fresh juices, coffee and tea service, attentive staff. There is an indoor pool and gym, plus a rooftop bar. Metro station is short walk, very convenient.

The hotel is a short walk away from Casa de Musica tram stop, and there are also buses that go past it. It's nicely located a short journey from the tourist centre of town but far enough out that getting to the beaches and airport isn't a hassle. Our room was spacious and very clean. The towels were changed everyday (even though they didn't need to be (we hung them up on the rack to dry). We had swimming pool and gym access included in our room charge so we're able to swim everyday. We didn't have swimming caps but they were available for purchase from reception. The room was very warm and despite us leaving our spare card in and having Aircon set to maintain 18°C, the cleaner would often remove it. I guess it's a cost saving thing? The breakfast buffet was delicious and had a good variety. We had to leave before breakfast on our last day (early flight - that ended up being massively delayed) and when we mentioned this to the dining staff the day before they told us to tell reception and we could have breakfast boxes made up to take with us.
