I was genuinely excited to stay at Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic for my first trip to France, but this was one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences I’ve had. I understand Cannes can be busy during major events, but if a hotel cannot maintain basic standards during high-demand periods, it should not charge luxury rates. At this price point, the bare minimum is a clean room. My room was visibly dirty. There were multiple human hairs throughout the bed—not one stray hair, but many, of different lengths and textures, making it feel as though the sheets may have simply been remade. The bathroom was also dirty: the door handle was sticky, the shampoo bottles had pink mold and black grime, and there was a bar of soap on the floor behind the bidet. When I turned on the shower, the handle fell into the tub. I raised the issue politely with the front desk. They said housekeeping would “deep clean” the room and change the sheets. When I returned, there were still hairs in the bed. The follow-up was cookies/macarons, but the actual cleanliness issues remained. The spa was also disappointing. I paid for a very expensive facial that was marketed as a luxury treatment, but it felt mostly like masks being applied and removed, with very little massage or pampering. There was no real spa experience, robe, sauna, steam, or lounge. Dinner at the hotel was also poor, with inattentive service and a watery, badly executed lobster/zucchini dish.

This is an amazing hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful bedroom with a side view so you could see the sea. The breakfast was amazing, You can’t get better my second stay here. The hotel is close to the old town, restaurants and shops, Definitely be going back .
