Beautifully restored hotel within 5 min walk to the waterfront. The onsite restaurant was great for a casual meal. The parking lot is very easy to find after checking in. Would stay here again for sure.

Good location, Room a little tight, but very clean with wood floors (no carpet). Parking however can be a problem. Parking lot is about a block away, unsecured, with only 24 stalls. I'm to understand they have over 70 rooms and might oversell parking passes and if you do not find a spot, they will simply reimburse parking cost.

Fabulous staff, clean renovated rooms, on a quiet area of the floor. Only complaint was not about the hotel but the adjoining rooftop restaurant that closed without notice before we could get there; we were hoping to watch the sunset from there but apparently sometimes they will close it early if they think it’s too cold.

Great location , really nice rooms for the money. And the parking should be included if you’re staying more than 3 days. Just as a bonus. Thats all. To pay $15 a day for parking is crazy.

Excellent location, close to the parts of the city centre you need. The staff are lovely and really helpful. The room is comfortable and quiet. The bars attached to the hotel are great and have everything you need. The parking for the hotel is around the corner and easily accessible.

Everything was great! Nearby parking in Victoria is hard to find. The Strat has parking nearby for 15$. Bar downstairs, breakfast and many different restaurants all walking distance. Harbour area is down the street. Lots of shopping. Hotel staff was very pleasant.

The room was very, very clean and comfortable and very quiet even though it overlooked some of the busy activities of the night we were comfortable, and the room was very peaceful. The staff was excellent! The location was ideal. We were able to park for $15 a day and then walk everywhere from our hotel and we took advantage of the pub downstairs and the nearby restaurants.

Great hotel, very clean and modern room. Super friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bed, hot shower, great location. Easy parking nearby. Had to take off one star because the door to the room didn't block any sound and we could hear everything in the hallway. We were right across from the elevator and stairs, which means we heard everyone passing thru. Otherwise, a great stay and I would stay again.

In the heart of downtown so everything was very walkable. Lots of restaurants and shopping close by. Downside of this is that, because it’s very busy, it is quite loud as it’s on a Main Street, but this is expected being in downtown. We were woken up a few times as there was a large commotion outside. Room was newly renovated, but could improve on cleanliness, specifically the bathroom. Pink mold and regular mold all along the shower. Staff was great and super friendly. Also worth noting is that the parking is down the street and it’s not underground (and you have have to pay).

Bedding had endless amounts of other people hair. I specifically mentioned I was there for work and needed a quiet room. Deck person insisted I had a quiet room had to listen to pub patrons all night and traffic.

Location is perfect. Many things in walking distance. Room was newly remodeled and very clean. Staff was friendly and efficient. Hotel was so gracious to hold our bags before check in and after check out. Great hotel, will stay again.

Stayed in the City Suite. The room itself was really nice. Spacious, modern and updated. Had everything we needed. Although pull-out sleeper sofa in the living room was just uncomfortable. I don’t recommend using it unless you really have to. Also the noise was quite bad. My room was facing the street and I could hear traffic and ambulance late into the night even with my ear plugs. Also there’s a pub downstairs and I could hear people talking, yelling - but the worst was the music. The rumbling bass sound kept going past midnight. Might be better to get a room on higher levels so you are further away from noise source. Overall very nice hotel, just beware of the noise.

It was like staying in a closet. There was no disclosure regarding the lack of a view and daylight. The room was not worth the money paid for it. The hotel would not issue an invoice. I have not received one from Expedia.

A wonderful place to stay with a comfy bed, large bathroom with shower and separate sitting area. They gave us a free upgrade to a King suite so appreciated the extra space. Great to have had coffee and tea supplied in our room with a microwave, kettle, fridge and microwave. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Parking is just around the corner for a nominal sur-charge. The only downside was our room on the 4th floor faced the main street and it was pretty noisy all night long. We will definitely stay here again

Well for the price very small room but very clean and comfortable. Did not like the fact that once I opened the screen for the window it was just wall of the building like very very close no view at all made the stay feel confined and like a dungeon. Would not stay there again due to the window and small size of the room.

Our room was spacious with 2 super comfy queen beds...comfy pillows too. It had a nice little entry with a bench and coat space which was nice in the cooler weather. The bathroom was very clean and roomy as well. We were able to spread out easily. We were very impressed with the room and would stay again. The hotel is a bit dated/old school but in good condition. But that is the whole vibe of the hotel. It was in a great location for strolling and shopping. And an easy uber to lots of sights. There is a bit of unhoused population in the area but it is no different than any part of the tourist area. Did not feel unsafe. Thanks for the hospitality.

I wasn't expecting much from staying at this property, but I was pleasantly surprised from my overall experience! All the staff were friendly, professional and accommodating. When checking in I asked for a room on an upper floor, the gentleman offered a top floor corner room for me! My room was immaculate, bright and looked newly renovated! It had a comfortable bed with clean linens, and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. The only negative I can share is the noise level from the two bars at street level connected to the hotel. On a Saturday night after 2 am the loud conversations and yelling is a bit much. Bring earplugs with you if your room faces Douglas Street. Aside from that, I would definitely stay at The Strathcona Hotel on future visits to Victoria!!

Strangely enough, I had to register my husband’s name as an additional guest in the room, and the front desk clerk was adamant that I had to provide his full name, before I could be issued our room key cards. When I asked why, I was told it was for my safety (if they needed to evacuate, then they’d have a total headcount - - which they’d have from a guest COUNT, and not from guest NAMES). When I asked again later in the conversation, I was told it was for security. When I followed up with the GM the next day, I was told that it was for guest experience reasons - - many times, one party misplaces their keycard and needs a new one, but if they’re not a registered guest in the room, it’s a hassle to contact the registered guest to get them to come to the front desk and get a new keycard issued. Sure, I suppose I can appreciate the guest experience reason - but if I don’t feel the need to register my guest’s name, it shouldn’t be pressed, because I can guarantee the family of 5 who checked in simultaneously as us, weren’t asked to provide the full names of their teenage kids staying with them.

At strathcona hotel victoria for two nights. Second night at 10:30 a drunk man broke into the room my daughter and I were staying in . Door was shut and I had assumed it would lock with card key entry as in other hotels so not bolted. I quickly rose to confront him yelling at him to get out, he was not comprehensible but did leave ( closing the door) then got in again a few minutes later-- I assume the card key for his room let him into ours? I again confronted him as he babbled, chased him out of the room bolted and barricaded the door with furniture from the room. Called the desk who got security who came and never spoke to me tho I could hear them laughing with the drunk outside my door. The desk then called me back and insisted it was my fault as we had not closed the door "properly ". Apparently the drunk didn't close it properly as he left the first time either? There was no follow up from management despite my bringing the incident up again at check out the next am. I will never stay at Strathcona hotel in Victoria again nor should any woman. It is seedy and unsafe despite being as expensive as nearby more professional hotels I have stayed in while traveling to Victoria.

We enjoyed our stay here for two nights. The front desk who checked us in was so friendly and accommodating. I'm sorry, I forgot her name. We celebrated my partner's birthday and got upgraded for free and received a voucher for their restaurant next door. Closed to town, walkable. Highly recommended.

Expedia and Strathcona argue about who did what, but in the end, the room was cancelled without me knowing until I tried to check in. I had to find alternate accommodation on my own, last minute, so paid double the price. Expedia refuses to give a full refund, even though it wasn’t me who cancelled. I will not be using Expedia for any more travel.

The room was very nice and clean. That was not the issue. I had to endure 4 hours of absolute mayhem as police had to subdue, handcuff and arrest a guest from the room next door. The paper thin walls made it feel like I was in the same room. These things happen. I understand that. But the staff did not have the presence of mind to check on me and perhaps move me to another room. To add insult to injury, other guests were partying in the hallway. the noise and disturbance was unbearable. I had to call down and have them send security. My stay was completely ruined. I had to calmly make a complaint and they begrudgingly refunded 1 of my two nights. I don’t understand how they think that was good enough to make the problem go away. It would have been a very small price to pay to ensure I was was taken care of and to do what was necessary to care for a guest.

You can’t check in until after 4 pm, this is dumb, we went checked in at 5 pm, took almost 30 mins, first impression of the hotel is it is very poorly managed. Saw many frustrated guests sitting in the lobby, most of the guests had payment problems. There are only two chairs in the lobby. There was no bottled water in the room. The building is good, but it’s the people part that is not good.

Little gem hidden downtown. We booked this hotel as close proximity to Save On Memorial to see Bryan Adams, not much else available at the time. Very surprised and impressed with the hotel and rooms, super clean and well maintained and great staff! Would recommend!

The staff are amazing! But keep in mind the roof top bar above sticky wicket, unfortunately it is very loud, until late hours of the nights and its directly outside the windows. But the staff again are very kind and extremely accommodating!

Clean room, very sweet and kind staff (Malahat was so lovely), also the stickey wicket that is attatched to this hotel has very good food, would highly reccomend a visit there. Great location, even in November we walked almost everywhere we wanted to go. Highly reccomend this hotel, the price was great too 💜

Really enjoyed our overnight stay at this place. I would stay here again when visiting Victoria. I enjoyed the lounge next door, it was a great place to meet up with friends before continuing our trip.
