This a great spot, conveniently located to everything within walking distance. Property is undergoing renovation so it still lacks the curb appeal, but the bed was super comfy, room stayed really cold and it was a hot weekend. Super friendly staff. Will stay here again!

Clearly under going renovations however they allowed us to check in early and leave our car after check out so we could grab lunch. Very close to downtown (walkable). Looking forward to stopping back once renovations are complete.

This is a property in transition, moving from Scottish Inn to Castillo Inn. The rooms are clearly being updated, the property is receiving attention, and the work seems ongoing. Also, this is a motel, not a high end boutique hotel. It's pricing is aligned with that. So set your expectations appropriately. That said, we stayed for four days. The location is awesome - across the street from the original Church site, and just a few minutes walk to the mail attraction. Literally under five minutes to the Jail and 'Fountain of Youth'. A couple more minutes to Ripleys, and only 10 minutes to the Fort and Old Town. We didn't drive the whole time we were there except for the last day when we drove to the Cathedral - that literally took longer to drive and park than it would have taken to walk. Our room was large and refurnished with ceramic tile floors and what looks like marble bathrooms. The bed was comfortable and the bedding excellent - and the room was quiet. Internet was fast enough for my wife to get in a day's work. There were some things they can do to make it better - new fixtures perhaps, but all in all, a good value and great location. We'll stay there again.

Bathroom sink did not drain well. After taking a shower, the whole bathroom filled with water even under the sink, which did not empty. Needed a squiggie to push water to drain. Not a safe environment to be walking in with tile flooring. When I told owner at front desk, she responded with she knows that, but they obviously don't care to fix it. I would try again, hopefully not all rooms are the same. I think ours was handicap room.

I visit St Augustine several times a year and find the Castillo the best value in town. My room has always been exceptionally clean with free on site parking. It is “no frills” but what I save in $ I use for entertaining which is a short pleasant walk away. We have spent twice as much on B&B’s in town but what we enjoy bar and restaurant hopping than spending the time and the extra money at these locations

The most positive thing about this property was its convenient location to all the historic attractions in St. Augustine and the free parking.

I come to St. Augustine a lot and I've stayed here several times because it's cheap and convenient, never expecting the Fairmont on Knob Hill for the price, but I do expect the place to be clean and functional. The tub drain was full of nasty hair, there was no hot water, and the shower knob felt as though it would come right off. There was unpainted spackling where some repairs had been made but not finished. It was just disappointing. May not be back.

My only real complaint with my stay is that we had no hot water in the shower. The manager did his best to remedy the problem but to no avail. The price is cheap and we booked last minute so that is a bonus. Overall, would stay again, granted the hot water was fixed. They also let us park our car there after we checked out, so we could walk around town. The price was right, can’t complain too much

Castillo Inn is OK, but not great. Very good location - just a 5 minutes walk to Historic area / downtown and the Castillo area and right opposite "our Lady de la Leche Shrine". Free parking (a big plus). The accommodation is very basic and a bit dated, no hair dryer, no coffee machine, can be noisy if room is close to main road. Price for St. Augustine are is OK. If you have minimum requirements for accommodation and priority is to see the town...then this is a decent choice.

Room was adequate. They are under going new ownership and much needed renovations are taking place.

Pros: parking, proximity to the DT area, cold A/C, Mike was really nice and helpful, and we only saw one bug. Cons: dirty - toilet wasn’t clean (pee splatter up the back of toilet seat), cigarette burns on duvet, stained towels and sheets, dirty and unswept floors, tape over broken window, and we woke up to a puddle of water on the ground that was seeping out of the closet. We sort of knew what we were getting into before booking the hotel due to poor reviews. We brought our own blankets, towels, pillowcases, and sheets thankfully and I would highly recommend doing this as well. Consider it a glamping or bare bones air BNB sort of experience. The toilet worked, the shower worked, but everything was kind of gross. Overall impression: Because of the excellent price and location, we MIGHT book this place again but only if we could clean it ourselves beforehand.

Cockroaches in the room and it was dirty and smelled of cigarette smoke.

Got to room about midnight after a long drive and room wasn’t cleaned. Also the room was in in bad shape and had the feeling of not wanting to touch anything. Also sketchy people were hanging around the outside of the motel.

The most horrible, dirty, and foul-smelling place. I ran out of that place.

The only good thing about it is the convenient location. Not recommended for families, we did not stay the second night we booked. Rooms need a redo and proper cleaning, bedding and towels are old and stained.

The room was absolutely disgusting. I have my son with me. Non smoking room, but the moment I walked in I was blasted with a pungent odor or cigarette smoke. Tried turning on 2 light, the wall light and the first lamp. Neither turned on. Then the bedside lamp finally did. After the light, I looked in the corner of the room, to what look like hasn't been swept in weeks. Stains on the sides of the bed/mattresses, and hair on them underneath. Seashells, at least 5 of them, in the corner behind the mini fridge. Cords just strown in front of the TV connecting it to cable. Absolutely not. I will not have my son stay in this room. All the reviews were right, avoid at all costs.

Me and my wife liked the convenience being close to the city area of St. Augustine. What we did not like is that we had to change rooms as the first one had a very dirty toilet and bathroom. The second room was not much better. Again toilet and bathroom was dirty and no toilet paper. Found stains on our bed sheets for the bed. We will not be going back and would not recommend people stay at this place.

Rooms were dirty. Floors not swept or mopped, stained shower walls, curtain and towel. Walked in saw the room and walked right back out. Save your time and money, stay somewhere else.

Bed was horrible. Squeaked all night. Toilet wouldn't flush ans sink to a long time to drain when faucet was on.

Room was clearly just renovated and very clean! The bed was much more comfortable than many other chain hotels around the same price. Only issue was the bathroom door wouldn't close all the way and slid across the floor, but this really wasn't a big deal

Basic low budget motel. Room did have a tv and fridge. Main light did not work, which made it tricky when checking in at night. Should probably pull shower drain and clean all the hair out of it. If you just need a place to sleep for a night or two, it will do.

Check in is supposed to be at 2:00. Our room wasn’t ready until almost 5:00. The door didn’t close properly or seal. You could see outside between the door and door frame. The chain lock was held in with one screw. The owners were very nice! They were apologetic for the delay. This is a cool old St. Augustine motel that just needs a little love. It looks like the may be doing some renovations because there was a construction dumpster in the parking lot. It is an a 10 minute walk to the historic downtown area, so the was nice. For the record, we did not feel unsafe. The area is decent.

Very close to shops, restaurants and sight seeing locations. Could walk everywhere, unlike other visits where we needed to drive. Free ice machine. Mini fridge was clean and had a little freezer. When I called, they brought towels right away. Updated floors and bedding. Shower was big and clean, but there was no counter space to open a make up bag and lay it down in the bathroom. We had three lamps, but the lighting was dim. Doors and windows were very old. I will definitely stay here again. The good price and convenience outweighs any downfalls from age.

The price was right. Especially for St Augustine. Close to everything so if you want to save money and be able to walk everywhere this is the place for you. Not the fanciest place but not the worst either. I felt safe. Sheets were high quality and I slept sound all night. Would stay here again.

This was my second time staying at the Castillo Inn. It is a wonderful location, with just a short walk to the city historic section. The rooms themselves are very clean. The staff was very pleasant. The beds were comfortable. It is a very basic facility, however. Simple things could really improve the stay. (i.e. Tissues in the bathroom; coffee available in the lobby.) For a comfortable, reasonably priced place near downtown, the Castillo Inn is the answer.

Our stay was nice. Don't come here expecting a Hilton. It is a very basic motel but better than expected. With that being said it was very clean, quiet, the front desk guy was very nice and friendly. We had a problem with our shower not turning on, when it was brought up to the front desk guy, he had someone in our room in less than 5 minutes. The maintenance guy was quick and fixed it, he was very nice and in and out in no time. Over all our stay was better than expected. The only complaint I have about this place is that there was not a microwave in the room. The location is perfect if you want to walk to St. George Street as it's only a 7 minute walk. There is a great coffee shop 2 blocks away and many really good restaurants VERY close by.

This is not what you think based on the pictures. The property is run down , we checked in , went to have drinks and food , came back and there was someone else given our room - thankfully we had not brought any on our stuff in the room yet , no one was at the front desk , had to call the number, a guy answered came out unlocked the office- told us he could give us another room and that it was Orbitz fault. Not worth the stay, also looks like they have people actually living in some of the the rooms as well.

I waited 30 minutes for the owner come check me in after calling him by using the number written in paper on the doors. The room was hottttttt hot hot when we walked in. They are under a little bit of renovations, however, my daughter and I had an already renovated room. Then when getting settled in for the evening ( so we thought ) my slaughter went in the covers for no more than three minutes and was covered from the waste down in bites. Bugs everywhere!!! In the room.

The staff was friendly and the resort is well located, closed to mayor places of interest.

Had male owner come knocking on my door a day before my check out time telling me to check out. An he was creepy he was always watching when someone came or left. Plus the door to the rood didnt close properly so made it hard to lock.

The hotel is right in the middle of pretty much everything - for an inexpensive hotel this one is a gem

Convenient to downtown. We were able to walk to our destinations and not have to worry about parking or uber anywhere.

Great value for the city centre location. Lots to see and do within a short walk.

It was absolutely stunning in St Augustine, the inn we stayed at was a block from historic downtown. Room was clean, it was a fantastic price per night.

The property is in a very convenient location its older but all in all for the price I would stay here again.

Location & price was great, also liked the Historical 400 year old oak tree onsite

We really liked staying at Castillo Inn for our 10th anniversary. It was a quiet hotel and within walking distance of a few restaurants. I'm sure we could've walked to the historic downtown, but we both have walking challenges. We definitely be back with our family.

We stayed 2 nights. We got an assessable room. Went to shower. Water ran across floor away from drain soaking bath m at and on to my personal toiletries which were on the floor as there is absolutely no place to put anything and water soaked up another bath towel. Very pour drainage. Our room was dark as a cave, very pour lighting It was clean and had very nice sheets. They also gave me a coffee pot as rooms do not have one.

Over priced dive. I paid less at other hotels and got a lot more. No coffee. No breakfast. No facilities. Small TV. Just a motel

The property is dated and extremely sparse on amenities. However, if you are looking for a comfortable bed and a shower, this place is good for that.

Close to alot to do around fort. Easy checkin, very basic room no coffee pot of any kind, some outlets didnt work. But for a place to lay your head a good price compared to others.
