Pros: Amazing location in front of the eiger mountain and close to ski stations, restaurants and markets, 10 minutes from the train station, the hotel provide a free shuttle to the train station Great views everywhere, at the bar, pool, restaurant Staff is super polite and always trying to help Cons: The pool is not hot, just warm/cool, feels cold No jacuzi or hot water pool There is no room service for food and dinner at the hotel costs 65 chf per person The shower is big but weak Lots of children playing in the breakfast area because of the pancake machine, no adults only sector Free drinks at the minibar, but only 0% alc beer, frustrating Great hotel, so sad the pool wasnt warm

It takes about eight minutes to walk from Grindelwald Station. If you have a carrier, the hotel will provide a pick-up service. It is a famous hotel for honeymoon, and there are relatively many Koreans. The first gondola was convenient because in front of the hotel. The hotel staff were so kind, and breakfast was fine. There are swimming pools and SPA facilities underground, and people rarely use them, so I used them very comfortably. I wake up in the morning and look at the eiger northern wall view is so grand and cool. This is an eco-friendly hotel, and there are no slippers in the room, and there is no coffee pot, so you have to get hot water in the lobby. There is no separate microwave or cooking area.

LOVED the spa. Front desk staff weren't very knowledgeable/helpful. I got a parking ticket from parking in the lot right next to the hotel. It was 140 Swiss Francs, that kind of soured the experience. Hotel staff did not ask me if I had a vehicle upon check in. Learned the hard way. Then I asked the staff how I can pay the ticket, and they had no idea since I don't have a Swiss bank account. They weren't much help. Figured it out on my own... the hard way once again. My shower was clogged during the entire stay. I told the front desk 2 hours after checking in. It was never fixed. I stayed for 4 nights. Disappointing. Breakfast buffet was amazing. Views were insane! Spa was lovely.

We had a fantastic stay at the Sunstar Hotel: stunning views spacious room well located - close to "First" lift, bus stop by the hotel and ski rental shop next door super friendly/helpful staff great buffet breakfast amazing spa The only negatives: the ski/boot room is woefully small for the size of hotel/number of guests. Not only could you hardly move in there at busy times, but sometimes it was difficult to find a place to put your skis/boots. The biggest ski hotel I've ever stayed in, yet the smallest boot room - scratch head. The bar was very nice with an open fire every night. However on some nights the bar service was incredibly slow - like 25 mins to order a drink. I know some nights were busy and some quiet, but when busy would it be possible to find another member of staff to serve?

We stayed in 5 different hotels during our trip to Switzerland and this is the only hotel where we have anything negative to say. The shower broke and fell on my daughter’s head and management offered us a voucher for a future stay for the incident. We won’t ever be back, so declined. The tub was disgusting and moldy as well. We tried calling the front desk four separate times but they would never answer so we had to walk down to reception. There were 2-3 people just standing around so no reason the phones couldn’t be answered. The hotel restaurant had terrible service and food. Reviews online seemed good so maybe because we were there in shoulder season everything was subpar? We ordered 3 steaks and they were all severely overcooked. The 2 burgers ordered at our table were essentially raw - they apparently got the temperatures backwards for the entrees. The spa was also subpar. We really don’t have anything nice to say about this hotel other than the views were amazing - but you can get the same view at many other hotels so I would strongly encourage you to look at those.

Nice view but that’s about it. Service was average with staff who don’t seem very happy to be there, corridors filled with mattresses and rubbish during the day, construction noise and cranes next door, very busy and basic breakfast with the room looking like a lacklustre function room. Day cleaning consisted of switching cups and emptying the bin. Zero flexibility on anything; ie. I asked if I could swap the complimentary welcome non alcoholic prosecco for a juice or champagne for my son and I was told ‘of course not, it’s that or nothing’. For the price paid, the experience was very poor and I would recommend looking at one of the apartments in town, another hotel or more likely, one of the beautiful car free towns that is less touristy and has very friendly happy people.

Lovely staff at reception. Rooms as one expects in a ski area are small but very well designed to be efficient and have everything you need( except air conditioning) but they provided fans. Very clean rooms. Good bed and I had a lovely view.

Stayed here 2 nights to explore Grindelwald. No AC. Tiny, plastic budget fan provided. Breakfast was included but can be very busy with tour groups coming in. Pool and steam room was nice. Didn’t get to use the other amenities as they opened later in the day. Overall, ok stay. Nothing to rave about. Nothing much to complain about.

This beautiful property is in a perfect location for accessing the cable car to First, train station, buses, shops and restaurants. We stayed in a large room which had ample storage and a fabulous view of the mountains from our balcony. There was tea and coffee making facilities and drinks in the fridge which were replenished daily. The bathroom was large with a few essential toiletries and had a bath and shower. We had the breakfast each day which was very nice with a super range of hot food, cold meats, fruits, yoghurts, cereals etc. We stayed when the weather was very hot and the room felt very warm with no air conditioning. I appreciate that this particularly hot weather was quite unusual and we were given a fan. Transport to and from the station is offered on your days of arrival/leavjng. The area is amazing and the hotel is very accessible for First activities and Jungfraujoch. I would definitely stay here again.

The view & staff are the highlight! The rooms need some updating. I saw one that had wood floors but ours had old furniture and yucky carpet. The bathroom was pretty sterile and uninspired too, especially for the CHF 800 + we paid a night. On another positive, the spa is lovely and it’s really cool that they let you go there anytime because you’re a guest. The included breakfast is also plentiful and the location can’t be beat!

The Sunstar is a great hotel for visiting Grindelwald as it has amazing views, friendly staff, and a great breakfast (the location is pretty good, too). The room we had was Mountain View and our balcony let us just sit an be in awe of the Alps. They also have rooms with a view of the town—those would be okay, but the streets have lots of pedestrians and might be less enjoyable for those who like privacy. The pool is good but has limited hours, closing at 8:00. The staff were always friendly (our kiddo got a welcome gift) and helpful. Location-wise, know that you want to go to the end of the train line, Grindelwald, not Grindelwald Terminal, to get here most easily. From there, it’s about a 7 to 10 minute walk (depending on your speed on hills). They have a shuttle, but we always walked.

Extremely poor service and management. Do not stay. 절대로 오지 마세요. The reception agent LIED and said our shuttle was "on the way" when it wasnt. My tired parents had to walk from station Our friends room was also not cleaned up when they checked in. When confronted, manager Mary-Ann offered us drink coupons. Laughable. Go stay at other neighbor hotels with same view.

Hotel com boa localização e boas instalações. Pena foi a atitude de alguns funcionários, em especial os que trabalham no bar, quando solicitado uma entrega de água no quarto mandaram eu buscar e lá chegando começaram a, de forma rude, me passar um sermão que não possuem serviço de leva e traz para o quarto e que tal serviço custaria 29 francos. We were indeed disappointed of the Sunstar hotel policy. We book a 2-night stay of which check in was on 22/6/2024 and check-out on 24/6/2024. Due to the natural hazard at Zermatt, all traffic routes were cut off. We were stranded there and was not able to leave the town on 22/6. We were only able to check-in at Sunstar on 23/6 and was informed that refund is not possible as our booking was non-refundable. We understand the hotel has strict rules but it doesn't make sense for travelers to bear the cost for natural hazards within Switzerland itself! Please bear in mind that the natural hazard was unexpected and it shouldn't be accountable to the travelers. Sunstar hotel should review its policy and please do refund us for the night that we didn't manage to stay. To add on, the hotel seems to have insufficient staff members. We booked a shuttle for a dropoff at Grindelwald station at 10.30am. We waited at the lobby since 10.25am and had to keep asking where is our driver? The driver only showed up around 10.35-10.40am but was still caught up with other errands. We were so nervous as we had to catch the train at 10.47am. The reception staff and the driver didn't seem to care about us at all. My goodness. We had to keep pushing them to send us off!!! What kinda service is that?

Great access to the slopes. Across the road from one set of lifts and a short bus ride to another. Bus stops outside hotel and drops you at the ski lift terminal. It’s easy. Gorgeous town and very friendly people. Service at Sun Star was very friendly and helpful.
